"As one of the oldest restaurants in Los Gatos, Southern Kitchen first opened more than 40 years ago in a historic building. To this day, the brunch spot embodies a uniquely cozy and charming aura with picturesque outdoor seating. There’s no shortage of breakfast items on the menu including pancakes, waffles, omelets, and fried chicken, but the restaurant is most well-known for its Southern-style breakfast dishes, including shrimp and grits, steak and eggs, and chicken and waffles. The Country Special comes with sausage, scrambled eggs, biscuits, and gravy, while the Breakfast of Champions is the ultimate platter with two pancakes, bacon, sausage, eggs, and a choice between hash browns or grits." - Dianne de Guzman, Cathy Park

Yelp
I came here after going on a hike and Im pretty sure it cured my depression. I got a burger and when I ate it i felt the purest form of ecstasy that a mortal can experience. Maybe I was really hungry or maybe it was really good, idk but I would marry that cheeseburger. I wanted to be like that guy in ratatouille and say compliments to the chef. Like I'm pretty sure I peaked in life eating here. So all in all if the Zoloft aint hitting the spot go here.

Yelp
IDK why? people have not reviewed these guys!!!! They deserve more reviews &'I'm pretty's sure I'm NOT the only person ELITE I came in to update my review & I was the last person to review which was 2Yrs Ago soooo if your reading this & happen to be in town or live local & have never been, Slide through, prices are not too bad for the food & drinks, parking suks! it's down town LG so good luck! but service is A+ from the time u walk in till the time you leave. Good Company or solo bolo, check this place out. Hrs are limited, that's even better. Because I like to try new & random places, apparently it took me a Whole 2yrs later to pay this place a visit

Yelp
Godawful! And the service was atrocious. It took 15 minutes after I sat down before anyone even came by to ask if I wanted coffee. I ordered the chicken fried steak with eggs over easy. It took nearly 30 minutes for the order to arrive. The eggs were fried hard. Nary a runny yolk to be seen. The steak was dry....like it was sitting under the heat lamp since before I ordered. The gravy was meh. The rye toast was good, but it was brought out about 15 minutes before the rest of the meal, so it was cold by the time I started to eat it. And the service can't be excused by the crowd. The crowd was negligible. There were 8-10 servers out front for the small amount of tables...some of which sat empty. No next time. Hard pass!

Yelp
I made an exception to my usual rule of not getting southern food outside of the South for this spot, safe to say I'll go back to sticking to it. I called ahead to confirm that they were open on a holiday, they gave me wait times and I left my name, party size, and estimated eta to join the waitlist. I had really high hopes at this point because it was one of the better call ahead experiences I've had. When we arrived we were told that it would still be 10-15 minutes wait for an indoor table, which was in alignment with the original estimated wait time I got on the phone. No problem, we walked around a bit and came back. Both hostesses just seemed absent-minded at this point, we checked back in but ended up awkwardly standing around as we didn't get a clear answer on whether we had to wait longer or we would soon be seated. I started to have doubts about the quality of my overall experience at this point. I had the Los Gatos "Lu" special. The chicken was on the dry side and not to my liking. The biscuits were a little strange as well--in a way that I'm not too sure how to describe other than they didn't taste like any biscuits I've ever had before and were not to my liking. The gravy was the best component, but it was very white in color whereas I was expecting a bit more flavor/color. I'll give the staff kudos for being open and working on a holiday, but in terms of the food much improvement can be made. Even if this is California's own version of southern food as other reviews have called it, I hope those who have never tried authentic southern food before don't get the wrong idea.

