Adam Eaton’s Deli Has Found an Uptown Address | Eater Twin Cities

"Planned by Tim Niver, Adam Eaton and Laurel Elm for Uptown, the unnamed deli at the former Spill the Wine/Tinto corner of Bryant Avenue South and Lake Street is slated to bring bagels to the neighborhood with a menu that will include bagels, smoked meats, a variety of sandwiches and a full bar; Eaton has already featured his bagels on the brunch menu at Saint Dinette and has long talked about cooking food from his Jewish heritage. This is the second hoped-for location after an earlier spot fell through, and if things go according to plan I expect it to be serving sometime in April." - Joy Summers

Google
We went here in later summer to browse for alcohol to buy but were immediately drawn in by the atmosphere and large selection! We bought some items then decided to stay for drinks! We tried a variety of wine and found our favorites! We also HAD to get the charcuterie. We loved one of the dips so much we went back to buy it in bulk! This is a beautiful place to buy bulk, try new wines, and get a fun treat!

I stopped here for the first time over the weekend and was really happy with the food and service. The person who took my order and helped me learn the ropes of the wine bar was super helpful and courteous while explaining everything to me. I ordered the Italian Beef sandwich and loved it. There was a savory spice in there that I've not had in Italian Beef before, and I'll be back to try it again sometime. I enjoyed trying the wine selection and know what I'll get again next time. The environment was really laid back and pleasant. I felt comfortable reading a book quietly by myself while other patrons came and went. The place stayed busy, but I didn't feel pressured to rush out or anything (it was snowing outside, so I'm sure it gets a bit more packed on other days). Conveniently located near a bus stop for those who might want to try public transit for a trip to taste some delicious wine. Cheers.

We really love the hot sandwiches here! And the Tuna Confit Sandwich is unlike any Tuna sandwich we’ve ever had - super unique, with a lot going on, but it somehow all the flavors come together. And the alcohol is sold super inexpensively since they’re a liquor store. Cans of beer for $3, can get super small pours of wine to try a bunch, and all the wines they have in the store to buy if you end up liking one.

Went for lunch. Ordered chicken wraps which were extremely salty….more olives than chicken-should be called an olive wrap. Also had 1/2 smoked turkey sandwich with the pasta salad. Turkey sandwich was yummy. Noticed the pasta salad was made 8 days prior and was 1 day past the “sale by” date. Mentioned this to the server and response was “it should be fine”. Don't know if it was “fine” or not because I was afraid to eat it. I would never eat pasta that had been in my refrigerator for 8 days!! Was disappointed in the overall experience.

I recently went with some of my girlfriends for a night out, and it was wonderful. The atmosphere was really nice, we were able to sit outside with sun coverage. We shared a great cheese and charcuterie board along with the really yummy prosciutto bruschetta. They also have my favorite olives, Castelvetranos, which topped it all off just right. We had such a fun time making our own wine flights with the Wine Wall, this was the highlight! It is SO MUCH FUN! There's nothing else like it in the cities. Great wine selection and wonderful food right in Minneapolis, but yet you feel like you aren't, makes for a perfect night. I highly recommend.

Google
I love these sammies and the kind people who make and serve them. This is going to become a regular lunch stop for me. Plus a lovely selection of so many great imported deli and food items. Bravo South Lyndale! You make our beautiful neighborhood just a little better every day for all of us!

Yelp
I happened to be at South Lyndale Liquors and I'm not normally in this area. I was starving... I decided to check out the deli menu. I was intrigued by a few items and was torn between a chicken parm hoagie or the mushroom melt. I was feeling like trying something I had never had and happy I did. The mushroom melt is one of the best non meat dip sandwiches I have ever had! The mushrooms were a mixture of many different kinds and textures and on a focaccia type of bread. Then you dunk it in the truffle gravy! I almost passed out! It was such a satisfying bite and so many textures and flavors. I would recommend it! You could easily share it and split a salad as it is very rich in flavor but dang was it comforting. I encourage you to try it and thanks for having this on the menu!

