Stopped by to grab dinner to go. I got half black rice/half sweet potato noodles, beets, cucumbers and grilled lemongrass chicken. The warm sides didn’t look that fresh or appetizing so decided to get two cold sides. I also got the edamame hummus with wonton chips. But everything just tasted greasy and lacked flavor (aside from the chicken), even the two sauces that you can pick were so oily.

This is my first time there. I had the noodles with the rice and chicken. That sauce! Wow! 😲 It was really flavourful ... I will say, it is scrumptious to say the least. Cooked to perfection and fresh. Customer service was awesome .The woman behind the counter answered to all of my questions, what was the most popular and also suggested what to try. She gave me plenty and my belly was full. I look forward to going there this week.. I work right up the street.

Nice chipotle style food for Asian fusion. I like their sticky purple rice. Their flavor is there. I could easily taste garlic all over. Their sides are good as well. I tried the roasted Brussel sprouts and eggs and tomatoes. They have so many options. Their sauces are also legit. They have a house made chili oil. With that said - their 5 spice pork could be more tender. Portion sizes could be larger as well (bowl is kinda small). But you can definitely get full if you eat rice or peanut noodles. You probably won't get full if you get salad and some sides lol.

Sooooo good. I saw the good reviews and I thought it was going to be too good to be true but I inhaled my bowl it was that tasty. I ordered the grilled tofu bowl with baby bok choy, Brussels sprouts and black rice. I loved all of it. I especially loved the baby bok choy and am very happy I decided to try the black rice because it was lovely. I highly recommend. I got the ginger sesame sauce and didn’t even use it. I also got the Korean chili aioli which was fabulous.

This was impeccable. As someone who is of Asian descent but brought up in the west this was the perfect combination of flavours and truly some of the best fusion I’ve ever had. The variety of options this place offers and the portions are so satisfying!! The unique original touches like the edamame hummus were complete bliss. And I don’t think I’ve ever had such good and traditional tasting tomato and egg from a restaurant , and from a fusion place especially. Service was also gorgeous. I’m enamoured. Will be back

The food here is amazing! I had the Lemon grass chicken, with sweet potato noodles, sweet potatoes and Brussels sprouts. I added the corn and edamame (extra charge, but totally worth it). I chose the miso ginger vinaigrette, which is a perfect finish.

The menu at Som Bo was an exquisite journey through flavours and textures. Each dish was work of art, beautifully presented and perfectly executed. Mine favourite dish was grilled steak.Highly recommended!

I like how this is like a salad place where you can choose your base and toppings. Fast service and good food. Pretty cheap too and amazing Brussels sprouts. Lots of space inside to sit and eat.

Food is good for a quick meal and some decent fusion options. The bowl is mainly a lot of rice on the bottom with two sides and a protein on top. Don't be fooled by the size of the bowl since it's most likely 60-70% rice and 30-40% everything else. Regardless it's a good portion size if you're not looking to stuff yourself. Service was fast and easy at the time we went and the ambiance was pretty casual. It's a good spot to go to after a workout or run.

First time trying it after my coworker recommended it. I got the steak bowl . It was pretty flavorful. You get to pick 2 carbs , 1 cold side , 1 hot side and a protein . Very similar to chipotle and cava .

This has got to be one of my favorite take out places in New York. The exterior is noticeable and has a great location in Chelsea. The glass windows are very transparent and the store front isn't too big. Walking in, you walk through a line where you place your order and they put it in your bowl for you. This reminds me of Chipotle but Asian style dishes and ingredients used. Overall, everything moved very quickly and I was excited to assemble my bowl. The portions are definitely on the decent size and the juices on the food definitely flow. Protein wise I'm a big fan of the steak and the chicken - sauce wise would definitely recommend getting their signature soy based sauce and scallion oil. The cook on everything was good and the flavor profile was my favorite part. Definitely will be back for more!

My Pickleball team just buried the alleged 1 seed "Its Kosher" 6 feet under Chelsea Piers. The Fermented Cucumbers are now 1-4 on the year, and we have our eyes set on the playoffs. We came into Som Bo post game as we needed a high protein meal to keep this train rolling. Sleep on a win and you'll wake up with a loss. I would categorize this place as an Americanized-Asian fusion chipotle like establishment. Me and my allstar teammate, Andrew Zhou, both opted for double chicken bowls. I got a base of half black rice and half sweet potato noodle, and for my two toppings I went with kale and corn. I'm an elite athlete. Chili lime chicken was really dry. Staff was pretty not friendly and really not clear about only 2 sides and not getting any sauce. I only ate about a third of my food before I couldn't really take it anymore. Chipotle or Fle Fle Grill or some other proper Asian fusion establishment would be much better and worth the money.