Yelp
Came here right when they opened Sunday morning and there were alreayldy several groups inside being served. The waitress was very friendly and catered to our needs well. What we got: The Southern omelette, no cheese (4/5) -- loved the portions of the omelette and the hashbrowns but both needed seasoning which was readily available at our table. Hashbrowns were super crispy and inside was tender, but not mush which I like Cornbread (2/5) -- good corn flavor but so dry and crumbly, I did not want to finish it even with the butter they givr you...I would opt for toast next time Fried chicken churro waffle (5/5) -- i thought this was pricey (~18) but it is so worth it, especially if you come with a group that wants to share. Came out piping hot with crispy edges, fluffy interior, and nice bits of salty fried chicken dispersed throughout. I will say that it bloated me for the entire day so the lactose intolerants definitely need to bring their lactase if they get this Corn beef eggs benedict (5/5) -- my friend had no complaints and said he would come back here The only Southern part of the meal, the cornbread, was weak but I will be returning for the churro waffle and other items.

Yelp
Service was good, the food was okay. I lost my appetite which is not their fault at all. But I did eat the sausage and half my eggs which was good. The sausage was my favorite. The fruit was good except the strawberries were the sourest strawberries I've ever eaten. Maybe they're not in season? Everything was okay. My only complaint is I asked for a new water since a fly flew inside of my cup and was floating in the water (we sat outside). The gentlemen replenishing our drinks dumped it in the bush, left, and came back with a refilled water in the SAME CUP. The fly was STILL in the cup, but on the rim of the cup this time. Please just get a new cup next time ?

Yelp
Cozy spot in downtown Los Gatos - stepped in around 9am on a Sunday (no lines)! Enjoyed a mimosa and a few dishes. Pancakes have a great crisp to them (the maple syrup is very very good), but the refried beans on the omelette and the grits were a bit on the cooler side (temperature wise). Going to try and come back to check out the country gravy and fried chicken dishes!

Cathy U.

Yelp
Best Egg Benedict I've ever had??!?! I need to come back and take a deconstructed photo - their roasted tomatoes, sauce, perfectly toasted English muffin, and the flavor and consistency of their sauce, eggs, and avocado! What an unexpected win!

Matthew C.

Yelp
This isn't just bad southern food, this is just bad food. It's really surprising that this has such a high rating. We waited for about 40 minutes to get seated, and we got the Los Gatos "Lu" Specialty and the Bacon Fried Waffle for $42 dollars. The Lu is fried chicken and biscuits and gravy. The chicken was dry and had no crispiness to it. The bisuits were so wet and had so little structure. The best part was the gravy, but it definitely wasn't a very southern style, heavy gravy. It was pretty light, but I did like the gravy. I think the Lu was way better than the bacon fried waffle though, which is kind of scary. It was 1 large waffle cut into quarters and served with whipped cream and syrup. I eat a lot and I rarely do not finish or take home food, but this time, I ate one quarter and couldn't bring myself to eat any more. The waffle is absolutely drowned in cinnamon and sugar with bacon mixed into the batter, but the bacon itself isn't crispy or flavorful, it's just soggy and sad. The cinnamon and sugar sounds super promising too, but it turns out the waffle is so dry and crumbly, you can't even tell the difference in texture between sugar and waffle.

Yelp
i came here around 12:30 pm on a sunday with a group of 6. we were seated at a circular booth where the booth took up maybe 2/3 of the circle, so it was a pretty tight squeeze. i ordered the eggs benedict for myself and we ordered the berry french toast (for dessert) and chicken fried waffle to share. my eggs benedict was fine but nothing standout. i thought the presentation of the berry french toast was well done. overall a solid spot for casual brunch, but nothing particularly standout.

Yelp
We were here on a Saturday for brunch. The place does not accept reservations. There was a 15 minute wait time. However, the service is quick once you are seated. The restaurant could be a lot cleaner than it is. My wife ordered the huevos rancheros and she like it a lot. Would give 4/5. It was flavorful and the potatoes were crispy and well seasoned. I ordered their Los Gatos LU, which is their fried chicken with biscuits and gravy. The dish was very flavorful. Chicken, crispy and well seasoned. However, unlike other places where they give you more protein, here they serve one piece of chicken with 4 biscuits and gravy to fill you up. Feels like a gimmick. And the cocktails are not freshly made in the house. They are from packaged off the shelf bottles.

Shreya S.

