WOW. I can even review my Alma Mater on Yelp.
I graduated from Spelman a little while ago (not in the 2000's, but not when Jesus was still alive, either). To be very frank, I didn't always like Spelman. I felt like I didn't fit in, and I didn't have a whole slew of friends (I have some accountability here, some of my isolation was self imposed).
As a grown woman, though, I now look back on my education and realize what Spelman was trying to do, and greatly appreciate it. I've also attended PWI's and there are things that I learned at Spelman that I'm sure I wouldn't have learned anywhere else. Those freshman orientation, ADW, and Sophomore Assembly classes, the convocations - yes I will be honest, I giggled and snickered while attending them, and thought they were a joke. NOW I GET IT, and I do appreciate those classes.
If you are thinking about attending Spelman - go. It's worth it. Not to mention Spelman is one of the top ranked schools in many different categories (HBCU's, Women's colleges, private colleges, etc.).
If I could do it all over again, I would.
Make sure you get all you can out of the experience.
