San Antonio’s Michelin-Starred and Bib Gourmand Restaurants, Mapped

"With a menu that depends on Southern standards like fried chicken, cracker-crusted redfish, and Lowcountry seafood boils, chef Jeff Balfour’s comfort food doesn’t break many rules. Still, the polished service at this Pearl anchor and Bib Gourmand propels it far above the average down-home spot — as does the selection of quietly innovative brews. The outdoor seats are prime perches for people-watching at the bustling development." - Brandon Watson

The 14 Essential San Antonio Restaurants

"Southerleigh Fine Food and Brewery is almost synonymous with the Pearl, the ever-expanding upscale food and shopping development just north of downtown. Under the direction of chef Jeff Balfour, Southerleigh brings Southern comfort food with a coastal flair by way of Galveston. The marinated, seasoned, and pressure-fried chicken is a constant and the fried snapper throats are a must-try. Takeout orders can be placed online; there are indoor and outdoor dine-in services." - Polly Anna Rocha, Ben Gonzalez

"Run by well-known chef Jeff Balfour, Southerleigh brings cross-cultural cuisine to the bustling Pearl Brewery complex. Here, the seasonal menu ranges from crispy fried half-chicken with coffee-crusted bacon and thyme red-eye gravy to Gulf red snapper with charred tomato sauce piquant and pickled fennel salad. Was looking for a place to go with a large party to get the San Antonio experience and came across this place. From other reviews it appeared to be good food and decent prices, so we gave it a shot. We were seated quickly, place was beautiful and the vibe was great. We tried the beer flight which I definitely recommend. The rest of the food was good, however service was lacking a bit as there were drinks sitting empty, one drink was wrong and didn’t get switched until the end of the meal and members of our party waited for parts of their order for a bit before they could eat.

We had a wonderful lunch at Southerleigh! The industrial-chic setting inside the historic Pearl Brewery is absolutely stunning — rustic charm meets elevated style, with brewing tanks overhead and vintage details throughout. We ordered the House Salad, which was fresh and crunchy with romaine, pickles, tomatoes, shaved cheese, and a creamy house dressing on the side — simple but flavorful. The Melon & Berries dish was bright and refreshing, loaded with watermelon, strawberries, pineapple, blueberries, and a touch of mint, paired with a whipped cream topping that brought it all together beautifully. I also had a Ritual Tequila NA cocktail (from their non-alcoholic menu), and it was absolutely delicious — fruity, zesty, and beautifully presented with a chili rim and dried citrus slice.

We had an excellent meal here. We enjoyed the fried chicken and hanger steak with Chimichurri sauce. The mashed potatoes, jalapeño grits, and broccolini were nice accompaniments. For appetizers, we ordered the corn bread, wood-fired pretzel, and warm carrot ginger soup. We liked the soup and dipping sauce for the pretzel the best. Our service was attentive. We highly recommend this restaurant. It's located in a quaint spot that offers a welcoming outdoor space.

We happened to stop in here for dinner and it was great. Atmosphere, beer, and food were all really good. The snapper appetizer was unique and very tasty. The pork chop was one of the best most flavorful I’ve had. And the antelope dish was a great try. Don’t sleep on the Mac and cheese it was really good and I usually skip that. Beer selection was nice and flights allowed me to try all 8 on tap. Servers were great and timely. There’s a whole second section more like a lounge we didn’t check out. Would go back.

Google
One of the best restaurants in San Antonio! Their fried chicken is so good, I would put them up against a lot of other places. The seasoning is perfection and the Crystal butter add a subtle kick that is just enough, even for those who don't enjoy the spicy side of life. The chicken n waffles is a must! I look forward to trying the fish sandwich and the chicken sandwich.

Google
Parking is available in the garage nearby, there were plenty of spaces available. We just walked in and were able to be seated immediately, though reservations are recommended, especially on the weekends. The food was pretty average overall. We got the corn bread and fried chicken. The cornbread was a bit dry but otherwise tasted fine. The chicken was cooked well and slightly crispy, but the sauce that came with it was not a good combo, the taste of the sauce is very distinct and just overpowered the whole dish - I ended up just eating the chicken without the sauce so it was a bit lacking in flavor overall. The vibe is cool and the service was good, the employees were very friendly. I would come back and try other items on the menu.

