South Sichuan

South Sichuan is serving up some massive portions of delicious food! The dan dan noodles are spicy spicy, not just a lingering heat but heat as you chew. Definitely not for the faint of heart. The sauce was so creamy, nutty and savory. They were addicting! Such a large portion as well. The salt and pepper wings were crispy, even with delivery. Massive wings. The slaw in the box added a nice freshness. I ordered this for Christmas dinner, and they were so kind and put a cookie in the box as well. That was so thoughtful! I will definitely be ordering from here in the future.

I Got the dry pepper chicken. It was so dry in flavor! I’ve had this entree from other Asian restaurants, and I would suggest you go there because it comes with the appropriate garnishes, peppers, and seasonings. This was just fried chicken nuggets basically! They claim to have all this flavor at this place so this dish was a huge let down with no flavor

Absolutely amazing, delicious & a great deal! Lots of left overs for us for a great price. Ordered through door dash & got the beef noodle soup (not spicy), wonton soup (not spicy), Dan Dan noodles with pork (spicy) & a mango & a raspberry lemonade! All the food was so yummy, we recommend all of it! Can’t wait to have more another time 😁

My first time trying South Sichuan. The restaurant is take out only. Had the pleasure of meeting Kevin, who was very friendly and knowledgeable. We ordered Dan Dan noodles, dumplings in chile oil and chicken lo mein. Kevin asked us about the spice level for the Dan Dan noodles and added extra chile oil in case we wanted it spicier. Everything was really good. The portions are very generous and I have to say, I really enjoyed everything! They take cash or card. Looking forward to a return visit to try their other items.

This place has been viral recently on social media so we gave it a try and was kinda disappointed. First, it is a take out only place, so I expected service to be super fast. I waited for probably 30+ minutes because they had so many uber eats/doordash orders. Definitely recommend giving them a call way beforehand so you can just come pick up when it is done. As for the food, the green bean is too soft/overcooked imo, but seasoning is okay. The wonton in chili oil is more sour than usual. I'm not sure if this is sichuan style or not, but I'm not a fan, and it is also quite spicy even after I ask for less spicy lol. Dan dan is normal, not a lot of peanut butter taste, and even though the menu doesn't say it is spicy, it is. Price is affordable.

Takeout from South Sichuan was at least a few days of food. Dan Dan Noodles and Cumin Style Beef were more than substantial and had depth and kick.

🔥🔥🔥 Amazing addition to the neighborhood! Out of the dandan, chili beef and tendon, and cumin chicken dishes I tried on this first test meal the cumin chicken was the clear star. Incredibly tender, perfectly seasoned, excellent mix of veggies and meat. 10/10! The Dan Dan and chili beef/tendon were quite good as well, but not among my favorite preparations. Note, this isn't really a critique per se. I ADORE Sichuan, and having tried many versions of these dishes the bar is set quite high — so take my snobbery with a grain of salt. Overall great value, and I was told the service was very friendly! I will definitely be grabbing takeout here again in the future.

If you are in Philly COME CHECK SOUTH SICHUAN OUT! 10/10 Every dish we got was jammed packed with flavors! If you love spice this is the spot! (Even if you don't like spice they have options for you!) The service was quick and super friendly! It's a to go spot so pick up your dishes and have a nice picnic at a park! On our next trip back to Philly we are definitely coming back!

Saw this place go viral on TikTok and had to try it, especially since my boyfriend is a big fan of DanDan noodles and Sichuan food. As soon as we arrived, the whole block smelled amazing with that signature Sichuan aroma! It's a takeout-only spot, so we went in and placed our order. We got the DanDan noodles (of course), spicy crispy cucumber, and cumin-style chicken. The food took about 15 minutes, which felt reasonable. The noodles were super spicy but really tasty, according to my boyfriend. I loved the cumin chicken, so flavorful! The cucumber had great flavor too, but it was a little warm and not as crispy as we hoped. Overall, a great spot for authentic Sichuan dishes with reasonable prices and portions. Street parking was easy too. Definitely worth checking out!

