The Best Sichuan restaurants in Seattle | Eater Seattle

"The atmosphere at Bellevue’s Spicy PoPo Szechuan Fish is young and fun, with colorful lights and a proliferation of pandas. Order the signature Spicy PoPo and you’ll soon be greeted by a giant cauldron of swai fish swimming in broth. You can choose your level of both ma and la, then add your choice of meat and vegetables. (Beef, pork intestines, tofu skin, and lotus root are highly recommended.) You can similarly customize a dry pot, or order from a selection of Sichuan classics like cumin lamb (done two different ways), Chongqing ginger rabbit, and dried sauteed green beans. One unique dish to try: soybean paste shredded pork that you place in tofu skin wrappers." - Jay Friedman

14 Best Restaurants In Bellevue’s Bel-Red Neighborhood | Eater Seattle

"Spicy Popo Szechuan Fish is the most recent addition in the Bel-Red corridor to specialize in shui zhu yu, Sichuan boiled fish filets floating in a sauce rich with chili peppers, garlic, and Sichuan peppercorn. Located in Bellevue Marketplace between 85C Bakery and Pho Tai, Spicy Popo offers customizable versions of dry pot combinations and about 40 other classic Sichuan dishes. Google
Spicy PoPo Szechuan Restaurant earns a well-deserved 4 out of 5 stars for its bold, authentic flavors and masterful execution of traditional Sichuan cuisine. This is a spot where spice lovers will find themselves right at home, and where the tingling “málà” sensation perfectly captures the essence of Chengdu-style cooking. Ambiance: 4/5 The atmosphere is warm and casual with a hint of sophistication — a great place for both casual dinners and small gatherings. The décor is minimal yet inviting, focusing the attention squarely on what matters most: the food. Authenticity: 5/5 This restaurant stays true to the heart of Sichuan cooking. From the numbing peppercorn aroma that greets you at the door to the balanced layering of spice, salt, and heat, it’s clear the chefs know their craft. It’s rare to find such faithful Sichuan flavors this far from China. Flavor: 5/5 The spicy fish — their signature dish — is the star of the menu. Tender, flaky fillets simmer in a deep, aromatic broth that perfectly combines spice, umami, and a satisfying numbness. The balance between chili oil and peppercorn is impeccable — fiery but never overwhelming. Every bite lingers with a gentle buzz that true Sichuan fans crave. Service: 4/5 Attentive and efficient, the staff are familiar with the menu and quick to offer suggestions for spice levels and popular pairings. Despite being busy during dinner rush, they managed the tables well without compromising hospitality. Cost: 3.5/5 Prices lean toward the higher end, which is common for authentic, well-prepared Sichuan cuisine in Seattle. However, the quality of ingredients and flavor depth more than justify the cost. Final Verdict: Spicy PoPo Szechuan Restaurant delivers the kind of authenticity that’s hard to come by — bold, flavorful, and unapologetically spicy. It’s a must-visit for those craving true Sichuan-style fish and the signature “málà” experience that defines one of China’s most beloved regional cuisines.

I recently visited here on a local friend’s recommendation, and it was a surprisingly delightful experience. The star of the show was undoubtedly the Sichuan Peppercorn Stone Pot Fish. I was initially worried about the fish having a lot of bones, but it was perfectly prepared, with no small bones at all. This allowed me to fully savor the authentic flavors of the soup—the fragrant, numbing spice of the peppercorns—without having to worry about picking out bones. It was a fantastic dining experience from start to finish. Beyond the signature dish, the Mapo Tofu also left a deep impression. The intense aroma and spicy kick were incredibly satisfying and made it an excellent pairing with a bowl of rice. The Spicy Fried Pork Intestine was another unexpected highlight. The pork intestine was perfectly fried to a crispy texture, which added a wonderful layer of crunch without any greasiness. The flavors of all the dishes were truly top-notch. The only minor letdown was the large table, which didn't have a lazy Susan, so we had to frequently switch dishes to let everyone try everything. I would highly recommend the restaurant consider adding a traditional Chinese round table with a lazy Susan to make the dining experience even more perfect. Overall, every dish at La Po Po was flawless, from the preparation to the flavors. It's a restaurant I would definitely visit again and highly recommend to anyone who loves spicy food.