Defenetly a must place to go. Gorgeous place. All their food was delicious and cinnamon roll is amazing. Very comfortable place to have a nice and delicious meal. The food was very well seasoned and cooked to perfection. The bar tender made a delicious moktail. Wonderful place for a date or just to hang out with friends. Service was also top-notch. Waiters are friendly and if it's your first time there, they will go through all the options to ensure you have a great experience.

Google
We had the best experience at Southerleigh Brewing Company! From the beautiful, historic setting in the Pearl to the bold Southern-Coastal flavors, everything was on point—but what really made our visit unforgettable was our server, Julia. She was absolutely phenomenal! Attentive, warm, and super knowledgeable about the menu—she made us feel so welcomed and taken care of from start to finish. If you’re in San Antonio and haven’t been to Southerleigh, you’re missing out. Huge thanks again to Jukia for making our night so special. We’ll definitely be back!

Yelp
I came here to celebrate my anniversary with a meal at a Michelin bib gourmand. While we did have a dinner reservation it did take a little while to get seated due to some tables taking their time getting up. We came on a Sunday evening during a busy Memorial Day weekend for reference so you might not have that problem. Overall the food was wonderful. The cornbread was a great start to our meal and was very flavorful and moist. My main was the birria braised antelope. I really enjoyed the flavor and trying a new protein. My plate was practically spotless once I was done. We ended the meal with a a sweet treat and complimentary champagne for our anniversary! I'd definitely recommend coming here if you are in town. You could spend the entire afternoon/evening eating and drinking in the pearl district.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the atmosphere & decor of the restaurant. Seated right away on a weekday, no reservation. Service was friendly but a bit much - we were asked at least half a dozen times if everything was OK. A bit overwhelming. Food was fine - I had the deviled eggs, tomato & crab, biscuit, and 18 hour steak. Everything tasted good. The house hot sauce (at the table) was a bit watery.

Yelp
From start to finish this was a fantastic visit. Service was fantastic. They were so busy inside and out (we sat on the patio) and it was as if we were the only guests. I say this because our service was efficient, friendly, and spot on. The food was so good from the apps like the deviled eggs and pretzels to our entrees. It's clear why they are Michelin-recognized! They've quite a selection of pours as well. The architecture and interior design are phenomenal. I love The Pearl area and can't wait to visit again. Southerleigh is an absolute treat!

Yelp
I went here with my friends to celebrate our graduation for a military school. We enjoyed all of our respective meals. I loved the ribeye. It was cooked perfectly and so delicious. I also love broccolini!! 10/10 on this dish. The server was so kind and knowledgeable about all of the dishes. The place is busy and a little loud. It had a nice decor. I could see myself coming back

Yelp
Stopped by here for drinks while visiting the Pearl district. It's located within Hotel Emma but you can also enter through the outside entrance. Cool industrial vibe and this place was a Michelin recognized brewery and restaurant in 2024. We sat at the bar which was a cool spot. Ordered some good beer for my fends and I had The Mistress cocktail. Which was so fresh and well constructed, with Repasado, blood orange, grand marnier and lime . Also tried the pretzel. Comes out nice and warm With mustard, cheese and pickles . Goes well with the drinks! Service was great at the bar and our bartender was cool to talk about the place and the drinks. Really nice place to come eat or just get drinks. Upscale brewery with a great food menu. Hard to find usually the good balance of both. Loved our visit here!

Yelp
We ordered the deviled eggs as an appetizer. They are flavor packed with a surprise sweetness in the caramelized bacon. Delish!! Next we had the fried chicken and crab Mac & cheese. No photos of the chicken or Mac because we were elbow deep in before we remembered we didn't snap a photo first. Nothing left that plate. All gone. Best fried chicken in San Antonio. Super packed with flavor, juicy, and tender while still having a nice crunch. Pairs perfectly with the crab Mac. Excellent service. Very attentive and kind. We sat outside and it was the perfect blend of privacy and people watching.

Yelp
My favorite restaurant at the pearl for oysters and seafood. To be fair I never tried anything else on their menu! This place is always packed! And at times they run out of the absolutely delicious fish throats! It is super cool to see the barrels of the brewery in the back of the restaurant. The east coast oysters and fish throats are an absolute must at this restaurant

Yelp
Had an amazing experience and Southerleigh Fine Food in the beautiful Pearl District. This restaurant is recognized by the Michelin Bib Gourmand, awarding high quality dining experiences at moderate prices. There were so many intriguing options on the menu, we ended up trying a few different appetizers before our entrees. Every appetizer was delicious but the standout to me was the cornbread and homemade butter. For entrees I had the red fish and my friend went out of the box and ordered the antelope. Our server was very helpful in explaining the antelope dish, where the meat was sourced, and what to expect in terms of flavors. It was super tasty! The fish was great as well. For dessert we split the chocolate pie and holy moly it was amazing! Definitely super rich and decadent. Overall it was a wonderful experience and I'd definitely recommend!

