SomiSomi is Now Serving Soft Serve Stuffed Taiyaki at Katy Grand - Eater Houston

"SomiSomi, a California ice cream chain known for its vivid swirls of soft serve, has officially arrived in Katy. The new ice cream destination opened its doors at 23330 Grand Circle Boulevard, Suite 150, in Katy over the weekend. As Eater reported previously, the Katy outpost is the first of two SomiSomi locations currently in the works for Houston — another is set to open in SugarLand in the coming months. An Instagram darling, SomiSomi serves up several different flavors of soft serve, including matcha, ube, black sesame, Oreo, and coffee, along with a rotating selection of those flavors swirled together. The soft serve can be served in a (boring) cup or freshly-baked taiyaki (fish-shaped) ice cream cone that’s filled with custard, red bean paste, or Nutella. For folks who want to skip the ice cream, SomiSomi also serves taiyaki filled with cheddar, taro, or red bean paste and cream cheese." - Amy McCarthy

Google
**5 stars!** We had such a great experience at Somi Somi in Katy. The ice cream was amazing—we tried dulce de leche, ube, and matcha, and every flavor was smooth, rich, and just the right amount of sweet. The taiyaki was fresh, warm, and had no greasy taste, which we really appreciated. The customer service was top-notch. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and offered great suggestions that helped us pick the perfect combos. You can tell they really care about making sure you enjoy your visit. Highly recommend if you're looking for a unique and delicious dessert spot!

Google
A delightful surprise! Unlike the fish-shaped cakes I’ve had before, this one is made from glutinous rice, giving it a crispy mochi-like texture. The filling is also impressive—not too sweet, with authentic matcha and black sesame flavors. The ice cream has a smooth and creamy texture, perfectly balanced without being overly sweet or rich. Every flavor is well-matched—simply perfect!

Google
Long lines! Because they are that good! We love the ice cream and fish pastries here! The dude manning the fish pastry is so fast and efficient at his job. Expect a wait, but they do crank out the desserts pretty fast, so the wait after paying isn't long.

Google
Finally, we got to go. It's such a cool place and great tastes for desserts. Staff is very friendly and informative. Place was spotless, which i a plus for me. Definitely will be back!

Google
Just a heads up, you can’t mix and match the soft serves, however there are “swirls” that they rotate I believe in a weekly basis. You can also change the filling of the taiyaki. I tried the red bean filling and it thankfully wasn’t too sweet. For those that care, the presentation of my ice-cream was very instagrammable, which made it even more appetizing. This is a very heavy dessert so I would keep that in mind. Although the taste of the soft serve wasn’t anything to write home about, the experience was well worth the visit.

Google
This dessert is as cute as it gets. The ice cream was delicious and smooth with Asian flavors like bean, sesame, matcha.

Google
The serving size is so small at this location. Other somi somi locations give double the amount of ice cream. I also had fruity pebbles inside which I did not ask for.

Google
Tried the Ah-Boong upside down and really enjoyed them. I got Matcha custard filling with Matcha and Thai tea swirl soft serve, and my wife got Nutella filling with Ube and Cookies and Cream swirl soft serve. The taiyaki was crispy and the soft serve was creamy and delicious!

Yelp
WOW! Can I give 6/5 stars!? This was my first time visiting Somisomi and I will be craving this from IL! This shop offers soft serve as well as "taiyaki" which has a waffle like outside, mochi like inside, and can be filled with flavors. Mouth watering yet? I ordered the Upside Down Ahboong with the matcha and ube soft serve swirled, with a smaller taiyaki filled with custard put on it. They also have optional sprinkle topping (i chose graham cracker) and a garnish (i chose macaroon cookie). The final product had the cutest look and I can vouch that it tasted even better! I also tried the horchata and Milk & Thai Tea soft serve but liked mine the most. They will rotate what flavors are swirled to keep things interesting. Either way, visit as you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
We visited on a busy Saturday night, but despite the crowd, the line moved surprisingly fast. I ordered the upside-down soft serve with matcha and milk soft serve with a Nutella filling. Unfortunately, they got the filling wrong and gave me matcha custard instead--but honestly, I didn't even mind because it was still delicious! The texture was incredibly soft and velvety, and the service was quick. Even with the mix-up, I left happy and would definitely come back to try more flavors!

