"Rolls at the Cedar Park Japanese restaurant run the gamut from decadent with salmon with shaved truffles to simple but dependable nigiri. There’s a second location down on South Lamar. Takeout orders can be placed online; both locations have indoor dine-in services and South Lamar has a patio." - Nadia Chaudhury, Erin Russell

"The original Soto location is technically in Cedar Park, but it’s so close to Northwest Austin and extremely delicious that it had to be included on this list. This sushi restaurant is dishing up gorgeous cuts of fish on its makimono menu. Save room for green tea tiramisu." - Darcie Duttweiler

Soto never disappoints! Always a friendly team with a casual clean environment. We ordered a bottle of cold sake that lasted the table of 4 for the entire dinner. Entrees arrived in a timely manner and on our next visit we want to save room for dessert! Overall, great food, service and atmosphere.

Google
Soooooo good. Had the pleasure of coming here last year for a birthday, And had to come back for my own this year. Food is so clean and good. While living on the west coast, I got spoiled with good sushi, and this is some of the best in austin. Highly recommend the land and sea roll, Torched Wagyu, Spicy Tuna, Serrano, Avocado I've also never been a fan of Brussel sprouts, but wow I could eat that appetizer all day. Great service as well, waiter was very knowledgeable and had a bunch of specials as well that were not listed online. My wife doesn't eat sushi and they had a vegetarian menu as well. A little on pricey side, but would be a fabulous evening.

This was by far the best high quality sushi restaurant i've ever been in Austin area! We had the Agedashi Tofu as an appetizer, Uni Pasta and Sushi & Sashimi combo for an entree. The taste was amazing. I've never had Sushi & Sashimi Lunch Combo come out that luxurious!! and the taste, I can't even start with it.. just the PERFECTION.... We've been to uchi or other high end restaurants and we always return home with some emptiness and hungry stomach but this place gives you plenty of food that will fill you up quickly. I guarantee you'll leave this place with high satisfactions. We also had the two desserts which was the Yuzu Ball (2) and Green Tea Tiramisu. It was so cute and very delicious!! Also we weren't 100% sure but we were guessing that manager has comped our Tiramisu which was SOO kind of you!! I couldn't say thank you for your kindness and care before we leave but next time we see you we'll thank you for sure!! Lastly, the service was top tier!! our server has explained the layout of the menu and kindly took care of us! very nice! I felt bad that I couldn't leave more tips!

Google
Fantastic food. Knock your socks off good. Knowledgeable staff. Very high quality food. I recommend the truffle wagyu risotto and the lobster tempura. Sushi is off the freaking chain. HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone with excellent taste in Japanese food.

Google
The quality of food is very fresh. But paying $300 for my family with 3 young kids. we are not half full. We ordered one Omakase, Chile Gill Bass, two Ramens.

Google
This place is great! It's very unassuming from the outside but as you enter, You're taken into a world of deliciousness. The interior is nice and clean. The people are super friendly. The food was on point. Awesome sushi. They also have quite a few A5 wagyu beef menu items. I tried their wagyu gyoza. I've never heard of beef gyoza before but these we're so good.

Google
A chaotic valentines’s day night by overbooking. We had to wait for 30 min after our reserved time for a mediocre dinner that does not worth the price. 10 courses meal took us 2 hr 30 min to finish, because we had to wait for an ridiculous time between the courses. Still felt hungry after all. And we smelled like cooked beef as we exit the restaurant because one of the course is hot stone wagyu beef, the smoke filled the entire room and the ventilation is so bad. And the price for two including tips is $400, will not come back.

As someone who frequents Soto for special occasions, it has always been my go to spot. I had very high hopes for their Valentine’s Day special, I always have had a very good dining experience here and unfortunately tonight was not the case. I am a reasonably patient person, but by no means was it okay to be waiting 45 minutes to be seated after my reserved time. Also thank you for making every dude that booked a reservation having to see the disappointment in their significant other and putting people in a sour mood to begin with. There was no apologies for the circus that they had created by over booking. I had originally booked on Monday but it didn’t go through, so I called on Tuesday and I was told they will accommodate us and our time slot was 845. Rather than simply saying we are booked for the evening and being honest, you tried to take advantage of as many people as you could. And it’s a shame, I would’ve went somewhere else and still been a customer in the future. But the true colors of this business showed and it is extremely disappointing. After coming here for years and years and spending a very large chuck of change, after that disrespect I will not be returning nor recommending this place to anyone. To have a cancellation fee on top of everything is absolutely ridiculous and made people feel obligated to stay there. If you have that fee, YOU BETTER PROVIDE THE OTHER END OF THAT SERVICE! That is a horrible way to do business and whoever decided that should be ashamed of themselves. I work very hard for my money and to get the bill of $400 with tip at the end of the night was almost a joke, especially after the fact that we waited over 30 mins to get our bill, by me going up to our waiter at the register. Do yourself a favor and try the variety of other awesome sushi places around the area, these people will take your money and brag about how they are making money hand over fist right in front of your face. Do better Soto

