Soon's Korean-inspired sushi is the best you'll find in Kenosha. Before and now, under their new management, they continue to serve the most flavorful experience you can find in all of Kenosha County.

Hidden gem of a sushi place! We loved the Kenosha Roll (!!), and staples like spicy tuna and rainbow rolls. Sapporo served in a frosted glass and attentive server who was so patient with our crew of kiddos. They LOVED the fried rice and gyoza 🥟

Google
Sweet family run establishment next to Columbus Park. The Ramen broth was rich and complex. I highly recommend it. We also had the Shrimp Tempura, which was very good. I’ve always loved this cute little spot.

I woule not go back to this place. I can tell it's under new ownership. The female making the sushi was using her bare hands to roll and put together the sushi . The order I placed was not good at all and I've had it several times at this place. The ginger sauce tasted like Sriracha and not like ginger when soon made it. Overall I give this place a 0. I paid $35 for 2 hand rolls 2 house salads a 2 pc Nigiri.. NEVER AGAIN !

Wow! The reviews were absolutely awesome. The portions of sushi were truly unbelievable. I normally can feel comfortable with 4 rolls…. I had to take half of my order home as the meal was plentiful. Fresh salmon, fresh tuna, fresh eel… all prepared in the specific rolls and were just really tasty and fresh. The service and staff are warm and friendly. Oh. And being new in the area… it is a quaint restaurant with all new and updated inside for sure…. Truly a local treasure I’m sure.

Soon's is open again! I enjoyed my favorite Rainbow 🌈 Roll, with a Sapporo beer, miso soup and an amazingly "oishi" (delicious , in Japanese) seaweed salad. Even though Soon and Bob have sold the restaurant, they still like to stop by and say Hi. When I was visiting, Soon was there, and it was very nice to see her. Stop in to greet the new crew as Soon's Sushi 🍣 Cafe continues to serve really good food to our community!

Stopped in yesterday for dinner:) The girl serving us was so incrediblely sweet and I wish I had asked for a name to shout her out! I had asked for a certain dessert which they didn't have but they let us try something new that they were working on; which was delicious btw! Great staff & food!

Google
If I could give it zero stars I would. The new owners should not be allowed to keep the name Soons. Soon would never let such terrible quality of food leave her establishment. I drove 30 minutes each way for a pick up order. The sashimi was slimy and cut so thin you could see through it. The rice was also smaller than a quarter. My rolls were half the size than usual. When I called asking for a refund, she stated I'd have to drive back and drop the food off. She didn't even offer a credit to make up for it. She wanted me to drive 2 hours total just to get my money back for their lack of service. She also stated the smaller portions are for "quality control." I don't understand how they are focused on "quality" when you can now find better sushi at the grocery store than here. It is so incredibly sad what they have done to the place. Do better if you are going to keep the name.

Yelp
Popped in this little gem after much absence and glad we did. This place offers some of the best sushi in town and we even got to try some new menu trial items for free. Service was prompt and attentive as well!

Charlie A.

Yelp
Soons is really top shelf! Amazing super fresh sushi, rolls and great service. Ill be back!
google avatar

Yelp
The sushi was great! Ordered enough rolls to be brought out on a wooden boat! Small quaint place but great food and friendly staff!
google avatar

Yelp
Very friendly atmosphere and great food! Had a couple signature rolls and they were so good! Delicious and fresh! The employees greeted us with smiles. Definitely recommend and give it 5/5 stars!

Yelp
We love this place! We have been coming here every summer for 15yrs. It is one of our many stops while staying in Kenosha on the weekends. We loved the last owners! They brought some much joy and love to their restaurant. The food was delicious! I went recently to try some sushi after the new owners have taken over and they have done a wonderful job with consistency and quality. I wish you the BEST OF LUCK! Continue to keep the legacy alive.

Yelp
Alway a pleasant dining experience. Owners are super welcoming and get to know their customers. Dishes are authentic. Best sushi in kenosha.

Yelp
I love Soons! I've been coming here for years. Best sushi in town & Soon is always so sweet and happy to greet her customers

Sir R.