I've ordered here before and have gotten the chili Lime chicken bowl and it was great. This time around I tried their salmon bowl which came with tomatoes and eggs, sweet potatoe noodles, chili cucumbers which are delightfully spicy ... everything about the meal was great! Will be ordering again!

They close early. Hours are not correct. Hours on door and online say 10:30pm. Arrived at 10:10pm and they were closed. Would be good if they could post accurate hours.

I used to like this place. In fact I walked 20 blocks to come here and have lunch and to my surprise the service was awful and the portions are smaller, less food!. The whole place was so smoky cloudy from the cooking I had to open the door myself. I smelled as if I was cooking all day . This place charges the same amount $$ but now serving less food? Why? Ripping their customers off? That's NOT tight. The food is not bad for fast food but the service and the size are smaller the it was few days ago. The whole experience was mediocre.

Best decision I made today regarding lunch. I got the build your own bowl. The food was fresh and you had an array of ingredients to choose from. I went with the Black rice, roasted Brussels sprouts, cabbage and roasted chicken which was flavorful and delicious. The portion size was decent and the service was fast. Staff was friendly and took time to answer my questions regarding my allergy. Will definitely be adding to my go to lunch spot.

I recently had the opportunity to visit a restaurant that lets you make your own bowls, and I have to say, it was a really enjoyable experience. One of the things I loved about this restaurant was the wide variety of ingredients available to choose from. I opted for a bowl with steak, Brussel sprouts, rice, and noodles, and I was really happy with my selection. The steak was cooked to perfection and had a great depth of flavor, and the Brussel sprouts were crispy and well seasoned. The rice and noodles added some nice texture and bulk to the bowl, and the whole thing was topped off with a flavorful sauce. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys making their own custom meals. The ingredients were fresh and well prepared, and the process was fun and easy. I love the food, but paid $11.68 extra for 2 extra sides of beets (in a cup) and 1 extra side avocado. They left out 3 of the warm sides we had ordered (broccoli, broccoli, kale) and mixed the cold sides into the warm food instead. I want a refund of the extra sides. Impossible because nobody ever answers the phone, I have been calling for 3 days. It goes directly to full voice mail.

One of the better Asian fusion establishments. Their meals are fresh, light, healthy and very filling. They have limited seating.

Straight out of the subway, spacious, clean looking, smells yummy, prompt and polite staff and knowledgeable about the options. I took the order to go. It is served in recyclable containers (+!!). The food portion is quite consistent. I would split it in 1/2 but for bigger hunger, go for it ! A little salty for my taste, though full of flavors ! Really nice mix of healthy ingredients ! Whatever the spices are, really different ! Good spot in this neighborhood.

I came in during the peak of Omicron in the city to grab a quick bowl to eat in the sanitized sanctuary that was my sister's living room and I was pleasantly surprised by the food! There was only one other customer in the store at the time, picking up an order, because all the chairs were flipped up due to Covid safety precautions. The staff who helped me were incredibly patient and kind when I said I needed to take a moment to parse the menu. Maybe it was due to our shared trauma of enduring sub-freezing temperatures that whole week (in January). With that said, the food was good but nothing I would go out of my way for. I wish I were able to select at least one more side to go with my bowl. If I'm in the area again and hankering for some fast casual Asian fusion, Som Bo is on the list!

Insanely delicious to the point that I was second-guessing their published calorie counts - could a piece of tofu so flavorful really only be 75 calories? For my maiden voyage with Som Bo, I accompanied said tofu with the charred Brussels and broccoli, as well as the spicy cucumbers, all over a bed of yam noodles. The Brussels and broccoli were very flavorful, and heavily infused with soy sauce marinade. The cucumbers were not my absolute favorite, but helpful as a slightly lighter counterbalancing flavor if you're getting some of the other rich ingredients in a bowl. Will be back soon!