Yelp
Another great trip to Somisomi. I wish this place would disappoint me so I can cut some calories, but I always make a stop here when in the area. Their soft serve is super smooth and the flavors are spot on. This was the first time trying the Taiyaki, which is a waffle batter shaped into a fish with a filling of your choosing. They offer 2 for $4.50, which is a pretty decent deal. I tried red bean and black sesame filling. It was very very hot, but a tasty treat! Need to try the other flavors soon, and I am looking forward to new soft serve flavors! Pro tip: parking is near impossible if you go on the weekend, so try the parking lot across the street or at the strip center behind Somisomi.
google avatar

Nancy C.

Yelp
I could eat soft serve all day long. We stopped by for a treat and boy was it a treat! We chose the upside down ahboong which is a cup filled with soft serve and a taiyaki fish on top. I went with cookies and cream soft serve and taiyaki with black sesame filling. I almost chose the custard filling but was concerned it might be too sweet. The gentleman behind the counter suggested black sesame instead and it was a great recommendation. The soft serve was smooth and not too sweet. The taiyaki was super crispy and the inside black sesame paired very well. Yum!

Yelp
Love SomiSomi! The chai tea ice cream flavor, my fav! Taste just like the tea. And the custard inside the waffle, it's a must! Service and ambiance is good, the only thing if you go on weekend, the lane is pretty long, but once you order, they'll give your food right away
google avatar

Jacquelyn C.

Yelp
Super quick service and the soft serve flavors are always yummy. The ahboong are always made to order and come out hot and crispy. We also tried the seasonal hotteok taiyaki which was super delicious but very sweet.
google avatar

Briana N.

Yelp
Super good value for some super good desserts! And the taiyaki was bigger than I expected! They make it all fresh to order so when you get your order, it's hot, it's crispy, it's delicious! (Also the cheese one is sooo good, everyone's sleeping on that flavor.) The soft serve is also amazing and they have a lot of good Asian flavors. Only complaint is that the whole plaza is so so busy and it's a nightmare to find parking.

Yelp
Somisomi Is so so yummy yummy. I'm liking this location out in Katy. A little small within the interior, but most locations seem to be that way. It's a grab and go ice cream spot that fills up quickly. The lines are long yet it moves rather fast. Customer service is good and you get to watch your dessert being made. I've always liked Korean style soft serve. So fluffy, soft and creamy. Very milky as well and not too sweet. They seem to often have a new flavor and that is what I like about this spot. They had a sweet corn flavor mixed with their horchata flavor and it was good. A bit more on the mellow side but it still has a nice aroma and flavor. Their crispy fish shaped waffle is so yummy. I love loading it up with vanilla custard. Their dusting of matcha on top of soft serve is chef's kiss. Flavors are good and portions are plenty. You can't go wrong with SomiSomi as a cooling and creamy dessert option after having savory bite to eat within the area. With so much to see and do in this part of town, it's no wonder that SomiSomi is on the list for something delectable while out in this part of town. Creamy and dreamy. Until we meet again!

Yelp
Delicious cream custard options and toppings. Clean and organized space. Order did not take long and front associate was able to answer all my questions etc.
google avatar

Yelp
Solid dessert spot!!! Their taiyaki is my favorite. I usually get the custard filling. The outside is crispy and the inside is soft and chewy. My sister and I shared an upside down ahboong and got the matcha and banana milk swirl, but I wasn't the biggest fan of the combination. Their soft serve is still great and creamy. We got to choose our toppings but not much could fit. Any more than 3 toppings would not stick since the surface was covered. Always appreciate how they top it off with a macaron. Employees are kind and friendly. Doesn't take more than 10 min for the dessert to come out! No seating, just tables for standing. Parking can be hectic in Katy Asian town depending on when you go!
google avatar

Nick R.

