I want to give an honest, realistic review of Spa Eastman. My impressions line up much more with the 3ish-star reviews than the glowing 5-star ones that contain so many superlatives (many of which frankly feel written by non humans). This review is from a real local visitor who spent a day there.
Pros
Beautiful day when I visited, and the outdoor hot tubs are lovely.
Some of the original décor, even as it ages, still has a creative and beautiful charm.
Some genuinely down-to-earth, hardworking, and friendly staff.
Treatments were punctual, done with kindness and professionalism (though I’d rate them average overall).
Restaurant service was attentive and the food is good if you enjoy creative, health-focused cuisine.
Cons
Many areas are in visible disrepair (see photos). For a local day trip it was fine, but if I had traveled far or given this as a gift, I would have been very disappointed. Locker room is in the worst shape: peeling paint, rust on mirrors, badly damaged lockers, old blow dryers, and no comfortable seating to finish getting ready after a shower. I am unclear why they would not replace 4 hair-dryers that are in such bad aesthetic condition.
Odd clutter and storage items are left in guest areas, like the front vestibule and around the pools — not what you want to stare at while relaxing.
Disorganized atmosphere: scattered pool chairs, non-cohesive design styles. Inconsistent, untimely, and even some rude communication from the “hospitality” staff.
Towels! (and other small details): Despite having a full day of treatments and lunch paid for, I was told conflicting things about whether I was even entitled to a towel! It took me quite some time to obtain a towel and a robe. Guests should never be made to feel awkward over something so basic. Unfortunately, the way I was then later handled at check-out (due to their confusion, not mine) left a bad taste and ended the day on a sour note.
Bottom line
My day was “okay,” thanks to the hardworking treatment staff and servers. But overall, Spa Eastman feels a bit tired, moderately disorganized, and not gift-worthy in its current state. I would not bring someone here expecting a polished, 5-star experience, nor would I give it as a gift I’d feel proud of. With some investment in upkeep, organization, and true hospitality training, it could live up to its reputation again. Until then, expect more of a 3-star reality than a 5-star escape.
