"Since opening in 2014, the Korean barbecue export now boasts more than 40 locations in South Korea, Japan, Southeast Asia, and the U.S. In Orange County, the Garden Grove location remains the busiest. Sookdal means “experienced master” and echoes the restaurant’s attention to using aged meat. The beef brisket, bavette, and ribeye are all dry-aged. The pork set with pork neck, pork belly, and marinated pork ribs features wet-aged meat. The sides include Korean shabu-shabu, grilled cheese, sliced pineapple, and mushrooms to grill at the table." - Jenn Tanaka

"Hailing from Seoul with 40 locations around the world, Sookdal is known for its pork portfolio, namely pork belly, pork shoulder, and pork neck. Better yet, they wet age their pork belly and pork shoulder for richer and more tender cuts. The combos are the way to go for those looking to indulge in an assortment of meats in addition to a stew of choice, while their standout sides include risotto with cream sauce and grilled cheese. Sookdal also encourages many iterations of the perfect bite of pork belly with its pickled veggies, chopped garlic, cheese, wasabi, and even pineapple." - Cathy Park

Good aged pork, good service, decent portions for the price. Not cheap but not crazy expensive. They really do all the cooking and cutting for you, which is nice and convenient. The pork was delicious, flavorful, right amount of chewy.

Google
Hands down the best Korean BBQ I’ve had around Orange County. The quality of the meat is excellent. It’s just like what you’d expect in Korea!

Jung Lee

Google
If you like fresh pork bbq Korean style this is one of the best. It rivals the bbq shops in Busan which serve the best pork combo sets in Korea. We ordered the $97 set which serves 3-4 people. Best cuts are the pork belly, pork jawl, pork butt and thinly sliced beef brisket.Another plus for this location is that the servers grill the meats for you. There are occasions when you are forced to cook on your own and then you burn the meat to charcoal black… so this place has the proper service that many Korean restaurants do not offer anymore. Parking might be limited in this small strip mall parking lot. I am sure you will find street parking near by if the place gets busy.

Google
Visiting this resto for the hype I read about aging pork. It turns out to be just okay. Not bad but not superb. It’s just general. I think the resto is not investing in Banchan. There is no flat white noodle, no fish cake, no bean sprouts etc..theirs banchan all of them r fermented vegetables with green onion salad.

Google
What a perfect Korean BBQ! Had combo B, $69 for two people. The meat was great as well as all side dishes. The staff were very friendly and helped with BBQ, so you do not need to do anything. They are extremely well trained with great operations.

Google
Combo C, $97. For two people. Ordered kimchi tofu soup extra $12. Cass and Terra beer, $9 each. Total bill $138 for two people. Food was 4/5 (quality is good nothing too crazy), service was 4/5 (forgets items we asked like ice), atmosphere 4/5 (hot inside, no music, small spaces, table setup is great). Will come back, bring more people, a combo is a lot for two people. Recommend. Came at a saturday night, not too busy. Big parking spot.

Google
Out of towners and we picked a local gem! Excellent service, divine food, and very authentic. A must stop. We liked how they told about the meat!

Tien Nguyen

Google
We ordered 1 Combo C and an additional serving of aged pork which cost us ~$138 with tax included for 4 people so I would say that it is not too expensive as the fat fill your stomach quite fast. Customer service is good, waiting time is not too bad compared to other Korean BBQ restaurants (waited ~30 minutes). I LOVE their onion salad! The sauce is just so good that I think this restaurant has the best one. The kimchi tofu soup is good too, just that it has too much oil/fat on top, otherwise, the taste is perfect. The side dishes are good too. Pork jowl is really good, I think I like it the most among all the meat that come from Combo C. The parking lot might be a big problem if you come during peak time Anyway, definitely recommend this place!

Yelp
This place is just amazing. I've come here twice now, and every single time, it has been just as good as the first. The wet-aged pork here is super tender and super flavorful. Combined with the grilled cheese on top and the honey dipping sauce, that creates the perfect bite. We also always order the risotto, which is super delicious. We got the cold noodles, which was really good to eat to help cut through the oils from all the meat. The server will cook everything to perfection for you, so you don't need to worry about burning or undercooking any of the pork. Amazing service and clean restaurant, and probably my favorite place to get pork. You know it's real when you see the TVs playing videos of press from their locations in Korea.

