13 Hidden Spots to Eat and Drink in Portland

"The concept of a laundromat cafe makes such perfect sense, it’s a wonder that nobody thought of it before Spin Laundry Lounge founder and owner Morgan Gary. The large, eco-friendly laundromat features an attached cafe and bar with free wifi, tv projectors playing Blazers and Timbers games, and a loft featuring arcade games and pinball machines provided by Ground Kontrol Arcade. Note: A second Spin Laundry Lounge opened in March in Sullivan’s Gulch, but does not include a full-service cafe." - Kara Stokes

Amazing place & customer service! The owner showed me around how the machines work. Thank you so much! Clean and nice place, with a cafe in the same building. Machines are working with debit/credit cards 😁👍 "only five star" due there is no six star possible 👌👕

Google
We love this laundry mat! They have complimentary homemade detergent. Great machines, good price, and ample space to hangout! Bathrooms are clean. They also have a coffee shop housed in the same building!

Google
Nice clean laundromat with plenty of machines, spots to sit, a cafe, and arcade machines. Bathrooms available with a code from the staff. The washing machines have a free sanitising cycle and they provide free unscented laundry powder and other paid options.

Google
Im a very very very impressed!! They have washers that can wash up to six loads of laundry for no more than 13 dollars. And HUGE big dryers that can dry 5 loads of laundry for no more than 3.00!!!! I kid you not and its on high heat I work 50hrs a week and I have been letting my laundry pile up as the laundromat at my apartment place dryers take 3 to 4 HOURS to dry a single load, I even tried drying a small load and it was the same thing lmao. Anyways I tried bridge town laundry and let them pick up my laundry and it cost me 170 including a 10.00 tip for them to wash and dry my clothes and for pick up and drop off. It was worth it yes but I was crying lmao when I got the bill. All the workers are very friendly and they keep an close eye on this place which I like. Im pleasantly surprised. This laundromat doesnt give me sketchy vibes. They have chill music soo and a lounge area with cheap bites to eat. Im shocked that I was able to wash 5 loads of laundry for under 30.00 which is wild to me! They also have stamps cards too which is cool. They also have a restroom too which im grateful for.

Google
Love this place! Has large capacity washers that you can put on a sanitary cycle before using. They keep the place clean. Spin also offers a changing service so you can start the washer then they will put it in the dryer and text you when it’s done. I love to bring my large comforters there to wash. I have been a customer for years. Never had an issue.

Google
This place is awesome! Really clean, bright, safe, cafe and bar attached, a full pinball arcade, what more could you want while you're doing your laundry? A little pricey and hard to find parking, but where isn't around here?

Kathleen Kinzler

Google
Large place with lots of machines. Attendant will give you a free scoop of detergent if you don't have any. Pay by CC on the machines. Coffee shop attached. Pinball machines upstairs. Not much seating inside and almost no parking in the very small lot. But overall a very positive laundry experience.

Google
BEST LAUNDROMAT IN OREGON, PERIOD. 1. Friendly & engaging staff on sight 2. Incredibly clean 3. All machines brand new with digital readers 4. Nearly every machine working 5. Vast selection of every size washer & dryer 6. Parking lot available 7. AMENITIES: Carts, tables, chairs, bathrooms, change machines, soap available, games to play, overhead music 8. A little more expensive but high quality 9. No sketchy people hanging around 10. Laundry service available

Yelp
Super clean place with nice staff. There are fun arcade games upstairs which helps kill the time when waiting for clothes. I brought my down comforter and they had tons of large machines to accommodate. Only feedback would be having hours past 7pm - closing at 7pm is hard for people who work until 5/6pm. Other than that will be back for sure!!

Jocelyn F.

Yelp
The person at the registers was extremely helpful ! they definitely made my experience a pleasant one ! also really clean & safe enough to go visit neighboring stores while the load was in

Yelp
Used there wash and fold service - it's been good prior at the Broadway location, this time the fold job was terrible , clothes wrinkled , and my pants are totally destroyed. I just got these! So bummed. This is not a cheap service and to have my clothes ruined is really so upsetting... hopefully they call me back to resolve.

Raymond R.

Yelp
Nice people and good work, I take my comforters in to them, wouldn't go anywhere else

Verdell B.