Yelp
This was one of the first restaurants we went to when we moved to 620. This was 6 or 7 years ago. So this updated review is long over due. I couldn't tell you how many times we have been here, but I can tell you we have never had a bad experience. We have gone for lunch during the week, many Monday all day happy hours, and several weekend dinners. We have celebrated my birthday here on multiple occasions. Taken our boat charter captains (Nauti ATX Charters), family and friends. We have even taken our 18 month old over the last year and a half. I mention this because not once did we ever feel unwelcome when we arrived after a day out on the lake or with our young child. Being a new parent is not easy and fortunately every server has been wonderful towards him. If you're looking to bring your kiddo yes they have high chairs available. My two favorite items to get for Monday Happy Hour are the Chili Hamachi and Tuna Truffle. We almost always get a Miso and Truffle Edamame for appetizers. My favorite roll is their Hamachi Apple because it's so light and refreshing. Very unique in flavor. Hubs likes octopus and their soft shell crab. We both love their Chilean Sea Bass. I don't believe it's on the menu but our wonderful server Kevin (ask for him, he's great!) recommended Toro Tataki. One of our new favorites! If you're looking for something non-sushi related I cannot recommend TRUFFLE RISOTTO W/A5 WAGYU or UNI PASTA enough!! Easily in my top 10 dishes I've ever ate at any restaurant. I couldn't tell you which dessert to pick because we have had all their desserts almost every time we have been and loved them every time. Soto is our favorite sushi place and top 5 restaurants in the Austin area.

Yelp
Wanna learn about saki (an area in which I'm woefully ignorant)? Wanna have some excellent sushi? The same answer for both: Soto's. Came to Austin to see family and the total solar eclipse, but after family Soto's took the prize. (Sorry Austin, you may be a great place for other reasons but when cloudy you're not a very good place to witness the TSE). Soto's, however, is a great place to go for some expertly prepared sushi accompanied by an education about saki. Loved our server who was our saki sommelier. He let us taste three different selections, each with its own characteristics. One knocked it out of the park. Absolutely loved it. So sign me, David "ASS" (A Saki Sampler:) M.

Yelp
Came in for my birthday dinner! We got a reservation at 7:45pm and technically didn't need it since there were some tables open. Our waiter was Sean, and he was so accommodating. We told him that we had 2 hard of hearing people, and he did his best to make sure we could hear him. Had to ask him to repeat things a couple of times because there were some very loud people near us. He was very patient with us! Loved everything about Sean. He was very energetic to talk about the food and the different alcohol they have. If he didn't know, he asked the bartenders. I ended up asking about 2 different wines. He was able to get samples of them for me. Whoopee!! The food was great. I basically took a bite out of everything. My favorite was the hon maguro flight and the katsu. The pork was soooo juicy! We all loved our desserts. They were unique in their own ways.

Yelp
Wow! This place is so good! The fish taste fresh and was delicious. I wish I could tell you everything I ordered but I don't really remember. The staff were super friendly and it has a nice ambiance. The location is very unassuming, but I definitely want to come again. I heard their uni pasta is really good

Yelp
Beautiful, zenned out space. We started with fatty king yellowtail from Japan that was super yum. Lamb lollipops were super super yummy. Nabeyaki udon best in Texas so far but egg was a bit overcooked. Delicious chef's choice nigiri. The biggest plate of chicken in a yum chicken terriyaki. Rice was not good. Chocolate lava cake totally kid approved! Raucous kitchen and laughing chefs indicate happy staff which we love!

Dina C.

Yelp
Loved this hidden gem! Everything we ordered was delicious that we had to end up ordering more of the same dishes. The location isn't known for the best food spots but this place can definitely get me to come to this area more. The service was very good and quality of the food was top notch. Definitely recommending to friends when they are looking for a sushi place in Austin/cedar park

Yelp
I think if my tempura order wasn't taken wrong I'd feel different but messing up your order is pretty frustrating. The dragon roll was amazing and the real California roll. I thought the wrong tempura, they gave me the shrimp dinner portion when I asked for lobster tempura. That tempura was pretty oil and didn't feel light. Usually although deep fried the best places make it not greasy. Ambiance was very hidden away and very authentic in its decor which was nice. Amazing ambiance.

