South Bowl - Review - South Philly - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"South Philly's South Bowl is a bowling alley with an outdoor batting cage and arcade space called The Yard in the summertime. You can come here for a catch-up with friends over drinks or to try your hand at bowling (first come, first serve lanes and cash-only). When it comes to the menu, you can expect pretzel bites, steak birria egg rolls, and other shareable options like fried chicken wing platters—including vegan—big enough for four. Bring your friends, sip on a few IPAS, live your Bryce Harper fantasy, and avoid the gutter balls." - Candis R. McLean

The Yard At South Bowl Review - South Philly - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"So you told your Tinder match you’re into sports. Have no fear—The Yard at South Bowl is here. The South Philly bowling alley has outdoor batting cages, bocce courts, shuffleboard, and arcade games, all on their massive outdoor patio. They also have decent crispy chicken sliders and shrimp tacos and after a few margaritas, you can sneak in a few points on your scoresheet and your date won’t even notice. " - Candis R. McLean

I came here with my husband and some friends. I really liked the atmosphere. The good was ok. I think those working at the bar could've been just a tad friendlier... but other than that we had a pretty good experience. It was a fun night. Parking wasn't too bad either but I'm sure depending on the day and time you go, it varies. For the most part it was a good night, and I wouldn't mind coming here again.

I came here with my husband, and some close friends. Atmosphere was really dope. There were 2 pool tables, some pinball machines, and other games there. The pizza wasn't too bad, but the tacos are really good. We all had a really great time. Parking was easy, but that may vary depending on what day and time you go. Would definitely come here again.

Google
Super fun blowing alley, bar, batting cages and entertainment complex. Ive been in bowling leagues here, had birthday parties here, been to a wedding reception here. Recently enjoyed the batting cages, bocce, corn hole area. Highly recommend. Will return, often.

I recently took my family to South Bowl for a fun night out, and it was an experience to remember! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the staff made sure we had everything we needed for a great time. We had an absolute blast bowling, but the highlight of the night was watching my four-year-old son get a strike! The excitement on his face was priceless, and it made the whole experience even more special. The lanes were well-maintained, and everything felt smooth and easygoing. The food and drinks were just as impressive as the bowling. We ordered a mix of appetizers and main dishes, and everything was fresh and delicious. The drinks were well-made, and the service at the bar was quick and friendly. What really stood out was the customer service and overall vibe—everyone from the front desk to the servers was attentive, friendly, and genuinely seemed to enjoy being there. The energy in the place was just right, making it the perfect spot for a relaxed but fun family night out. If you’re looking for a great bowling alley with good food, great drinks, and an awesome atmosphere, South Bowl is the place to go! We’ll definitely be back for another round (or several).

Google
I really enjoyed this bowling alley! The cocktails are good and strong. I did not get food this time, but the food there is pretty good. I like the menu. They have good customer service and polite employees! 🥰 South Bowl has a nice atmosphere, very fun vibe!

Google
I just love bowling. I love put on those damn little shoes. I love coming out with some friends and getting some drinks. They’ve just always very entertaining. I love knocking some pins around. South Bowl is clearly better than north pole. I think it’s just because the people are nicer and probably because they are more Italian.

Google
Its a hit or miss experience. Sometimes the service is stellar, sometimes you bowl a game or longer before someone comes to ask if you want food or drinks. If you go when Emily is working she is always very attentive and checks in often

Yelp
I love the Jackfruit Wings and Tater Tots w/o aioli. However, the wait time is extremely long. My previous visit was over an hour. Yesterday was the same. Audrey is so personable and pleasant, but it's not fair to the staff and customers to wait that long. I heard someone that was bowling saying that they waited over an hour as I was finally given my food to go. Someone asked me, why didn't I leave? Because the Jackfruit wings are delicious and unique. The metal chairs at the bar are not good for the back when waiting long to eat.

Yelp
I went here a few weeks ago for my friends birthday. It's like a hidden gem, I've passed here many times and never noticed it because it's in a industrial area. They had a hour and a half wait for bowling due to a birthday party. We chose to eat first due to this. The burger I had was a little spicy but it was good, leave it to me to order something I have no clue what it is. This came with tots. I had the house tequila and they surely didn't hold back, it was good. My friend was accidentally sent the wrong type of taco, they let her keep it and replaced it with the correct one. You can pay on card or cash for your food and drinks. For bowling you must pay in cash, they have an atm machine inside. We did two rounds of bowling and it was fun although I came in second place. I would certainly go again.