Yelp
Great prices and a clean environment, I would come here again and I would feel comfortable waiting for my laundry to finish here as well.

Yelp
One of the best laundromat experiences of my life. Not that that is really a tall bar but : The Good: 1. there were plenty of machines 2. The place was clean and actively being cleaned 3. There was someone there to answer dumb questions 4. The machines were inexpensive and efficient (I.e dryed a king sized weighted blanket and duvet in less than 20 mins for a dollar and change) 5. They offer a laundry service if you need one The Bad: I wish instructions for the machines were a little clearer (maybe pictures or a video). I couldn't see or didn't easily notice the bleach/ fabric reservoir. Im over 6' tall so that's a thing. Also paying with card the number of times i needed to "pay" felt absurd. Once for the wash + 25 cents + 25 cents + 25 cents + 25 cents + 25 cents + 25 cents. Dumb but it still stressed me out because the instructions did not clearly set that expectation.

Yelp
Like many other business during the pandemic, hours and strive has suffered. I used to like coming here whenever I needed to use a large washer/dryer (comforter, sleeping bag, etc). The are one of the few laundromats that offers the free sanitize cycle. This allows you to clean out the drum as needed before washing your clothes and is very convenient. In addition they have the dedicated allergy washers as well. Lately things have been really hit or miss when coming here. They aren't open during posted hours, people are unresponsive or don't know the answers to questions. It's hard to get people to come give you the free detergent. More machines that are out of service. The only reason I gave it 3 stars is that it's still one of the few places I would use if I need to use a public laundromat. It is probably more expensive than other places but how sketchy and disgusting are they? Would you actually want to wear something cleaned/dried in those machines? Do you feel safe being there? I would give Spin a try (if they are open) if the answer is no to 1 or more of those questions.

Yelp
I had to wash my down comforter so I loaded up some other things that were too big for my tiny washing machine in my apartment. I got there on a Thursday before noon and it was clean, there were available washing machines in 3 different sizes. Staff there to ask questions if you are like me and have no idea how to go to the laundromat. I was glad I got there early because it started filling up quick. Looked like some people had to wait for machines to become available although they rotated quickly. I got my bulky stuff washed and dried with no issues. I would go back.

Yelp
Great place, clean machines with classic 80s arcade games upstairs! Highly recommended

Yelp
Closes at 7 PM. Most of America has jobs and we don't want to make it a whole day event to go do laundry extend your hours for the community around you.

Kunie T.

Yelp
While traveling we stayed a vacation rental without a washer/dryer. Dreaded going to a laundromat but needed some clean clothes. Went online and found Spin. It was a spacious bright open and clean space. Happy. Even a personal laundry drop off service. Bingo! And nice staff. Highly recommend.

Yelp
I really wish I could give this place a higher rating, as I'm a regular and it's a clean laundromat in my neighborhood. There are a handful of things that make me consider searching for a different laundromat. Parking here can be tough - their lot only has room for a few cars. Service here is really hit or miss. Some attendants are friendly and kind, but some that I've gotten the free detergent from have been downright cold and I feel like an inconvenience for asking for help. One gave me free detergent but left to go to the back before filling out my punch card, and there weren't any other customers they were helping. When I had to move my laundry out of a washer that was out of order, they seemed exasperated with me. Second is their punch card system. You get one punch per wash regardless of washer size - so if I use the $4.25 2 load washer or the $10.25 6 load washer, I'd get only one punch either way. The free load you get for filling a card is only on their smallest washer. I'd recommend either letting the free load be for any size washer, or varying the number of punches you get depending on washer size. This is an expensive laundromat. I'm increasingly unwilling to pay these prices if the pricing and punchcard system isn't considered from a user standpoint. Their most recent sustainability reports are from 2015 and 2016, and I'd really love to see more recent data and how they're doing on old goals/setting new ones. Is this still a priority for the laundromat? I really hope so. One thing I appreciate about this lounge is that it pays their attendants above minimum wage, if their application online is accurate. The clock along the back wall hasn't worked since I've moved to the area. I'm rating Spin 2 stars because the place is consistently clean and has free wifi, but I wish the service and value for the cost were better. I really want to love this local cute laundromat, but from a customer standpoint I'm getting increasingly disillusioned.