Yelp
Best sushi I've had outside of Chicago. Soon is an absolute treasure. She's been making sushi since her childhood in Korea. Now, the tradition of making sushi is passed on to her son, and they brought in an additional chef to speed up orders.

Yelp
I LOVE sushi & sashimi! They have a squid salad that is delectable! The unfortunate thing is that EVERY time I leave I get sick! I didn't want to believe it was from the food and it's always so tasty but someone told me it may be a cleanliness place... ‍ It's really old and doesn't appear to be a very cleanly place. I never like to judge a book by its cover so I tried like 6 times. Unfortunately I cannot go there any more I'm hoping that once they open again everything will be new and renovated?! Maybe I'd give it a try again!? This place has me ‍ My stomach can take sushi and sashimi from other places... just not here so it leads me to believe it's a cleanliness thing... ‍

Yelp
Um...no. I ate here once, about 10 years ago and it was horrible. But... I've continued to hear people talk about it being good, so I finally went back today. Um...no. I got a simple Chirashi Bowl and Grilled Squid app. First, the Grilled Squid was served with a bowl of spicy mayo. I've never seen that before. Just spicy mayo...to dip...? Ok..... Then the Chirashi arrived. Chirashi is a very simple dish of what should be their top grade sashimi, over rice. Whole it arrived in a cute little box, the fish itself varied from boring to tasteless, to "tastes of bleach." Really, only the Salmon was decent. I don't understand fish that doesn't taste like anything at all, and I really don't like bleached fish. Between the two dishes, I have to soak it all in so much soy sauce, that I think my tongue is now pickled for life. Um...no.

Yelp
I have been going to Soon's for years now. They have always been so friendly and have some amazing sushi for such a small shop. Horrible things have happened to their shop in the past few years but I'm so happy they are back open again. Prices have gone up so much though, it means I can afford to eat there as much but I still try to go about twice a month.

Yelp
Hands down the best sushi ANYWHERE! I've been coming here for over 10 years and have yet to be disappointed. The quality of the sushi is incomparable. I always order the Red Fire Roll and it's always so fresh and tasty every time. This place has definitely gotten very busy over the years. That says a lot. Keep it up!
google avatar

Yelp
Will be definitely be back again. Tried their miso soup and their house special hand roll snd wow, was i pleased. Will be back for sure to try their maki rolls. But, yes, it's easy to say that this restaurant off the main street is definitely the "one". Intimate snd small inside with off the street parking I never would've thought that this restaurant has not only awesome pricing, but a food quality is definitely is top notch here. Thank you!

Yelp
Just so you know we called to place an order to learn that they close 2 hours sooner than the hours posted. I guess they must still be under covid restrictions. Must be nice to pick and choose your customers. Thoroughly disappointed with this as we love Soon's and have been treated very poorly with the new reception there. Good luck

Yelp
Soon's is a hidden treasure in Kenosha. If you want fresh, excellent quality sushi Soon's is a great option. I usually go to Milwaukee for Screaming Tuna but recently have found their options to be lacking flavor. While Soon's has expensive rolls, I was able to get three awesome rolls for under 20 dollars - and they were large! I usually can eat 3 or 4 and had to stop after 2. I am a celiac but the waitress was able to help me. They do not have gluten free soy sauce but I brought my own. No shame. It is a small place and some of the staff don't speak English fluently but that was part of the charm and I appreciated Soon's more. Some of the reviews I read docked 2 stars for the atmosphere. If you want awesome sushi and more high class comfort - get it to go. I understand wanting more of a luxurious experience but Soon's is authentic and genuine. I highly recommend!

Yelp
My boyfriend and I love coming to Soon's! At first we were unsure since it's a tiny little corner place, but now we're in love. Ever since we moved to Racine, we have made sure to come here regularly even though it's a bit of a drive for us. All of our friends recommended it! Their sushi is excellent, but we come for the bibimbap. The staff is always super nice and attentive.
google avatar

Renee P.

Yelp
We won't order elsewhere in Kenosha. Best sushi around. Portions are appropriate. Fish is always fresh. Fantastic service.
google avatar

Rachelle C.