Wow! Pricey, but worth it. For me, it is on the really high end of my lunch budget, but the food quality is able to match the price. I like the selection because I was able to get this: Chili Lime Chicken - $11.02: (Purple Rice, Sweet Potato Noodles with Carrots and Scallions (Contains Soy) (Vegan), Curry lentils (Vegan), Miso Kale & Kimchi Salad (Contains Soy) (Vegan)(Cold), Korean Chili Aioli). I love the mix as well as the flavor. I also got a Matcha Oatmilk Latte ($3.95?) which was also super flavorful yet subtle. Will come back occasionally for lunch. The service was really nice and the workers were friendly.

***Delivery order review*** We had the grilled tofu and poached salmon bowls. You can customize your bowls with a base of your choice and two sides. Delivery was quick and food was warm when delivered. Food is very healthy yet filling and I would definitely try this place again.

Got the grilled chicken, sweet potato noodles, brussel sprouts, and tomato & egg. Everything was overly greasy! The tomato and egg was the only part I'd eat again. Everything else felt oily - the noodles were literally dripping in oil! Would not recommend. Feels like something you'd get from a very cheap asian takeout place.

This place is such a gem! Their Lychee Hibiscus Tea is the greatest thing I've ever tried. It was refreshing. Each bowl, you get to choose what you put in. It's almost like a Chipotle but for Asian fusion. I put fried tofu and sweet potato noodles topped with bokchoy and edamame slaw! I paired it with the Korean chili aioli. The flavor of the aioli was hardly noticeable, but I was also expecting something spicier. I do want to try their other sauces next time. The service was quick. We were able to order our food and receive it immediately. The staff was really nice.

This Yelp review is incorrect. Som Bo, offering a promising version of the "Chipotle of..." genre, is impressive in its delivery time. But this speed also perhaps caused the multiple errors in the order. Is it awful of me to complain during these tough times? I do hopefully speak favorably about the 99% of places who provide the stated items. And a review is a snapshot in time, maybe it was a one-time thing. The pork bowl, closer to the actual Chipotle than you might expect, had a decent array of vegetables and sauce. More broadly, I don't like the fake branding of "Izakaya Bo," but delivery pseudonyms are not rare these days in the shady world of Uber Eats.

INSANELY DELICIOUS. The food tastes like what it is, not like salt the way it does at neighboring Chipotle. The portions are HUGE, and leave you wondering how this only sets you back 13 bucks! (Steak is a wee bit more...) Plus, it's LITERALLY across the street from me. I am indeed blessed.

I feel bad giving a lower rating during COVID but this was just really not worth the money. I got a bowl with black rice, brussels sprouts, sweet potato, and lemongrass chicken. The brussels sprouts were very salty and didn't have much flavor beyond the saltiness, and the sweet potatoes and chicken were also quite bland. I got a side of scallion chimichurri sauce which was essentially some parsley in oil.

i really love som bo for quick and healthy take out (curried tofu is amazing) but the listed hours are unreliable. ive walked here multiple times and they were closed down early. if youre hungry within an hour of their posted close time i would probably find another place

Delicious fast casual Asian "fusion" which is just really bringing Asian flavors closer to home while putting it in a bowl like many of the places that have popped up in the city catering to the quick bite client. The space is definitely in need of a cleanse on a Saturday night but other than that I really enjoyed my flavorful bowl of food which also felt super healthy and clean. Best things I ate were the chimichurri sauce, the beets with the sweet potato noodle which changed color also in a beautiful way. The steak and the salmon are delicious. If you're looking for meat packed dishes you'll have to pay extra. Otherwise it was a great mix of tasty veggies and flavors.

I live for salads and when I found this place, I had to try! Basically this is a salad, nutri-bowls place with an asian twist! I think the pictures can speak for itself. Everything was unique, I built my own bowl. You can choose your base, two toppings and a choice of protein. I got a base of mixed greens and a tiny bit of the sweet potato noodles (just to try). The noodles were like Japchae but less flavorful (great texture!) For toppings, I chose sweet potatoes and bok choy. The sweet potatoes was very unique! Super tasty and has a bit of a chinese spices flavor. (huge portion too!), Bok choy was fresh, crisp and also the staff gave me a ton! My protein was alright, it was a bit bland but I ate it with the soy sauce dressing and it was fine! My company got salmon for protein and she got an enormous piece, such good value! The bowl might seem smaller than some other places, but they actually gave you a ton of food. The staff was very accommodating and friendly, I enjoyed my visit a ton! Really want to go back to try other toppings, since they all looked so good! TLDR - Amazing experience here, good food, good staffs :)

I came in for lunch on a Saturday and got a bowl with brown rice, five spice pork, asian edamame slaw, and kimchi apples, with the miso ginger dressing on the side. It tasted pretty good (though the flavors were pretty mild) and it was very filling. I also got a lychee hibiscus tea - the lychee smell is very strong, but the taste is more subtle (but still sweet). They have 5 tables and a bar against the window for indoor seating. Great place for a quick lunch!