My son is a spicy food lover. After tried this place, it has become my son’s favorite restaurants around Seattle area. The foods here were delicious, and the portions were generous, offering great value for the quality. Our favorite dish is House Special Szechuan dish. Today we tried something new. Pork with bamboo and spicy beef trio were great. Highly recommend!

Spicy Popo - A Flavorful Dive into Szechuan Cuisine If you're craving authentic Szechuan Chinese food, Spicy Popo is the spot to hit. The restaurant offers a bold, flavorful menu that is sure to satisfy your taste buds. The spicy cucumber dish is a standout, perfectly pairing with their crispy popcorn chicken – the crunch and heat are a perfect balance. We tried a few dishes, and each one brought something unique to the table. The flavors are vibrant and the spice level is just right for those who enjoy a little kick. The restaurant itself has a fun, quirky decor that adds to the experience without feeling over the top. Even sitting near the door, we found the atmosphere comfortable, though it can get a bit chilly when people come and go. As for the service, it’s attentive, and they offer a refreshing touch of lemon in the water – a small but appreciated detail. If you're looking for a great lunch spot with plenty of flavor, Spicy Popo definitely delivers!

Google
It's on a lot of lists for best Chinese restaurants. Even from those who hate the east side. Well deserved as the broth is rich in flavorful oils, with perfectly cooked fish. Recommend bringing at least 3-4 people. The pork intestines are not my preference being coated in a sweet and sour sauce but makes it more approachable. I recommend level 1/1 for spicy and numbing for first time here.

Google
Vibe: check; food: yummy, good portion; service: good. The place has a variety of options to select from with available customizations in terms of spice levels and ingredients. Slightly on the expensive end, good portion size served. The only complaint: their dry pot menu misses 2 vital non-veg proteins: chicken and fish fillet. Loved their veg noodles: we wanted it non-spicy yet there was no compromise in their flavor. The dry pot tasted super, well done with the spices and cooked to perfection Despite being a fish 1speciality place, they have abundant of veg toppings to choose from. They also serve freshly squeezed watermelon juice! Will definitely visit this place again to try their other delicacies, specifically their fish in chilli oil.

A spicy haven for impressive and tingly fares. I came here for a friend's birthday was happy enough that I brought my visiting sister when she was craving spicy food. It was a hit, even though she's on the picky side. She said she hasn't liked a new restaurant this much in ages. Though the ipad menu interface is a bit tricky and I wish they had more noodle options the restaurant is reliable and delicious. The chicken fried rice was a surprise standout. Very umami without being overly artificial. The fish in oil of course is the highlight, especially with all the options you can choose. They respect their string beans, it was a fantastic side dish.

Here's a simple and positive Google Maps review for the Chinese restaurant you visited: **Great Food and Flavorful Dishes!** I ordered the Tomato & Egg Stir-Fry and the Braised Chicken (Huangmenji), and both dishes were delicious! The Tomato & Egg was perfectly cooked with a nice balance of sweetness and tanginess, while the Braised Chicken was tender and full of rich flavor. The service was quick, and the portions were generous. Will definitely come back to try more dishes!

Yelp
All the food is delicious. I came to eat for the first time. My kids have come many times and said that I must come to eat at this restaurant and that I will definitely like it. It was crowded, every table was full, and I had to wait in line. For those who like to eat spicy food, you definitely won't be disappointed. I like this place... Give chopsticks that are very long. Can pick up food around the table even though I came with 8 people and got a big round table. Definitely come back again...

Yelp
Came here for Wednesday dinner. My wife and son don't eat any spicy food so the witness was nice enough to let us know before hand that they do have a lot of dishes that are non spicy or some their spicy dish can be made to non spicy. Their beef fried rice was my favorite fried rice in all of east side. They give you decent amount of beef for the price of the fried rice. We also got moo Shu pork, I had no idea what this dish is but it's soooo good! The egg, pork, cucumber, carrot and woodear makes it soooo yummy with the sauce. Perfect dish along side a bowl of rice. Last we order the pork with sweet tomato sauce and this is a must for kids. My 3 year old son almost devoured the whole plate. Service: all the staff that I interacted with was extremely nice to my family. Definitely come here and try their dish! Will be back here soon!