Yelp
We love Soon's! We have been going there since they first opened! The red fire roll is my favorite and their hand rolls are good for a good price. Their food that comes out from the kitchen in sizzling bowls always smells amazing but I have never tried it. We eat here or take out at least 3 times a month!
google avatar

Yelp
Came here with coworkers, I'm not a sushi guy but was excited to try their cooked dishes. Had pork dumplings app and then Shrimp/veggies with noodles. Dumpling wrappers were overcooked, main dish was good but had almost zero sauce, minimal shrimp. Service was poor, took a while to take drink order, never offered apps, soup, etc, slow with the check during lunch. Drink and lunch were $15, a bit steep for this tightwad. Chairs, table, presentation, left a lot to be desired at these prices. For Asian food in Kenosha (not sushi), Chen's by the lake and Asian Taste near the "I" are so much better. For sushi, my coworkers did give them a solid review.

Yelp
Great sushi, gyōza, and udon, order was packaged and ready to go on time (a bit early actually). Great service. Highly recommended!

Madalynn S.

Yelp
So glad soons is finally back! Ordered over the phone with soon and her husband. Amazing experience, anticipated a longer wait, she called with our order being done early. Let me tell you, worth the wait!
google avatar

Phil L.

Yelp
The wait was well worth it. They have not missed a beat with the service or food. Wish them many years of success

Yelp
Great sushi when I tried it out. I think the sushi was very. The staff was friendly. Service was good. Prices we reasonable also I would go back again Smaller quiet place. Not in the best area, yet it is safe to go there. I would go for the food again
google avatar

Kori L.

Yelp
The portion size was good, but quality very lacking. The restaurant was dirty (they also gave me a dirty glass with old dried lip marks on it). Stomach kind of hurts after eating the raw fish. Avoid :-( Nice people though - I wish I could say better things. Edit: stomach is very mad. Seriously avoid this place

Yelp
This is by far, the BEST sushi in Kenosha... GREAT place to go for a BIRTHDAY! I've now been here twice and my friends have been going for months... one friend told me about it a couple years ago and I wish I tried it sooner (pun not intended). The sushi rice is good (not perfect but pretty close, I hate when other places make it too sweet) and the portions and prices for what you get are amazing! It's very true that the place doesn't look like much, but I'm not going there to have my portrait taken, I'm going to enjoy some tasty food and did I ever! The staff is very friendly, and last time I was there, the couple at a table next to mine ordered what I think was some hot Korean food that I really want to try next time. (Looked like big metal bowls with something steamy in them) I tried to ask the owner what it was, but I couldn't really understand her accent. Being Korean owned, I had also hoped that they might make Kimbap (Korean sushi) but when I asked the sushi chef (who looks american) she did not know what it was or how to make it (suggestion for the owners, add this to your sushi menu!) I took my niece there for her birthday, I mentioned that it was her birthday to the waitress, after we ate our entire boat of sushi, they brought out the cutest birthday heart shaped sushi cake with a candle and sang to her! and by sushi cake, I mean it wasn't a cake at all... it was a big heart shaped piece of sushi with imitation crab stick, rice, avocado and I think spicy tuna or spicy salmon and it looked adorable!

Yelp
A great little place. Wonderful to stop in or pick up and take home. Although people skills are sometimes lacking, Bob & Soon (The owners) try to make everyone feel at home. The sushi is great. Not the best in the world, but really impressive for Kenosha. Pricing is very reasonable, and you always leave satisfied. Their house special handrolls are great, and the Squid Salad is a must try.
google avatar

Albina Z.

Yelp
Best sushi in the area! Great fish, which is what sushi is all about. Definitely try miso soup, the spicy tuna cocktail and the octopus salad. Oh, and the hand rolls. If you order the dragon roll- be prepared, it will feed a whole dragon! They take their time with the prep, but once it's definitely worth the wait.

Me T.

Yelp
Just Wow, I can't say enough you can't go wrong. Best sushi ever. You have to try the specialty rolls. So fresh.

Yelp
Best sushi In the Chicago/Milwaukee area.

