Long-standing, tavern-like steakhouse for surf 'n' turf, a long wine list & a salad bar.
"Sperry’s is the grande dame of Nashville steakhouses. The original in Belle Meade has been around for 50 years, and just about every Nashville native has celebrated a holiday, anniversary, or their meemaw’s birthday here. There’s a lot of history, and it’s plastered all over the walls in framed photos, letters from historical figures, and newspaper clippings. And while there are probably better steaks and sides in the city, the atmosphere—with its old-school waiters in bow-ties, pre-dinner salad bar, and flashy bananas foster flambéd tableside—feels like another place and time. "Sperry’s Restaurant is a bona fide Belle Meade classic, serving steaks, prime rib, and bacon-wrapped filets stuffed with blue cheese for five decades (the restaurant also has a sibling in Cool Springs). Nostalgia adds a certain seasoning here, though it’s not the only reason to come. Be prepared for a crowd at the salad bar (get that green goddess dressing), and don’t miss the bananas Foster — prepared tableside, of course. You can also take home prepared foods, house seasonings, meat from the butcher, and other groceries from Sperry’s Mercantile next door." - Jackie Gutierrez-Jones, Eater Staff
"From the moment you walk through the double doors at Sperry’s, you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to an elegant, old-school dining room in someone’s home (one that lines Belle Meade Boulevard, perhaps?). Expect standard steakhouse fare like filet Oskar or a bone-in ribeye, with a collection of sauces and sides to add on. Don’t skip the appetizer menu here, a trip to the salad bar and an order of filet tips over stone ground grits makes an excellent meal. The showstopping tableside bananas foster is a meal-ending favorite here." - Kellie Walton
"Sperry’s Belle Meade received a citation from the Metro Public Health Department for being out of compliance with coronavirus-related public health orders." - Delia Jo Ramsey
"Both Belle Meade and Cool Springs locations open at 50% capacity. Reservations recommended." - Delia Jo Ramsey