Sean S.

Yelp
Been here at least 10 times by now so time to leave a review FOOD: This place does pork belly right. I drive out here from Irvine if I'm craving pork belly because it's always been good. Sides are good and recommend getting the risotto always. SERVICE: Friendly and attentive. Never had an issue with the cook times or needing to wait excessively for anything. This place can get pretty busy on the weekends but even then I've never had an issue. OTHER: Parking may be a little tough during busier times and wait times can get up to the 45minute range, but I've only felt that on Friday or Saturday nights. Otherwise this place is largely hassle free.

Catherine B.

Yelp
My favorite pork kbbq place in OC/LA! I always get Combo B and Sookdal has solid meat quality and so many fixings that's straight out of Korea. The table is set simply and elegantly with the veggies and sauces pairing perfectly with the meat. Each set comes with pineapple, cheese, and mushroom. They grill the meat for you so well too! Luckily, it's not too busy on the weekdays. Fridays + weekends though, you can expect an hour wait during peak time.

Nani N.

Yelp
So worthhh the wait. It took around 30 minutes to get seated. The service was so amazing and the meat was so tender and juicy. A little on the pricey side but definitely getting what you are paying for.

Dennis K.

Yelp
First of all, waiter DK, need to give a shout out This might be long, but hear me out This dude hosted, waited on us, and cleaned too Seriously, what can bro not do? He took our order, gave us advice He handled everything clean and nice You can come here and even order rice So don't think it's a risk, it's not rolling the dice I don't even really like Pork, but this place be good Seriously, all Korean BBQ places need to be like this, they should I usually highlight 1 or 2 things on the menu But seriously, so many things were great, even the venue OK, we ordered Chilled Kimchee noodles, Combo C, and Risotto, and every item was good. The Risotto is a bit creamy so depends on your taste, but combo C, boy, that meat is money. They have so many dipping options along with a garlic leaf thing you can roll up the meat in, and you add a bit of Wasabi, and man, you got a party in your mouth. This is something I've never tried, but it was dang good.

Kay D.

Yelp
The quality of the meat here is very good the pork is tender and juicy! They also have some noodle option that's I personally loved. Your not going to be spending all you can eat money here your definitely going to be spending more but if your with a group you will be full. The grilled pork paired perfectly with the said, some noodles, and the sauce. Service was good, the location is a bit small but the employees do check in and explain stuff to you! A bonus they have garlic and it's very delish! the

Van N.

Yelp
Not welcoming guests to celebrate their events. Do not come here for celebration. All they cared was fast in and out.

Ly N.

Yelp
This is definitely my go-to place for thick cut pork belly. I've been here multiple times, even twice in one all. I love the service here. Waiters cook for you so you don't have to worry about overcooking the meat. Sides are great as well. Worth every penny.

Juhee K.

Yelp
Been here twice. Quality of meat is amazing. Very authentic - you will feel like you are eating in Korea. :) Side dishes they bring out and SERVICE also are very good. Little descriptions of how they cared the meat is also a nice touch. Can't go wrong with this place. It's about 30 min from my place, so it's a bit of a drive for us, but we will be back for sure.

Zaydian A.

Yelp
Sookdal is hands down the best Pork KBBQ place in OC/LA. I'm not Korean, and I honestly don't like pork, but this place does it perfect. We ordered Combo C which had the Pork Belly, Pork Shoulder, Skirt Meat, and Pork Neck. Everything tasted amazing but the pork belly was the star of the show as it just melts in your mouth. I highly recommend you order the cheese and honey appetizer and the creamy risotto, both pair really well with the saltiness of the pork. Service was great and the ambiance was clean and simple. Expect a wait on the weekends after 630-7, but this is a must try! Would I go again? Absolutely!

Tiffany C.

Yelp
My Korean friends treated us to a delicious lunch here. This Korean bbq was very different from what we are used to in Irvine. They are known for their aged pork, but we also had some beef brisket, and cold noodles. Their side dishes were very unique and had all kinds of different pickled vegetables, not just the typical kimchi. The server did all the cooking and cutting of the meat, so we just had to eat.

Paul L.