Yelp
We got the House Special, which came with 2 meat and 2 veggies (beef, spam, bean curd and enoki mushroom) for $44.99. 水煮鱼 taste is pretty authentic, close to what I had in China. You can also choose the spicy and numbness level from 1-3. We also got 孜然羊肉 cumin lamb (delicious, slightly sweet) and 干煸四季豆 dried sauteed green beans, both of which I recommend. Service is decent for a Chinese restaurant. We wanted to change something on the order, and the waiter just communicated directly with the kitchen since it can't be changed on the iPad. Water refill was offered.

Yelp
Spicy Popo Schzhuan is in the complex with Asian market, Redmond. Parking: plenty, but kinda hard to find one during weekend, and dinner time. Restaurant is spacious and clean. Fast service. Has restroom. We ordered: House specisl spicy popo schzhuan fish with sliced beef, and 2 veggies. It comes with a choice of 2 meats and 2 veggies. Mild spice level. Dry sautéed greenbean Popcorn chicken We kinda like the dishes even though we are not a fan or numbing pepper and schzhuan hot oil taste.

Monika C.

Yelp
Good was great with huge portions. Service was fine, though you order off a tablet. I do wish it was spicier (we ordered a 3 and the 8 year old could eat it) and next time I'll do less numbing (chose 2, should have gotten a 1). The decor itself is amazing. Super trendy!
google avatar

Ann T.

Yelp
Delicious flavors and a lot of variety. Everything is priced reasonably and the quantity is a good amount in each dish. I like how you can order without spicy if you wanted to! 3 big round tables for large parties was very useful

Yelp
Went here for dinner on a weeknight. The decor is modern and welcoming, giving it an Asian pop culture vibe. The service is friendly and prompt. You order using the tablet at the table where you can see pictures and descriptions of the dishes. I ordered the smashed cucumber salad, sweetened green jasmine tea and the spicy dry pot with lotus root, mushroom, cabbage, and shrimp with a side of white rice. Since I enjoy spicy food, I got the spice level 3 (highest) and the numbing level 1. The dry pot was flavorful, and maybe I'll try numbing level 2 next time! The food came out quickly. The portions are generous and the cucumber salad was the perfect cool accompaniment to the spicy dry pot. I was glad I'd read reviews and ordered the rice, because the dry pot can get a bit salty on the palate. The tea was good to sip with the spicy food. If you're looking for spicy Sichuan food in Bellevue, give this place a shot!

Yelp
Takeout took around 20 mins, eggplant was very good, cucumber was okay. The main dish was also great, numbing spicy but wasn't too strong. We did level 2 spiciness and numbing. For the extra ingredients, unsure how they measure the quantity. Was missing lotus we've ordered. Had much more potatoes than bean curds or napa or mushrooms.
google avatar

Yelp
This spot is good for large parties and easily sat our group of 10 people. We did make a reservation as it was a Saturday night and were seated quickly after arrival. Not sure if a reservation was absolutely necessary, but I like not having to wait. All the food we tried was great! My fave dishes were the house special szechuan fish (of course), oyster sauce eggplant, and the cucumber salad.

Yelp
I recently had the pleasure of trying the spicy drypot at this restaurant, and it did not disappoint! The dish was packed with bold and spicy flavors that were simply irresistible. The heat level was definitely on the high side, so be prepared to feel the burn - but for spice lovers like myself, this was a real treat. While the dish is not strictly vegetarian, I was pleased to find that it did have some great veggie options, which was a nice bonus. However, even if you're a meat eater, the spicy drypot is definitely worth a try. I thought the food was a bit salty for my taste, it paired well with rice to balance out the flavors The portion size was quite large, easily enough to share between a group of 3-4 people. And despite the generous serving size, the price was still quite reasonable. I also loved the fun and funky neon sign decorations throughout the restaurant, which made for a great ambiance and fun photo opportunities. Overall, if you're a fan of spicy food, the spicy drypot at this restaurant is definitely worth a visit. It's flavorful, filling, and a real standout dish that will leave your taste buds tingling with pleasure

Yelp
Some friends and I tried Spicy PoPo Szechuan Fish for the first time the other day, and let me tell you, it was everything we had hoped for and more! I'm still thinking about it days later! Eating the left overs two days in a row isn't enough, I need to go back asap! The food was fantastic, everything you hope for at a Sichuan restaurant, but more! Their speciality dragon platters are a must have, but the other dishes were so delicious as well! Besides the dragon fish platter, we got mostly veggie dishes like cabbage, green beans, lotus root, cucumber, and also mapo tofu, it was all so delicious and a delight to the senses. The service was quick and to the point as expected, I always appreciate that at Sichuan restaurants, and the ambiance was fun and unexpected, which is also a plus in my opinion, I can't even describe it, all I remember is they had a cool lamp made of Porsche license plates! If you like fun and Sichuan food, this is the place for you!