Yelp
The service here is amazing they're always smiling! The dessert was delicious a friend recommended this place and glad she did. Ambiance was great I'm definitely coming back.
google avatar

Chantel C.

Yelp
Love this place! The cookies n cream with Nutella base is my favorite. It's not too sweet, and it's super creamy. I top mine with extra oreo crumbs. And what would it be with the fresh waffle codfish cone. They're reasonably priced and the staff is friendly. They don't have seating inside, but there is a bench just outside their door.
google avatar

Yumna A.

Yelp
Best soft serve ice cream in Houston. Fast service even when the line is out the door. No seating unfortunately which is the only con. So excited they've opened up a more central location on Westheimer!
google avatar

Eryana S.

Yelp
There is no seating! It's quite small but packs up quickly because of how iconic this place is. I got the mix of matcha and banana milk soft serve. I love matcha, and so the flavor was just right. The banana milk, honestly, I did not really love. I've had banana milk itself from the carton, and for some reason I did not put the 2 and 2 together that this was not banana ice cream. It's banana milk ice cream. Banana milk has its own distinct flavor, and that's exactly what it was. It's true to its name I just didn't realize. When you're picking up your order you can add oreos or fruity pebbles, or sprinkles with no extra cost. That was pretty cool. I highly recommend this place if you want a solid soft serve!
google avatar

Yelp
I wasn't sure if I'd like it but I DO! My youngest has multiple food allergies and they have this list of allergens for me to peruse before I ordered. Super friendly staff! I ended up getting a few things: Milk and Chocolate Swirl in a cup: this is for my youngest. You can add toppings like sprinkles but I opted out, just in case. We did get a strawberry halve on it! Not too sweet and it has a milky taste. Upside down with Horchata soft serve: the horchata was good! Perfect marriage of cinnamon to milk. The taiyaki is stuffed with a filling of your choice so it's not just soft serve in the cup AND in the fish pastry. I got ube in this one. Filled taiyaki - I just randomly picked custard and mint Oreo for this. I didn't taste the Oreo as my daughter gobbled it up but I liked the custard! Not too sweet, perfectly crispy on the outside. I would say it's not filled completely and only in the belly of the fish. I wanted to try their milk tea and black sesame flavors, but they didn't have it when I was there. At least they had horchata? Overall: perfect. The place is open with lots of natural light and seems pretty clean in a shared parking lot that is ample but can get full fast. The treats aren't too sweet and they're fresh. If you order the filled taiyaki, it's an additional 5 minute wait. This is a chain that originates in LA's Korea town... so my apologies for calling it taiyaki throughout the entire review. They should be bunggeobbang. They also have drinks that sounds terribly intriguing - namely that strawberry milk - but I didn't get it since I only have 2 hands and 3 items already. *To note: no eggs in their products except for taiyaki. There is a number of items with coconut but only one with other nuts - the hoddeok filling. Wheat is in the obvious places - cookie flavors, bunggeobbang pastry. If you're vegan... it might be wise to look elsewhere. Most everything contains milk and/or eggs.

Yelp
I can tell this will be around for a long time. I am getting my craving for desserts I ate on my trip to Japan/Korea fulfilled locally in Houston. At the heart of Katy, whether you just finished a bowl of Pho or left the arcade, coming here for a tasty dessert is a must! The lines were out the door but the service was quick. The seasoned workers seemingly can handle the heavy volume with no problem. I ordered the Matcha soft serve and Custard Taiyaki which took around 5-10 minutes of waiting. The "eating" area isn't much but eating it outside is just as delicious. What I appreciate about SomiSomi is that they captivate the flavors of Japanese/Korean desserts; not too sweet but not too plain. I am constantly bombarded by the over-sweetened desserts I find in the States and I am relieved I can come here for desserts that meshes well with my palate.
google avatar

Calvin D.

Yelp
Great staff/service every time I come here. Amazing tasting taste serve ice cream. They had banana milk/cookies and cream and I loved it. Texas heat is no joke so ice cream is a must at this moment. Their taiyaki taste crunchy and is filled with your choice of flavor!
google avatar

Kruti G.