Yelp
Sookdal is the first Korean restaurant in my recollection where they serve WET-AGED MEAT. So, what is wet-aged? It's when you compress the meat in an air-sealed bag and leave it in an ice-cold aquarium for several days. At Sookdal, they leave it in for eight days at 34 F. For their transparency, I am amazed at how beautiful the meat turned out. We got fortunate with getting seated upon arrival. We can see a table being cleaned up as we were writing my name down. We were seated in less than five minutes. However, while dining, we could see that a line was starting to form outside. What we ordered: COMBO C (Pork Belly + Pork Shoulder + Skirt Meat + Pork Neck + Kimchi or Bean Stew + Cheese) - I love table service because it requires less work, and the servers do all the grilling and cutting of the meat. They let us know when it is ready for us to eat. While the meat was cooking, the first item brought out was the Kimchi Stew. After splitting the bowl and several slurps, I finished the stew until the bowl was empty. While patiently waiting for the Pork Belly, I had a million thoughts about how I would create my very own wrap (ssam). The meat was TENDER and DELICIOUS, and my favorite meat selection was the Pork Belly. Ordering a combo plate allows me to try other varieties and helps me make an effective decision on my next return. While other meat dishes were good, the Pork Belly was an easy champion. CHILLED KIMCHI NOODLES (Beef Broth with Kimchi, Radish, Cucumber, and Sliced Seaweed) - THIS IS A MUST ORDER to refresh your palate after taking so much grease from the meat. I can't remember the last time I had Kimchi Noodles, and it made my eyes roll. Most ingredients are repurposed, not recycled, from the side dishes such as the Kimchi and the radish. The chilled broth felt like a cleansing and an excellent way to end your Korean BBQ experience.

Andrew Z.

Yelp
When it comes to pork, Sookdal is easily one of my favorite KBBQ places! Our go-to orders are Combo B and C, with an order of the Chilled Kimchi Noodles. However my two favorite meats are the Pork Belly (wet-aged) and Pork Neck (Jowl). The wait can sometimes be hit-or-miss. In some instances I've been seated upon arrival, but have also had to wait over 30minutes other times. Nothing special in terms of service, but the staff at Sookdal do prepare the food and do all the cooking for you, letting you know when ready to eat. The meat is simply delicious. The combo orders allow you to try a variety and you can't really go wrong with any of the meats here. Combo sizes are good for 2-4 people so it may be a bit more difficult coming with a larger party. We always add an order of the cold noodles to share as well. Refreshing and a change of pace with all the meat!

Marietta M.

Yelp
Arrived here around 8:30. It wasn't busy, we were seated in 15 minutes. Our table was setup already as we got seated. Ordered Combo A, which was perfect for a party for 2. We actually ate everything! No meat leftover. Service was great. Love that the server grilled for us. Would definitely recommend and we would definitely come back.

An T.

Yelp
Great food, great service! We usually get combo B and it was enough for 2 people, 3 if not starving. Pork neck was my fave especially when we requested it to be cooked a little longer. Their initial soup with the bean sprouts was so delicious and comforting! We liked the soybean soup over the kimchi, had more flavor to it. The food comes out quick and service was very attentive with the cooking. Loved that the pickled sides and wrapping leaf was refillable too. Also loved the garlic dipping sauce. One downside is that even though store hours is until midnight, they start cleaning at 10pm and the restaurant is ready to close by 11pm.

Amy N.

Yelp
SOOOOOO GOOOD!!!! the meat quality is fantastic and I love that the staff cooks for you. Each piece was perfectly cooked. They also have a unique side dish here of pickled garlic leaf? It tastes so amazing wrapped around a piece of their thick cut pork belly. *drool* thinking about it is making my stomach growl. SUCH GREAT FLAVOR! Staff was friendly and quick. Only downside is they don't have seating for parties larger than 6. Oh! And the music in there is BLASTING!! So don't come here if you're trying to have any type of conversation with your dinner dates. More like 3.75 stars.. not quite 4. But definitely give this place a try!!

Maggie L.

Yelp
FANTASTIC. Thank you Sookdal for a delicious birthday dinner! - paired with the kindest service and amazing cooking. I came with my incredibly nitpicky tough-to-please Vietnamese parents who aren't familiar with fine dining or the art of Korean BBQ, but this was a great restaurant that had everything you needed! Pork Kimchi Stew 5/5, an absolute WINNER for the family. Beef Brisket: delicious, they cooked until it was half crispy! RibEye: we had ordered an extra portion since we came hungry, super filling. Side Dishes: Loved the assortment of pickles + the wasabi was just really good. It wasn't that spicy to fog up my nasal cavity, but more so added amazing flavor to the beef. Would come again!

