Sonny’s Hideaway Review - Highland Park - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Sonny’s is one of those spots that’s equally good to roll into for a few $6 Manhattans during happy hour at the bar as it is for a sexy Saturday date night in the restaurant area. The whole place has that old Hollywood thing going for it, and while it’s a touch put-on, it grows on you because nobody here is taking it that seriously. The American-ish food menu is solid and full of things you’ll recognize, the atmosphere is generally far more subdued than other spots in neighborhood, and they do an entire tiki drink takeover at the bar on Tuesdays." - Brant Cox

"Sonny's Hideaway, Highland Park. Crafted cocktails and American food in a warm and classy space. Sonny's Hideaway is a great spot to grab a cozy booth and sip a well made cocktail alongside some fine food. Try the Bread Pudding Brulee!"

Inside Nativo, Highland Park’s Happy New Dinnertime Hangout - Eater LA

"The former space, Sonny’s Hideaway, stood for more than seven years as a mellow hangout for all of York, offering late-night food, classic cocktails, and deep booths. It's now replaced by Nativo." - Farley Elliott

This bar is fantastic! The atmosphere is amazing and every drink I had was delicious. You can really tell Mike loves what he does and get shows in the drinks he made me. I didnt try the food this time but I will definitely be back to try some of the snacks and try some other cocktails.

The "corn fritters" we're the best hush puppies I've ever had and my friend and I wished that we had ordered the 5/plate option rather than the 3, because we split them. And they were awesome. The bed of veggies that the salmon came on was a bit strange and I'd probably get something different next time, but it was tasty. I would order a full bottle of wine next time, because I'm not entirely sure that the pours were 5oz, but I'll be back. Great vibe and music in the place. A but loud at first, but we adjusted our voices and it is far and away the nicest place around there.

Great cocktails! Have bartender a few ingredients I wanted (bitters, egg white, whiskey, etc) and they customized my drink for me. Waitress was also super friendly; would definitely come back.

One of my favorite places for drinks. The happy hour drinks are great and very reasonably priced. My two go-to's on that list are the Old Fashioned and the Pim's Cup (very refreshing). The french fries are so like crack. Adam and the other bartenders are super cool and mix amazing cocktails. Great whiskey selection, super knowledgeable staff, and great ambiance (I love the upholstery).

Loved the food! Every bite was delicious. Our group of four ordered small sharing plates so we could taste a variety of dishes.😋 These included gluten free and vegetarian options. Service was friendly and atmosphere casual.

I usually only come here for cocktails. Tuesdays are tiki-themed! With decorations and a special tiki menu. Definitely worth checking out. Their cocktails are excellent on any other day of the week, too. It's a nice, dim space with a cool vibe and comfy booths. The food is pretty good, too. They also have a small back patio that can be really nice during the daytime.

Great spirit-forward cocktails. Tasty and well-priced Happy Hour. Bartenders here are super-knowledgeable - best question to ask them? "What cocktails are you enjoying drinking these days?" Always a surprise, or a nice twist on an old classic.

Unexpectedly great cocktails at this spot! Just like the name suggests, it's a hideaway, and no sign is really visible from the street - you'd have to find the street number. It's a low-key, small bar with friendly bartenders and solid cocktails. Also, drinks on the happy hour menu are cheap ($6), delicious, and happy hour is 4-7pm EVERY DAY (except Monday, because they're closed). Yes, weekends included. The happy hour drinks aren't just boring high balls but they have Old Fashioneds, Pimm's Cups and a daily punch. A wonderful neighborhood bar.
