Update: I went on a weekday and it’s significantly better, so I’m changing my review stars. Ordered the thin crust pizza and lasagna (pictured). Very fresh and savory. The cheese was gooey and everything tasted great. Long story short: don’t go when they’re busy! Previous 2-star review: We arrived at 6:15pm on a Sunday and the host said it would be a 45 minute wait, but we got our table at 6:30. From the moment we sat down, our waitress did not come to take our drink order until 6:55. They were incredibly busy and we couldn’t find anyone else to flag so they could help us. She did apologize for the wait, and took our order right away, which was another 20+ minute wait. Baked spaghetti came first before our appetizer. It was dry and bland. Breadsticks were also stale. Our appetizer came out next, which was the mozzarella sticks and fried mushrooms. Very tasty dish, can’t really go wrong with fried foods. Our pizza came out last, and sadly I didn’t take a picture of it. We ordered the pepperoni passion and it only had 1 pepperoni per slice. Very disappointed in the toppings, but the deep dish bread itself was good. Used to love Spankys but I don’t feel it’s the same quality as before. Definitely will not go back when it’s this busy again.

Hands down, my fave pizza place in Houston PERIOD! Everything here is authentic and you can taste it. The service is always warm and welcoming. Food to go or dining in never takes long. Definitely a Houston staple IMO.

I am glad we came across Spanky’s the food was delish! I order a personal veggie pizza with a side salad. It was pretty packed when. We went but were seated very quickly. The staff was great and we got our food quickly.

We ordered through door dash. So, I'm not so sure about the service or atmosphere of the restaurant, it's only fair. I give them 3 stars for an average rating. Anyways, we've been wanting to eat from this place for a while now. We ordered a small veggie and a large pepperoni. In all honesty, that veggie was unbelievably packed full of toppings and made for a better pizza than the pepperoni. Wish we would have gotten a large veggie and a small pepperoni. Well, now we know. I'm giving them a 4 star rating because the pizza was incredibly greasy. Sorry, next time I'll give better photos. But we were hungry. 🤷‍♂️

Split 8 slices either my date here for the first time! Got the medium super pepperoni add mushrooms, def worth it! I’ll be back to try the supreme!

My deep dish pizza, is all raw dough in the middle of the pizza. This is several times the food has just been poor quality. The last time my onion rings were all soggy, inedible.

Excellent quality of deep dish Super Duper Pizza. Very fresh crust and baked to perfection. Very busy place which is a good thing. This is the original location on Telephone Road at South Loop East since 1976. Reasonable price for awesome food quality.

We went with a party of 12 after a 1st communion and we were told we had to wait an hour for our table.. we only waited about 20 mins before they were very accommodating and got all of us seated quickly.. the service was fast, the food was delicious as always.. Thanks you for the wonderful service..

Went for lunch with the family and the pizza was good, stuffed crust pepperoni, good buffalo chicken salad, good grilled chicken salad. The breadsticks are not so good, the pickle chips are plentiful but subpar. I don't care how good the food is, if the server has a full beard! Please have the server wear a beard net or something! Almost barfed when our food was brought out. Just the thought of beard hair getting in our food was gross. Obviously a delicate subject, I'm sure the server has the restaurant management over a barrel.

10/10 DO recommend....this is the type of pizza you eat the daggon crust!! the place is PACKED on a Wednesday

Everything was just mid. We got the mozzarella sticks and they were good but nothing to write home about. The fried mushrooms however were just bad, they were overly battered and didn't taste like mushrooms at all. The pizza, Alfredo were okay, reminded me of Olive Garden. The desserts were good bur doesn't make up for the rest of the meal.

I don't have any complaints about this visit. The pizza was good. The deep dish crust was crispy, like sourdough bread. The wings were cooked perfectly. Battered, then fried until Crispy and drenched in buffalo wing sauce. The kids enjoyed themselves and loved the food. The restaurant itself was nice. Lots of tvs and clean. Service was good, except the hostess looked like she was disgusted when she had to seat people. I even detected a grimace a couple of times. Can't imagine that job being ultra difficult. I highly recommend visit to Spanky's.

It was my first time trying fried jalapeños, and they were great! Fried pickles are my favorite and they were delicious also! The fried onions are basically onion rings but were also great! The pasta was very mid. The shrimp were seasoned well, but the pasta was very bland. No taste at all! But overall the service was great and quick!