Cat N.

Yelp
Sookdal is one of my preferred Korean BBQ spots in Garden Grove. They offer combination menus instead of an AYCE approach. Their BBQ meats are always juicy and flavorful and their sides are one of my favorites that complements their meats perfectly. I love their pickled garlic leaf that I use to wrap their meats. They also have good cold noodles as well. Their stuff is just prepared better than some of the AYCE places and their pricing is affordable. I think the last time I went here and got a combination meal with one other person we only spend $70 between the both of us. And it was a generous amount of food that we were not able to finish. The service is also good. They cook the food for you so you don't have to worry about cooking it right. The only thing I didn't like was that their table side grill really splatters oil so you gotta sit not too close. But other than that I enjoy coming here and probably will be back soon.

Gloria C.

Yelp
I think KBBQ for pork is my new favorite thing. I mean, look at these pieces of meat! Grilled to perfection (there's a server that comes and cooks it for you so you can't mess it up). And the sides - the garlic leaf was so good and paired perfectly with the pork belly and shoulder. They even tell you how long the pork belly is aged for and the process too - shows that they really pride themselves. We also tried their risotto (drool) and their chilled cold noodles to balance out the heaviness of the meat - perfection.

Becky T.

Yelp
my favorite spot to eat kbbq, it hit all the spots! we got the combo and it was delicious!! the flavors were melting on my tongue and every bite led to a new experience. we also got the cold noodles and those were perfect for a hot day. it was spicy but not too spicy and had so much flavor! i love the sides, the different variations were perfect with each piece of meat! they cook for you which is great to enjoy your food and conversation. they were very attentive as well!! the place is big so we were seated right away, granted we did come right as they opened.. lol safe to say we were excited! definitely did not disappoint and i will be coming back

Yuna K.

Yelp
This place is So worth the wait!! But i wouldn't wait longer than around 30minutes for it. We ordered the combo with brisket and pork belly with the soy bean stew and the kimchi noodle on the side. There was so much food we couldn't finish (for 2 people) but maybe not enough food for 3 people. I really liked how they come to your table to cook the meat for you, and their radish wrap paper and their sauces go really well together with the meat here. The cheese they grill for you is also perfect with the pork belly. The service here can get a bit slow but its because its usually crowded here, so i'd recommend coming here on a weekday.

Baomy V.

Yelp
best grilled pork i've ever had! the quality of their pork belly and pork cheek tier! the banchan, onion salad, and sauces were good too and paired well with the meat. service was good too despite them being busy and they cooked for us pretty much the entire time. i would definitely return the next time i'm craving samgyupsal!

Brandon L.

Yelp
This place is more authentic than Bakjeong in Irvine. I really like that the banchan isn't pickled in all sugar water - more of an acidic taste to the banchan. The meal goes by pretty quickly since they cook the meal for you. Our server didn't speak English and couldn't explain how to enjoy the meal other than referring to the cue card on the table despite this being our first time.

Jean R.

Yelp
Great place for high quality KBBQ! The meat is fresh and sides are tasty. It is a higher price range but the quality of food is great!

Wendy G.

Yelp
My husband's favorite pork belly place. It's not ayce but the quality is up to par with korea's meat. The way they cut the pork belly is pretty thick compared to the general thinner kinds. It's super juicy and tender. We really like the kimchi and the kimchi soup. It's more savory than the other type of kimchi we had. We come back whenever we're in the area. Totally worth the trip!

Chynna P.

Yelp
Sook Dal offers a fun take on Korean BBQ where they cook everything for you - perfect for those new to the cuisine! Their a la carte menu is limited combo style but offer great options, and don't miss the meats topped with grilled cheese - surprisingly delicious! The sides are packed with rich flavor, a perfect complement to the BBQ. Highly recommend Sook Dal for a tasty and unique dining experience.

Jocelyn E.