Yelp
If you are OF COLOR i would think twice about coming here. I would rate zero stars if i could. After sitting at the bar for 15 minutes. I noticed that the bartenders were serving people who came after me. After moving to the other side of the bar to get the other bartenders attention, i was told that i could not be served until everyone else was. Hire better bartenders who have had some sensitivity training because i could not help but notice I looked different from everyone else at the bar. 0/10 my entire experience was ruined. I will not be returning.

Yelp
First time outside. Nice time for bocce and great food. Excited for slushies. Friendly staff. Casual atmosphere. Wish the slight rain didn't scare off more people. Wish more people in the respective social group showed interest in many things but South Bowl provided a good time despite the small numbers.

Yelp
Hey, Yelp family! Have ya'll been to South Bowl in Philly lately? If you've never been, It's definitely a spot you need to check out! I recently went there with a group of friends for a birthday party and let me tell you, it was a blast. First off, the bowling alley itself is top-notch. The lanes are as smooth as a baby's bottom and the decor has a vintage 70s vibe that makes you feel like you're in the coolest retro bowling alley in the world. But the real star of the show was the food and drinks. We ordered loaded nachos, wings, and a few pizzas for the table and it was a feast fit for a king (or in this case, a birthday boy). The nachos were piled high with toppings and the wings were crispy and saucy to perfection. The drinks were also a hit, with a great selection of beers on tap and tasty signature cocktails. And let me tell you, the staff were amazing. One of my friends took a little spill and the staff came to help right away. They were attentive and made sure my friend was okay and even offered to bring ice Has anyone else been to South Bowl before? What was your experience like?

Yelp
They let there bartenders drink during shift. If you watch them you will see them!! Therefore, service was disappointing. Two stars because waitress was nice and apologetic.

Yelp
This was my first time back at South Bowl since they first opened and I was excited to check it out again. A couple pros, mostly cons unfortunately. The woman at the front desk for bowling was very kind, helpful and accommodating of my large group and my many questions. My group hung out at the bar while waiting for a lane (which ended up only taking about a half hour which was great for a Friday night). The service at the bar was pretty subpar. It took a long time to get our drinks and some bartenders were definitely nicer than others. The bartender with the purple glasses was very friendly even when there were issues with our food order at the end of the night (we ordered tater tots, watched them get delivered to another lane, and then when we asked about them, were told that the kitchen was closed. He apologized and gave us a refund). One of the reasons we chose South Bowl was that we were told they had vegan options. They definitely have vegetarian options which is great and you can sub fake chicken for some items but when looking for items with the "V" for vegan, it's laughably just plain tater tots. The bartender said everything is "fried in butter." Please don't even bother putting the "V" if you don't even have the option to make most of the vegetarian items vegan. I ordered the chicken souvlaki, subbed fake chicken and without the feta cheese in the pita and on the tots. Tots came out with feta on them. They were good once I annoyingly picked all the feta off. Vegan wings came out cold to the point that I don't think they were actually cooked. Once we were at the lane, we all had a fun time bowling. I love the large wooden benches and the lanes look nice. The balls are organized nicely and color coded by weight but are weirdly greasy though and stained one of my friend's shirt. It was easy to add more games and the woman at the desk even transferred my friends lane over to be directly next to mine. That was very kind! Unfortunately the music was so loud that we had to yell over it even when standing next to each other. Music doesn't need to be that loud in a huge cavernous space with all hard surfaces. Also, not once did a server come over to the lane to take more drink orders so we just went up to the bar which again, took a lifetime. I would probably go back just to bowl if someone invited me because again, the lanes are nice but I definitely wouldn't bother ordering food or drinks.

Yelp
Vibes are good, menu is meh. The ambiance is great. For a date night or friends night out, this place is great. We hit up the bar first for drinks which were good. Unfortunately the outside activities ended around 9pm so we missed out (online it said 11pm). We then went inside for bowling and food. Rental socks were available which was great since I didn't bring any with me (oops). Be prepared to spend money here! Now unfortunately, the food was bland. We ordered the tacos and mac n cheese and neither had much flavor. The tacos were only good with the sauces added and the mac n cheese was partly dry. We ate during our game of bowling, but I really wish the food was better. The experience was nice (could've been better with a later outdoor closing), drinks were good, food was subpar.