A super fun (and busy) place for sports games!! The pizza here is so tasty and such a good pride. My aunts ordered the Alfredo and loved it. The breadsticks that come with it look so good, too! Clean restaurant, friendly staff, and plenty of parking in their lot. I got the pepperoni passion personal size pizza (thin crust only available when you get personal size). They do really load it with pepperoni!! Soooo good.

Ordered onion rings with jalapeño's. Awful!!!! Soggy and greasy. Just gross. I will not eat there again.

It was a great experience and the Watermelon Marg was perfect for this Texas heat. The waiter was helpful.

Book marked this place a long time ago and finally had a pizza & pasta night. I honestly wished I ate dine in so i could try the drink menu but they were closing soon so take out was already working out in my favor. Entering in, the environment was lively; even for a Monday. The young lady at the to go counter explained the menu nicely, and had our food out in 20 minutes. Best $$ i've spent on pizza in awhile! The pasta was real cheesy and I loved everyyy bite of it. The pizza fed my ole' man to a T and had us comfortable in our netflix and chill night. Definitely coming back sooner than later. Thanks!

I love their pizzas and cheesesteak with jalapeños! Oh and let's not forget their margaritas, so soooooo good! The service is consistently good, and the ambiance is always nice and bright and comfy.

Had a hamburger with fresh french fries double patties freshly made and mushrooms were hot and delicious with fresh ranch sauce. Very good.

This is the original Spanky's. It's been around forever & I see why. We ordered a large pizza & was able to do half flavors. We had spinach & garlic on 1 side & meat lovers on the other. The pizza was delicious! We also ordered wings. They only have 2 flavors, but they were delicious as well. I had a mango & strawberry margarita that was good as well. I took 1 star away for the fried mushrooms. I didn't like them at all. Our server was great & we got our food quickly. There are plenty of tvs so if you want to check out a game while enjoying great pizza & wings this is the place.

Spanky's pizza is my only go-to here. The chicken Alfredo one is my favorite. The wings be eh sometimes to me. I usually pick-up. The service is fine. The vibe inside gives old-school weekend family spot.

Pizza is so yummy. Reminds me of NY style flavor. Took my children for a lil Saturday date and was not disappointed. It's not a new establishment so it had that homey feel. Customer service is good and cool for people who wanna watch the game and drink or for families

The food was excellent. I ordered the Stromboli Italian Club and it was great. The crust it's baked in is delicious and the size is amazing for the price. I had a slice of the veggie pizza my wife ordered and the pizza is very good. Ever loved the pizza crust. There's a ton of seating and lots of people eating and celebrating. Had a lively feel. We saw many items we want to try if we come back.

My best friend from college owns this restaurant!! To say it is delicious is an understatement!!! It has been a locally owned restaurant for decades!!! Her father owned it and then passed it down to her and her sister!! Some of their employees have been here since the beginning!!! This is the original location!! The new one is even swankier!!! They also have a barbecue restaurant named Gabby's, but let's focus on this one!!!! First off, the cheese sticks!! Just get them!!! Great way to start your meal!!! The marinara sauce is to die for!!!! The garlic and basil!!! So much flavor!! Don't forget to ask for a side of ranch!!! My daughter ate 5!!! I have only ever had one of their pizzas and there's a reason for that! It's absolutely incredible!!!! The personal margarita pizza. No questions. Just get it!!!! Pesto instead of sauce!! Topped with tons of cheese and tomato slices!! I cant even!!! I've never had anything like it!!!!!! The atmosphere in here is amazing!! The staff is happy to be here and all have smiles on their face!!! When the owners take care of their employee, it shows in their work ethic!! Amazing staff!!!

Great spot for a quick bite to eat. I really liked the option to have personal sized pizza, it was perfect for just one. I ordered the grilled chicken pizza , personal size and then a Cesar salad on the side. It was great!

I came with my family to watch the Texans game. Halfway through us watching the game some lady in charge of the TV named "Lilly" said she couldn't please everybody and was very unprofessional when I brought my concern to her attention. This place isn't cheap for her to be very rude. I wil never come here again for any game!!

An H-Town staple for local pizza. A must have if you have not yet! The ambience is excellent for dining with friends or family. Great place to watch games! The service is Always on point with experienced staff!

