"Sonny’s is so much more than your typical Westside sports bar. With great IPAs on tap, extremely heavy pours, and bartenders who genuinely do not give a f*ck, it reminds us of drinking spots on the East coast (in a good way). BTW, this place is really into the Patriots, Bruins, Celtics, and Sox." - kat hong, james montgomery
"Most sports bars get pretty wild on Sundays, but few are as fun as Sonny McLean’s, the Boston bar in Santa Monica. It’s especially fun during games, when you can join people named Sully and Fitzy in screaming at the TV and calling anyone who turns the ball over “a bum.” When the game’s not on, they’ve still got one of the most competitive dart boards around—since Boston fans can’t be chill about anything." - brant cox, sylvio martins
"Head to Sonny McLean’s and follow these instructions: order a corned beef sandwich with fries, a Guinness or craft beer, settle indoors or on the cheery patio, and have a good time. Sonny McLean’s isn’t necessarily an Irish bar, but an Irish-Boston bar where catching any team from Massachusetts is on the TV (or the Fighting Irish). If this sounds appealing, then get there now." - Mona Holmes
"Sonny McLean’s is a New England sports bar, through and through - they’ve got surly bartenders, extremely heavy pours, and a miniature replica of the Boston Garden inside the bar. It’s also likely the only place in LA where you could start a “Beat LA” chant. Don’t worry, their new patio set-up in the back parking lot has just as many TVs and Massholes as you’d find inside the bar under normal circumstances." - brett keating
"Due to a series of good choices on your part, you’ve probably never been yelled at by someone named Sully in a South Boston bar. That’s why Sonny McLean’s, the aggressively Boston bar in Santa Monica, is one of our favorite spots in the city. The servers call you “Hon,” the pours are heavy, and the people care so much about the Pats that you’ll catch residual fandom during games. We like to come on Sundays for the full football experience, but this is still a great place to hang if there’s no game on. They’ve also got a great tap list, and surprisingly good wings and mozzarella sticks, if you’re hungry." - brant cox