Yelp
Tried the Soto on South Lamar and wasn't impressed so I wanted to give this other location a shot. Oh I'm definitely glad I did! On to the food: Miso Chilean Sea Bass - This is definitely a complex dish that brings joy to my taste buds. The outside of the fish is nice and crunchy but the inside meat is soft, flaky and fresh. Also not going to lie, the side of rice is just amazing. It's very fluffy, with just enough of a sticky texture to make it perfect. Top all this with their slightly sweet flavorful sauce and to me, this dish is a legend in my book. Soto Sushi Roll - This roll leaves more to be desired. I'm a bit disappointed in that the fish doesn't have much taste to it and there was a large amount of cucumber which overpowers the flavor of anything else. Dessert - Matcha Green Tea Tiramisu By far, THE best matcha green tea tiramisu I've ever eaten. If you are a matcha lover, you will be making a mistake if you step out the door without ordering this gem. It's not too sweet and just tastes wonderful to the very last bite. Service is impeccable and very accomodating. The only gripe I have is the funky music. At times, it was nice jazzy lounge music but then abruptly there's some funky music like Farley Funk blasting away and it just doesn't fit the ambience.

Yelp
Soto is an impeccable experience every single time we dine with them. My husband and I live in the lakeline proximity and will always choose Soto for a comfortable lunch or fine dining dinner meal if we need a little celebration pep! Our picks for their bento lunch entrees along with beautiful presentation, friendly staff and the bar seating cannot be beat when it comes to dining at Soto's space. The space inside is intimate and cozy, and definitely helps you wind back the hustle and bustle of stepping back out into the reality of rush. It's never the case when we sit down and nom :) We keep coming back and won't be able to stop! Flaming salmon is our forever ordering favorite dish, and same with the oysters!

Yelp
Our server John was super friendly and welcoming. He explained the menu thoroughly for newcomers. Great lunch special! Thanks

Nihilaa K.

Yelp
Went here for my husband's birthday on a Monday. All day was happy hour! Food was on point . We ordered: Shrimp dainamaito- wow!! Cooked to perfection and melted in our mouths. We asked for the chilli oil on the side and it was fab with it! Karage chicken - nice and crispy, cooked well but nothing too special about it but did not disappoint. Tuna truffle- must try and one of a kind! Salmon nigiri, spicy tuna katsu maki and yuzu salmon maki - were all delicious and the fish was fresh. Mini sushi tacos - what an innovation ! Thoroughly enjoyed this dish. I had called ahead saying that it was my husband's birthday and they got us a green tea tiramisu (on the house) which was delish! Will definitely come back here :)

Yelp
First, our server saved the day. She was a queen and held it together with class because pookie (instagram reference/hubby) was about to explode in fury. He had planned to take me to Uchi because I absolutely love sushi but figured they were going to be too busy and if you know it's almost elbow to elbow in that restaurant. We got to Soto at around 9 pm (reservation time) and confused as to why couples were waiting outside. Come to find out that they all too had reservations and were asked to wait another 30-35 minutes. From talking to other couples, they have been waiting for longer. Pookie decided to stay and wait it out in the car. After about 35 minutes he went back inside to check but told if we were okay with sharing a table. Uh oh. He refused as he wanted it special and doesn't want to listen to people's drama. He was still surprisingly calm. It was nearly 10 PM and we were called - we got to the host stand and they said they had to seat someone else, another girl interrupted and said that they already seated them. Phew. So we got sat and were greeted by our amazing server who immediately apologized and told us that they were only serving the valentines course for $150 per person. Oop. Wished they told us beforehand because we wanted specific items in the menu. Pookie was turning into a grumpy bear and what made it worse is that a food runner just plopped a dish in our table and we had no idea what that was. We haven't even ordered our drinks. Smoke from the wagyu filled the restaurant as they were just running the dish to all of the table. I wanted to smell like vanilla oud perfume not a delicious piece of The entire course was delicious and our server knew everything about the dishes. The experience left a bad taste and the vibe went downhill ever since their soft opening years ago. Not sure if we will go back but our server deserves a raise and a full course omakase. Slay queen!

Yelp
Soto is an absolute gem! The sushi is truly amazing, and the Brussel sprouts... out of this world. Make sure to try them along with their rolls. It's a spot I can't get enough of!

Jeremy T.