We have always loved Spanky's. I think it's some of the best pizza in Houston but lately the pizza has not been great, it definitely has gone down hill. Not sure if they changed up their recipe or if it's the folks in the kitchen, but the past few times I've ordered, the dough on the NY style was undercooked. It was raw, soft and chewy. The crust was the best part but now it's served doughy, raw and flavorless. What a disappointment.

Absolutely love this place! Not quite the original, but the food is just as good! Remember coming in as a kid to the original building and it was always so gooooood!! This place doesn't disappoint! The wait at lunch time was about 15-20 minutes but it was worth it! The pizza was great our eyes were bigger than out stomachs so a small would have been enough for both of us as we took more than half of the medium home! The service was great, my only complaint is that it's terribly cold in there! I get it the ovens the people the drinks it would get warm real quick, so bring a lite jacket and you'll be fine!

The Deep dish super duper is everyfreaking thing !! Just soooo good plenty of toppings it's a heavy pizza !! Haven't tried stuffed crust yet but will soon ! This pizza is a true treat for us we don't get it often oh but when we do it's on !!! lol enjoy ! You won't regret it !!

Today we had the large pepperoni passion with added Italian sausage and it was delicious. We also had the jalapeño and onion ring appetizer but honestly I'm not too fond of the onion rings because they are so thin and the onion comes out when you bite into it. Our server was great the ambiance is casual and this establishment stays very busy. It's clean for the most part the cleaning staff is on the ball quickly cleaning tables and floors making it ready for the next guests. It is somewhat loud but tolerable. This is close enough to Chicago pizza for me. The salads are fresh and large enough for more than one person. Everything we have had here is great and I do recommend coming to try it out yourself. We try to get something different every visit and are always full and happy with our choices. The sweet tea here is also great with all the refills you can drink. Awesome job by everyone on staff including managers.

Listen, this review is about the pizza and the pizza only! When I tell you spanky's has some of the best pizza in Houston that is exactly what I mean!! I first found out about spanky's on DoorDash we ordered the super duper with stuffed crust and it was absolutely amazing! It had tons of meat, it was fresh, it was hot and delicious!! We ordered it again a couple of weeks later thinking that there is no way this pizza is going to be as good as it was the first time and it was!! They are a must try if you are going to be in the vicinity of hobby airport this one on telephone road is a must stop by and try. You will not be disappointed. I'll be back super duper soon! Can't speak on the ambience, but they must be doing something right because the parking lot stays packed.

I have been looking for a pasta place for a long time. I can honestly say I found my new favorite restaurant. I just had mouth surgery any this was made with love and perfection. I got the three meatballs with mozzarella and the Chicken Alfredo. It was simply delicious. Portion sizes are huge and definitely affordable. Can't wait to order here again.

Pkasters! You know what I'm going to say. No. Not close to NYC style. Too doughy. BUT the pizza was delicious. The ingredients was fresh on my cheese and spinach pie. I like the inside as well. They have good pizza. I prefer it over many other local places and it's always hot when it arrives. They should offer French fries because that's all the menu is missing. No complaints. The veggie lasagna is always a hit!

Born and raised on Spankys but the last 5 times ( didn't want to give up on yalll) our pizza has been ABSOLUTELY CRAP! The pizza is raw or completely burnt! Never thought I'd say this but yall have lost a customer forever.

Spanky's serves up some heaping big sandwiches! Dropped by for a birthday celebratory lunch and ordered a Stromboli club. That thing was huge and filled with copious amounts of meats. Other members of my party had the individual lunch pizzas, custom made to order and bigger than most mini pizzas. The food was fresh and hot and the servers fast and personable. Who could ask for more? Not me, I had to take home leftovers!

This was an excellent choice! My salad was missing but the pizza and chicken fingers w/ fries were A1! They have great ranch.

For those that won't read my whole review: Eat here and get some pizza for crying out loud! I've been coming here for a while now with my girlfriend and it is consistently a hit. It's always packed on the weekends (for a good reason) but the wait usually isn't too bad, definitely worth it. You walk in and it's somewhat like a sports bar mixed with a family pizzeria. There's lots of seating and TVs everywhere so you can watch all the sporting events. The staff is always very friendly and helpful! The restaurant has been fairly clean every time we come as well. We ALWAYS get the New York style pizza, half chicken alfredo and half pepperoni, spinach, and pineapple. This time we got it with stuffed crust (yeah they got that here) and it was good to try but it was kind of heavy; we're going to stick to the regular crust but I'm glad we tried it. The chicken alfredo here is my favorite pizza of all time. The moment I take a bit of that pizza, all my worries disappear, not even exaggerating. The mixture of all the flavors are perfectly balanced with just the right texture. The drinks here are pretty good too, they're strong and flavorful. Overall, Spanky's Pizza is definitely a top contender for my choice as a last meal. If you haven't eaten here then I'm sorry for your loss...it's an investment on your happiness. (I meant to take a picture of the whole pie but I was too busy devouring it and forgot so here's a picture of my last slice, which probably only lasted 10 seconds on my plate)