Yelp
As soon as you walk in, the smells makes you start salivating. Its customizable to your liking based on ingredients, spice level, numbness level. Decent speed. Easy to order. Only thing is that it's on the salty side so get lots of rice.
google avatar

Yelp
Usually a Chinese restaurant has sticky or oily floor. But this place is not. Comfortable seat and clean table and environment. But don't expect they have high quality of service like Din Tai Fung. They are famous for the spicy fish and other spicy dry pot items. Most of the dishes are pretty strong flavored and mostly are salty and oily. I would recommend to ask for lower oil and salt level so make it a bit healthier. The spicy of Zichuang is just about spicy, also you want the numbing flavor too. Most of spicy dishes here are numbing and spicy. Even tho you ask for the most spicy, it doesn't go to a crazy level. Unfortunately I didn't see beer on the menu. It would be great if they serve alcohol because that would be the best combination for experience.

Yelp
Food is good. This review is for takeout. Normally eat in store. However, during check out, I was wondering where the tip section was when checking out. Noticed they charge automatically. Don't get me wrong, definitely tip when eating or taking out. However charging without any notification, I don't think that is a very pleasant experience.

Yelp
Delicious new spot in Bellevue for spicy food lovers! The dry hotpot was super flavorful. You can adjust your spicy and numbing level. I wish they had a bit more variety of ingredients. They also messed up our order by skipping an ingredient but when we pointed it out they took our food back and fixed it immediately. I would come back to try the fish.

David P.

Yelp
It is fairly authentic Szechuan food. Overall pretty good, but somewhat hit or miss as we had one mediocre dish. We ordered the house special fish and 黄牛肉 yellow beef which were both solid. What's very cool about this restaurant is that you can not only customize the level of spice, but also the level of mouth numbingness (麻). We ordered moderately spicy and it was MUCH less spicy than real Szechuan food, so if you're a real spice lover, don't hesitate to select the spiciest option. We also ordered a 上汤豆苗 (not pictured, a dish with bean sprouts in what's supposed to be a rich soup) but the soup was watery. The service was pretty good and they even gave us free ice cream for the toddler. We will probably come back again since it's better value for money than some of the slightly more expensive places in Seattle Chinatown which have similar quality. After 20% tip the total was $110 for two adults and a kid (with some leftovers).

Yelp
service: 10/10, the people working here are quick at their job and are always hospitable despite the busy rush. servers come around to refill waters and give napkins occasionally, which is pretty nice! the people here mainly speak mandarin and cantonese, so that's a plus. food: whenever we're in the seattle area, stopping by Spicy PoPo for their house special szechuan fish is a must. in addition to the tender fish, you can select your preferred numbing and spice levels, and they include 2 complimentary toppings as well. we usually go with the lamb and the rice noodles, but this time we also added the quail eggs, seaweed, and bean curd since we were feeding a table of six. i would skip on the fried rice and pig ears the next time, as the pig ear portions was quite small and they were only lightly seasoned. as for the fried rice, it was well seasoned, but nothing too special to note about it. ambiance: the seating and lighting feels very trendy and clean, which i appreciated! my favorite feature of the whole place is the cool light wall and license plate wall they have. all in all, if you're in the area and craving some spicy, comforting food, Spicy PoPo is the place for you.

Yelp
Spicy. Be ready. It'll stay with you. Never had this type of Chinese before and I'd definitely come back.
google avatar

Lisa C.

Yelp
The hot pot is definitely the way to go for the first visit. My friend and I can take spicy but 2 star was the right choice. I can't imagine 5 star! The flavor was addicting and all the ingredients were delicious. We chose beef and fish. The service was very good and explained how it all worked and provided good recommendations. Will definitely go back.

