Yelp
Love everything about the liquor store so needed to check out the deli for their $13 lunch combo. The deli staff is all just as amazing as the liquor store. Everyone seems to love what the do and are super friendly. They've got a nicely curated selection of higher-end meats, cheeses, and other bougie hosting essentials. Jen, who runs the cheese program, is a gem and you should flag her down if you love to talk cheese. I appreciate the vegetarian option but with there were more than 1-2 included in the lunch combo. I've had some of the charcuterie boards from South Lyndale before but haven't had their sandwiches.
Food:
- "Brie &. Butter" sandwich. It's got brie, fancy butter, golden beets, radish, and some microgreens on house focaccia. It was a very nice, light option and the focaccia was good. Light, not crusty, with a crispy crust. I think it was missing something to lighten it up with all the rich butter, brie, and focaccia added to the earthy beets & radish. Maybe some preserved lemon or a tangy vinaigrette?
- Antipasti salad. There weren't any vegetarian options for the other half of the combo, between the wedge or antipasti salad or the chicken tortilla soup. I gave most of it it to my partner after picking out the artichokes. Those were excellently dressed but I'm a sucker for artichokes or olives in any form.
I love the people, specials, and events South Lyndale puts on and my only wish was that they had more robust (or customizable) menu for vegetarian options. Not unlike the "surprise vegetarian" sandwich at France44. I'll definitely keep coming back here for liquor, events, and snacks, though!