the managers let go one of the best bartender and added a server to bartende on Thursday now... he is horrible as one... not a people person.. my husband and I had Thursday date night and now we will change it to Friday nights... Justin is horrible, keep him as a server and bring Chrizetta back...

Every time we come here we get the best service and the best pizza in town. It is warm friendly and laid back. Chriszetta, our favorite bartender is fantastic in every aspect. I love the atmosphere and the music is always perfect. Great place for pizza and beers.

Good pizza and fun spot. The super duper is similar to the supreme, we ordered the NY style but thought it was supposed to be thin and came out poofy like Pizza Hut's. We ordered the small which was enough for two people, maybe even four people if you order sides. The baked spaghetti is pretty good, and the chili cheese fries were standard and a huge portion. The fried mushrooms were also good, everything was made fresh. I'd come back here for the options and variety that they have compared to large chain pizza places. Take out orders were pretty fast on a Sunday.

If you want a great place for pizza and wings, you gotta visit Spanky's. I honestly have been coming here since my early teens, and still, they are doing it. You have to realize people are hard to please regardless of the type of food, especially in Houston, so for thus establishment being open for so long has to show that the food is worth it. I always go to the 610 and Telephone location, aka Original, and there is another one in Pasadena, which they opened up a few years back. If you're in the area and craving pizza, give Spanky's a try.

The establishment's decorations and it's environment is a 5/5. My team and I (8 people total) were greeted by a waitress and guided us to a table in the middle. We were then asked for drinks but all of us got water. The menu is on a QR code on the table so you can use your mobile device. We got three pizzas: margarita, chicken Alfredo, and super duper. All hand tossed. The margarita pizza was ok in my opinion. 3/5 overall. Ooey stretchy cheese was great I almost choked. Didn't really taste much that differentiates from a regular cheese pizza. The chicken alfredo pizza was good. 4/5 literally chicken alfredo without the pasta on top of pizza. Although my team didn't eat most of it I finished it for them. The super duper pizza was good. 4/5 it's similar to a supreme pizza and it's heavy on every distinct flavor Overall, 4/5. Would I go again with my team or friends/family? Next time this place is recommended because I did not try most of the menu.

What a fun place to enjoy dinner while we are visiting Houston! Spanky's has a great menu with a variety of selections to choose from. I enjoyed one of the best salads I've had in a very long time (Greek salad with chicken). My family really enjoyed their meal too. We went on a Friday night and it happened to be St Patrick's day, but we only had to wait about 10 mins for a table. The service was great and friendly! The breadstick and fries were a little bland but everything else was delicious! It's a little noisy in the restaurant but it was a fun dinner! Also, we asked for avocado but they don't carry it.

Went here last Saturday and had a great time at the bar with friends. Bar staff was pleasant, drinks were good. I had the Philly cheesesteak and my friends had the pizza. Pizza was definitely tasty and full of meat. The sauce was perfect because it wasn't overly saucy. Will definitely be back as I signed up with their rewards program.

I travel a lot. Been all over the place. I eat out a great deal and rarely take the time to do this. Truth is most of the time there's something bad to say and I'm just not into it. This good was so good here we are. And got here fast so I thought oh no. I'm here to tell they aren't messing around. Can't even eat it all. Can't wait to come back down here. The deep dish is like nostalgic to me. It reminds me of the personal pan Pizza Hut pizzas back in the day! Love it ! We do a deep dish supreme and a thin crust pepperoni every time. It's our go to pizza place for sure !

Ended my workday here with some friends from work and the drinks were on point! The pineapple margarita it's DELICIOUS! The wings are to great and of course you know the pizza is everything! This place stays packed and the staff is always ready and waiting to keep you full of food, drinks, and fun! My favorites are All the Meats and the Margherita pizza; stop by here you won't be disappointed!

The service is usually good, even on a busy night. The food is good! Spanky's is a family favorite!!'