Yelp
I visited with a small group, ordered 6 rolls, the avocado roll, land and sea, dragon, lobster tempura, rock shrimp feast, and soto sashimi. We also had the pork katsu, salmon teriyaki, steamed Shumai, house salad, and nebeyaki udon soup. For sashimi, we ordered the madai, ivory white king salmon, and fatty king yellowtail. My favorite roll was easily the land and sea. It has the trifecta: high quality ingredients, saucy, and nice layer of flavors. The sashimi were all very good. This restaurant is not cheap, but so good, so come with your credit cards. Also, it was a little hard to find as I drove right by it the first time I came.

Yelp
Stopped by here for lunch and it was amazing !! Excellent service, food and decor - this is a must return for me. I had the Seaweed salad which was delicious, so fresh and one of the best I have ever had! This was followed but the tuna with truffle oil which was out of this world. They have a large menu with so many options I will have to return to try more! Delicious !!

Bobby H.

Yelp
Off the hook good. My friend took me here for lunch and absolutely loved it. So, so satisfying. Can't wait to go back.

Victoria H.

Yelp
WOW. This place was awesome. My husband took me here for a celebration & this place was nothing less than amazing. The presentation of the food was so cool & our server was helpful since this was our first time. We got this salmon that was lit on fire or something & it was really cool & also delicious. The inside of restaurant was an experience as well, I kinda felt like we were in a fancy cave (in the best way lol). Definitely somewhere I suggest experiencing because it's really neat & the food is delicious.

Yelp
This review is mostly for there drink, not for sushi!! After dropping our kiddo to his class, me n hubby decided to stop by for a quick drink, the lady who checked us in was friendly and welcoming, our host was okay. Hubby got hot sake, I ordered a cocktail, I think it's called Nashi, and we each ordered chicken karage with our drinks, chicken karage was okay, it more like nuggets than karage, Nashi, it was fresh and on sweeter side, but the quantity for the price, it's total ripoff, it half glass in a small cocktail glass, pic below, so dint dare to order another one, overall if you don't care for money then visit otherwise skip it.

Yelp
Every time we visit Soto the food and service make it a special occasion. Easily the best Sushi in Cedar Park. Everything we have tasted has been delicious . The toro appetizer is small but fantastic. Sushi is always flavorful. Refimmended

Ananya S.

Yelp
Wow - very impressive every bite was delicious! Luckily we were there during happy hour - 5 to 6:30 I think - so we ordered so much... I only like nigiri and handrolls and sashimi so I stuck to those and my girlfriend ordered maki. So flavorful! And that little amuse bouche was lovely and refreshing. That's fried green onion on the sashimi which was a nice touch of crunch. I can't wait to try the Soto in Houston! Go during happy hour!!!

Rolando N R.

Yelp
If you like a quick sushi fix this place will do. Waiter are friendly and ambiance is so so.

Angel T.

Yelp
Ambience here is nice and quiet, so definitely a date night type place, but casual enough for walk-ins. The walk- in aspect is something hard to find in Austin at a good sushi places so this is always welcome. Service was nice and attentive. 5 stars all around. In terms of variety of food, I think they have one of the most unique variety of nigiri other than maybe your omakase places and uchi and uchiko. They had 3 types of aji (mackerel - some were seasonal) when most only have one, ivory white salmon, two kinds of uni, blue fin tuna, flounder, and many more unique fish that you don't find much anywhere else. 5 stars for this. The 4 stars is mainly due to the higher prices I seem to pay whenever I come here. I feel like the prices should be more similar to Ichiban on burnet, but the prices are more like Uchi. Which I understand for the great sushi selection they have. However, for their other things such as their miso soup, whose size was similar to a large teacup. Talk about ridiculous, especially when years ago it was definitely the normal bowl sizes. The soup spoon didn't even lay correctly like soup spoons should bc the "bowl" was so small. Maybe it "presented better" but the soup and it's cost is ridiculous. Am I docking one star just bc I'm appalled by the soup...yes I am because I know how to make it for cents on the dollar at home. Some of the other more negative reviews seem to agree on the fact that some of the prices just don't make sense and feels like a rip off. If you're wanting run of the mill sushi, go somewhere else more affordable. If you are a sushi afficionado looking for a unique selection, this place is for you.

Yelp
After reading the reviews I decided to check this place out. I called to see when happy hour was and the girl who answered the phone was super helpful with answering my questions. Happy Hour on Sunday is 3pm-6pm. When I arrived the hostess who I talked to on the phone greeted me and sat me immediately. I waited about 10 minutes before anyone came by to help me which was annoying because it wasn't busy and I saw a few servers just standing around. Simon finally came to help me and his service was impeccable. He explained the menu and gave me suggestions. Everything I ate was delicious!! The fish was fresh and all the flavors with the sauces were incredible. The ambiance was very nice and bright. Everything looked clean and they had pretty simple decor. One of the things I was reading in the reviews is this place is pricy and it is. I ordered 4 items off the happy hour menu and one roll and dessert and it came out to $85! Plus a $14 tip total was $100. The portions were very small. I think if I had sake or something other than tea I could have easily spent well over $125 just on my own. Lastly when I left the hostess held the door open for me and asked how everything was which was super sweet of her. She definitely does a great job. I didn't catch her name but she was very nice. Free parking Overall great place and I couldn't go here for lunch regularly but it was a nice treat. I think they could have a better happy hour menu. The prices just seem like regular price and small portions.