Yelp
I stumbled upon this place while searching for ice cream. They don't give you samples so if you don't like your flavour you are stuck with it! I got the cookies and cream with the Nutella filling. It was sweet but the cone was soft. I liked the concept. The service was okay I could barely hear the person behind the cash register. Ambiance is cute I recommend! Priced around 6-10$ dept on what all you get
google avatar

Ye J.

Yelp
Located in Katy Asian town, plenty of parking available in the plaza. The store is pretty compact; standing room only with long bar tables to rest your arm or put your ice cream on. There were couple traditional Asian and American flavors to pick for the soft serve. It was hard to decide between ube and matcha for my upside down Ahboong. I wish there's a matcha&ube swirl option. I end up getting the ube soft serve with taro filled Taiyaki. The taiyaki was freshly made; warm and soft with the taro filling inside and crispy on the outside. The soft serve has the smooth and creamy texture and the ube flavor is not overly sweet. Somisomi is definitely a nice dessert option compared to all the boba shops in the area.
google avatar

David D.

Yelp
Went and tried out this place after dinner. You know the old saying goto where the line is at and you will find good food. Well we saw this incredibly long line here. It took about 20 minutes to get tot the front and man was it worth it. I got the cookies and cream upside down. Which included cookies and cream ice cream with a taiyaki fish on top. The ice cream was smooth and flavorful. The fish cookie/cake was filled with Nutella and went so well with the ice cream. I would highly recommend recommend going here and getting their upside down if you love ice cream!
google avatar

George R.

Yelp
Wife and I usually hit a dessert place down the way but my son wanted to go to HIS favorite place....and these guys did not disappoint!! Service was fast and courteous which is always great when you're ready for some tasty dessert after a nice meal. No real ambiance to speak about but I like the high, standing tables in front that let you kind of lean on something. All in all, a great place to enjoy alone and also bring the entire family of all ages.
google avatar

Jason Z.

Yelp
One of the more tasty soft serve options available. Located in Katy Asian Town near the southern plaza. There's standing room indoors to eat your ice cream after you order. I prefer the matcha or ube flavors or if they have an interesting mixed swirl. Some like the taiyaki but I prefer more of the soft serve over the fish pastry. A thing of soft serve with a taiyaki comes out to around $7 after tax, so this is definitely a cute date or kid spot. Service is prompt and you do get your offer pretty quick.
google avatar

Jalissa S.

Yelp
So yummy! You have options to have the "cone" or cup. They change up the flavors every few weeks and the ice cream is always very creamy. I love that they have many topping options. Quick service but the shop is pretty small so no chairs and you have to stand up to eat your ice cream.
google avatar

Ayana A.

Yelp
Somisomi was the cutest ice cream (soft serve) spot. It was busy in there on a Saturday night. They had tables so people were enjoying their ice cream indoors because outside was 100+ degrees. They had a couple of flavors including Matcha, Cookies and Creme, Milk, and Ube. We got the Matcha and Cookies and Creme. The servers moved really quickly to take our orders and to create our soft serve. The neatest swirl I have seen for a soft-serve place!! You can choose additional toppings for free like macaroons, cookies, sprinkles, coconut, strawberries, and other things! I would definitely try it again! The soft serve in a cup was $3.95 which is a great price considering what I might pay for something like this in New York. Also, they have cute wallpaper if you want to have a photo opp inside. Check them out!
google avatar

Dianna N.

Yelp
Ideal soft serve ice cream shop for Asians. It's not too sweet! The gold fish waffle cones are adorable and delicious. They offer fun flavors like Ube, Matcha, Horchata, and Cookies 'n Cream. I chose to go with the classic milk (Vanilla). Truly the best vanilla soft serve I've ever had. It has a pure, balanced vanilla flavor and a dense, creamy texture.
google avatar

Nelly N.

Yelp
The service was not good. They could have been a lot more welcoming. The food was tasty but melt very fast! The ambiance is nonexistent. There is no where to sit and they basically want you get your ice cream and leave (stools stacked in front of the bathroom) standing room only! It was a different experience but I wouldn't return.
google avatar

Sarah K.

