"South City Kitchen has rightly earned classic status for its Southern staples (fried chicken livers, pulled pork, BBQ shrimp, etc). Yet above it all, the crisp, juicy fried chicken is our favorite order here (it appears on our fried chicken guide for a reason). The Smyrna branch from the small chain is no exception. The mood is low-key and the crowd is a general mix, so whether you’re coming from a boardroom or a ball game, it all meshes here. "South City Kitchen is an Atlanta classic for a reason—mainly because the fried chicken, grilled pork chops, and fried green tomatoes are always hitting. The chicken’s light, crunchy breading doesn’t overdo it, and when you pair it with the complimentary basket of fluffy cornbread and moist biscuits, you’re basically halfway to a nap. This fried chicken is a fine rendition (possibly the best in Atlanta), dressed up with garlic collard greens, smashed red bliss potatoes, and honey-thyme jus. It is a must-order.