Yelp
I am a fan of Szechuan food so I was excited to give this place a try. I'm okay with having tried this place but not exactly excited to come back again anytime soon cause it is average compared to other Szechuan food that I've had in the Seattle area. 1. House Special Szechuan Fish ($45 + 3.50 for napa cabbage)--Love the presentation on this. Every table had one of these. It could be a meal for 2 people with a bowl of rice but wouldn't feed 3-4 people on its own. Numbing spice level can be customized which is nice 2. Dried sauteed string beans ($15)--I have had better versions of this. The beans were not as dry and crisp as I expected and portion size was small 3. Spam fried rice ($12)--Bland, boring. Split amongst 4 people, we all got half a small bowl of fried rice. I rather just have gotten extra bowls of white rice. 4. White rice ($2/bowl)--Necessary

Yelp
Their numbing, spicy soup never fails to make me feel comforted. They have a very generous amount of tender pieces of fish in a delicious broth. We nearly finished all the broth because we just couldn't help it. Definitely a massive portion though, bring a couple people to share or just buy one for meal prep for the week honestly. I'm considering doing that now because DAMN that was delicious

Yelp
This review is only for my experience with getting delivery and to serve as a reminder for myself. I will update once I am able to eat in person. I'm hoping to go in person sometime soon and actually try the spicy fish dishes. - Spicy fried chicken: pretty good, very spicy, but not particularly noteworthy - Mapo tofu: very spicy/numbing, also heavy on ginger - Twice cooked pork belly: pretty good, also decently spicy - Garlic pea vines: good, but mainly just meets expectations

Yelp
Chinese restaurant at Crossroads area in the plaza of the Asian Family Mart. As the name indicates, they specialize in Szechuan and spicy dishes. They have a signature fish that we saw quite a few people getting takeouts of. Small to mid size restaurant. Went there in the afternoon during the off hours on a weekend day, and they were a few customers inside. We didn't try to the signature fish, but got a few things on the menu. Got the pepper stir fried ribs, a clay pot duck dish, stir fried mustard greens, and cumin lamb fried rice. The ribs had a lot of dried red pepper but wasn't super spicy. The clay pot duck and mustard greens were pretty good. Lastly, the cumin lamb fried rice had the expected cumin flavor. Was curious what fried rice with the cumin lamb flavor would be like, and it went down pretty easy. Overall, solid meal. Might come back to try their signature fish.

Yelp
The food is so good. Highly recommend getting the sichuan boiled fish. It's amazing. The other dishes are good too. We enjoyed the tomato egg drop soup with dough and the various vegetable dishes. The service here is super friendly as well. They are really accommodating. The restaurant vibe is great. No complaints at all
google avatar

Christine V.

Yelp
Holy cow. Delicious fish and massive portions. Would definitely recommend tackling the dish with 3-4 people. We ordered the cucumbers and eggplant to go with the dish and they did not disappoint. We do wish rice were included and not as an a la carte item. Will be back!
google avatar

Louise F.

Yelp
Love sichuan food and this place looked both authentic and so yummy. Seems like fish is they're specialty but we weren't feeling it so Ill have to come back another time for that! For the sake of variety, we got both a dry pot of lamb, lotus, tripe, enoki, and bean sprouts as well as a pork rib with cilantro dish (飘香排骨). It was a great amount of food for 2 people. Both were delicious but I especially liked the pork rib. Pretty sure we could've closed our eyes and pointed to anything on the menu and would've been happy with it
google avatar

Wenqi Z.

Yelp
This was one of the best meals I've hah since moving to Seattle. Granted I haven't tried many restaurants yet, but this place is solid and authentic. I and my friend got the house special fish with lamb, intestine, enoki mushroom and Napa cabbage. The lamb was just okay but the other three ingredients were delicious. The mushroom and cabbage perfectly soaked in the flavor of the soup. The intestines were probably marinated beforehand and had lots of flavor. I'm already planning my next visit to this restaurant, 10/10 will highly recommend!
google avatar

Roald M.