Yelp
A wonderful experience at a top-notch high-end posh restaurant. It's a gem to have this place inside hotel Emma because it's in a great ambience from the high-end dining room low light setting and amazing food with top-notch customer service when you sit down the dining room is it's just great. Just put you into relaxation. The handcrafted cocktails 10/10 you can't beat a handcrafted cocktail freshly made that taste that good. It's two cocktails that I drank were just great flavors from the creamy cognac with a slight egg flavor to the Otto cocktail, it preps you for the main course. Normally, I would go with the appetizers first, but I'm gonna go with the main dishes first and then the appetizers last. The two main dishes, the steak frites, very high-quality beef and cooked to perfection. The overall flavors from the steak with the sauce, high-quality beef in my opinion the sauce that it came with was just too sugary and the french fries were great, but they were not hot. Ultimately when I bite into the frites, they were somewhat cold, which I find a little interesting. The fries should at least be tableside warm, but they were just too cold and then when you add the steak and then the sauce it was slightly cold on the edges, so I'm assuming the dish sat for a little bit of time. The crusted redfish was incredible, amazing, and impeccable. The cracker crust mixed with the flaky red fish meat on the inside beautiful crusted fish and the white fish meat was sweet, flakey, creamy, and when you add the, butter sauce, it's a money bite. And lastly, I ordered the half dozen oysters and the half dozen gulf shrimp. I probably won't order it again only because the oysters were just micro small I mean ultra tiny I've been to other restaurants, high-end not high-end and they were a lot bigger than the ones that I got the oysters were almost there. I just didn't see the value in the oysters and the price point considering how small they were. The gulf shrimp was great, but I've had bigger and better elsewhere also considering the price point. They could've been bigger and more plumper. The horseradish sauce, the cocktail, and remoulade sauce helps with the overall dish. For example, gulf shrimp I have purchased at Whole Foods were bigger, plumper, and had more snap factor to the shrimp. Overall great experience with amazing cocktails, and two great main dishes and the red fish cracker crust dish saved the entire experience from the sort of lackluster seafood appetizers. I left with a big smile on my face. This is a must try location.

Yelp
Nice building and good atmosphere in the pearl district. Got a flight of beers, nothing was remarkable. Pretzel with cheese and mustard was ok. Cheese was cold upon arrival, maybe that is their thing? Mustard had some twang, was way better. Service was nice.

Yelp
Southerleigh is in a great spot at the Pearl. There's a parking lot and garage nearby which was convenient. We made reservations and were seated right away. The space itself is beautiful. It's got this rustic-meets-modern vibe with warm lighting and a cozy yet stylish atmosphere. It's clean, inviting, and just has a good energy about it. The service was really friendly. We ordered the calamari, steak frites and pork chops. Both were good--not mind-blowing, but solid. I'd probably try something different next time. The only downside was how close the tables were. It felt a bit cramped, like I could easily overhear the next table's conversation and our chairs were practically touching. Overall, it was a nice experience, and I'd definitely come back!

Yelp
In town for a friends wedding and had a night to kill with a group of girls. Decided to come here for dinner. We ordered all the apps and sides and maybe 1 or 2 mains. First of all the portions were obviously generous so we were all full before we even got our mains. However, if you what I would consider a real "southern meal" you would be stupid not to order the following: crab mac & cheese, snapper throats, corn bread, jalapeño cheddar grits and the whipped potatos. We also had an incredible server. I don't remember his name but he was fantastic considering there were 12 of us.

Yelp
My first real meal in San Antonio and it was so good.. Good service, good hospitality, the food was really good.. I was with a group of people and we ordered a few appetizers and everybody ordered the Red fish and we all closed our plates.. Good times! This was my first time here and I'm so glad we came.