Yelp
The ambience of this place is like that of an old diner. The service was friendly and attentive. I tried the huevos rancheros. It was pretty good. The eggs were done nicely. And the quantity wasn't crazy , so I could actually finish the thing. Only thing is that it was definitely on the pricier side.

Yelp
My wife and I had family visiting from Michigan and I needed a spot that offered breakfast at lunch plus a lunch menu. I also wanted someplace close enough to N. Santa Cruz Ave. that we could park once for lunch and shopping. Sara's Southern Kitchen marked all the boxes. The menu is comprehensive but not massive, the inside dining room is comfortable with good energy and the service was friendly and efficient. The most important thing is that the food was excellent. We had two orders of Huevos Rancheros, a Monte Cristo sandwich and an off-menu sandwich for my wife. The Huevos Rancheros were served on the small hard tortillas that are popular these days with a serving of refried beans and nicely cooked eggs. They were served with country potatoes, well-spiced with peppers and onions. The Monte Cristo was classically prepared and tasty. The off-menu sandwich for my wife was perfect and her French fries were hot an tasty. The dining room is not large but there is a decent selection of booths, tables and banquette seating. There is also a small outdoor seating area on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant. The front of the house was staffed by a woman I assume was the owner and a single waiter. They were friendly and handled the busy lunch crowd easily. They were also both very nice. I had lunch in this restaurant years ago when it was under different management. Physically the place is unchanged but the food and the energy are greatly improved.

Yelp
Super awesome restaurant. The place is small and there is indoor and outdoor seating so that's nice but expect a little bit of a wait when going here. The servers are friendly and helpful and didn't leave us hanging. The food was amazing. Firstly I'm a huge pancake fan and their gluten free pancakes are the best in the game. Great texture, smooth, and little sweet and a great size. Their meat lovers omelet was very delicious. The pepper jack cheese was on the top of the omelet and made it perfectly cheesy. The inside was juicy from the breakfast meat but not greasy. Their country potatoes are delicious and homestyle in the sense of how they are cooked. Their breakfast sausage is also really good I'd say my favorite of any place I've been to in San Jose. Their chorizo scramble is also very delicious , not too greasy, simple and very flavorful. How they were able to not make that one greasy when it typically is at some other places amazes me. All in all a fantastic place to eat breakfast if you're in the area.

Yelp
Amazing breakfast place- great service, nice outdoor patio. My new go-to place for early morning breakfast. Did I mention the biscuits? So delicious.

Yelp
I can't think of a more "meh" version of Southern food than what I had at Southern Kitchen. And the fact that it ended up being nearly $250 to feed six adults and four kids made it extra obnoxious (~$38 of that total was gratuity). The food is average at best. I got one of the specials (Cajun Hash); it was recommended by the server, and it was $17.51, and it was literally something I've made at home (you can do it too, just chop up some potatoes and a sausage, and make a "pbbbt" sound while dropping it all into a bowl). I'm assuming Californians haven't had legitimate Southern food, based on the high reviews for this place...

Nith V.

Yelp
Went again last week and the food wasn't great. Since it was a great day, we sat out but had a lingering smell in the area. It took a while for the food to arrive and the basic Huevous a la Mexicana wasn't great. It lacked flavor and they didn't have any spicy (or any) house-salsa And they messed up the bill again and it needed to be corrected this time too.

Mike K.

Yelp
What a great find! All the regular stuff and a whole lot of innovative dishes for breakfast. I had the chicken waffle- chicken inside the waffle- and it was delicious. Sat at the counter. Service was fast and friendly. Coffee was bold and nutty. Definately want to go back and try some more!