Yelp
Came to bowl, there was an hour wait for bowling..no big deal. But we waited for 20 minutes in the dining area and not one person walked up to us to take an order, or let us know it would take a few minutes, literally nothing. Just a couple of servers walking around with zero sense of urgency and managers (people wearing walkies are managers I assume?) doing the same thing.

Yelp
The place's is dope. They had a bunch of choices. Pool. Batting cages. Arcade games. Bowling. Our pizza was okay nothing crazy. But it was also half off Wednesdays, so that was a plus. They did make us leave cuz my kids are under 21 at 9pm. But we knew that in advance. Our waitress sucked tho. I had to go get my own food at the pizza oven area. And plates. And go get my drinks from the bar. Dude was right there to clean up tho. So the bus boys are lit ! But seriously I didn't like that

Yelp
Worst service ever Audrey the bartender was the worst . customer service was bad . racist . The manager tall white slim was very rude as well . Don't recommend this place to any one until they get their service better. management was shaking due to an incident need improvement . Besides the service food was great . would prefer ordering out then in-service . Will be referring this to the board .

Yelp
Went to south bowl this past Sunday afternoon cause my 13 year old daughter that I only get to see once a month wanted to go bowling. So me, my wife, our 2 month old baby and my older daughter take the 20 minute walk together from our house in south Philly to have a fun time bowling and to enjoy some snacks. We arrived, paid for 2 games and 3 sets of bowling shoes and were directed to our lane at the end. We get situated with the baby and my wife uses the restroom. My daughter types in all our names and I take my first frame. Seconds later a "gentleman" approaches us, does not identify himself as an employee in any way, and says " I have a big party coming in here soon so you have to go, I'm refunding your money" I stated " well the guy at the front assigned us to this lane and I already paid so i'm confused can you talk to him and figure something out" he replied "nothing to figure out I'm the manager and I'm refunding your money and that's that" and stormed off. My wife returns, I explained what happened, she said "that's lame! Not even worth arguing about apparently we're not welcome here" I approached the front counter where Avery was being demeaning to the (actual) gentleman that initially served us and looked up at me, noticing the baby stroller I was pushing. At that time I asked him for his card. He stated, in a completely different tone than he initially addressed me, that he didn't have one and began to say that he could comp us for a meal if we'd like. I said "no that's fine we'll go somewhere else at this point, I just wanted your business card, but you seem not to have one so what is you name" he replied " ah, my name? Ah Avery" Well great job Avery, kicking out a young family with an infant that just wanted to support a business in our neighborhood and have a good time. We'll make sure to not bother considering coming to south bowl in the future and we'll make sure our friends and the good people reading this review don't waste their time either.

Yelp
We've been here a few times to bowl and its always been a good experience. Each time we came it was always during the winter I believe so we never got to experience the outside section. This time we went for the batting cages, it was pretty cheap and you get a lot of baseballs to hit for a low price. That was our first time doing that so we got to check it off of our date list. We also got to play corn hole, which was her first time. They also had an outside bar that served food, arcade games, and other outdoor games were offered as well along with good music. Overall, we had a great time there, and will definitely be back.

Yelp
So much to do here and so much fun! Being the tomboy that I am, this place is my element! Food, drinks, and games, the perfect combination and day. I went on a weekday and enjoyed the outdoor area earlier in the day ~3pm. There wasn't a lot of people there at first so we had the bar area to ourselves and options for the batting cages. We had outdoor seating with umbrellas available to us as well. The food and snacks were pretty good, no complaints but average bar scene type food. I've hadn't had the chance to bowl at this location but I'm sure it's also as thoroughly entertaining. It was a great time!

Yelp
I never was a fan of bowling until I decided to bowl at South Bowl. South Bowl is a one stop shop for fun! Its a great place to meet with friends, have a girls nite out or chill with your honey on a date. I came to South Bowl with friends during the holiday season. South bowl has a spacious bar. It was three dollar Thursday so some drinks and appetizers were 3.00. I ordered the spiced pear punch and it was spicy with a nice kick. We also decided to play a game of bowling which was 11.00 for about three hours. Overall the music was nice, the drinks were affordable and the atmosphere was great. I would definitely return to South bowl.