Yelp
The food we had was good. I am rating this low solely based on the service we received and the prices of the food. Unfortunately, as soon as we were seated outside our server caught an attitude. We were in a party talking amongst ourselves trying to determine if the deviled eggs meant 3 full eggs or 3 egg halves as the menu wasn't clear. It was evident he was annoyed with us and once we asked him he answered hastily and walked away. We ended up ordering the large dish of deviled eggs, the crab mac and cheese, the pretzel, whipped potatoes, and quite a few other items. The entire experience you could tell the server was either having a bad day or was frustrated with us. I've been a server/bartender myself for 5+ years and can honestly say I don't know what this guys deal was. On top of the bad service the food was pretty expensive. I understand it is a Michelin Bib restaurant but still think some of the items (not all) are overpriced.
google avatar

Krystalynn U.

Yelp
I'm a sucker for the Caesar salad! The ranch is delightful and a classic take on a southern favorite. I added grilled shrimp to mine, though the salad in its own would still be great. The atmosphere in Southerleigh is super cool too since they are built inside of an historic building & they brew their own beer! I can totally see why this was awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand as the service was great, the ambiance was unique, and the food is tasty classic southern food.

Yelp
PSA: We sat at the outside bar, had a beer and on the bartender's recommendation ordered happy hour dollar wings. What we did not expect was they were a full wing each (see picture). And to make it better this was probably the best chicken I have ever eaten (no lie). I do not know how long they are offering these as we were told it was an anniversary special but if I were you I would get down there ASAP! Be fore warned if you are stupid enough to order the Carolina reaper hot sauce like I did you will pay for your mistake!

Yelp
Came here for Sunday brunch. The atmosphere is impressive. The old brewery has been beautifully restored. The service was good, the food is mediocre pricing on the higher side for breakfast. The food was lacking in flavor and just pretty simple and basic nothing special. It's the atmosphere that makes the whole place. It's a cool place to come visit for that reason the food is just ok.

Yelp
Amazing! Great service, great food and well priced. This place was recommended to us by our hotel and it didn't disappoint. We had the a light lunch of deviled eggs, crab/tomato salad lobster bisque and a house salad. The vibe was nice without much noise, which you can have with high ceilings. It is also centrally located in the Pearl district.

Yelp
I made a reservation after a recommendation. I am really happy we visited the Pearl area of San Antonio, however, we didn't love Southerleighs. We sat outside which was really nice. Our server was not attentive and was rarely around. We found the menu limited and although we liked our entrees, we were underwhelmed. The beer we had was really good. I think the lack of interest from our server tainted our experience.
google avatar

Yelp
It's been a minute since I have been here but we decided to host a team lunch here and it was a great choice. Always love the interior and we had great service throughout the meal! We began with the snapper throats for the table which were great as always! Then I tried a couple of dishes that I had not tried before here - the Crab Bisque- I went with the bowl but really the cup would have been enough as it's rich but delicious. The toasted cauliflower with cashew cream was delicious. Hope they keep this on the menu! Great lunch - good - service and atmosphere!

Yelp
Picked a hot weekend to visit San Antonio from Fort Worth. Thankfully a local recommended visiting Pearl. We ran across Southerleigh and just knew this would be a good spot for a cold beer ! Sure enough we walked inside and could smell amazing hops from the beer brewing. Loved the interior. The smell of barley and hops was amazing. The staff at the bar was awesome! We ordered a couple locals beers and 1/2 dozen oysters. The beers were so cold and tasty that we followed up with a few more. Loved the oysters too! The horseradish could have had a little more kick. I had to pile it on high to get any kick out of it. Definitely on our list to visit again.

Yelp
Our waitress was amazing and super attentive, I wish I remembered her name- she was originally from Illinois if that helps ! We were sitting outside with our family of 7. We ordered appetizers , the deviled eggs 8.5/10 , the lobster mac and cheese 100/10, then this new shrimp and toast item that was -10/10 (we were not a fan of it at all). We got 2 chicken Cesar's 8/10, one house salad. We got 1 lb of the shrimp boil and I enjoyed it especially with the oil, 10/10 for me but my husband was not a fan of the sauce , to him it tasted like Louisiana hot sauce 6/10.