Yelp
This is our family's go to restaurant for lunch or a night out. My 7 year old begs to go to Soon's for his favorite, Man Doo Soup. It's a huge serving of dumpling soup, steaming hot, so we always call ahead to reserve our table and the soup. The sushi always tastes amazing & looks beautiful. My husband swears by the Beef Yaki Udon. The service is great and Soon is so sweet, checking in on every table.
google avatar

Liz H.

Yelp
Soon's has some of my favorite specialty sushi roll, godzilla roll. The entire thing is so well put together! We have tried other things like chicken teriyaki and bulgogi and honestly I Will just stick with the sushi menu. I also love the portion you get, it's enough and very filling! I will definitely miss the Godzilla roll when I move out of Kenosha!
google avatar

Sinh L.

Yelp
So moving into the area I needed to find a new sushi area! So far Soon's is my favorite. The dining room kind of a has a cheap decor feel and the tables and chairs could use an update for sure. But that's what also gives it that mom-pop shop feel. The bathroom was scary and I decided not to use it, I'd definitely would put that on the priority list. The sushi is good though, there's no fishy smell so there won't be any getting sick. The owners are friendly and so are staff.
google avatar

Liz E.

Yelp
Valentines Day, no reservation. Sat right down at the sushi bar and we had drink orders taken right away. The service was excellent. We ordered Miso Soup, Kenosha Roll and the Nude Roll with additional cream cheese. The soup was nice and hot, very tasty. Both rolls were amazing but I really loved the Nude Roll. The size of both rolls were very generous and they were very fresh. I've heard a lot about this place, and I was not disappointed. I will definitely be back again.

Cris S.

Yelp
This is the Korean equivalent of a comfort food, mom and pop kitchen. No frills, decent selection of sushi rolls, Korean fare and specialty beverages (sake, beer, some liquor). The Korean beef bulgogi was flavorful and served sizzling hot ala fajita flatiron you find at Mexican places. Server was prompt, attentive and friendly. For a neighborhood, casual eat in/takeout place, this place is a gem.

Lena W.

Yelp
Lunch today at Soon's did not disappoint... enjoy stopping by every time I visit Kenosha.
google avatar

Joy L.

Yelp
Always ready to visit Soon's for sushi The rest of the menu is good too, if you want to bring friends who are not into sushi. The owners are wonderful people.
google avatar

Phil G.

Yelp
Was recommended to try out this restaurant. Good sushi but decor dated. Bathrooms need to be redone. Not much money being put into making the restaurant updated. Prices about what to expect for sushi.

Christine K.

Yelp
Great sushi. I liked the selection. The staff was friendly. The service was prompt. I plan on returning soon.
google avatar

Shelby J.

Yelp
Maybe I'm spoiled but I like to eat sushi in comfortable chair and setting. Not banquet chair from 1970 that is on its last legs and down to nothing but cardboard. It's in need of a serious cleaning and update. I always do the spicy tuna roll test at each sushi restaurant and it failed badly. Very dry. It's not in the best part of Kenosha so I'll probably pass next time someone wants to go.

Yelp
Tried Soon's for the first time last night with some friends. The place is nice, however it is a little disorganized and service is not their specialty. They do however serve up some good quality sushi at fair prices based on quality/quantity but I will elaborate... Upon arrival we had to wait for others to leave as they were reserving half of their restaurant for prom night. Sort of aggravating to stand around for 15 minutes waiting while there were like six empty tables. After finally getting our table we ordered some really basic drinks: 2 beers out of a bottle, 2 sodas, and 1 pomegranate martini. I thought for sure someone was straining the pomegranate juice by hand because these drinks took a solid 10-15minutes before they appeared at our table. Sadly it was not fresh pomegranate, it was just an old bar tender who was preoccupied with the GILF at the bar. We ordered the following to share: sushi for two (love boat type deal) 6 various rolls First off... no soup or salad is included. That is an extra $15 for two orders, so for four of us soup/salad would have cost $30? That is a tad steep... I had high expectations for this place based on feedback from personal friends, Soon's however did not meet those expectations. The restaurant is in a horrible part of town, it's small and cramped, and service was sub-par. Food quality was outstanding and that is the only reason I can give them 3 stars. They need to step up their service, hire a bartender who is not 100 years old and thinks Saturday night is gossip time with the 60+ year old woman with her stuff hanging out.
google avatar

Chris F.