Yelp
Clean and I love that they have seating for working. The prices are reasonable too, and for the 1 load of laundry I had I only needed to use 2 dryer cycles (0.25 cents/cycle, aka 6 min, for a total of $0.50). The washing was $4.50. Really, just like a dollar more expensive than what I would have paid if I had used the quarter machine in one of my old apartments. They need more parking, better instructions on the soap situation. I thought they would have it on premises (and I think they did, complimentary?), but I was super confused and accidentally borrowed someone else's detergent in one of the common areas. Maybe needs more power outlets too. But I came during an off hour, so I was able to seat myself and do a little bit of work while waiting on the super speedy laundry. My clothing was super soft after the dryer - definitely better quality than even he updated machines I had in my apt.

Yelp
I love the idea of a 'laundry lounge', but the effects of COVID and the subsequent shutdowns seem to have whittled away at resources available to sustain the establishment as it was originally intended to operate. That said, the operating machines work REALLY well, and I deeply appreciate Spin as an option. Unfortunately, the client base who uses them seems to largely abuse the technology, which leaves the more conscientious of us with few options. Each Spin location has its merits, and I certainly have my favorite staff members, but this business is an absolute good in the Portland business community. Give them a try. My best advice would be to make use of benefits including (but not limited to) the following: + Free sanitizing option for all washers (I have sensitive skin which is frequently irritated by leftover detergent from previous users); + Credit/debit card payment options for payment (in addition to coins) to use all/most machines; + An ACTUAL game arcade section within the Fremont location; + Open every day of the week; and + Knowledgeable and helpful staff on duty at all times. Check out Spin Laundry!

Yelp
I can't believe I'm not super bummed about having to go to the laundromat Bright, clean open space. Super helpful staff. Efficient machines (I think my clothes were dry in 15m) and beautiful neighborhood to walk. Was in a huge hurry to find a washer and dryer for my new house, now I can wait for a good deal
google avatar

Danny B.

Yelp
Such efficient machines! Washed and dried two extra large blankets in a single machine and in under an hour. Pleasant and helpful staff. Clean, bright, and airy space. Certainly not my parents idea of a laundromat. Don't need to use it often but when I need to, I don't mind a bit. Looking forward to the reopening of the coffee shop (inside the space before the the pandemic).
google avatar

Michelle P.

Yelp
The cleanest laundry mat I've ever been in. Clean, has parking, friendly and attentive staff. Plenty of large capacity washers and dryers to get you in and out quickly. Very well maintained. Only one machine down that we noticed.
google avatar

Craig B.

Yelp
Best laundry place! I think it's the best because of the high quality machines, they have an option to do an empty free machine clean before washing your clothes and they have a cafe with coffee, beer, wine and food and they have a lounge and WiFi to connect to that is fast! I recommend this to everybody that wants to go use a public Laundry service!
google avatar

Holli R.

Yelp
We're on a PNW road trip and stopped here to do our laundry. Nice clean atmosphere with good music and friendly staff. We enjoyed the complementary laundry soap and large washer and dryer's. Was hoping that they sold coffee here and it was more like a coffee shop and laundry mat in one, but they only had bottled drinks. Still nice though!
google avatar

L D.

Yelp
This is a crappy and rip off laundromat and a lot of the machines malfunction and don't start it they'll still take your money. And the owners are rough, good luck getting in contact with them to get your money back. What a scam.
google avatar

Rolling Along ..

Yelp
This is a very nice place. It is clean, modern, staffed by very nice people, and they have a ton of massive washing machines and dryers. Also, they provide a scent free soap for you at no cost, or you can by a specialized soap from them (waterproofing agent, etc). The machines accept credit cards, and they have various sizes of washing machine (up to an eight load capacity drum). I dumped everything in one washer, then everything in one dryer, and in about one hour, all of my laundry was done. Staff is very helpful, and works hard to help people and to keep the place clean, and to provide customers with cart, soap, etc. The surrounding neighborhood is nice to walk through, and full of boutique shops. This is a very well run business.
google avatar

Marielle B.

Yelp
Awesome environment. Clean, peaceful spot with hip vibes. Powerful wash and dry machines that are gentle on your clothes. Excellent little cafe inside. Super nice staff. And they are dog-friendly!
google avatar

Teresa M.