Yelp
Went for a birthday brunch to end our San Antonio trip for my brother's girlfriend. The restaurant is so pretty for brunch and we got sat at the table with really good lighting. After having some bad experiences this one was the best place we could have gone before leaving SA. Our waitress was so nice and answered any questions we had about the menu. She kept the coffee coming anytime my boyfriend's cup went past the half way mark she filled it up and brought more creamer. They also put a card on our table as we were celebrating a birthday and she brought out a complementary cinnamon roll for her Now the food: Chicken and waffles were good but the chicken can be white or dark meat and can be any part of the chicken (thigh, breast, leg) chefs choice. They also add butter that is orange and has a little spicy kick to it. The chicken is well cooked but it is bone in so it can be messy. If you have a sweet tooth drench it in syrup and if you don't you should go easy on the syrup. The SOS was pretty good but since the bread is under the eggs it gets soggy. If you ask for this plate ask for the toast on the side to avoid this mistake. The potato whip is a little flavorless so you would have to add salt and pepper to your taste. Other than that the meat is so soft and flavorful you can't go wrong with the portion of this plate. The chicken biscuit was the star of the show that I had the pleasure of having. This was perfect for me and I even shared some with my boyfriend. This plate was a good portion and it was so savory I recommend this for someone that is undecided.

Yelp
Okay, so my return here was a better experience than my visit 2+ years ago. I popped in for a quick bite as I was in the area--just got appetizers and drinks. I usually may never have space in my tummy for dessert but this time I did. This was the best cheesecake I've had in a really long time--I typically do not care cheesecake . The snapper throats name is deceiving as it's actually the snapper cheeks/side of its face but I guess haha. The fish was tender and deep-fried without being greasy. They let the natural taste of snapper shine through as there wasn't heavy seasoning or salt which is great. The calamari dipping sauce was a nice curry which is the usual sauce pairing you would think of but it works! The ambiance was lowlight moody and rustic vibes.

Yelp
What happened?! We came here a year ago and it was amazing- but just went back and it was very mediocre! We ordered the deviled eggs again but this time there was too much jam and the egg filling was all over the place. The schnitzel was overcooked and bland- it really needed a sauce or something- and the scallops were better but the risotto they came with was kind of bland. We were really disappointed- I hope this was a one off visit and there weren't changes made to the menu!

Yelp
Southerleigh never disappoints. I decided to go the the Pearl area after work on a Tuesday. I showed up and I was seated quickly.I decided on the house burger. The house burger has a 1/2 pound beef patty, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and their special sauce. The burger comes with fries. The burger was full of flavor and was big. It definitely hit the spot. The fries were tasty as well. I received excellent customer service while I was dining there. I even asked for the manager and let her know how much I enjoyed the whole experience. Southerleigh's is a great spot for lunch or dinner any time you find yourself at The Pearl. You won't regret it.

Yelp
Not surprised that this beautiful restaurant within the beautiful Hotel Emma was packed and bustling at dinner time, considering its Michelin nod. Our server was friendly, but the service itself was spotty, probably due to the slightly chaotic energy? He apologized a few times, which we appreciated. Speaking of chaotic energy, this is one of those restaurants that will have you yelling to communicate with your dining partner, because it's very loud, which I didn't appreciate. The pretzel appetizer and beer cheese was delicious ! The fried chicken was tender and juicy, but the accompanying biscuits were dry and uninspiring. The broccolini side was quite average. I'd rate the experience a 3 1/2 stars. I'm glad we tried it, but I don't see a repeat visit in my future ;)

Yelp
I'd have a hard time imagining anything less than delicious here. The throat - I'll admit was strange sounding, but surprisingly delicious. For the main course I had the red fish, which was packed with flavor and expertly prepared. Great place for a date! Beautiful location and impeccable service.

Yelp
Amazing! Had the chicken and waffles, dang son! So good! My friend had the eggs with potatoes, the eggs were so good! No need for ketchup or hot sauce. Definitely will be back! Our waitress, Mya, was so good! I'd come back just for the service, but again, the food was delicious!

Yelp
No complaints here! Valerie the bartender was very attentive and the food was excellent! Good beer selection and quite busy for a Wednesday.

Yelp
We rented out the silo room for a party of 18 and were very impressed. Our food was served family style and there was way more than we could eat. The fried chicken and the ribeye were both exceptional. Somehow we still made room for the delicious bread pudding. They also have a great cocktail menu. Our server was very helpful and managed our big group well.