Yelp
Wow, in rereading our review from almost seven years ago, we kind of have to say that we nailed it. This place has not changed one bit--except now there is more paint chipped off the walls and their omakase has increased in price. We came here for one reason and one reason only: we have friends who live in Cedar Park who wanted to go. The decor is still tacky (the lighting by the bar looks like in belongs on the Vegas strip). They do carry one of our favorite beers (Nest white ale), so that is a plus, and the apps were decent. The green salad was a basic bae, but she was good to get some veggies in. The brussels were also good even if we'll never understand the use Japanese-goat cheese connection. So were the shishito peppers. We tried the mushroom risotto, and we do have to say that it was genuinely delicious. The mushroom flavor really sang, the texture was just right, and the truffle was not overwhelming. Well done. Our three tuna rolls, though, were just OK. Most were overloaded with stuff, which makes is even weirder that they all tasted flat-noted. The tempura one was probably the best. We got that weird matcha tiramisu again (the glass is still floating in the green-looking algae!) and a chocolate cake that tasted like it was microwaved, which it probably was. The irony is that one of us recently went to the south Lamar location with some friends, and it is seriously better in every possible way. It's like a night and day experience. Maybe they put all their resources there? We hope that we won't be back again for seven more years.

Yelp
This is located near the party city. If you follow Yelp directions it takes you to Cluckers. Was able to be sat right away on a Friday night. Great ambiance perfect for a date. Excellent service and delicious food. If you love sashimi this is the place for you. Not too many sushi roll options but the food was excellent. This pear mixed drink was so smooth and delicious I wanted a bucket of it.

Yelp
Came for weekday lunch on a Wednesday and got the $26 Kawasaki lunch special. For the variety and quality, it was worth it. It was not very busy for lunch that day when we arrived but started to pick up a little when we left. The decor and atmosphere inside are very clean and modern. The staff is all very nice even though our waitress was new and less experienced. My lunch buddy and I both got the Kawasaki lunch with sushi and sashimi because you get to try a little of a lot of things. Each person gets to select a roll. I selected tuna mango tempura and my buddy selected the spicy salmon. The tuna mango tempura was probably the most disappointing item because the fish tasted a little fish once it was flash fried. In addition, we each added a piece of the salmon toro nigiri which was incredible. Everything was fresh and delicious. Nothing blew me away (well, maybe the salmon toro a little) but everything was solid and tasty. For a lunch combo, it was worth it. However the rest of the menu has SF/NYC prices. Given those prices, I hope the a la carte items are better.

Yelp
I accidentally happened into this gem of a place during lunch after making a wrong turn. This was the most delicious accident of 2023. The ambiance is super cool. Really friendly staff. Very soothing and calm vibe inside. I was seated immediately at the sushi bar. The menu is very extensive and detailed. I opted for the lunch menu and ordered the sushi and sashimi Kawasaki, peach flavored sake, and the green tea tiramisu. The Kawasaki is a bento box concept which is great, because you end up enjoying a variety of different flavorings. I literally inhaled everything on my bento plate shamelessly. It was so incredibly delicious. I had some allergy accommodations with no problems at all. I took the tiramisu to go. I did not get a picture of this as I had planned because...I inhaled this too I'm not a big fan of the miso soup and my server ended up substituting the soup with an additional salad. I definitely recommend Soto 10/10.

Nanisi W.

Yelp
Great ambiance. Came here for a lunch date with my little who was craving sushi. She ordered the maki lunch special and i ordered the sushi and sashimi lunch. Overall it WAs pretty good. I don't think it's the best sushi in austin and it's def on the pricier side but we did enjoy our time there. The service was okay. I did not enjoy the fact that not all of our leftovers were packed for us, some were thrown out without us knowing.

Lena S.

Yelp
I went to celebrate my birthday and Sean our server was amazing! Had a great time and everyone bringing out our food was amazing too! This is our new dinner spot!

ChiChi C.