Yelp
Yum!!!! I want more. Super creamy soft serve style ice cream that is not super sweet! We tried out the milk tea and cookies & cream mix and both were sooo good. Also topped it off with the tiyaki fish and it reminded me of a soft waffle cone in a way. The perfect compliment to the ice cream. Also, the size is shareable so I love that! Prices are reasonable. Thumbs up from me and the fam :)

Sarah D.

Yelp
Creamy ube ice cream paired with a crispy fish-shaped waffle, or taiyaki with red bean.
google avatar

Nick P.

Yelp
Located next door to Sweet honey dessert, this place specializes in taiyaki desserts. It was already busy in the early afternoon on a Saturday. It's mostly for standing and eating, no seating available. There was no line for ordering. I ordered upside down ahboong with taro filling and black manta swirl (matcha and cookies 'n cream). You can watch them make it and they ask if you want any extra toppings (free). I really like the presentation, very aesthetic for social media. The ice cream is very creamy and the taro filling makes it more enjoyable. It was not bland at all. Prices are fair. Service was excellent. Not sure what other people were talking about with bad service
google avatar

Jando S.

Yelp
The SomiSomi chain is quickly spreading into Texas and the burbs of Houston already have several and counting. This location in Katy has been their best location so far and has consequently become my go-to dessert option for post-dinner sweets when in Katy Asian Town. Taiyaki has been a hit in South Korea for years and the ones made here are no different. The matcha / milk / ube / horchata soft serve is good enough to enjoy on its own but it's definitely elevated in taiyaki form. The waffle is crisp and is super tasty. I would recommend eating the ice cream indoors before going out into the humidity, but the taiyaki shell might be too hot to keep it from melting fast. When in doubt, go for their swirls (matcha + ube is quite good) Another reason to love them? They started serving their version of a hotteok, which has been near impossible to find anywhere in Katy / Houston. Instead of the typical stuffed pancake, the fish waffle form is a fun alternative. Service is fairly quick, but they get bogged down with the after-dinner crowd almost nightly. There isn't much counter space and no sweating to speak of. The prices are not back breaking but they're far from cheap. I would recommend having the camera phone ready upon serving and be ready to indulge afterward.
google avatar

Sarah L.

Yelp
Somi Somi is one of my favorite ice cream stores in that I love how creamy everything is while not being overly sweet. There are some places where Ice cream starts feeling sticky sweet but I think the ah-boong helps offset the ice cream a bit. I got the ube + chocolate swirl and the combination was better than having one or the other because the flavors were subtle while having a hint of sweetness. My friend got the matcha by itself and I think it wasn't as good because the matcha is too strong and there's not enough sweetness. Would definitely come again and try new flavors!
google avatar

James R.

Yelp
Absolutely scrumptious spot for dessert lovers! The only hiccup? Parking can be a bit of a challenge. But fear not, any wait in line flies by in a flash. Their unique soft serve ice cream paired with delightful Korean-style waffle cookies/cones is an absolute must-try!
google avatar

Megan W.

Yelp
Best Asian soft serve in HTX, hands down. With a variety of ice cream and taiyaki flavors, there's something for everyone at SomiSomi. I ordered their milk and ube swirl with a custard taiyaki. The soft serve was rich and creamy, and the flavors were strong, which was perfectly paired with the warm taiyaki. I'm hoping to visit again when they have Thai tea or other rotating flavors to try! As for the service, the line was basically out the door, but the wait was not too long. People do crowd around the inside enjoying their ice cream, which makes it a little packed and crowded. Nonetheless, the employees are still patient when taking your order, yet very quick. My strawberry fell off when taking a picture, and the employee gladly gave me another one. Overall, a great experience!
google avatar

Thuy P.

Yelp
Every time when I'm at Asian town I had to stop by and get some and this time I bought all the 5 flavors (Oreo, Nutella, original cream, red beans and taro) and taro still the best and even though I don't like Taro. The place is packed during the weekend so we had to wait for a while but it's well worth it.