Yelp
this place was so much fun! went with my roomates and it is such a cool, mid century modern environment w much more than just bowling. bowling and food was very* reasonably priced, and for a bowling alley the food service aspect of it was really cool. the chicken quesadilla was bonkerrrrrz, and it was all around a great time for not that much :):)

Yelp
It's nice but the food service @ the bar sucks ! & they where very underrated! Need more important on ppl skills

Yelp
Stressful week, my friend and I came in sneakers and casual clothes and just wanted somewhere to relax, have great food and drinks. Guys this place met all criteria. We hung out mostly in the outdoor patio area, had the BEST bartender ever, ask for Kelly at the bars! The food was delicious, though the pizza was my absolute fave, I may ask if they'll deliver that pizza to my workplace because I know my co workers would love it! We went to south bowl and didn't bowl, didn't really need to because we were occupied enough with the outdoor activities. Bocce was free and pool was $1.25 per game. The bowling lanes looked full and it was a bit crowded but there were great spots to sit everywhere inside as well. We ended up being to hang out with our new fave bartender upstairs after she was done her shift lol. I really have missed the spontaneity that was life pre Covid. Get out and meet people again ya'll but safely of course

Yelp
second time here and i knew something was off from the first time but didn't question it further. just know the servers get high and the bartenders get drunk.

Yelp
Very fun place. Great drink selection and friendly staff. Big bar off to the side with lots of lanes as well as arcade games and pool.

Kalonjah B.

Yelp
The service was horrible , the waitress decided to roll our straws on the table instead of placing them in our hands! MY in-laws wanted to come here for my birthday that just passed and when I tell you it was not the experience for me! the Mac and cheese was horrible they had crushed up gold fishes on top of it! the steak birria or tacos was sooooo disgusting and not flavorful AT ALL!

Yelp
Volunteers of America hosted their annual Jingle Mingle event to kick off the Adopt A Family season!! The food was great, bowling fun (could use a little less oil on lanes), and the event was for a great cause!! If you are interested in adopting a family this holiday season to provide a family in need with some essentials as well as wants, visit voadv.org for more information! And of course, come to South Bowl! Staff provides excellent service, the food is delicious, they have a pretty decent happy hour, and who doesn't love a good time bowling?

Yelp
Been here twice now - first was an office party, and yesterday with a friend. Good bowling experience. However, wasn't expecting delicious food from a bowling place. Their beef sliders are amazing, and the lamb sliders are one of the best I've ever had, which is really saying a lot. Will be coming here again definitely for the food.

Yelp
I went to South Bowl this past Monday, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience. I was visiting Philly for the long weekend, and my boyfriend and I decided to go bowling on the rainy day. We arrived around 4:30 without a reservation - they happily accommodated both of us and it was happy hour pricing! $22 total for both of us to play two games + shoe rentals. We were very pleasantly surprised with the pricing. The atmosphere was very modern and clean - we had plenty of space at our bowling lane and had a blast. The food and beverage menus were extremely reasonably priced ($6 cocktails woohoo!). We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. My personal favorite was the Blueberry Lemonade cocktail. The main highlight though was the service - Megan was our waitress taking our food and drink orders, and she was just fabulous. She was so positive, friendly and attentive - we couldn't have asked for a better experience! She truly went above and beyond and we were blown away when she was checking in on us and personally making sure we were taken care of. Shout out to Megan for an A+ experience - you rock! I highly recommend South Bowl!

Yelp
Philadelphia Eagles bowling event. South bowl is a great place for bowling and holding events. The lanes are great they have lots of games for everyone to play if your not a bowler. They offer two bars one on the lane floor and a second on the second floor. The lanes are lit up and they play great music if your not having a good time your not living. The food was ok we had pizza that were ok. Cheeseburger sliders were good pulled pork was also good. The salad sliders something I first experienced was actually good. We were here for and Eagles event so we had vip treatment. Looks like a good place for a bowling night out

Yelp
Prett decent bowling alley, good atmosphere and service. If you're looking for a good night to spend with friends, I recommend checking this place out!