Yelp
This place was... okay. Can't really say anything better than that. I went on a Sunday for brunch in a group of 4 and had a decent meal. Unfortunately it wasn't special at all despite the prices indicating so. I had the chicken fried steak and eggs, with hash browns and banana bread, with a side of biscuits and gravy. This is like southern breakfast 101 so I was expecting good things. And... it wasn't bad. But it was just kind of average. First, nothing was seasoned enough. I like a lot more pepper than most people, so I expected to add that, but I also felt like nothing was salted enough. I don't really like salty food so this was surprising. The gravy, which was on the chicken fried steak and the biscuits, was also very blah. Not much flavor, not much seasoning. Hash browns were also not well seasoned and it was kind of a stingy portion. The banana bread was pretty good, I appreciated the mostly melted butter vs the more normal rock-hard bricks you get. I also have to mention I waited about 45 minutes for a table at noon. The line was pretty long. And there is barely any parking as it's all street and there's tons of shops. Probably won't be back but it was nice to try. I had high hopes for this place but don't

Yelp
On my quest for a spectacular eggs Benedict, I heard that this cute little southern style breakfast place in Los Gatos had great crab Benedict's, only to find out that they discontinued them last Fall. I don't know why the owner would take something so popular off the menu! So I ordered the California Benedict, which includes tomatoes and avocados, with a side of "bananas fosters" style French toast. The French toast was light, fluffy, and tasted just like bananas foster. The eggs for the Benedict were cooked perfectly, the muffin was toasted nicely and the hollandaise sauce very tasty. Usually in a California Benedict, they just put a sliced tomato under the egg, but they grilled the tomato's, which was a nice touch. The hash browns were brown on the top and moist on the inside, just as they should be. There was a mix up on my order but it was quickly rectified, so the service was great. All in all, a good experience.

Krys Y.

Yelp
Oh my gawd, you guys! Had brunch here for the first time and everything was delish! The fried chicken and sausage gravy was definitely a stand out for me. Our servers were fantastic! Super attentive, but not overbearing. When I walked in, 2 servers greeted me and offered me to sit wherever I would like. It was a beautiful day and they have plenty of shade over the outdoor patio, so I chose to wait for my work-wife outside. Even the neighborhood is hella cute. Will definitely visit them again.

Andrew R.

Yelp
Right off the bat I have to take off one star because we were told it would be a 10 minute wait, and we ended up waiting right outside the restaurant for 45+ minutes. I get it, Sunday brunch can be busy, but I wish they would have told us a more realistic wait time so we could have gone somewhere else, as we were in a bit of a rush. The restaurant really wasn't that busy, so I think maybe it was just super slow customers, but I will say the service was also a bit slow. For food I ordered the friend chicken waffle. It was... int. I like the idea of the chicken being in the waffle, but the cinnamon sugar was a bit too much even for me. There was just so much going on and it was a bit over complicated. I wish I would have just gotten the regular chicken and waffles. I also tried the bacon fried waffle and it was about the same, maybe a little bit better. And the hash browns were not good and desperately needed salt or some flavor. Overall it's a cute restaurant, but the food and service need some work.

Michael S.

Yelp
100% always love going to this family , small town feel place to have breakfast. Very friendly staff always , and I mean always ! The food is fresh , well cooked and as ordered. Some unique items on the menu and although I stick to just a few favorites from seeing other dishes you can't go wrong. Inside and outside seating with some counter spots of by yourself. Really this is a must try !

Dean K.

Yelp
Love it- always a treat for breakfast - chicken and waffles - smoked salmon Benedict was perfect. Always a first consideration for brunch. 10/10

Frances R.

Yelp
Make sure to tell your GPS that you want to go to the Southern Kitchen in LOS GATOS and NOT in San Jose. Made a mistake on asking for directions to Southern Kitchen and brought me to SJ automatically. It is two totally different places obviously When we finally arrived to the correct restaurant, the ambiance made me feel I was transported away from the city life. Loved the feel of the diner counter and look of the booths. We ordered the Monte Cristo, The Lu, pancaked, Bacon Fried Waffle. Everything was amazing. Pancakes- My husband said the pancakes was the best he had. It was nice fluffy The bacon fried waffle was a good balance of sweet and savory. I just had to try the waffles since it was covered in cinnamon and sugar - reminded me of a churro. The gravy on the Lu was awesome. We wished to have a bigger piece of chicken to balance it all out with the biscuit.