Really disappointed - they've cut their best dish, the Korean short ribs, off the menu! This was the dish I got every weekend. It was incredible and the reason I used up my entire punch card so quickly. Why are the Korean short ribs no longer available? I've tried the chicken and it's okay, but not worth getting too often. Sad!

Finding Keto Friendly restaurants in NYC is difficult. This was a welcome solution. The place is clean and well kept. The staff is helpful. I had a delicious flank steak, with roasted broccoli and roasted brussel sprouts. All very fresh and delicious. For a simple meal with ample portions I highly recommend them.

I ordered two of these bowls but only one got delivered. Also, I got the wrong items. Tried calling them several times but no one was answering and you can't leave a message on their voicemail. You also can't reply to the email order confirmation. Too bad I was actually excited to try out their food, but now I'm so disappointed I just lost my appetite.

I love the concept of fast casual Asian food, especially since this reminded me of an Asian 'Dig Inn', although I'm not sure I would order delivery again. I got the lemongrass chicken as my main and my base was purple rice. My two sides were miso kale & kimchi salad and sichuan chili cucumbers. The salad was basically kale with a few pieces of kimchi thrown in there so I wasn't impressed, and the cucumbers were probably my favorite of the entire bowl. Everything else was pretty flavorless. Overall, I would try again if I'm in the area, but I was pretty disappointed. The food did feel 'light' though!

I live in the neighborhood and Som Bo is my go to vegetarian- friendly spot for a tasty, healthy, and affordable meal that we can't make easily at home My boyfriend and I have picked up or gotten som bo delivered about 10 times at this point. That alone is a very good sign- loyalty to nyc restaurants is rare with so many options at our fingertips! I always get a tofu bowl and my boyfriend always gets a salmon bowl. We always both get the sweet potato glass noodles as a base, usually charred broccoli or Brussel sprouts, and then the miso kale kimchi salad or roasted sweet potatoes. I recently got into the lentils and the Tomato and eggs. They're both also great. We've always been happy with the quality and the portions. We love Asian inspired food and it's great to have a place that's not too oily but still delivers on the flavor. As always, the sauce is key. Som bo has ~10 great options and I haven't met a sauce I didn't like. We're loyal som go-ers and we'll continue to be!

It seems like every week there's a new, nameless lunch spot with choose-your-own-toppings that claims to be "healthy." They serve you a measly bowl of greasy veggies, claiming to be revolutionary to your diet. You can barely keep track, can you? Well, I'm glad to report that SomBo is different and it's here to blow those other places away. First off, everything at SomBo is friggin' delicious. They tout local, fresh, small-batch goods--and you can really tell. The quality is consistent (so gone are the days where you gamble with that questionably dry chicken breast behind the glass), and there's sincerely nothing here that I haven't thought was genuinely tasty. My favorite is the roast cod, with scallion chimichurri sauce, and charred Brussels sprouts. THOSE BRUSSEL SPROUTS. The tempura avocado might be a little splurge for your lunch, but on a treat yourself day, it's worth every penny. I also appreciate any spot that helps me get my Viet coffee fix without going to Chinatown--that stuff is crack. This has easily become my favorite lunch spot. Try it out, and it might be yours too.

My absolute favorite quick eats in NYC. It's always so fresh and healthy. The steak is great and the sweet potato pasta is soooo good. Highly recommend this spot.

I really enjoyed the food here. The options seemed limited with foods I would like but the food was delicious. I ordered the lemon grass chicken which was the star of my bowl. It was perfectly seasoned and moist. The black rice was really good: chewy in a sticky rice way -a little nutty and sweet. I got the Asian slaw which was a special for the day and the garlic French beans. Both complemented my food choices perfectly. I tried the sweet soy sauce, the chimchurri and the Korean spicy aioli and the Korean spicy aioli wins hands down for the chicken. The food is like a better dig inn in my opinion but the interior has a sweet green set up. It can accommodate small to medium groups of people and they offer free infused water.

