The newest gem added to BLVD MRKT, SolRad is an absolute creative masterpiece led by native Angeleno, Chef Teo Montoya. Inspired by his childhood upbringing living in Southern California, SolRad's menu and brand brings elements of Chicano culture, mixed with Baja California ingredients, and Southern California Diner food. Eating one of Chef Montoya's Smashie burgers with a side of mojo potatoes will immediately take transport you to an imaginary world in the 70s where you'd pull up to an InNout in a champagne colored Chevy Impala convertible. Even though SolRad operates in a small kitchen, Chef Montoya has managed to pack MASSIVE flavor into all of his food. Everything in scratch made, from his burger Pattie's, all the way to his tomato ketchup. Each dish has a custom artisan feel to it.
One of my favorite dishes is his Pasilla rings, Chef Montoya's twist on a classic diner favorite, the Onion Ring. The flavor of it is a cross between fried zucchini fries and beer battered onion rings, a dish you def don't want to miss.
In addition to amazing food, where SolRad really stands out is in their amazing customer service and brand promise. Justin, one of the business partners manages one of the best bars in the world, Death & Co. Justin believes in delivering the best experience to his guests and you'll often find him hand delivering food to guests and chatting with them about the food. Such a stand out experience.
This place is so authentically Cali diner that I wouldn't be surprised if they had a secret menu also.