Yelp
My heart is broken. I feel like my high school crush just called things off. I used to highly recommend Soto! They had the freshest sashimi in town! Sorry, not sorry about being a sushi snob. After visiting more than 40 locations throughout Austin, I came to declare this place as "The best!". I still feel that the service is impeccable and that's usually half the experience. Tonight, however, I've changed my tune. I'd feel guilty and perhaps be legally accountable for recommending their questionable fish. Did this place change ownership or is my ex working in the kitchen? It's gone from "the Best" to, "is this even legal?" I've tried to work this out..... I've always left a good tip, always polite (it's my one a month solitary date with myself so, no one else can be held as being inappropriate), 99.99% of the time I'm intrigued and amazed by the presentation and the plating, it USED to be perfection! Tonight, I ate Toro that tasted like it should've been thrown out two days ago and that would still be too old. I then ordered my "go to" salmon skin hand roll. It was so disgusting, words can't describe my disappointment. The pic might look better than it tasted. No flair and no taste! In the past, it was succulent, crispy and melt in your mouth. It used to be adorned with sprouts and in seasonal accoutrements that added a splash of color and flavor. I appreciate various cuisines for what is considered the best representation from that part of the world. French food, subtle flavor that's melded together in perfect harmony. Mexican food, a powerful palate that hits every sensation, profoundly romantic. Sushi, known for PRECISION, usually to a degree so extend my naked eye can't compute, the artistic perfection. Yet, tonight this past perfection or "top notch purveyors" , precision cuts and presentation that would have pleased Archimedes himself has now de-evolved to an abysmal Pollock puke inducing horror. Something has changed, ownership, management, not sure what.... Gas station sushi would be an improvement upon what I experienced tonight and I mean that with every bit of my soul and then some. I took a pic of my hand roll I took one bite of this evening. The salad was ok. But, the rest of my meal was beyond reproach!

Yelp
My fiancé and I had high hopes for Valentine's Day dinner at Soto in Cedar Park, having made our reservation well in advance and being fully aware of the $75 per person cancellation/no-show fee. This fee, steep as it is, seemed reasonable for guaranteeing a special night out. Unfortunately, our experience fell drastically short of expectations, leading to a deeply disappointing evening. Upon our timely arrival, we were immediately struck by the scene: a crowded entryway filled with no less than 10 other dismayed couples, some of whom had been waiting 30 to 45 minutes past their reservation time. After a prolonged wait and line just to check in, the situation only worsened. The host openly admitted to us that the restaurant had overbooked for the evening, suggesting a minimum 30 to 40 minute wait for our table--a wait that, realistically, looked to be much longer given the number of people ahead of us. The practice of overbooking, particularly on a significant occasion like Valentine's Day, demonstrates a profound disregard for patrons' time and the meaning of reservations. This approach not only demonstrates a lack of respect for your patrons' time and plans but also hints at a distressing level of greed, effectively 'double dipping' by charging penalties for potential no-shows while also overbooking to maximize turnout. The fact that Soto would risk everyone's plans by overbooking, all while holding a hefty cancellation fee over our heads, is not only inconsiderate but borders on deceitful. Feeling scammed out of a great night out and disappointed, we made the decision to leave. The outcome was a Valentine's Day spent at home, far removed from the romantic dinner we had envisioned. This review is written not out of spite, but from a place of genuine disappointment and the hope that Soto will rectify this situation ASAP. Overbooking and undermining the trust of your patrons is unacceptable. I urge Soto to take this feedback seriously and ensure that no other customers endure the frustration and letdown we experienced on what should have been a celebratory evening.

Yelp
Ok, went for it. Tried the Wagyu Beef Sashimi ( 2 pieces) and splurged on the Foie Gras...omg Transcending. The slight smoke, little warm around the edge, room temperature fat just coated my mouth with love like a magic carpet ride. Dang, so decadent, fantastic! Also had a Rainbow added Japaleno and lemon, fresh, vibrant, love. Dragon roll needed mor surprise. Otherwise would have given 5 stars. Pleasant server, classy sleek interior. Would definitely come back. Oh, wanted to add, Google gives slightly incorrect directions, place is next to Party City, across from Best Buy.

Yelp
This japanese restaurant was on my list for a while and we finally visited for happy hour. It has nice, upscale interior & atmosphere, would be great for dates, girl's night-out, business meeting, but probably not for family has young kids (didn't see any kid's menu). We started with hot sake and Sapporo dark beer and ordered some sushi (masago, eel, salmon, escolar). I'm not sure if it would be different if we ordered sushi from the regular menu, but the sushi we got was very tiny. (It was about my pinky size?) I usually get full with 8 pcs of sushi, but I think I can eat at least 20 pcs here. Yeah, so they were small, but delicious. We also ordered brussels sprout, soft shell crab, sushi taco which were all tasty! We spent around 100 bucks for two of us and we are not heavy eaters, but we left hungry and had to grab something else on the way home. lol Staff was all attentive, service could have been a bit faster, but it was alright considering we visited during their happy hour.