Yelp
This is a cute little brewery/restaurant by the Pearl. Very spacious and they were able to accommodate us walking in on a Friday night. Our server was very attentive and food/drinks came relatively quick. They have a small beer menu but brewed in house. I got the Gold Export Lager which was a typical lager. I got the fish of the day which was a jack fish they flew in from the Gulf. I wish the portions were a little bigger. There was also a tendon or sinew that made it difficult to cut. It was tasty however, but not as good as their red fish. The red fish paired nicely with their pilaf. Didn't taste fishy at all. The pork chop was coated heavily with peppercorn. One or two bites tasted good but then it just tasted too salty. Overall 3.5/5 but rounding up to 4 for this review.

Yelp
My husband and I were in San Antonio for my birthday and the Southerleigh kept showing up on the best-of lists so we had to check it out! I was a little nervous about finding parking but it was very easy- the nearby garage had 2 hours free. We started with the duck rolls; they were extremely tasty but rather light on the duck. The filling was delicious but mostly cabbage, so a bit pricy. For entrees we had the cracker crusted gulf red fish and the grilled quail, and I couldn't recommend one over the other they were both amazing! I'm very glad my husband is down to share lol! The fish was crisp and moist and the sauce was very creamy and decadent; the quail was tender and the sauce on the cabbage was very rich. For dessert I got the strawberry rhubarb buckle (if you aren't familiar with this as I wasn't, it's like a coffee cake crossed with a crumble) which was very tasty- loved the macadamia nuts. My husband got the chefs curated oysters as he isn't a dessert person and he really enjoyed the bbq mignonette though I thought it was a little weird. Service was great; the waiter accidentally brought an incorrect entree but they had the correct dish out in maybe 10 minutes and bought us a round of drinks so we were happy!

Yelp
My wife and I have been here many times . We came for brunch after spending the day in Fredericksburg. I love the ambiance here a lot. It's very clean, food smells delicious, great background music. The service is always good when I come and the food is delicious. My wife had the chicken and waffles and I had a burger. She enjoyed her chicken ( what they are known for ). Very juicy and seasoned to perfection. The waffle seemed like an after thought though. No real flavor of its own to compare to the chicken. The burger was excellent and the fries are always salted and hot. We also shared a bottle of wine that set the whole meal up. We always enjoy it here and we are glad they added a full bar .

Yelp
We came here after a long day of walking around and seeing what San Antonio had to offer. The whole Pearl area is a great walking place, we walked way down the river for awhile before dinner. We figured we'd try and see if we could be seated without reservations, and thankfully it was no problem and we were seated right away. We got the Winter Salad, Kids Mac meal, corn bread, pretzel, and the steak frites. I also got a beer flight. I like how they labeled very beer so I'd know what I was drinking. Everything was delicious and the service and ambiance was top notch. Prices were pretty reasonable considering how beautiful the location is and the quality of the food and service.

Yelp
To celebrate the end of the semester and the start of winter break, my colleagues and I decided on Southerleigh at the Pearl. It was my first time discovering the parking lots there--who knew? Usually, I stick to street parking. The restaurant was fully booked indoors, so we were seated outside. The service was just okay--slow, unfortunately. It took about an hour for our food to arrive. We ordered a variety of dishes: a burger, charcuterie board, calamari, duck roll, fish, and a few drinks. Overall, the food was underwhelming and didn't leave much of an impression. My colleague's burger was so overcooked that part of the meat was hard as charcoal--he didn't even eat it. The charcuterie board seemed like it had been sitting out for a while, as one of the dips had developed a hardened layer on top. The calamari was fine, but the sauce it came with wasn't the best pairing in my opinion. The duck roll was overly oily, and the heavy sauce didn't help balance it. For the premium pricing, I had higher expectations. While the location is charming, the experience didn't live up to the hype, and I don't see myself craving a return visit anytime soon.

Yelp
Amazing food, great beers and fun atmosphere. Never a bad meal here! Pro tip: get a reservation to sit inside otherwise you'll be fighting the heat during the summer months. Highly recommend the weekend brunch. The cinnamon rolls are amazing if you get in early enough before they sell out.

Yelp
Had a great time here. We walked in and got seated pretty quickly. The food was generally good but nothing was outstanding. Food: Snapper throats - very good Duck rolls - good with the sauce but a bit on the oily side Oysters - good; had a little shell in there

Yelp
It was a beautiful sunny day at the Pearl so we decided to sit outside on the patio for lunch. My wife ordered the Mussels and I ordered the fish sandwich. The mussels were excellent, not fishy or rubbery tasting. What was not desirable was that the fries were underneath the mussels, completely soaked in the broth. The fish sandwich was large with lettuce and tomato served on a somewhat too thick of a roll. I would have preferred a less bready roll because the bread overpowered the fish. I removed the top of the roll to enjoy the fish and less bread. For dessert i had the carrot cake which was great. It was a very nice experience with good service and quality of food.