Yelp
If you like thick pork belly this is your spot. We ordered pork belly, brisket, kimchi jigae, and spicy cold noodle. Everything was super yummy. Their bonchon was also really good the bean sprout soup that comes with I have only seen that being served here in all the restaurants I've been too. The pork belly can be intimidating being cooked that big to people that don't eat pork belly but it's really the perfect amount of meat/fat. The only thing is I wish they had brisket sauce for the brisket but that's only because I don't like sesame oil. Service was good, restaurant is nice and small.

Tyson P.

Yelp
Good food! Always my go-to when I am in that side of town. Staff very friendly and provides great service

Brandon N.

Yelp
What we ordered: - Combo B (pork belly, skirt meat, pork neck, and kimchi stew) - Risotto Sookdal serves some of the juiciest pork belly in all of Orange County through their wet-aging process. Stop by if you want high quality pork belly not found at AYCE KBBQ spots! Pork belly is a must order when coming here. Slices are thick and juicy with a nice sear. We recommend eating the pork belly with cheese dipped in honey The pork neck was very moist and flavorful. It had a more chewy texture compared to the pork belly, but was still soft. Skirt meat was our least favorite cut of the night, it was a tad dry compared to the pork belly and neck. The kimchi stew was rich and had a strong kimchi flavor. It was not watery at all and the pork pieces were abundant. The risotto was extremely creamy and cheesy. We loved the inclusion of masago and jalapeño bits that added a spicy kick.

Esjay Y.

Yelp
Honestly I like this joint cause the food is good but get rid of your disrespectful manager. I've worked in the food industry and customer service is top priority.

Yerang P.

Yelp
Food was great, meat quality is phenomenal, order the risotto you won't regret it. The service on the other hand? I get that you want to churn and burn customers to maximize your profits, but at what cost? Reducing the experience of your paying patrons? TLDR: we were rushed into leaving the restaurant. Even before we had finished our food/drinks, the bill was dropped off at our table - a great way to ruin the appetite. We were then asked to leave quite literally the moment we paid and put down our cups and utensils, because there were other people waiting for a table. Poor experience where all 8 of us left with a bitter taste in our mouths even though the food was delicious. Yeah it's cool to make more money, but at the cost of churning customers like it's a fast food restaurant or something? We will unfortunately not be back.

Bart M.

Yelp
Best Korean bbq ive ever had. What an explosion of flavor in every bite and what an experience! I love that they grill the meat for you because you know it will be cooked perfectly. The sides are ridiculous, the soups are crazy good and needless to say the meat is Service was also excellent! Will definitely be back!

Shirley H.

Yelp
One of my favorite KBBQ places in Garden Grove. Since the wait times for some other KBBQ restaurants can get super long, I appreciate how Sookdal has the old school pen and paper waitlist instead of the Yelp waitlist. On a weekday night, my boyfriend and I waited maybe 15 minutes. They offer a pretty limited menu of some a La carte items and combos. We always opt for the combo since it comes with good quality of meat, some veggies, and soup. The ribeye and pork belly are probably my favorite cuts of meat. The meat tastes very fresh and high quality. The soybean paste soup also balances out the meal nicely. Don't sleep on this KBBQ restaurant!

Harrison T.

Yelp
Came here for my birthday and I had wonderful dinner with my friend! The quality of the meats here are some of the best that you will find in OC and the service was great from beginning to end! My friend and I ordered Combo C which included pork belly, pork shoulder, skirt meat, & pork neck. All the meat was delicious and one plus side here is the staff cook the meat for you which takes some stress away from regular kbbq. This was some of the highest quality meat that I've ever had at a KBBQ restaurant and they even give you a slip detailing how long some of the meat is aged before they start cooking which I thought was neat to show they are serious about their quality. All the banchan was delicious and fresh and there was a good variety to choose from. The sauces they give you are flavorful and mixing them together isn't a bad idea either. A kimchi stew or bean paste stew is included which was good and had a good kick of heat to it and I also like that they include cheese and pineapple on the side for some sweetness and richness. Service here was truly spectacular with all the staff being friendly and helpful and constantly checking on us to ensure we were having a great meal. The price you pay is totally worth it for the quality and service you get. Parking can be a bit rough if you come during dinner time but you can also park along the streets or across the lot. Highly recommend coming here for some delicious KBBQ. You will be surprised at how good it is!

Chris B.

