"Speak Cheezy is our favorite pizza place in Long Beach that isn’t named Little Coyote. Their crust is a gorgeous cross between sourdough and New York-style, with a brittle crispness along the bottom and those leopard-spotted ends we know and love. The greatest pie in the house is the LBC, a classic cheese pizza topped with fennel sausage, pepperoni cups, and cute little dollops of ricotta for a bit of creaminess. They also have some Jersey-style bar pizza on the menu, which is so thin it’s mostly just a crunchy vessel for whatever toppings you want. With just a few bistro tables inside, Speak Cheezy makes for an exciting (but low-key) lunch move, or a to-go spot that you can brag about to anyone who will listen. "The crust at this slightly cheffy pizza spot is a gorgeous cross between sourdough and New York style, with a crackly crunch along the bottom and those leopard-spotted ends we know and love. The greatest pie in the house is the LBC, a classic cheese pizza topped with fennel sausage, pepperoni cups, and cute little dollops of ricotta for a bit of creaminess. They also have a thin, foldable bar pizza on the menu called The Heights which is so crispy it’s suggested you eat it hot from the oven rather than taking it to-go. With just a few bistro tables inside, Speak Cheezy makes for an exciting (but low-key) lunch move, or a takeout spot you can brag about to anyone who will listen." - Nikko Duren
"Longtime mobile pizza van owner Jason Winters found a permanent home for his sourdough, double-baked pizzas in Long Beach. Expect pizzas to come out quickly with a charred, crackly crust. The menu features the classics alongside noteworthy toppings like ranch chicken and spinach with za’atar and feta salsa verde."
"Speak Cheezy has soft-opened in Long Beach. The one-time pop-up turned actual restaurant at 3950 E. 4th Street had a gangbusters opening weekend, and is now keeping hours from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday for walk-ins only. Expect naturally-leavened sourdough pizzas from chef Jason Winters at the Belmont Heights restaurant, complete with blistered edges from the 800-degree oven. Menu options include a classic margherita or pepperoni take, as well as more unique takes like the Shroomsday Button with local oyster mushrooms and a white wine cream sauce." - Farley Elliott
"In Long Beach, Speak Cheezy is almost ready to serve. The Long Beach Post profiles Jason Winters, owner of the incoming Belmont Heights operation, on his journey from nomadic pizza operator to part of the city’s growing food scene." - Farley Elliott