Yelp
Go to San Antonio for the experience, stay for a Southerleigh's reservation. There are no wrong option here. I got what I got once before: their "Famous Fried Chicken." It's killer. Definitely the best fried chicken I've ever had. It still holds true. The small biscuits served with it are also incredible! The appetizer chosen this trip was their "Famous Snapper Throats." Great, but with hesitation. It's a pretty (fried) dish, but VERY bony. Some meat to it, but the juice may not be worth the squeeze for this once if you plan on ordering another fried dish as your entree. Carrot Cake for dessert - it was great! Just very heavy after an already heavy meal. Don't forget, you also have a few other great options nearby if you need to walk around before making a dessert decision! Only thing that has changed was the pressure of the waiter making us feel like a number and a tip more so than a customer enjoying a sought-after spot at a favored restaurant. It seemed like he changed moods in a snap once we were nearing the end of our time experience. Still, a great night with great memories and great food!

Yelp
Excellent service and cocktails, would like to come back to try more of the entrees. Great location in pearl district right outside the weekend market.

Yelp
Had a wonderful meal here. Great ambience in a historical building and nicely decorated for the holidays. Loved the fish cheeks! They have some unique sides that make family sharing fun. Hot towels and gloves provided for the shrimp boil - nice touch. Service was a bit slow and salad was lacking toppings (it was later compensated). I would definitely try it again.

Yelp
The food was superior, as were the bar drinks. You can't top the ambiance. It's so romantic. We wanted a change, so we sat on the comfortable stools at the bar. Good decision, and interesting to watch the drinks being made. The service from the bartender was spot-on!

Yelp
Conveniently located in The Pearl complex near Hotel Emma, Southerleigh's was a delightful dining experience. We used the Yelp app/Open Table to secure a table for 4 inside for a Saturday night. I highly encourage reservations at this establishment. From the moment we walked in the front door we received exemplary service. While the Host staff were quickly attending to all, Scott the General Manager jumped in to help too. We love the teamwork philosophy here. It's a well oiled machine.

Yelp
Ambiance and service was great, but honestly the food didn't impress me as much. I got the fried chicken and calamari, and both were a little too salty for my liking. However, when the weather is nice, sitting outside gives you such a beautiful view of the Pearl and it was honestly a great experience nonetheless.

Yelp
We decided to stop by Southerleigh for a late lunch. We were greeted by a smiling and kind host, Dereck. The ambience was beautiful as always. The chairs are comfortable, the lighting is nice, and the service is always impeccable. Our server on this visit was Chris. He was kind and patient and made great recommendations. We started with a round of beer, cocktails, and some oysters for the table. The oysters were refreshing and delicious and our drinks tasted great. Our server did not rush us as we sat, caught up, and talked about the menu. Our party ended up ordering the hot chicken sandwiches, the fried chicken, the crab Mac and cheese, and the lunch special: shrimp grilled cheese and curried tomato soup. Everything was amazing but the lunch special. It was actually quite disgusting and not what we were expecting. The shrimp had a very fishy odor, and there was a giant clove of garlic in the sandwich as pictured in the photo. It was more like a wilted spinach sandwich, not a grilled cheese. If we knew what it would be like, we would not have ordered. Again, everything else was amazing besides this nasty sandwich. We will be back, but we will not order this lunch special again!

Yelp
Oh my goodness - who knew a person could get grits this good in the state of Texas?! After all, this is not the South, home to REAL grits! Truth is that Southerleigh has come up with a recipe for the best Jalapeno Cheddar Grits ON THE PLANET. The super-fine ground corn grits had a beautiful, delicate quality not usually experienced. Where did they find these magic grits?Just the right amount of peppers gave the dish a great flavor without all the heat. Add just enough cheddar and lots of butter and milk to make it SUPER creamy and dreamy. REALLY. I've eaten grits in restaurants both simple and fancy in multiple states over many years, and these are by far the very best EVER! My dining companion and I were swooning. Never expected to write a love letter to grits, but there you go.

Yelp
This place is delicious. Food was great. Service was great and the location/ambiance is fantastic. Only thing that made me give one less star was the flys inside. There were a few.