Yelp
Great place but floor slippery be careful. Ordered their combo E which was the pork bell + ribeye meat with kimchi stew and cheese. Also ordered their cold noodle (noodle was the vermicelli noodle instead of the buckwheat). You can forgot the noodles and for a party of 2 this was enough. Server was diligent friendly cooked the meats perfectly. Would I come back? yes

James V.

Yelp
I went here because I wanted something that specialized in pork. I really liked their setup as it really felt like home. I want to mention that the floors were really slippery, it's a hazard! I ordered the combo A which came with an assortment of banchan and the pork pieces. Their banchan is not your typical banchan and to be quite frank, I really think they should stick with KBBQ classics such as Kimchi, Bean Sprout Salad, Spicy Cucumber Kimchi and a classic salad. I think their seaweed/leaf thing was a bit strange. I really liked their mushrooms and loved how they cook everything for you so that you can enjoy your meal. I found it weird that they did not provide you rice. I don't know if that's free or not but they should 100% ask if you want rice because I did not feel full and I think a bowl of rice would've balanced everything out. Even though it was a good place to eat at, I think that I paid almost the same as Baekjeong and I felt that Baekjeong was a tiny bit better and provided more meats and free rice! Overall, I'd give this place a solid 4/5. It's worth trying but I don't think I would go here again.

XinXin K.

Yelp
We came here around 7:30PM on a Saturday night and it was very busy, we waited for half an hour to get seated. We ordered the Combo B (Pork Belly + Skirt Meat + Pork Neck + Bean Paste Stew + Cheese) and the portion was enough for us 2. I liked that the employees cooked for us so every bite had the perfect crisp. The quality of the meat justified its price and I would come back again for special occasions.

Madyson L.

Yelp
high meat quality and taste that comes with a pricetag, will say service is good but don't expect to stuff yourself full, its more of a wuality over quantity kind of kbbq. their main focus is on pig meat so dont expect lots of beef

Kimberley C.

Yelp
We tried Sookdal because a certain restaurant down the street had a wait that was almost 2h. But we are so glad that we did! The service was attentive, and the bbq and banchan were delicious. Pricing was reasonable and we would eat here again.

MyMy T.

Yelp
Don't judge me, but this restaurant is right next to a laundromat. If you're a busy mama, drop off your laundry next door and then dine inside Sookdal! Set your timers. Makes doing your everyday chores very rewarding. The staff here is all males I believe. Half of them have better brows and skin than me. They're all nice and good at what they do. If they catch you flipping the meat on the grill they come running over to do it for you. As for the food, I always choose the combos and if we're still hungry we just add on a là carte. Definitely get the cheese they grill and dip it in honey. I dunno why but to me the wasabi is so good! They told me it's store bought but it's like my favorite. Spicy risotto is so amazing. Get it! The bean sprout soup with pepper is so tasty, it literally warms your soul.

Bruce W.

Yelp
Very expensive, not typical Korean bbq. Portions are small for the price. Paid $330 and we all left still hungry (group of 6) I was planning to leave a cash tip and pay with card, they asked me if I meant to leave a tip on the card, made me feel like not tipping(I still did, not a monster) did not taste like premium meat just typical, good, but not for the price or portion. Brisket was like 40 bucks and very little was given

Caroline M.

Yelp
Best grilled pork belly in town! Cheese on top! Side dishes are good, loved their salad dressing. Small, cozy place. Friendly staff. Will be back for more.

Terry H.