Yelp
Very authentic in flavor, decor, and experience. Reminds me (in the best possible way) of a standard spicy fish restaurant in a mall in China. We had the sour pickle fish 酸菜鱼 with double beef and napa 大白菜, along with an order of beef fried rice for the kiddo, since it's one of the few menu items that isn't default spicy. The staff informed us that they could also modify the lamb fried rice to be non-spicy. Great, satisfying fish, with just the right amount of 酸辣 flavor, especially in this cold weather. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Thank you Yelp for the suggestion! This restaurant is located in the Bellevue Market area near the Asian Family Market. It filled up pretty quickly on a Tuesday evening so I'm sure it's usually full on weekends. We ordered the Spicy Sour Potato, House Special Schezuan Fish and Spicy Crawfish. The spicy sour potato was such a unique experience. It was as if the potatoes were very lightly blanched and marinated with chillies. It was really good! The crawfish had really tiny tails, but we really liked this one. You aren't able to adjust the spiciness and numbing for this dish, so if you don't like the tingling sensation from Schezuan peppercorns, this isn't for you. One thing I really appreciated was that they provided gloves, extra napkins and a huge bowl for discarding the shells. The star of the show however was the House Special Schezuan Fish. You get to choose 2 meats and 2 veggies (pay for additional) - we selected shrimp and fish tofu as the meats and a choy, enoki and broccoli. We chose the spice level as 1 and numbing level as 0 due to the spice tolerance of our party. It was perfect. The fish was so tender and the broth was rich in flavour. It could easily be shared between 2-4 people, just make sure to order a bowl of rice for everyone. The service was fantastic with the waiter often refilling our glasses and proactively providing napkins. Pass by an ATM before heading here for a 10% discount. Overall, it was a great experience (even the leftovers were delicious) and I would hands down visit again to try some of their other dishes.
google avatar

Michelle G.

Yelp
The restaurant seemed to be busy when we walked pass by every time. Finally, we decided to give a try for lunch in the chili weather. Parking was complimentary in the plaza and we got sat right away. Since it's the first time, we asked the server how to order. Later, we ordered the hot pot for 2 and chose broth, 2 proteins and fish cake. The service was friendly and upbeat. I liked the herbal broth with chili to make my mouth numb. The food was delicious. We felt warm and satisfied when we left.
google avatar

Monica C.

Yelp
Spicy PoPo is amazing! A bit pricey. Their string beans are the best we've had. Order on iPad was simple and quick. Food came out within 10-15 mins. Love all the lights, but not as pretty when you're not sitting by them.
google avatar

Mara J.

Yelp
The service and the food were phenomenal. We got the salt and pepper chicken which is a mild flavor but I enjoyed the texture and tenderness of the chicken. We originally got the spicy fish which was great until we found out it had pork broth. The soup is only available with a pork broth which was honestly disappointing as I expected the dish to be seafood. Once telling the waiter, he told us the dry pot didn't have pork broth (as there was no soup base) and took off the $25 charge (not the cost of ingredient add ins which was ~$20 more) of the dry pot which was nice as it was our mistake for not asking about the pork broth ahead of time. Probably wouldn't go again since the fish has pork in it, but don't regret trying the dry pot once.
google avatar

Jonathan C.

Yelp
The food is authentic numbing spice Szechuan cuisine. The service is American teenager on their phone who couldn't care less. I could not order with a real person. I had to order take out from the kiosk, and could not adjust spice level on any dish. The MaPo Tofu is medium firm, unusual but still good. You cannot add pork to it. The cumin lamb was my favorite, extra spicy with with lots of flavor. You get 2 pints of hot and sour soup with a large order. Well worth it if you love the soup. Parking is easy in the large lot. Take out orders require 20 minutes of prep even on a slow evening.
google avatar

Megan S.

Yelp
We got the szechuan fish with enoki mushrooms, noodles, quail eggs, and some other additions. It was super spicy and flavorful, exceeding my expectations! There are a lot of peppercorns and chopped chili peppers in the soup, so be prepared to pick them out. Our waiter was also exceptional. He was very attentive and seemed genuinely eager to help us out. He even offered to help us take a group photo! We also got the numbing and spicy popcorn chicken, which was pretty tasty but definitely deceiving. Half of it was just red (inedible) chopped peppers and was a little disappointing. I would not order that again.
google avatar

Ceci Z.

Yelp
I have dined in and ordered take out at this place and it is my favorite Chinese restaurant in the area. I can't eat spicy food so I always pick 0 levels but the dish still taste flavorful. The beef fried rice is also a must try!