We ordered cumin style lamb ( the lamb was nice and tender), vegetable lomein, and shrimp fried rice ( was not soaked in soy sauce like many Philly spots tend to do). The location looks like a regular corner Chinese store. It was clean inside. We ordered prior to Arriving and was told 15 mins and our food was ready when we walked in. Next time, I will try the Dan Dan noodles with minced pork!

Love this Chinese place! Takeout only and their food is delicious. The portions are generous and the service is quick. I really enjoyed their mapo tofu, eggplant, and the spicy tofu we got! The noodles were ok- wish they had a little more flavor! Overall, my go to Chinese takeout spot!

Newer takeout only spot for Sichuan cuisine in south Philly. Heard good things so had to try. Very quick preparation and picking up is easy at the window inside. The entire place looks quite well kept which is always good to see. Ordered dry pepper rub chicken and dan dan noodles, two tasty dishes to compare. Dan dan noodle were overall okay, very strong sesame sauce though the spice was a bit bland. Large portion here. Dry pepper rub chicken was quite good, had a fair amount of peppers but could've been amped up a bit. Overall I'd say food is 4/5, service & speed is 5/5, and cost is 5/5. Good new spot, thanks.

Ordered for pickup tonight and glad we did! We love sichuan style food and we were craving it. Everything we ordered was delicious! Salt pepper chicken wings were well seasoned and crispy. Dan dan noodles sauce was perfect. Beef hot sauce was bold and spicy and lamb dry pot style was amazing. We loved the string beans also. We ve prob been to all the sichuan restaurants in the city and south sichuan is now our goto! We put in our order and was ready by the time we got there, fast ! Who could guess a small takeout restaurant in south Philly can take over the sichuan crown, try it for yourself

The food from this place is sooooo good! Just wish there was one for dining in but who's complaining.

We ordered takeout from this new spot on a Saturday night and were very impressed! The delivery was quick, and the food arrived fairly hot. We started with the dumplings in chili oil, the scallion pancakes, and the Dan Dan noodles. I think the noodles would be my go to from here: perfectly spicy and peanutty! We also tried the curry and dry pepper wings. We liked the dry pepper wings much better than the curry, but I do wish they would be a bit crisper. It could have to do with the takeout distance, so I wouldn't fault them for that. We finished off with the scallion style beef, which had fantastic flavor. The beef was a little too chewy for my liking, but my husband loved it. Overall, we'd absolutely order from here again!

Hidden gem!! Tiny corner take-away spot with some of the best Chinese food I've ever had in this city. Their fried rice completely blew us away. The three pot chicken was so good we couldn't stop eating it and their balance of heat and flavor is perfect. Everything is expertly done.

I was skeptical of the overwhelming positive reviews but we made a large order and I was convinced. Every dish had great flavor and seemed thoughtfully prepared.

Tons of sichuan places in Philly, but this was pretty good and very affordable!! Dry pepper wings are awesome, eggplant and Dan Dan are also great. I would skip the wontons, the sauce needs some sweetness. Fruit teas are also delicious, tried the mango and lychee tea! Will be ordering again

I got Dan Dan noodles smelled spoiled due to their old scallions, if you work in the kitchen you would understand that smell. So I couldn't eat that. I also got the beef & tripe, in chili oil. That was fine until the next day. I put in the fridge mind you that dish is a COLD dish. SPOILED AF. Idk maybe I just had a batch of food. Idk if ima go back

Wow, I got the Spicy Tofu Fish- absolutely fantastic! Spicy, yet extremely edible- the heat creeps up on you! My mouth started to tingle, but my desire to wolf down as much as possible surprised me. It was enough for two, with leftovers for the following day! I couldn't stop thinking about the place, so I got the Double Cooked Chicken a few days later. Also excellent! This one was more of a typical entrée size, I ate it all and again was very pleased with the spice level and flavor. Can't wait to try more, I'm about to call them up again right now
