I'm going to be totally honest with you, I ordered online to-go from here because I was picking up a limited drop pint from Besame's trailer. That being said, it did not disappoint, so I'm glad I took a chance on trying something new yesterday.
I played it safe with a patty melt and a side of fries. Turns out, I didn't need the fries because the sandwich was very filling. They use a thicker bread similar to Texas toast, but not quite it. Even though I took my meal (8 mins) home, the griddling of the bread retained a crunch for the first bite. The pickles on the sandwich were also on the thicker side but had a sweet-spicy tang to them to help cut through the sauce and burger patty. I'd like to say I savored it, but it was consumed in under 5 minutes.
Do you love potatoes? Have you heard of Sidewinder fries? This is the only place I've seen them in Austin. The only other place I'd seen having them on the menu was at a po'boy joint in New Orleans. It's almost as if a steak fry and seasoned curly fries had a baby. Great for dunking in ketchup and I'd imagine great as a base for loaded fries.
The guy working the trailer was super nice. When I let him know it was my first time trying their food, he let me know they just got there about 3 months ago. They're in the middle of having the trailer painted by an artist, so don't judge a book by its cover here. Also, had I known this was a chicken sandwich trailer, I'd have gone that route, but I'll save that for the next time I'm at Meanwhile.