Yelp
Soto, A quiet, peaceful and beautiful ambient restaurant located in Cedar Park. Walking through their traditional doors into a beautiful mild dark setting to dine in. The service that they give you at the door is perfect. They greet you, ask for a reservation and seat you promptly. When seated we had the pleasure of the bartender greeting us and waiting on us. The conversation was great, he went through what Soto is, who owns it, what the menu entails etc. He made the first time experience amazing. Throughout our dinner we ordered a plethora of their items. Every dish has its own twist, which is the best part of this restaurant, and is served on beautiful plating (See below). The food was amazing, the hospitality was completely past my expectations and the environment was such an amazing time. Our bill totalled around $200. We received 2 dishes complimentary, one from the manager and one from the bartender who was thrilled to have us try dishes they loved. Lastly, I was gifted a virgin drink made by our bartender on the house. Anyone thinking about trying Soto, regardless of location, will have the up most experience. Thank you Soto for such a great time, we will definitely be back for seconds!

Yelp
This sushi spot has become my absolute go-to whenever a sushi craving hits, and for good reason. While it's true that it leans towards the pricier side, every bite is an experience that makes it worth every penny. When my kids realize we're heading elsewhere for sushi, they're genuinely disappointed. That speaks volumes about the quality of this place! Opting for the omakase is always a culinary adventure that always impresses. Unlike some omakases where you leave still craving more, here, you leave utterly satisfied. I was treated to an array of 11 dishes, and I'm not just talking about individual pieces of nigiri. The Toro trio plate, with chutoro, otoro, and akami, was a harmonious blend of flavors on the palate. The seasonal fishes they incorporate are nothing short of extraordinary. The fire salmon has become a personal favorite and is almost always a part of the experience. Watching them light up fatty salmon belly on a lemongrass stalk is a spectacle. Combining liqueur and espresso beans creates a mesmerizing flame that adds a unique touch to an exceptional dish. I turn to their Japan Express menu when not going for the omakase. It's a brilliant concept that keeps things fresh and exciting as they rotate in seasonal and specialty fishes. The dedication to quality, the creative presentation, and the unforgettable flavors make every visit a culinary journey. This place has earned its spot as a family favorite and a top recommendation for any sushi lover. You won't be disappointed!

Yelp
This review is purely based on the experience. We paid $470 for a dinner for 2. The food was good, but nowhere near the price tag. We joined Soto for their Valentines Day Omakase. Some of the dishes were really delicious, but this review is more indicative of the service. It felt less personal and more rushed than expected. We got our first 2 courses before our drinks even arrived. Every course was rushed and there were times where my husband finished before I did and we had the next courses sitting at the table before we even finished the prior course. I wouldn't call this a luxury dining experience. For the price of the food and the rushed nature, I would have much rather preferred going to another restaurant. Once again, this is not indicative of the quality of food. It was pretty darn good as it usually is, but I wouldn't come back here for an event or dining experience. Would have much preferred to spend half a grand elsewhere.

Yelp
During my dinner visit, I began with the miso soup, which, though lacking tofu, boasted a flavorful broth. The spicy edamame were cooked to perfection, though a touch more spice could have elevated them. Moving on to the Jalapeño Toro, while it was tasty, the fish didn't shine as the sauce took the spotlight; a lighter hand with the sauce-to-fish ratio would have let the fish's natural flavor shine through. The Crunchy Salmon roll was enjoyable but could have used more kewpie Mayo, leading me to rely on soy and wasabi to enhance the flavors. To conclude, the Green Tea Tiramisu was a delightful finish, exceptionally creamy. In sum, it was a satisfying dining experience overall.

Yelp
Fancy night out! Will you walk out of there with a full stomach? Not unless you're planning on dropping serious $$$. But the experience, innovation, and the taste of the dishes were all excellent and, in my opinion, worth the price tag. We ordered the Chilean sea bass soup, uni pasta, tuna foie gras, toro truffle, and escolar nigiri. The sea bass soup was delicious. The fish was really tender and the broth had a strong savory flavor with a nice hit of spiciness. The napa cabbage was also worth a shout out. If you love the napa cabbage in hot pot, you'll love this as well. Only thing was that the flavors of the soup and the cabbage can overpower the subtle taste of the fish. The uni pasta was the most memorable dish of the night, after the soup. I don't have a lot of experience of uni-based dishes under my belt, but this pasta was really delicious I could easily devour another plate of this. The pasta was so creamy with the uni and the egg. The tuna foie gras was another hit. The combination of the creamy texture of the fish and the foie gras with the crispy shiso was super nice. Flavors of the fish along with that of the toro truffle and escolar was good, although simply overshadowed by the soup and the pasta before it. Overall, service was great and Soto sticks out compared to other high end japanese restaurants in that their dishes are more fun, interesting, and unique, while still having really great flavors.

