We dined at Spice Affair in Los Angeles with a party of four, hoping for an exceptional Indian cuisine experience. Unfortunately, the visit was a mixed bag.
We started with the Dahi Kabab, which was underwhelming and lacked the expected flavor and creaminess. For the main course, we had Dal Makhani and Karahi Paneer. The Dal Makhani was just average, neither disappointing nor impressive. The Karahi Paneer fared better, offering balanced flavors and well-cooked paneer, making it a decent choice.
The meal's highlight was the Gulab Jamun, which was deliciously sweet and spongy, providing a satisfying end to our dinner. However, the overall food quality did not justify the high prices. The restaurant is a bit overpriced for what it offers, especially considering the average quality of most dishes.
The ambience at Spice Affair is good, with a touch of elegance that makes for a pleasant dining environment. However, it falls short of being truly up-market. Despite the mediocre food, the staff were excellent—prompt, polite, and attentive, enhancing our dining experience.
In summary, the place offers a pleasant atmosphere and great service, but the food quality and high prices are disappointing. If you do visit, the Gulab Jamun is worth trying, but overall, the experience may not meet the expectations set by the pricing.