Andrea W.

Yelp
What happened here? Got a CA Benedict the other day. First off. With hashbrowns as an included side, was over $20. Wasnt a huge portion. Hashbrowns were kinda burned. Definitely didn't taste great. Eggs seemed small and a bit overdone. Really disappointing. Used to be great food here. Will not be returning.

Pratik D.

Yelp
Can get very crowded during weekends, so reach early. Interiors and very southern and food is great. They usually have very nice specials. I got the fried chicken with biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were very good and Cajun flavoring on the chicken was great ! Since it gets busy, the service can take longer than usual and is often chaotic. But they have always provided appropriate compensation.

Susan P.

Yelp
My husband and I love this place! We went for breakfast Friday morning and had great food and a great experience (as usual). This time was exceptionally great! We were greeted by Sydney and she seated us. She is such a lovely young lady. She is very friendly and sweet and very professional and she really works hard. She bring an uplifting presence to Southern Kitchen. Juan brought us water and kept our coffee cups full and he is a very nice man. Speaking of coffee, this is not your usual diner type coffee. It is great! So rich and robust. I enjoyed one of my favorites, avocado toast, which is so yummy. It is prepared with toast avocado, tomato, and two poached eggs. My husband enjoyed brioche French toast and loved it! I snuck a couple of pieces and I really liked it. This is such a cute restaurant with a feeling of home.

Erin H.

Yelp
I love the community of regulars at this place. It's a home town breakfast place with high quality local patrons. It's the Cheers! of breakfast places. The owner is right in the mix with her employees serving up breakfast, filling coffee, shaking hands, and holding babies. This is the first place I think of when I recommend a breakfast place in town to visitors or locals. Don't miss out on this town diamond!

Vivi B.

Yelp
I loved this place. What a surprise. We were on a walk looking for a breakfast place and stumbled across this neighborhoos gem. The avocado toast was delicious. It's super cute and such a fun vibe. Would totally go back.

Oh C.

Yelp
Food is inedible! The bacon is hard not light and crispy just dried up. The eggs were cooked wrong and missing the sides. The grits were obviously left on the burner so long that the burnt bottom of the pot had permeated the entire dish. Yet they felt they should serve this?! Pathetic quality control and just feels like they don't care if they're sending out burnt food. Too many delicious places in LG to waste money here.

Amber L.

Yelp
Overall nice breakfast. Had the chicken and waffles. Nice taste overall. It has a creamy white sauce on the chicken and waffles. It was distinct and different. Had two eggs over easy and the food was good, served quick and at a reasonable price. Service was fast and attentive.

X O.

Yelp
The southern kitchen is in a nice area. It's on the main street. There's plenty of places to eat at. I wanted some southern fried chicken for breakfast. I saw a plate of chicken and waffles. I should've got the chicken and waffles cause your biscuits were hard chef Mike microwaved. The staff was very nice and helpful energetic and positive. I should've asked them what was good on the menu today like I normally do but I just wanted some fried chicken and biscuits and gravy.

Denise D.

Yelp
I had this place book marked on my Yelp for a while, and was so excited to try this place. I'm saddened to say, it did not live up to the hype. The food was okay, my shrimp and grits were the tastiest thing we ate that day. I think what killed it for me was the service, or lack there of. Not a friendly greeting. I wore a Good Moms, Bad Choices shirt, and the waitress scoffed openly at it. When ordering drinks, I asked for a Bloody Maria and received a puzzled look along with eye rolls. I think the thing that baffled me most was when my beau, @Duante Barnett, tried to substitute an item on his chicken fried steak breakfast. He was flat out told no...NO...not, oh, sure, but that'll be an up charge. I think when you eat out, you expect a modicum of accommodation in this service driven industry. And, polite service. We got neither. And after spending $90 with tip, I expect at least a warm greeting, because the same waitress who couldn't be bothered to be polite to this young, brown couple, was BEYOND friendly to all the other folks she sat and waited on right in front of us. Thank goodness the busboys attended to our minor requests, or else we would have felt entirely neglected. I'd say you can find better food and service than what I experienced this day. I truly hope it was a fluke, but I won't be back to see if that's the case.

