Sol’s in Bayswater is a stylish deli by day and a cozy wine bar by night, serving elegant European fare and chilled wines that create a perfectly pleasant vibe.
"A delightful white-tiled deli operation in Bayswater that turns into an anchovy freak’s fantasy come evening, Sol’s is, like any bit-of-this, bit-of-that place worth its salt, endearingly impractical for anyone on a strict schedule. Instead, it’s perfect for chilled red consumption and stylish chin stroking over patatas bravas." - jake missing, heidi lauth beasley, sinead cranna
"During the day, Sol’s is a stylish white-tiled deli where you can live out your countryside farm shop fantasy, and pick up vesuvio tomatoes and doorstop sandwiches. Come evening, the Bayswater spot turns into a wine bar where pleasure is poured in the form of chilled Côtes du Rhône and couples who share a NOW TV login touch knees. The modern European dishes on the blackboard menu is a bit-of-this, bit-of-that simple, but with a hint of show-off. Sit in the indoor or outdoor stools by the big bay windows, they’re the best in the house." - heidi lauth beasley, rianne shlebak, sinead cranna
"Sol’s has the kind of gorgeous aesthetic that makes us want to bring our most photography-savvy friend, so we can get a heavily directed, candid picture in front of the dark wooden windows out front while we hold a glass from their European-focused wine list. During the day they’ll be serving hefty focaccia sandwiches, but come evening there’s a menu of Mediterranean-inspired small plates. We checked out Sol's and added it to the Hit List. "Every chiller—insider term, don’t mind us—has an origin story. Ours involves Sol’s, a holiday-feel Bayswater wine bar that’s home to the ruby Côtes du Rhône that convinced us to pursue a life dedicated to low-degree and low-intervention chat. Outside of the must-order Carambouille, sitting at the bar by the big bay windows, twirling your glass, and nibbling on a gilda is one of our favourite ways to pretend we’re Greta Garbo in the midst of a hot affair with grenache noir. " - heidi lauth beasley
"You might have to leave work early to get a table at Sol’s on a weeknight, but it will absolutely be worth it. The modern European food at this Bayswater wine bar is a bit-of-this, bit-of-that simple, but there’s a hint of show-off—patatas bravas that are cooked to crispy-edged perfection, and rich dark chocolate mousse with a layer of herbal, smooth olive oil and sea salt crunch on top. It’s small, but there’s plenty of seating around the central table. If you’re coming for date night, try to secure two of the indoor or outdoor stools by the big bay windows.