Yelp
Remarkable. Ambience is nice. Service was spectacular. Drinks were delicious. But. The sushi. Wow. We each has the 23 course tasting menu. It was remarkable. The scallop (I don't like scallops normally) was shockingly good. For the two of us drinking heavily it was ecstatically expensive. Stunning really. Greater than $800 for two but we did pick the most extravagant item on the menu. But. Totally worth it.

Yelp
I am so sorry that I don't have any pics, I was distracted however presentation of plates were nice. We started with the hamachi appetizer, soft shell crab tempura, truffle tuna and tuna tacos. All appetizers could have had more flavor, less sweeter and larger portions. Most sashimi plates had 3 thin slices, 2-3" crispy rice/seaweed ahi tuna tacos were not very filling as an appetizer, we had to order 2 more orders. As for entrees, we had the seafood udon, grilled Chilean sea bass and a sushi special with spicy tuna. Overall, I feel that most appetizers and entrees were too sweet. If the food is good, it shouldn't need to be drowned in sweet sauces, perhaps offered on the side. Not a fan and probably will not be back. Our waitstaff was A1, she was knowledgeable, very personable and attentive to our needs, thank you!

Yelp
Amazing place. We took a advantage of some suggestions, and the chefs choice and that was not a mistake. Some items we liked better than others, but that's what happens when you trust someone else to make a presentation. Definitely would recommend. Reach out and try something different. Let them know what you think.

Yelp
Brooke was dope! Food was great and the service was better. Thanks for a special birthday.

Yelp
Trying a little too much with what should be the star of the meal, the fish. We came here for dinner - started off with some happy hour bites, which honestly were the better things we got. We also got an assortment of sushi dishes (sushi rolls, sashimi, etc.), I was expecting to see some great cuts of fish that were a bit more traditional, but what came out was I think a little too overly complicated. They add too much "extra" flavors/ingredients to their rolls, and I think you really lose the essence of what you are eating, which is the fish. Their salmon and yellowtail sashimi were great, I just wish more of their sushi was like this.

Yelp
Sushi is good, but a bit over priced compared to similar places. Service has just been okay last few times we have been in. Waited a while for our seats (with reservation) orders and drinks.

Yelp
We were lucky to get in on a busy Saturday night and wow! We were impressed. The food quality was top notch and so fresh! They have a creative menu with lots of options. We had the soft shell crab and wagyu beef gyoza to start and soooo amazing! The sushi rolls were super fresh and so tasty. Dessert was to die for! Highly recommend getting the passion fruit tart. They know what they're doing and it shows. Highly recommend for date night or special occasion as it is pricey, so delish!

Yelp
The food here is amazing! Having that said, my date and I went here extremely high AF. When we walked up to the door, we thought it was closed because all we saw was the deadbolt and not a "door handle". We were so confused. We took a step back and pondered for a few minutes trying to figure out how to get inside. All of a sudden, a group of people from the inside left. My date lunged forward to try and catch the door and he got a hold of the inner rim of the door barely hanging on with his fingers. We finally got inside and we both kept wondering "how DF do you open the door?" As we waited, we were looking on Yelp examining the door photos and realized that the black "decor" next to the deadbolt was the handle. We felt so ridiculous that we started laughing so hard, I was crying. He was wondering why I was still there with him and it was because he was my ride LOL I don't know if there is a moral to this story, but we can't be the first ones that had this "issue". Anyways, like I said, the food was amazing and we shared a bottle of sake. Food - 5 star Door - 1 star (jk)

Yelp
Food and drinks were absolutely delicious and amazing! The price is right for the great quality of food!!! My husband and I found the cedar park location and we have to say the quality is so similar to high quality restaurants in Japan! We are obsessed with this place

Yelp
We frequent Soto and love it. They did a great job on New Years Eve despite being crazy busy. They didn't even laugh at my friend, a 70 year old grown man, who couldn't use chopsticks (mind blowing to me!) they brought him the little holders for kids. Awesome.

Yelp
Went in on a Saturday afternoon, wasn't busy at all but the food was amazing! Staff was very attentive and provided recommendations and brought out a dessert on the house for us to finish with. We will definitely be back