Yelp
My husband and one friend came here on Saturday after not knowing what the weather would be like (it was supposed to rain on and off). We decided to try a place that had both outdoor and indoor activities to play it safe. I looked it up online and their site says that they open at noon. We arrive around noon and it's still sunny out so we ask the front desk if the outdoor is open and she says yes and points us in the right direction. We go outside and see that there is a "closed" sign...oh well maybe they're running a bit late. It was only 12:30. So we decided to go back inside to bowl for a round so they can set up. When we asked a different staff member what time the outside opened, they said 1pm. THE BOWLING IS CASH ONLY! Just an FYI, but they have an ATM on-site. We got everything we needed to and headed to the lane. I LOVE that they separate their balls by weight/color and that every ball is a different color based on weight. It made it a lot easier to find a ball. The balls are also labeled "small" "medium" and "large" to indicate hole size. They have some really great specials on food and the food and drinks are actually really reasonable to a bowling alley. Our server came over and we ordered a round and got to bowling! Now, this is where it starts to go downhill. I don't know if it's because they had just opened or what but the lanes were EXTREMELY GREASY! I mean you could see the grease. Now, because the lanes are so greasy, so are the balls. I had a very difficult time bowling because I couldn't get a grip on the inside of the holes because my hands were so greasy and the grease got in the holes as you bowled. I thought I was the only person who was having this problem but the other people in my party complained of the same thing. It was not only difficult to hold our balls but walking/running up to bowl was very dangerous as well. However, we kept on. The server who had originally brought us our drinks had not returned for a while and we wanted another round. After flagging her down, we were able to order. However, we watched as our drinks sat on the bar for 10 minutes. Eventually, after seeing the server walk back and forth to other tables, we went up to the bar to retrieve them. After we were done with our games (we played 2), we agreed that we had given them ample time to open up the Yard at the *new* time of 1pm. We head out there only to find that the "closed" sign was down but the bar was still not open and there were no staff out there. Eventually a guy comes out and lets us know, at 1:30, that the bar doesn't open until 3pm. WHAT!? First it was noon, then it was 1, now it's 3!? Whatever. He tells us that we can go to the inside bar and order drinks, we just can't have glass outside. So that's what we did. When outside, we played on the pool table and I set up cornhole/baggo and we played for a little while. All in all it was fun, but that's just because of our attitudes towards the hilarity of it all. We essentially had the whole outside to ourselves. The outside bartender, Carson, was setting up and allowed us to even play our own Spotify playlist. We left after about 30 minutes outside because it was so hot out. All in all, it was a bad experience from a business standpoint. From the cash only to the discrepancy in opening times, greasy lanes, and the service, it just wasn't good. However, I can't say that we won't be back. Maybe once they start to get some of their stuff together it will be a more pleasant experience.

Yelp
Unusual to see cash only at a big place like this. Food smelled good. Not the usual garish nightclub-disguised-as-a-bowling alley-decor--more like a refurbished barn and I mean that in a good way. Best damn bike rack in the city. My kid says bowling is boring but he's a little video addict so what does he know.
google avatar

Rodriguez R.

Yelp
Came here to bowl, play shuffleboard, bocce, pool... PROS: Atmosphere Food CONS: Rude employees (manager, bouncer, shoe people) Pins don't set correctly (bowling at 7 pins) Drinks $$$ and mostly ice I won't come back, the people running this place don't care about customer service, they made one our little kids move to different seating and yelled at them when using the ATM to play the broken hockey game

Yelp
South bowl is one of the few places I know in Philly that I can go to for bowling, and although i've been here only a handful of times, I can say that it's a great hangout spot for a group of friends because it has a great selection of foods from their menu + an array of things to do like pool, a photo booth, and a few arcade games. According to the food, everything we ordered went pretty well. Something that stood out the most was the OG Mac & Cheese we had; it was delicious! I didn't know if it was just me, but it was the best mac i've had in a while. So good that I was tempted to order a plate to go! (P.S. don't order the jalapeño pretzel bites, we didn't really enjoy the inside and it probably not worth the price) Lastly, my experience here went well and South Bowl is a great spot for hanging out with friends as well as filling up your belly with the delicious appetizers you can share amongst your friends.