Yelp
My favorite sushi joint. You have to go into Chicago and pay twice as much for sushi this good. You would never guess when you pull up that it's such a jem.
google avatar

Rebecca A.

Yelp
Want the most bang for your buck? Go to Soon's. The sushi rolls are quite large compared to other places, and the sushi as well as the kitchen-fare are delicious! Soon is frequently coming up with new flavors and combinations, and she's always willing to take special requests. Once you go there a few times, the whole staff remembers your name and what you like. For example, I ordered a Japanese Bagel Roll, but I forgot to ask for cucumbers to be added to it. Soon came over and asked, "no cucumbers?" Of course cucumbers!!! I was glad she reminded me. The only reason that this rating is a 4 and not a 5 is that the atmosphere is kind of drab, the neighborhood it sits in is sketchy, and the service is sometimes a little slow. I'm not talking about how long it takes to get the food; the quality is worth the wait. Sometimes, it seems like the wait staff forgets about you. As long as you speak up, that shouldn't be a problem. Definitely try this place out if you enjoy sushi. Make sure to check out the new flavors, like the Kenosha Roll and Playboy Roll. You will be leaving happy and with a full belly.

Diann G.

Yelp
This is my favorite place to go for Sushi, I've never been disappointed!!! They are always nice and very helpful.
google avatar

Kim Y.

Yelp
Heard so many good things about this place and was excited to try it. Unfortunately, there is nothing good that I can say. I ordered a tempura chicken roll and steak hibachi. The only flavor the hibachi had was of raw mushroom. I usually like mushrooms but this flavored the entire dish, gave it a dirty mushroom taste, and made it inedible to me. The rice was a parboiled fake kind, not the typical sticky rice that is served alongside hibachi. I wish it wouldn't have been so bad.
google avatar

Kevin J.

Yelp
Our first time in we had three rolls, Spicy Tuna, burning fire roll, and Tokyo roll. All were super fresh and delicious! We weren't expecting the burning fire to literally be burning, but it was a cool special effect. We would like to come back to try more
google avatar

M S.

Yelp
For the Area the place is ok..For those who don't know that much about sushi. I went Thursday at 5 and it was dead aside from a few pick up orders. The portion size fish to rice was like 2-1 instead of 1-1 like it should be on regular pieces. SO right there its a sign that they are trying to overcompensate and make you feel like you bought something worthwhile with your money when really they could just adjust their price a little. The rolls were adequate, a bit overstuffed again to match the price instead of just doing it properly. If you like sushi and are a big fan you may need to go to milwaukee to get it.. but this will satisfy your craving in a pinch. because its not bad but not wonderful either.