Yelp
I've had quite a bit of Korean bbq in my life and I'd have to say when it comes to pork belly, this place is definitely my favorite so far. Food: 9/10 The wet-aged pork belly itself is worth of a 9.5/10, but it's really some of the other meat options that prevents that rating. The pork belly here is different than most places, as they cut it into thick pieces that are cooked to crispy and juicy perfection. The non-pork options like the steak and flank steak are pretty mid. Aside from the pork belly, the CHEESE and Cold Kimchi Noodles (not naengmyeon) are MUST GETS. We always order multiple rounds of the cheese which they grill and serve with a side of honey. The Cold Kimchi Noodles are super refreshing and great to pair with your meats to cleanse your pallet. Service: 8/10 The servers here take your order and cook it for you as well. They're generally pretty attentive, but can overlook you or forget to enter items as it gets busier. I try not to get too caught up in critiquing places especially when they get busy, and I'll definitely give Sookdal servers their props when it comes to cooking the meat to perfection. From my experience, servers usually ask you how thoroughly you want your meats cooked, but not here, which I don't have a problem with. They cook it how they know to and it comes out right every time. Ambiance: 7/10 The rating is really not a slight on the restaurant or anything, it's more that the place is a standard looking Korean bbq joint that isn't overly focused on impressing with aesthetics. The place can get smoky and the floors are almost always very greasy, but that's just what comes with it. Let's just put it this way: no one is coming here to impress with aesthetics or for any reason other than to eat some dank pork belly. Overall: 8.5/10 My favorite Korean bbq place for pork belly! Been here multiple times and plan on continuing to come back. I personally wouldn't get anything other than the aforementioned three items of wet-aged pork belly, cheese, and cold kimchi noodles, but that should say enough about how good the three are.

Sly L.

Yelp
Meats are fresh and tasty. Service is fast and professional The vibe is typically Korean bbq place

Yelp
My go to kbbq spot. Sookdal's pork belly and pork neck are always juicy and cooked so well by the staff. I love that we don't have to cook here! The best part about their pork belly is that it's thick cut. My perfect bite is pork belly topped with pineapple, ssamjang, salt, and garlic wrapped in pickled wild garlic leaves. It tastes savory w a hint of sweetness. So good! Their sides are also great. The bean sprout soup and the pickled veggies provides a refreshing palate cleanser to the savory and greasy pork. I also love getting their risotto sometimes. It's creamy and has a little kick from the jalapeño. They have great service. Their staff is very attentive and always making sure the meats aren't being over cooked. Can't wait for my next Sookdal dinner!!

Yelp
I usually am not a big pork fan since my exposure is usually kbbq pork or Chinese pork belly but I will definitely drive all the way here for this pork. Soooooo good. When you eat the meat you have to eat it with the vegetables and both sauces provided for the perfect bites. The radish and greens are sweet. Dip the pork in the sesame oil, wasabi, wrap it with the radish and the greens and yum. The combo B is good size for two people. Pork belly is a must for the first try. You won't feel bloated after but will smell of pork. The service is quick and kind and grill for you. Definitely will come back. Parking lot is part of a smaller size plaza. Be prepared to wait since the staff grill for you so they can only handle so many tables at once.

Yelp
When it comes to KBBQ, I consider myself to be a bite of a snob. I've worked at a few KBBQ places like Gen, ATB (All That BBQ), Manna (San Diego) so my expectations are a bit higher compared to others. With that being said, Sookdal blew my friggin mind! If you're expecting an AYCE format with an endless stream of thinly sliced brisket flooding your table, you might want to consider other places. Sookdal specializes in wet/dry aged pork cuts which sets them apart from other KBBQ joints. We opted for the one of their Combo options and ordered some soju along with our meal. The restaurant gives off a rustic feel with a traditional feel to their interior. The servers here will cook for you so you can enjoy the company of your friends and focus on them instead of slaving away cooking for your group. The price as fair for what you receive, but its not a place where I'll frequently dine at. Shout out to our server KEVIN who took care of our rowdy group. Ask for him if its your first time or if you're looking for a pleasurable dining experience. - Ron

Yelp
Love this place, just perfect for two. Pork KBBQ, there's no beef here. They make you order a minimum of 2 and open during dinner only. The staff will cook the meat to perfection and keep them on a rack. We usually get Combo B with pork shoulder and kimchi stew. I prefer the pork shoulder over pork belly. If my party love pork belly, I would get Combo C. We tried the brisket but didn't like it much. Combo B ($67): Pork Belly OR Pork Shoulder, Skirt Meat, Pork Neck, Kimchi Stew and Cheese. Combo C ($87): Pork Belly AND Pork Shoulder, Skirt Meat, Pork Neck, Kimchi Stew and Cheese. The staff taught us to eat the pork belly + wasabi + garlic wrapped in the garlic leaves was soo good. Any other meat, he told to eat with salt and soybean paste.

Yelp
Service is very fast and I got seated within 10 minutes,It isn't very cheap and is pricy but the delicious food makes up for the price. The pork belly is very good and so is the ribeye . The restaurant is quite loud though but that is the only downside I have encountered.