L. E. M.

Yelp
Staff was not wearing masks. Food was not hot or even warm until the second round of tater totts. Unripe strawberries. Salads were over dressed. Would not select the venue

Yelp
South Bowl is a great place to have a low key night with friends and kick some butt in bowling. We came with a large party on a Saturday. Almost roughly 25-30 of us. Disclaimer ** you can't reserve lanes in advance ** so we got there around 6:30PM and were told we wouldn't be able to get a lane until around 9PM. We found some seats at the bar and made due of our time. Eventually 9PM came and went and we were told we could have the upstairs lounge upstairs for the remainder of the evening. Includes 4 private lanes + a full bar. The space is so nice. However, the bathrooms were disgusting when we first got up there. Once that was fixed it was all good. Our bartender was nice. We had no problems with our lanes and I'm still thinking about the buffalo Mac and Cheese I had.

Megan C.

Yelp
I hosted a surprise party for my husband here and it AMAZING! We rented out the top area that had arcade games, bar, terrace, and 4 private bowling lanes. The food was fantastic and I got rave reviews from all my guests. They said the cheesesteak egg rolls changed their life. The drinks were fantastic. Overall Mariah was so easy to work with and communicated regularly and made this birthday party planning so easy! I would highly recommend booking an event here!!

Yelp
Super fun place for the whole family. The atmosphere was retro and fun. The food was pretty good. I had a buffalo Mac n cheese. It was super tasty. And some cheese curds that where only ok. They should melt in your mouth. These where more like cut up cheese sticks. Our waiter was Edwin could have been more interested in his job. He barely came over. He couldn't remember what I ordered ( came back 3 times to ask) write it down buddy. Was a good experience for bowling. Will def go back.

Yelp
Definitely deleted my first post. The bouncer here Is over the top and insisted on taking my picture. When I asked why the facility would need pics of patrons. Bouncer couldn't or wouldn't tell me why a bowling alley would insist on recording my photo. Super weird! We had been going here a lot and had not had photos taken before, so I got a little snarky and used my special finger in the photo and he kicked me out. Had ID, had vaccine card, just honestly did not understand the pic policy. Would recommend going earlier in the day when they don't have a bouncer enforcing an inexplicable pic policy‍Everything else here had always been easy, food is good junk food and safe-feeling (covid wise). Get a reservation it's much cheaper.

Yelp
Between the food and bowling I am so stuck on how many stars to give this place! I was here twice and both times my original thought was "jeez this is expensive!" The atmosphere is awesome and it's very nice and clean inside but it can be costly between the bowling and the food. It was $80 for 4 people to bowl and we all split some food and that bill was $100. We did not get a lot of food but two appetizers and two sandwiches. I had the veggie wings and unfortunately each wing was extremely cold on the inside. If they were hot then they would have been out of this world. There is cheap beer but again, it all just ran up so quickly within a two hour time frame. If you are looking for a more upscale experience with your friends, this is definitely the place to go! One sweet deal is that you get a free shoe rental when you check in with Yelp!

Yelp
Great place to go with friends! Only thing of note that isn't advertised on their website is they close their outdoors area (including the batting cage) if temp is below 60F. It was 58F at night and we were excited to go into the batting cage but they closed it because "the machines don't work well below 60F" Chicago dog was 10/10.

Yelp
I went to South Bowl with some friends on a Saturday night. I've been to North Bowl and I assumed the concept was very similar: bar, food, music, etc. It definitely is. We had a reservation for 9pm for two lanes. Reservations don't really mean much. The best thing to do once you get in is make sure you sign in and reserve enough lanes for the members of your party. Also, there is a two game max. Two games, plus shoe rental will run roughly $16. There are plenty of balls to choose from in regards to weight and size. The upstairs portion is usually reserved for private parties. Aside from the bowling experience, the food wasn't bad either. I ordered the beef sliders because we were drinking and I don't like to drink on an empty stomach. The sliders came with tots and they were all delicious. One of our friends decided to order two pizzas for our section (a pepperoni pizza and a margherita pizza). The pepperoni was the better of the two. The drink prices are reasonable for South Philly. Mixed drinks will run your $6 or $7 and beer was between $3 and $6. I'd recommend South Bowl if you want to hang out with friends or for a date night. The atmosphere is pretty chill, there's a section where you can just sit and eat, there are a few pool tables and they play a wide selection of music, mainly club/party hits. They have a parking lot, but it is very small. It can maybe hold 10 cars. Your best bet is to park on the street if you're driving.