Yelp
Love everything about the liquor store so needed to check out the deli for their $13 lunch combo. The deli staff is all just as amazing as the liquor store. Everyone seems to love what the do and are super friendly. They've got a nicely curated selection of higher-end meats, cheeses, and other bougie hosting essentials. Jen, who runs the cheese program, is a gem and you should flag her down if you love to talk cheese. I appreciate the vegetarian option but with there were more than 1-2 included in the lunch combo. I've had some of the charcuterie boards from South Lyndale before but haven't had their sandwiches. Food: - "Brie &. Butter" sandwich. It's got brie, fancy butter, golden beets, radish, and some microgreens on house focaccia. It was a very nice, light option and the focaccia was good. Light, not crusty, with a crispy crust. I think it was missing something to lighten it up with all the rich butter, brie, and focaccia added to the earthy beets & radish. Maybe some preserved lemon or a tangy vinaigrette? - Antipasti salad. There weren't any vegetarian options for the other half of the combo, between the wedge or antipasti salad or the chicken tortilla soup. I gave most of it it to my partner after picking out the artichokes. Those were excellently dressed but I'm a sucker for artichokes or olives in any form. I love the people, specials, and events South Lyndale puts on and my only wish was that they had more robust (or customizable) menu for vegetarian options. Not unlike the "surprise vegetarian" sandwich at France44. I'll definitely keep coming back here for liquor, events, and snacks, though!

Yelp
Amazing high end sandwiches. Maybe not your every day sandwich but more like your "I'm in Philly for the afternoon but Dinics is closed for some stupid reason" backup event sandwich.

Yelp
From the moment you step inside, South Lyndale Wine Bar & Deli delivers a symphony of comfort and craftsmanship. There's a rustic charm here that doesn't try too hard--it just is. Let's start with the visual centerpiece: a towering meatball entrée, blanketed in freshly shaved Parmigiano-Reggiano. That's not garnish, my friend--that's respect. It whispers of Sunday suppers and bold sauce reductions kissed by time and tomato. On the charcuterie side, each element sings in harmony. Pickled vegetables and artisan breads are clearly curated with intention. You don't throw things on a board like that without a sommelier's brain and a chef's soul. Their deli sandwiches? Thoughtfully layered. Textures pop. Flavors stay in their lane, but they don't play it safe--there's a risk and reward in every bite. The wine bar is an unexpected bonus, offering pairings that make your tongue dance the paso doble. Staff are family--the good kind. Warm. Attentive. Present. If they expand on their late-night hours and finesse the plating just slightly, this could be a regional icon.

Yelp
This place is awesome. Fantastic liquor store and Italian market in one place. I personally did not love my gnocchi that I ordered at the cafe. I'd go back and try something else though. It's just a very inviting spot.

Yelp
What a cool place! Love how the liquor store is laid out. Tremendous variety. Had a couple of sandwiches that were outstanding. Neat place to go just to look around.

Yelp
Would give more stars except it was an extremely frustrating process. I went to get two glasses of wine from the vending (?) area and after fumbling around for a bit I asked for help and was instructed to go to the deli to obtain a wine voucher and they would explain the rest of the process. I waited for a long time in line and when my turn came I was asked how much wine I wanted to which I responded two glasses of the Sauv Blanc. This did not fulfill the required information necessary to secure the voucher so I was dismissed to fumble further. My friend could see my frustration so took over the process and was able to navigate the system. The upside was that my friend had to pay for the round.

Yelp
We picked up a couple of this week's special sandwich: Beef Filly subs. They were delicious. We ordered them to go and had just enough time to look through the store and pick out some drinks, too. We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Such a cute place. Love all of the food I've tried and the wine is a bonus! Also, the service has been top notch. I definitely recommend giving this place a try!

Yelp
Had read about the great sandwiches and wanted to pick up some for dinner but it was not to be. They stop serving their hot sandwiches at 3PM! Who does that? Had to settle for the cold "hero" and Roast Turkey. While passable, why are there sesame seeds on a hero sandwich? The visit was my first to the new location and started with a clueless person behind the market counter who could not answer the simple question " Can I pay for a bottle of wine here?" Her answer was "You can get a wine card" which was repeated several times in response to my rephrasing the question. All I wanted to understand was if I could buy a bottle of wine and a couple of sandwhiches and pay for the entire purchase at that counter. As it turns out, you can't for some reason. Not worth the effort and far too many other choices to put up with that ridiculousness.