Yelp
I am writing this review out of a feeling of social responsibility. We went there last night after reading all of the "rave reviews" on yelp and trip advisor. I felt a little iffy about sushi off the beaten path in Kenosha to begin with, but figured "heck it has such good reviews it must be solid!" I was proved very wrong and after reading through the multitude of positive reviews I am losing faith in humanity. To everyone who praised Soon's Sushi I say to you: FOR SHAME! The only explanation is that one of two things happened during your dining experience. 1. You were all smoking crack 2. You are all employees at this place. I've never written a yelp review before in my life, but I felt morally obligated to warn people about this awful awful restaurant. That is how strongly I felt about my experience. (7:40 pm)Let's dive into the evening. We started by rolling up to the dingy building and were a little nervous, but figured hey maybe it's just a local authentic place. When we were seated we began to notice some of the creepiest decor of all time. There were random traditional Korean women's dresses hanging(on coat hangers) on the walls. Apparently this is so little kids can try them on and have their picture taken and posted on the wall. I guess some people found this cute, but it was basically the creepiest thing of all time. After about 10 minutes the waitress, who maybe said 3 sentences to us all night, came and asked if we would like anything to drink. This was basically the highlight of the evening because realistically it is next to impossible to screw up Coke. Easily the best part of the night was that our waitress kept the fountain drinks flowing! She came back and took our order of a couple rolls of sushi. We got the spicy Titanic roll, a rainbow roll. and some spicy udon noodles. After a few minutes we got the Miso soup that came with it. I knew we were in for a treat when my date had to salt her soup. It was not good. Way too much greenery and the tofu was like slime. Now we come to the large break in our evening. I'm not sure what to write about the next hour of our evening except that we were at least supplied with a refill or two of Coke. Oh wait, I know what I wanted to mention! Since all we had for sustenance was carbonated high fructose corn syrup, this meant a trip to the bathroom. OH THE BATHROOM! After a trip through the bead curtain to the back area we must have been transported into Kenosha's finest dive bar. Or at least that's what the bathroom reflected. The duct tape on the urinal was not a good sign. Mildew, rust and I'm sure a number of living things adorned the walls of this bathroom(men and women's, as my date used the little girl's room and was mortified as well). Had to get out of there quickly. (8:45 pm) After about an hour of thinking we were being punk'd and looking around to see if there was a hidden camera show going on my noodles finally came out. JOY! Our food was finally here! But not really. I think they must have been catching the fish for the sushi still because even though it was a dish that required no cooking only preparation, the sushi rolls did not come out for another 15 minutes. Maybe I'm not familiar with the Kenosha local custom of bringing one diner their food 15 minutes before the other one. The worst part about all of this was that it wasn't even full or crowded. There were plenty of empty tables. (9:00 pm) Finally all of our food arrives. We start to dig in to the mediocre at best food. The noodles had decent flavor and at least the rolls were large portions. When I found a bone in my chicken that was in the noodles and the rolls began falling apart we decided to throw in the towel. The sushi was unappetizing and they clearly weren't spending the time freshly catching the fish because it did not taste right at all. We paid our bill as quickly as possible and got out of Dodge in a hurry. We were absolutely perplexed with the entire experience. Especially after getting home and reading all the positive reviews online. I felt a strong need to call out every single positive review of this place because they must be leading so many people astray. I really blame myself though. I should have known better. Just please please don't subject yourself to this place. OH I ALMOST FORGOT. The country music playing in the Korean restaurant really was the last straw. If I could I would subtract one more star to get it down to a rating of zero. Congrats Soon's is so bad that it caused me to spend a part of my life writing this yelp review.

Yelp
I have been a loyal customer of Soon's for about 2 years now, eat at this place at least once a month. It is my favorite little hole in the wall sushi joint. Fish is always fresh and chefs are very skillful in their craft. I usually get sushi but have also eaten hibachi and it is just as high quality. They never compromise on ingredients and service is always very friendly and homey. I would recommend it to first time eaters and enthusiasts alike!

Yelp
Head to Soon's for the first time last night for Valentine's Day. Probably not the best idea, because they were CRAZY busy. Because of that, service was really, really slow. But, they were very sweet about it and we didn't feel like we were getting ignored. The food was excellent. We ordered the tuna roll, a spicy tuna roll, the East roll, the Burning Fire roll and a few pieces of a few pieces of random sushi. The sushi itself was amazing! Huge pieces of fish with just enough rice. Yum! I was also really impressed with the rolls. There was a lot to them for the price. Some places really skimp on the fish in their rolls, but not Soon's. My husband and I both LOVED the East roll. We had never tried a roll like that before and loved the flavor combination. The Burning Fire roll was also quite the experience. It comes out to the table, wrapped in foil and literally on fire. I really enjoyed the flavor of the roll, but my husband was a little weird out by the warm sushi. Give it a shot though... I do need to mention the decor though. Other reviews mention how it is a cute little local place. Little and local yes...but it's really pretty dive-y. It's almost a little off putting when you walk in. Think Christmas lights, beaded curtains and silk ivy. But don't let this scare you off! The food is worth it, I promise. I can't wait to go back. Maybe lunch tomorrow?