Yelp
Great time! On Sundays, they offer B1G1 free from 8 to 11 PM, so I came out with my girlfriend to BOWL! Not even Kingpin could keep up with us... The lanes are located very close together and soft comfy lounge chairs circumvent the actual bowling hub. If you go in large groups make sure you reserve two lanes next each other because otherwise will be sharing a large couch with other strangers. The bartenders a very friendly and Wala you to bring drinks to the seated bowling area. If you get tired with bowling, there's also a cozy arcade area with plenty of old pinball machines and classic games like donkey Kong. They're also two billiard tables and a few race car driving games. Even though they're only 16 lanes in the entire bowling area, you certainly don't feel cramped with what is offered. Make it out if you even have a few hours to kill, you'll have a blast!

Yelp
I went to South Bowl with friends on a Friday night. That was my first and last time in South Bowl. The entire experience at this bowling alley was extremely strange. In contrast, it is great that I will never experience that ever again. The strangest part of the night was in regards to our first 20 minutes in the bowling alley. The cost for 6 people to bowl 2 games and get the shoes is roughly $99. Every cost related to bowling and shoes must be paid in cash. In contrast, the bar/kitchen accepts both cash and card. We were required to use a card and open a tab despite wanting to pay cash for the bill. We were assured that the card will only be held; not be charged and everyone would still be able to get separate checks at the end of the night. This is extremely out of the ordinary - to be forced to open a tab for food despite wanting to pay with cash. I found this to be an odd policy for a bowling alley. Moreover, for a bowling alley that requires cash to bowl. Ultimately, my friend used their cards to open the tab. I was adamantly against it -- I found it to be a discriminatory policy and in opposition with the city's cashless ban. Plus, I've been to North Bowl plenty of times with larger groups and this has never happened. Plus, I'm not a fan of their food or eating and bowling simultaneously. Of the food that my friends did order - they enjoyed Buffalo Tots and Jalapeño Pretzel Bombs. And the worst part of the entire situation - when we finished our 2 games, changed our shoes and waited 10 minutes for our waitress. Unfortunately, after waiting we were unable to locate the waitress. We asked the front desk employee to page our waitress because we were ready to leave. Why have such a useless policy? Only to force customers to chase down waitstaff to close their bills and a credit card that was not used to pay for the meal. A couple in the lane next to ours -- left while the six of us were getting settled in our lane. Unbeknownst, to us that couple left their normal shoes in their rush to leave their lane and play pool. So, for our first 8 rounds, staff members were periodically shuffling through our seating area looking for their shoes. Staff members appeared to be very attentive and accommodating to this couple's needs. Unfortunately, that came at the price of surrounding my friends and I. And asking us useless questions regarding strangers shoes. Ultimately, the couple briefly returned to the lane. Miraculously, finding their shoes under the table in less than a minute. The bowling alley is very clean and everyone around us seemed to be having fun. I love to bowl and I'm glad I have the opportunity to visit other bowling alleys in the area.

Yelp
The machine malfunctioned talked to the manager, She accused me of lying . Are You Serious !! Over a bowling game. Would never bowl there Again !! What she should have done was credited the game but instead she let the customers walk out the door unsatisfied Shane it's a nice venue they need to get people who know how to run a business and bring customers in not let them walk out

Yelp
I really like South Bowl. They have a pretty good selection of drafts and the menu is solid. In addition to the bowling alley there is an abundance of video games and pinball machines inside and the Yard off the parking lot. Also in the yard are bocce courts, batting cages, corn hole and a small bar I have always had a great time here and would recommend it as a fun date night or night out with friends. There is something for everyone here.

Yelp
This update is long overdue. Unfortunately, this place has really taken a nose dive. They close when they feel like it, no longer offer late night specials, so it's $6 for each game and almost $6 for shoes, but you can't play more than 2 games, so now you're technically paying $9 per game! Very strict with ID at the door. You can't play, even if you're over 40 like I am and not drinking, if you forget your ID. I'm stuck because I enjoy playing, but usually have to go somewhere else now. I hope they change back to the 5 stars I know they can be.

