Althea Grey Potter is Portland’s Food Personality of the Year - Eater Portland

"Althea Grey Potter has been cooking at Southeast Wine Collective for years, but it’s only recently that she’s started to step out of the kitchen into the limelight. Her food, bold and brash, earned the wine bar a spot on the Eater 38 this year." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

We stopped here after dinner at Cibo next door. It was a busy Saturday night, sat at bar too, which is our preference anyway. Staff where friendly, but also they seemed busy most of the night, took awhile to get orders in and food out. Totally recommend the deviled eggs, they’re made with cream cheese and are exactly what smooth, creamy deviled eggs should be. We especially liked the ones with the Parmesan crisp topper. Loved them so much we ordered a second round. Wine options where plentiful and varied. Totally worth trying. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for 🤷🏻‍♀️🍷🥚

Cozy neighborhood wine bar. Great place to try lots of wine and get educated from the staff. I find that the people who work here aren't snobs and are more than happy to talk to you about wine if you are a novice. They also have a nice wine club with different price options and lovely food options to go with your wine. Food wise I'd definitely recommend the deviled egg flight!

The servers are super nice, attentive and give a nice description of the food and wine. The interior is cozy and nicely designed. Food is honestly very good, great local wine selection. My only complaint would be how salty the 3-5 courses on our tasting menu were. Good value on their tasting menu.

Favorite wine bar in Portland! Amazing selection of every wine varietal imagineable! Tons of wine available in all sizes from taster to full bottle. Best hospitality service here in Portland, seriously I am always impressed by how friendly and efficient their staff are. Their food is also worth noting - lots of amazing, seasonal apps and salads. Highly recommend! Oh, and the membership is absolutely worth it!

I had a very disappointing experience at the Wine Collective. The idea about this place is amazing, the wine list is promising and interesting but the delivery and the prices are not matching. We asked the waitress to recommend us two glasses from the Oregon region. We were served two glasses of pinot in cheap tasting glasses and after a bit of smelling, one of the wines, that came highly recommended smelled very off. We asked for a new one, and I have to admit the waitress was very apologetic and gave us a new glass. Here is the thing! We ended up paying $39 for 2 glasses of wine. One from a local winemaker that makes the wine in house and another from a local producer. This was served in small wine glasses and the waitress served us a wine that had been opened at least a few days earlier. It was two of the most expensive glasses of wine I have ever purchased in a wine bar (and I have visited wine bars all over the world), and quality and price simply did not add up. I always feel bad about leaving a terrible review. But an establishment like this has to deliver when they set the bar high.

The annual Memorial Day weekend wine tasting at Southeast Wine Collective is not to be missed! I mean, unlimited sampling of some of the finest Oregon wines; how can you go wrong? Okay, fine, I was cut off (politely with a smile) after my fourth sample of a Cabernet Sauvignon, but only because she was down to her last bottle. And the ambiance is equally great - stacked barrels everywhere. Everyone becomes very friendly after about the first 10 minutes. Highly recommend.

Here's the deal and it has taken a long time for me to write this poor review. I usually never do but I think the owners need to know. Also, I keep telling all my friends about this bad experience, so it still is bothering me. I paid $16 for a glass of red wine that came in a taster/white wine glass which is unacceptable considering the price. Then after spending over a $100 on the bill for our party of 5, we discovered on the menu that you can buy ANY bottle they have with a $30 discount. This isn't a sale, this is what anyone can do at any time. You just have to take it with you. So the wine I was drinking was $16.00 a glass, $58 dollars for the bottle corked there and then if I just go in and buy that bottle it's $28? None of this makes sense.