I tried a build your own bowl with grilled lemongrass chicken plus szechuan chili cucumbers and roasted corn & edamame - definitely one of the best delivery meals I've had! The chicken was grilled to perfection and the portion size was very filling. The ingredients are simple, the food is affordable and guilt-free, and the flavors are exciting. Wish I discovered this place way earlier!

WARNING: This restaurant never delivered my dinner last night. I have made several attempts to reach them to no avail. I have ordered from them before and everything was fine, I liked the food. But I ordered a dinner last night at 7:40 p.m. It said it would arrive in an hour. I got an email and a text saying my food would be delivered by around 8:30 p.m. The food never came. I tried calling. I got a voice mailbox that was full. I tried a half hour later (at 9:45 p.m.) and someone picked up. She told me that while I placed the order, it did not go through the system properly. She asked if I wanted a refund or for it to be delivered. I said I was really hungry and just wanted my dinner. She said it would be made within 10 minutes and delivered right away. BUT IT NEVER ARRIVED. I have been trying to call the restaurant since they opened today. My calls go to the voicemail box that's full. I tried sending an email to their catering account and never heard back. This is a horrible way to treat a customer. I'm sorry to write this review but it's the only way I have now to get their attention. If they call and apologize and make me whole I will take this down. Or at least explain that they had some issue. But blowing off a customer and taking their money is the worst.

I wanted to like this place but the bowl I got was disappointing along with the service. I went to order and the staff told me to go to the cashier first. When I went to the cashier she told me to order first and go back to the person who told me to go to her first. Really unprofessional. They were out of white rice and they suggested that I get brown rice. The brown rice was terrible as it was very hard. The chicken was also dry and bland.

Now that poke is saturated, Chinese is the next big fast casual concept that will start taking over, with a couple great spots opening recently, including this one that just soft opened yesterday. This is more of an "Asian fusion" concept than straight Chinese, especially given white rice isn't even given as one of the base options. That choice reflects the goal here of offering much healthier options than typical fast Asian options. You can get brown rice, farro, Sweet Potato Noodles, Spaghetti Squash or Salad as the bases, and chicken, steak, short rib, salmon or tofu as the main proteins. There are also plenty of great fresh vegetables and sauces to mix and match too. I tried the signature Korean Steak and Tofu & Greens Bowls ($11 each), which were both delicious. They were satisfying without making you feel heavy and gross afterward, which is exactly what most people are looking for in fast casual these days. I would definitely hit this up for lunch regularly if in the Chelsea area.

The sauces are really good, especially the ginger scallion sauce or whatever they called it here. I'm glad you can #serve yourself. I keep wanting #to come back. I even get a notification every day about this place from the app and have let it notify me for months. You would think it would drive a person crazy seeing the same notification every day. But I'm fine with it. That's how much I enjoyed the #free bowl. The only reason why I haven't come back yet is because it's just a little too far of a walk from my work. And the weather has #gotten too cold and I've been a little too busy at work. Some day though. #Som day.

Som Bo is a decent place for lunch if you are craving some pan-Asian fusion food. Like all bowl-based fast-casual joints, you get to choose a base, a protein, and two sides (or a base and three sides if you forego the protein). I came to Som Bo late Wednesday afternoon for a free bowl during a Crave promotion. I really liked the variety in bases (farro, sweet potato vermicelli, brown rice, and salad) and their sauces (highly recommend the Korean chili aioli). I ordered the tofu bowl ($10.10) with Sichuan chili cucumbers (chilled cukes dressed in sesame oil and Sichuan chili peppers) and baby bok choy (stir-fried with ginger and garlic). My only complaint is that the tofu was advertised as "marinated in gluten-free citrus-infused soy" and I did not taste any of that. Even with the grill marks, the slice of tofu was flavorless.

Great veggie bowl options. And the sauces are the winner here--the cilantro scallion sauce is so dang good!

If it isn't a distance away from where I live! I might get this almost every day. The selections are amazing and the flavoring of the food is absolutely delicious. Everything is cooked freshly, starting off with your base then to two sides and then your protein. I believe if you like to add a additional side it'll be extra for it. Staff was friendly, very helpful. They checked to see if it's your first time, kind of guide you how it works. But honestly I looked at the menu on their website first to see what they are offering. There's a great seating area, great for a quick lunch/dinner grab n go type of chain. P.s if you check in on yelp they'll give you a complimentary drink :)