Yelp
Love this place!! I always feel like we are lacking in WA when it comes to good Szechuan options and Spicy PoPo is now my goto. The decor is pretty awkward with some sort of marine theme mismatch, but I certainly won't dock them for that because you aren't eating Szechuan for the ambiance. Parking is plenty as its located in a shopping center, and you can expect a bit of a wait during dinner hours, but they do allow you to put your name down for the waitlist (there is an Asian market and Indian market if you want to go shop while you wait). Personally I prefer the dry pot, which is a 'dry' pot of spicy numbing goodness, allowing you to DIY select (at least 5) veggies and proteins go into it. This paired with rice is a great meal for two. The Szechuan fish pot is a more soupy version of the above, which includes a very generous amount of fish and at 44.99 includes 2 additional meats and 2 veggie options (and you can add more a-la-carte. Plenty to share between a few people paired with rice. If you're looking for a side/appetizer the salt pepper chicken is like popcorn chicken and is really tasty! The chili oil cucumber is a nice refreshing side as well.

Yelp
So Delicious! I can't believe that I didn't find this place earlier! We came in on a Saturday night and it was poppin! Of course, we went with their house special boiled fish. My goodness. The fish was by far our favorite part. It was so fresh and flavorful that me and my husband were fighting for the fillet of fish with our chopsticks. (They are very generous with the amount they give, btw) In addition, you get to choose two extra proteins and two vegetables on top to go in the dish. We went with beef, quail eggs, napa cabbage, and woodear mushrooms. Of course, each person having their own bowl of rice is a must - to soak up all the broth and pair along the food. Alot of people say it's enough for 3... but it was so good that me and my husband finished everything :P Remember to bring cash as they give you a 10 percent discount!

Yelp
So good that I almost put my face in the hot Sichuan Boiled Fish.... Perfectly spicy and numbing enough for me to forget table manners ;) One of my new favorites for shui zhu yu and one of few restaurants I am reviewing on the very first visit. Upon entering they did forget to check my covid vax status...but the food later made me give 5 star anyway despite the slip up but i shoukd reduce 1 star. The portion size was massive and 3 adults were more than stuffed at end of meal. I had 2 star spicy and 2 star numbing spicy and numbing boiled hotpot with shrimp, lotus, bokchoy and cabbage. They brought it out in a hot big claypot with enough cilantro (sold on the presentation) Get your own individual rice to sop up the soup for sure. One thing i would say is this portion size makes it difficult for 2 people to order the dish...because trust me thiose thin fillet do not survive the night in the soup in the box...so plan on finishing everything there for best experience....*** request for owners to also offer a smaller portion Ambience is street foody, place is clean and our server was polite. Overall....yesss...i am coming back again.

Yelp
I'm always a enjoyer of some delicious and strong flavored Szechuan food, and Spicy PoPo was a solid option on fulfilling that craving! Went on a Saturday at 1pm and were seated promptly with no wait time. We had a variety of dishes, which I'll review down below: Huo Guo Ruo (Twice Cooked Pork): A scrumptious and fragrant entrée - though I would recommend getting this with some rice (it did lean slightly on the saltier side!). The pork itself was tender and soaked up the sauce it came in well, and the various vegetables complimented the pork well. There are whole cloves of fried garlic in the dish - they are also tender and have good flavor! Oyster Eggplant and Potatoes: This was a really tasty dish! The eggplant and potatoes were really tender - as it feels like they just easily fall apart in your mouth. The potato surprised me more since to get this type of texture you usually would have to stew it for a while. The oyster sauce really does soak into every part of the dish, giving it a strong and hearty flavor - something that I really in enjoy in this dish as the sauce just kind of caramelized on both components of the dish. Spicy PoPo clay pot: Wow, this is a massive clay pot dish that will probably take up 70% of your table! When ordering you can ask for 2 meats and 2 veggies to put in the pot - we got beef, lamb, napa, and black fungus as our options. You also get to pick how spicy and numbing you would like the dish - We also got spice level of 1 and numbing level of 2. The pot itself comes with the fish, and it is really tender! The broth - well, it really isn't a broth that you could drink by itself as it is sour, spicy, and loaded with peppercorns - was good! Strong flavor that seeps into the meats and veggies that has a hint of pickled greens flavor (they are also scattered throughout the pot). An interesting and delicious dish! Overall, spent about $99 between three people ($33 each) - although slightly a bit on the pricier side, it is still a hefty amount of food! A new addition to the Asian Family mart plaza that is pretty tasty, and I recommend you come and give Spicy PoPo Szechuan Fish a try!