Yelp
Celebrated my bday with friends on Saturday 11/16/19. It took a while to get 2 lanes, but the front desk accommodated my 2 reservations and put us all together in the upstairs lanes to the left. Food was affordable and good (great to see many veg options!) My only BIG problem (which was a unanimous opinion from my group of 16 friends who attended), was the female bartender upstairs. She was insanely rude to all of us... - criticized my friend for ordering a drink a certain way multiple times and told her she "better order it this way next time" - called my other friend a "bitch" for not keeping her tab open from before (meanwhile, my friend didn't know if our lane was going to be upstairs or downstairs, hence, closing her tab) - told me she would be right with me and then purposely walk away and not come back. There was no one else at the bar... I had to order with someone else eventually - and overall just very mean and sarcastic We were, in no way, disrespectful at any point of the evening, and still tipped accordingly, as we thought that maybe it was just a one time instance, but that definitely was not the case. I just hope that management speaks to her about her customer attitude. She was wearing a birthday crown that night, so maybe she was bitter about working on her birthday...? But honestly, that's not the customers' problem.

Yelp
This place is absolutely not for black and Muslim families! Avery and Curt are racist rude and nasty manager. I watched a waitress literally put topping on a pizza with no gloves. Lanes are small and crowded people will walk directly in front of your game. Horrible experience. Do not bring your family here and those that do watch your change they are cash only and will give you back incorrect change if you aren't paying attention! I am disgusted by my experience and will absolutely tell everyone I know not to patronize!

Yelp
When last night around 10:30, got there was told it was a 30 min to 1 hour wait for lanes cool. Gave my id and got a buzzer. While waiting we noticed people walking in and just grabbing lanes like it wasn't a wait list... said something to the girl and she said oh y'all are the last ones, y'all are next! some on is cleaning off the area Again cool 12:15 hit and we are still Waiting and all for someone to announce "we will be closing in 45mins...it's only two of us and we are still waiting! Again go to the front to ask what's going on all to be told we wouldn't be able to play. Now it's a guy at the front so rude! He said oh it's late, our lanes broke(people are still playing) he then says "I had to call people of the waiting list to cancel" which was a lie because they don't take your number to call! Yea south Bowl can suck it! I tried calling to speak to the manager but because it was an event private event they were too busy!! Never again!!

Yelp
Great lanes, fun bowling, and fun clientele. Unfortunately something about the taps was broken (on a Saturday night, for the rest of the night...) and they only had cans of beer left. Also, the wait for the lane was over an hour (they quoted us 2 hours which was also very wrong). When I went to close out my card, bartenders were a bit inattentive and talking and joking to each other while people waited for drinks, so that also took a while. Overall, would come back, but the evening I came, it wasn't too impressive.

Yelp
First timer at South Bowl but it certainly won't be my last! I had heard a lot about both North Bowl and South Bowl so last night was finally the night to check it out. I've never been to North Bowl so I don't have too much to compare it to but from what I've heard, South Bowl is much larger. It also seems South Bowl's wait time for a bowling lane is significantly less. I'm talking like 2 hour time difference here. When I arrived, I was somewhat surprised to see just how big South Bowl really is. Two stories, multiple rooms including an arcade, pool tables, bowling lanes, full bar, and private floor with bowling lanes upstairs. I was really impressed. I came on a Friday night and there was about an hour wait for a lane which was no problem because we spent some time at the bar. There was plenty of seating and space. Definitely a good pick if you're with a larger group. Pricing was average - $6 per game and roughly $6 for shoe rental. PRO TIP: there is free shoe rental with a Yelp check in! Food was delicious. We ordered a wood oven pizza and obviously could not pass up on an order of tots. The pizza was the perfect size for us four girls. But if there's one food item you must try, it's the tots. They're to die for. We were debating between the wavey and baker tots. The server told us the baker tots tend to be a little messy to eat so we opted for the wavey instead. The wavey consisted of tots topped with old bay and served with a side of cheese. Frankly, I didn't really taste much of the old bay. It seemed like only the ones on top had the old bay on them.... but, they were delicious nonetheless. If I ordered these again I would probably ask for extra old bay seasoning on them. Service was phenomenal. Our server was super friendly, prompt, and helpful. All of our food and drinks were brought out in a timely fashion. Two thumbs up!

Yelp
Many things left a bad taste in my mouth. The worst was the female bartender tried to charge me $8 for a $6.50 Tito's and soda. When I questioned the sudden price change she claimed "it's the tax". I'm not sure if she thought I was an idiot, but there's no 23% tax on a drink. I know she was trying to get double tipped. It was a disgusting act and I regret not finding the manager. Aside from the bartender being a scam artist and insulting my intelligence. The service took too long for a seemingly empty bar.