WHAT! The best custard fish I've had in the US, even though it's a chain. Kevin's in Toronto is my fave, but down here it doesn't get better than Somi Somi. What to get: Custard Flavour Taiyaki What not to get: Takoyaki or Teriyaki - not the same thing and they don't sell them here What? Fish with custard: It's not actual fish. It's a dessert that's shaped like a fish. But ew, it tastes like fish?!: It literally only tastes like pastry and custard. It's so good. No fish. And no I'm not catfishing you. There's no fish involved, period. If you want some of the best little custard fish AKA Taiyaki, then you won't get much better than this. They taste amazing and will burn your mouth because they're so hot, which I recommend, because everything is better piping hot. I don't love the other flavours, but Barbi likes some of them. Personally I think that the custard ones are magnificent, and that's the way to go. It's the traditional flavour anyway, so it's the place to start. The Nutella ones are excellent too. I know that it's a chain that is all over the place, but it's very much worth your time. When you're in Katy, I highly suggest you try both this chain, and the SweetHoney chain next to it. Really delicious stuff. And that calls for another round of rap. Pro sport may be rigged, so let's eat some RIGATONI I'm feeling kinda lonely so let's make some CANNELONI It's cold in Minnesota so let's warm up MINESTRONE And if you want some warm custard then come try SOMI SOMI I have the best browser, like Trace Adkins it's so CHROMEY To view Barbi's tongue out eye roll pix she calls LOBOTOMY Bots Wanna rig elections like when Trump's in GABORONE But you can't rig the taste of perfect treats at SOMI SOMI Now I have to do a Channing Tatum to Ginuwine's PONY And girls out there should know I'm kinda LONELY And girls from Missouri, feel free to SHOW ME Anything you like and then we'll go to SOMI SOMI WHAT

Yelp
Fast service, created my own ice cream fish! loved the fish waffle filling with nutella so much i bought a pack of just the fish and nutella themselves. No seating inside but stand up tables available. Benches are near just outside!
google avatar

Fazley R.

Yelp
You gotta go upside down and fill up with the Nutella or the custard. The soft serve is really good. Toppings galore at the end. Just come here and try it, you don't be disappointed.
google avatar

Sheila G.

Yelp
I saw someone eating this ice cream after I just finished lunch and was curious to try it, so glad I did! The 'ice cream' was thick... not quite frozen yogurt but not ice cream. Maybe like a custard? All I know is that with every bite I was satisfied and saying MMMMMM! There are only a handful of flavor options & 3 weekly swirl options, then you pick if you want a cup or 'fish cone' they have an actual name but I forgot. AND u get to pick what your cone is filled with! I did yellow custard filled cone with the milk & ube swirl. I didn't feel the dessert was overly sweet but my sis did help me eat it as we're not huge dessert people. Would definitely go back and recommend

Yelp
I ordered sweet milk flavor in a gold fish-shaped waffle cone! I also had powdered Oreo cookies as a topping. The place is super busy, vibrant with the behind-the-scenes happenings. You can enjoy watching the workers making the beautiful gold fish wafers and also enjoy seeing when they're sprinkling the ice cream with lots of toppings and options they have! This place is full of families with children. A little loud but that's ok! Get ready to stand in line for a few minutes which is not bad because this gives you time to figure out what to order and to observe what other people are getting! Staff is young, friendly , and helpful

Yelp
Cute little shop. You order inside and go, no where to sit. It's something between a soft serve and ice cream, served in fish shaped waffles or in a cup. Not too sweet, easy on the taste buds. Very tasty, only wish they were closer to me because I know I'll be craving it again soon.

Yelp
This spot is situated in a strip mall full of other Asian bakeries/dessert spots and restaurants. Truly an abundance of options! My brother and mom got the upside down ahboong ($6.45) cookies and cream with Oreo cookie powder and a strawberry. It was very yummy and the waffle was super cute and added a nice crunch to the soft serve.

Yelp
Small cute spot! I got a mango flavored waffle cone with coconut flakes, and a small macaroon. Also had a Guava soft serve with fruity pebble cereal, and a strawberry to top it all off. I loved how creamy the ice cream was. Their was a line once I walked in but very quick service.definitely returning to try their different flavors!