Erich L.

Yelp
Very good breakfast Palin Los Gatos. I had the California Benedict with grits. The second dish was the Cajun sausage scramble, also good. They have a nice place for outdoor seating. Last time I was here was before Covid and they changed ownership. It's still good. Coffee is good here which is always important. Note they do charge a little extra for card payments over cash.

Vanesa H.

Yelp
Parking can be sparse depending on when you go. I took a few minutes to get a spot but no wait going into Southern Kitchen. The wait staff were friendly and responsive and the interior is cozy. Not as big as other breakfast places so I didn't feel as rushed. I ordered county potatoes and the chicken fried waffles. You can definitely taste the chicken in the waffles and it was good! Might be on the sweeter side but if you're into chicken and waffles usually, you should like this combination. Country potatoes were pretty bland to me unfortunately and not worth their price. My friend ordered an omelette and it was smaller than she expected for a breakfast place. Overall, decent. I would go again if I was in the area.

Adam J.

Yelp
Southern Kitchen is one of the top LG breakfast spots, along with LG Cafe. The menu is great, with some nice seasonal specials like their fried green tomatoes. The food is all well executed and I don't recall eating anything with didn't enjoy. Since COVID they have seriously amped up their outside eating game, which I appreciate given we usually go after a brisk hike with our dog. My only complaint is their front of house person, last week she yawned in my face when taking our names and vapes whilst waiting around. A friend of ours was told if they wanted to move table they would be responsible for moving dishes/utensils etc. We'll be back, it's a great place but it's a shame to see the front of house letting the rest of the team down.

Stormy M.

Yelp
This is our "go to" spot for breakfast in Los Gatos. Everyone here is so friendly. Sara, the owner, always has a huge and welcoming smile on her face and the rest of her employees follow her example, so the service here is so wonderful!! All the food items I've ordered here have been great. The eggs are prepared to your specific order, pancakes have the option of real maple syrup, they have all the rest of the typical breakfast items, and they recently started serving fried waffles. Have to try that at least once! This is a beautiful place to sit outside (they did a great job of opening a seated parklet area) and it is right across the street from a hiking trailhead with lots of people walking by. The weekends can be crowded, so come early. This is definitely a great place to enjoy your breakfast in Los Gatos.

Andrew S.

Yelp
I came for breakfast around 8am and it was freezing that day and the door was open so it was very cold inside the restaurant. I got a decaf and the shrimp and grits. Service was friendly. The shrimp and grits were a little pricey but it's Los Gatos. The shrimp and grits were amazing -- creamy, bacony, and lots of shrimp (8 of them, I counted). By the time I finished (around 9) it was pretty busy. Very nice atmosphere and well decorated.

Colette V.

Yelp
Ordered 2 chicken and waffles. They forgot the chicken... yummy waffle but coated w/ soooooo much sugar. I have a huge sweet tooth but the sugar was so overwhelming it ruined the waffle. Grits were completely burnt, smelled horrible, gagged when eating, couldn't even have more than a bite. Forgot the English muffin with the chorizo eggs (done completely wrong) , wayyy too much onion. Wouldn't ever order again and don't recommend to anybody. They later told me the chicken was "in the waffles" opened up all the waffles to check and I couldn't even find tiny pieces. Spent $100 total on pretty much nothing edible. It's astonishing how they were able to mess up every single thing in the order.

April F.

Yelp
Another great breakfast! Great friendly service, food arrived promptly and dishes were quality ingredients and prepared perfectly! We enjoy this local spot. Southern Kitchen is our go to!!

John H.

Yelp
Raining today so no outdoor dining. Great day for heart warming Southern comfort food. Very calming atmosphere. Welcoming and quick service.

Eric S.