Yelp
We usually come by this area to visit another restaurant, but due to the wait time for that, we were left to choose another place. This caught our eye with its bright neon signs and its bright atmosphere. We ordered the Numbing & Dry pot with a numbing of 1 and a spice of 2. My fiance and I are usually used to a ton of spice, but this actually kicked me right in the guts. Which leads me to this warning! If you are not used to eating Sichuan Pepper, DO NOT push your luck with this and go 3 spice with 3 numbing. That is unless your body is used to consuming this pepper. If its not, your body will shut down and restart itself, meaning you will be sick for a few days. Sichuan Pepper has a benefit of improving your immune system and your blood flow, but having too much at once without having this much before can literally be a numbing experience. Overall, we will come back. Just probably have the dry pot with 0 spice and 0 numbing. Good food, just numbed ourselves too much.

Yelp
Disgusting! Found a roach in the fish meal! Will never order again! Be careful when having food in this restaurant!

Yelp
These foods are really good, it is Authentic Chinese Cuisine. I can taste the flavors of home in this food.

Yelp
Stopped in here in a whim, but was pleasantly surprised and I'll be back! This is a Szechuan style restaurant who's specialty is this spicy fish pot. For $39, you can choose two proteins and two vegetables to add to this spicy pot of deliciousness that was already brimming full of fish! This special is easily enough to feed 3 people, and add a dish or two and you have dinner for 4-5 people! They offer a spicy and numbing scale to choose from, and I was very glad about this! However given this type of food is spicy by definition, we chose 0 for numbing and 1 for spicy and it was still plenty of both! I can't imagine ordering higher on the scale. That said, if you don't like spicy food, this restaurant is probably not for you. Menu had a ton of stuff on it, so can't wait to try! They offer 10% cash discount.

Yelp
Such a good spot for Sichuan cuisine. My friend and I ordered the signature Sichuan fish with beef, lamb, lotus roots, and fried tofu. The flavor was super on point and they also let you adjust the spice and numbing. Food is enough for two people. Also the decor here is super nice too.

Yelp
Spicy Popo ....no this does not mean hot police but a Chinese idiom for a spicy cooking grandma. We stopped by this new place to give them a try, and we were happily surprised by how good the food was. Their trade mark dishes are their spicy fish pots. We intended to try one, but when we say the giant size of the pot, we decided to go with just a few dishes since we had a late lunch and we're not that hungry. We ordered the stir-fried cumin lamb, and the Xinjiang Spicy Chicken. Also the garlic sauted pea vines. The chicken dish was amazingly great. Chicken leg pieces stewed in a rich brown spicy gravy, with potatoes, red onions and jalapenos. Never had anything quite like it It, was delicious. The cumin lamb was also terrific..very tender, lots of cumin and perfectly spiced. We ate about half of each dish packed the rest home for a yummy leftovers tomorrow. Five star for these dishes The pea vines were the only thing that were a bit disappointing. Not because of the flavor, but because of the age of the vines. These are best when you get the nice little tender ones. Unfortunately, these were older vines and tough, so 3 star for this dish. Overall 4 star and we will definitely come back to try their spicy fish dishes.

Yelp
I've been a regular at Spicy Popo for a few months this year and it's my favorite szechuan restaurant in Bellevue. I go here with my best friend and on some days where I can't go - I order to go but nowadays it says it temporarily close on Doordash () The serving size is insane and super filling, but not overwhelming. I always get the dry pot and check off what ingredients I want in there, and they surely have a wide variety! Make sure to get the salt and pepper chicken - after years and years of eating Taiwanese popcorn chicken, Spicy Popo definitely wins. 10/10 I believe Spicy Popo is independently owned as every time I go there - I am greeted with familiar faces and I believe after the fourth visit, they've started to recognize me. I absolutely adore this lovely restaurant and I will always come back

Yelp
We had the House Special Szechuan Fish, and it was an amazing experience. It comes in a giant bowl with dragons on the ends, and is definitely enough food for 4 people. The fish was really soft, and the soup was spicy but delicious. There was about an hour wait for dinnertime, but definitely worth it as the food was great and the interior is pretty hip (cool neon lighting decoration).

Yelp
wow. just wow. i'm so glad i got to try this place as my last meal before leaving for school. i love spicy food, and i'm not just talking about hot sauce, but the deep, numbing kind of spice that you feel in your gut, and this really hit the spot. it's customizable and has plenty of delicious veggies, enoki mushroom, plus QUAIL EGG, which i ate almost all of.
