Austin’s New Restaurant & Bar Openings - Austin - The Infatuation

"From the team behind Veracruz All Natural—and right next door to the taco trailer’s Webberville location—Soul Seoul Sol is a food truck specializing in Mexican and Korean fusion dishes, like barbacoa cornbread and a crispy fried chicken sandwich with sweet chili sauce." - nicolai mccrary, matthew jacobs

Soul Seoul Sol - Review - East Austin - Austin - The Infatuation

"If you dropped a pin in the middle of a triangle connecting Texas, Mexico, and South Korea, you’d end up at Soul Seoul Sol, an East Austin daytime food truck slinging fusion dishes made with brisket, bulgogi, and barbacoa under the same roof. The menu reads like a potluck involving three different households, each mashing together their boldest flavors. The ideas are solid, and when they land, they really land, resulting in a brunch or lunch that’s equal parts familiar and inventive. But execution and portioning can occasionally fall flat, like barely-seared smashburger patties or a fried chicken sandwich that disappears in three bites. They’re not deal-breakers, but they keep Soul Seoul Sol from becoming the powerhouse merger it could be. Head over when your friends are stuck in line at Desnudo and you want something different from the usual Veracruz breakfast-taco routine next door. Food Rundown Fried Chicken Sammich This is spicier than the sweet Thai chili glaze lets on. The chicken is juicy, but ours barely covered the (already small) bun. At $15 without fries, the price tag feels a little steep for the portion. photo credit: Nicolai McCrary Seoul Hamburguesa Topped with smoked gouda, spicy mayo, charred jalapeño, and escabeche, the burger sounds great on paper. There’s not much that's Korean (or “Seoul”) about it, but that’s not the problem—the real issue is the texture. The patties taste more steamed than smashed, which makes for a mushy bite. photo credit: Nicolai McCrary Kimchi Pork Belly Fried Rice Well-seasoned and loaded generously with pork belly, this is a satisfying bowl of fried rice—and yet it’s not distinct enough to be a destination dish on its own. photo credit: Nicolai McCrary Breffas Grits A creative mash-up of creamy grits, crispy pork belly, and rich mole that actually works. It could use a little more sauce to go around, but this is a smart, well-balanced example of fusion done right. photo credit: Nicolai McCrary" - Nicolai McCrary

The Most Exciting Austin Restaurant Openings to Know Right Now, May 2025 | Eater Austin

"A fusion food trailer pairing Mexican and Korean flavors, parked beside an existing Webberville taco truck. Expect short rib bibimbap over fried rice loaded with spicy kimchi, pickled cucumbers, and a runny egg; a fried chicken sandwich dipped in Thai chili sauce with pear slaw; and an Instagram-ready hamburgesa featuring double smashed wagyu patties topped with smoked gouda, spicy mayo, charred jalapeños, and pickled slaw." - Brittany Britto Garley

Where do I even begin! I feel like I found a hidden gem, I have eaten here three times already! The food at Soul Seoul Sol is absolutely delicious, I have no problem eating it everyday! The flavors, presentation, portion size, the friendly staff *chefs’ kiss*!! It’s clearly obvious that Chef Ty cooks with heart and soul, which leaves you wanting more! I will gladly volunteer myself as tribute to eat more food from Chef Ty! Periodt!

This is my new favorite food truck in Austin, we’ve eaten here 5 times in the last 8 days. It’s consistently fresh and amazing. Today I tried the special, Korean fried chicken on a Belgian waffle, it was exceptional.

The food here is absolutely incredible. These were the best grits I’ve ever had by far. Chicken sandwich was also delicious. Highly recommend, food is some of the best in Austin and great prices. Looking forward to coming back

Definitely one of the best brunch/lunch places ever. I wanted to wait to review until after I tried everything... but I'll just update as I go because there's so many things to try + I keep wanting to get the same things that I loved! 😅 Best pancakes in Austin. Best I've had in my entire life actually. I've had Paperboy once to-go and maybe I need to retry them, but these beat them, and any other place I've tried. I am scared for myself for when they become a more regular thing because I will be getting them too often...😆 Chicken and beignets are also amazing. Some of the best chicken I've had in Austin. Extremely flavorful even without honey. Korean style is my favorite style of fried chicken too. I don't get it with the hot honey because I'm spice sensitive but my boyfriend loved the hot miso honey. The cornbread is also the best cornbread I've ever had. Not sure if a non-spicy barbacoa could be a possibility one day but my boyfriend loved the spicy barbacoa it came with. He said it's the best he's ever had (he also doesn't usually like barbacoa because it's often super greasy but this was not at all – perfect). The chicken sammich is also the best chicken sandwich I've had in my life. Korean fried chicken with Asian pear slaw is just top tier. Also the customer service is so genuine and great. Chef really cares about his craft and customers/regulars. He always makes me feel welcomed, appreciated, and not judged for my pickiness! 😆 With all of that said, this place is still very new and working through some kinks so it's important to have empathy and patience for small businesses. There was only one time I had to wait a bit long but it was still so worth it! Anyways, I love this place and the good vibes. I'm happy to support such a caring, creative, and delicious place! ❤️

The name caught my eye immediately as I was looking around the food trucks at the Webberville food truck park. It's a simple, yet ingenious, way to immediately communicate what you are getting yourself into ordering from their menu. The menu itself is short, but well designed to deliver on their name's promise. I ordered the Fried Chicken Sandwich and the Kimchi Pork Belly fried rice and, as well as a side of fries. The food itself was excellent while also being a great mashup of soul food and Korean dishes. The fries were almost chip-like and paired with a spicy mayo. Not only was there flavor, but the presentation was well done. Overall- excellent menu that delivers on what it sets out to accomplish. Do yourself a favor and order something from here. I will be going back to try to catch the chicken karaage and beignets before they are sold out. On top of this, the vibes in the food truck park are great. It almost feels like a neighborhood picnic or family picnic. Stop with a group of friends who all want something different and everyone will be happy!

A lot of people give this place credit for being good. However, on this super hot day. We were #2 with only one person ahead of us and our food took over 30 minutes. The chicken sandwich was decent with crunch and flavor but overpriced and did not come with fries. The barbacoa was dry and there was some random twig or dried meat thrown in my plate cause I think they were rushing. I would like to try it again but not worth waiting In the sun for that long. Red head host was nice though and kept apologizing and trying to help. Look at the picture of twig or dried meat.

The Breffas Grits were amazing! The texture of the grits was perfect and the pork belly had just the right amount of crunch to the edges. I 100% will be coming back!