Yelp
Wonderful outdoor seating atmosphere- even on winter days the sun coats the dining area and we even saw many cute dogs. My SO's attention was split between the dogs and our delicious food. Both the scramble/skillet and the Benedict's are great as pictured. Would definitely come back.

Danielle A.

Yelp
Please order the corned beef hash it was so freaking good. The beef was crispy, the veggies were well seasoned, and the potatoes were so tasty as well. The biscuit and gravy was awesome as well. Very flavorful gravy alongside a flaky soft homemade biscuit. The cornbread was also very soft and delicious. The steak and eggs were not flavorful and I would not order it again, but I'm hoping that was just a one off because everything else was perfect. If you're in Los Gatos, please give them a try!

Kasi M.

Yelp
When it comes to breakfast in Los Gatos, Southern Kitchen is my top choice without a doubt. I've been a loyal patron for many years, and I can honestly say I've never been disappointed. The food is consistently fantastic, no matter what you order, and the service is always on point. Thank you so much to the team at Southern Kitchen--you're the best!

Aiza B.

Yelp
5/5Downright Southern... @sarasouthernkitchen . Pictured: 1) SSK Belgian Waffle- perfectly soft and semisweet with a side of whipped butter and maple syrup. Oh so darn good. 2) Shrimp and grits (minus the bacon). Absolute heaven. So so good. Overall these dishes were flavorful without being overpowering. My guy and I loved everything about it. Simple yet not-so-simple breakfast. This is a nice spot that fills up fast early mornings in Los Gatos. Take in the view with some good company and coffee. Be sure to find parking early on as it can get crowded easily. We found parking along the street past the overpass. @hungrynursetravels

Yelp
Updating my review (and removing some stars) after taking a second look at my receipt. We were charged an additional $1.00-$2.00/item when compared to the advertised menu price in person. The chicken and waffles were supposed to be 16.99, not 17.95. The avocado toast was supposed to be 15.99, not 16.95. The mimosa was supposed to be 10, not 12. Am I unaware of an additional "brunch surcharge" in downtown Los Gatos? If so, it was not advertised. Not a fan of shady business moves like that. This isn't including the 3% surcharge for non-cash transactions, but at least that was advertised on the menu and displayed on the receipt.

Ariana R.

Yelp
Chicken and* waffle. JUICY CHICKEN, DELICIOUS GRAVY. Chicken in* waffle. Sweet, savory, and GENIUS! Crispy sugary goodness! Cajun sausage scramble. Wasn't greasy, perfect amount of spice, a must-try. Service and ambiance are always on point. Worth the wait time, worth the price, worth coming back again and again! Check this out, we came back 2 weeks after the first time we tried it because we couldn't stop craving the chicken waffle. It's a small restaurant so if you have 5 or more in your party i recommend calling to give them the heads up.

Yelp
I had high hopes but mid is probably the best way to describe southern kitchen. Pros: staff is nice, and we were seated immediately around 1pm since the breakfast rush probably calmed down. Also their menu is huge with tons of lunch and breakfast options (they're lacking on drink options though) The food was alright. My friend really enjoyed his huevos rancheros but my other friend did not like his taco salad since there wasn't much in it and the taco shell felt too oily. I got a breakfast burrito and it had too many peppers for my liking, and the salsa lacked flavor. I think it might be a hit or a miss with some dishes here so definitely go for the specials or for the more popular dishes.

Yelp
This review is solely based on the Ruben sandwich. My husband went here with his friend for lunch. He brought me back the Ruben. It came with fries. The first thing I see on top of the sandwich was a piece of chopped lettuce. Ok...sure. When I first hit into the sandwich, the rye bread tasted slightly burnt. I didn't quite like the huge chunks since I wasn't used to a Ruben like that. I kept eating and realized that wasn't my problem. I went back to read the description of the sandwich and it said it was a coleslaw. I'm not sure about you but wilted chipped lettuce with melted cheese is not what I consider a slaw. The meat was perfectly fine. The fries were fine. If I ever order from here again, I'll be sure not to get the Ruben.