Yelp
This chain of ice cream and taiyaki never fails. I've had SomiSomi in California and now in Texas and they were both up to standard. I love how creamy and flavorful the ice cream is, and it's not too sweet. Their taiyaki is quite crunchy. They offer new flavors and changes combinations of flavors every so often. I also appreciate the extra macaron or strawberry that you get to choose at the end when choosing your toppings.

Yelp
Thursday 7/27/23 at 7pm I made a delightful stop at SOMISOMI to cool off from the scorching Texas heat. At SOMISOMI, I discovered their unique Korean dessert called "Ah-Boong." This delightful treat features a fish-shaped waffle cone that is filled with a heavenly selection of ingredients and crowned with luscious soft serve ice cream. The cozy ice cream shop also offers a special snack called TAIYAKI, a warm fish-shaped waffle filled with an array of mouthwatering options like custard, taro, and red beans. The soft serve ice cream at SOMISOMI is available in a variety of flavors, and they even have enticing mix combinations to choose from. You can enjoy it either in a charming fish-shaped cone or a classic cup. Personally, my favorite choice is the Ube flavor. Its creamy and smooth texture, combined with its velvety consistency and melt-in-your-mouth experience, truly sets it apart. To elevate your ice cream experience, there are various filling and topping options available, such as a slice of fresh strawberry or a small macaroon as a delightful finishing touch. While you're there, don't miss the opportunity to try their TAIYAKI. These delectable fish-shaped waffles come in a variety of fillings, but my personal favorite is the custard. Fresh from the pan, the crispy exterior unveils a delightful burst of warm, creamy custard, striking a perfect balance of sweetness and texture. TAIYAKI can be ordered in sets of 2 or 5. Overall, I'm thoroughly impressed with this place. The outstanding service, affordable prices compared to other soft serve ice cream shops, and undeniable quality speak for themselves. I highly recommend anyone in the area to stop by for a refreshing treat, you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
In search of something sweet in Katy Asian Town, a couple of friends I decided to check out SomiSomi. I have never had taiyaki before, so this was definitely a cool spot to be introduced to it. Each of us ended up getting the upside down taiyaki with soft serve. Taiyaki is a fish shaped waffle pastry. I went with my tried and true favorite flavor cookies 'n cream. The taiyaki was toasted and filled with a filling of your choice. I went with Nutella. It was presented beautifully and definitely pic worthy. The soft serve was good, but quickly melted with the warm taiyaki sitting on top of it. I ate most of the ice cream before going at the upside down cone. The taiyaki was warm and the Nutella filling with just a little bit of ice cream made for a delicious bite. Not a bite was left and we all left satisfied. I would definitely come back if in the area.

Yelp
Most creamy and delicious soft serve! Their Taiyaki is made fresh and not too sweet with the option of different fillings! I love their Milk Tea Flavor so much because it is not super strong but has a nice after taste and I would definitely recommend it if you don't know what to order. I also got their ube flavor which is really good as well. The workers were super nice as well and it was super fast. They don't have any sit down tables but have some standing ones. This means that you probably can't stay and hang out here but on the other hand, it isn't too crowded.

Yelp
Screaming for this ice cream! The best soft severe I have ever had. Every time I am in Houston, I go almost every day. Love the classic milk flavor and even though I am lactose intolerant I will suffer every time. I like to get it in the upside down ahboong style as well. Their taiyaki is tasty and may be my favorite part. I always keep it classic and go with a custard filling. I will be thinking about SomiSomi until I can get it again!

Yelp
Somi somi is such a cute place. They have instructions on how to order your food on the menu. So basically you choose how you want your ice cream constructed ( in the fish , the fish upside down, and one more way) then you tell them what filling you want in the fish ( Nutella , custard. Two other flavors ) you pick your ice creme and then at the end they ask you what toppings you want. You can also buy a waffle on the side. I had the taro and milk, with custard filling and fruity pebbles and a macaroon topping. It was delicious!