Yelp
I really love the wash service, I just drop off my bag of dirty clothes. I am registered to pay online so it's really convenient. I feel so lucky to have this option.
google avatar

Sammy N.

Yelp
This laundromat is great. I can QUICKLY wash and dry two loads for about $5 and they have extra big washers for bedding. My only complaint is the quality of the sandwiches. I've been coming here for a couple years and I stopped by for paninis even when I didn't have laundry to do. Over the past (about) 6 months the quality has changed, they barely put any toppings on there and (not an exaggeration) the past 6 times I've ordered food multiple ingredients were missing and I had to exchange it. Today I asked the counter staff to make sure everything was correct before running it and.. they burnt it. Mine was the only burnt one in the room... so I guess they didn't like me saying something... But I'll be back for clothes washing!
google avatar

Tee K.

Yelp
Wish they had more machines and that people did a better job of getting their clothes out of the washer/dryer. Cool arcade upstairs to entertain you while you wash and maybe for the kiddos (if you have to bring them).
google avatar

Justin H.

Yelp
Needed to wash some oversized items. The staff there was very helpful. The place was very clean and the washers and dryers work well.
google avatar

Heather S.

Yelp
What a cool place ! I wish something like this existed when I regularly needed a coin laundry service . Sustainable laundry, coffee, bar , arcade, books... this really makes an uncomfortable chore into a nice outing.

Andi L.

Yelp
A positive atmosphere/business. I have been to Fremont and Broadway locations multiple times! The people that work there really care and do a great job explaining the process! The lavender detergent that they sell there is nice and natural Unfortunate that all the cool stuff is off limits due to covid but nonetheless, great employees and washers and dryers!
google avatar

Yelp
We were on vacation, and in need of a laundromat and happened to find Spin Laundry Lounge. Believe me, no one wants to do laundry when on vacation, but Spin made it all so painless, in fact, it was rather pleasant. You can check how many washers are available before you get there, and if you buy something from the lounge, you get a free dry! There's a game room upstairs, a coffee lounge and bar downstairs. I have never imagined such a welcoming laundry place! We were in and out with clean clothes in about an hour, (seriously, i've never done laundry that fast even at home!!) Definitely an awesome way to get your stuff clean! Oh, and they are dog friendly.
google avatar

Meliza M.

Yelp
Spin laundry is super adorable! I'm not from Portland and ended up stopping by here on my vacation because I was HOT MESS... aka what kind of person throws up in their suitcase?! Anyway... TMI. This place saved me! I was hung over and their coffee and soft sofas saved me! I also didn't even have to get up because the laundry machines TEXTED ME when my load was done?! I even got a free dry because the super yelp coupon when I checked in! This place is the BEST and super convenient for those who aren't blessed with their own washer & dryer. #GOALS It's just nice that they have cafe, tables to do work, comfy chairs, and a mini arcade upstairs. Anyway.. all the locals are lucky. Come here if you're ever in the area and have a load to wash!
google avatar

Jana S.

Yelp
I will say I had no idea what to truly expect based on reviews. We went here just to check it out. Cooler than I expected in general. Late in the day the food options are sparse. I'd stick to plain coffee choice (there was a lavender one we tried that we left almost entirely untouched...blech) but the espresso was good as was the fizzy rhubarb wine. We played a few retro arcade games and enjoyed ourselves for an hour. No need to go back unless I lived in the immediate area and had laundry to do. However, if I did live in the immediate area and laundry to, I'd probably be here a lot because it would make doing my laundry waaaaaaay less boring, but I'd still stick to normal coffee choices.
google avatar

Genevieve R.

Yelp
Spin is quite a groovy laundry mat. It is kept clean and tidy and machines always work well. The cost is a little on the expensive side ($3.75 per load and up) but you get free detergent... so what the heck!! They have an adorable little lounge/café area where they serve microbrews on four rotating taps, glasses of wine, espresso drinks and baked goods. As a bonus, Spin laundry mat is set in a nice open space with a retro style arcade on the 2nd floor over looking the laundry area. Yes sir... it has pinball! The whole scenerio has a nice vibe (for lack of a better word) and both the customers and the staff are always super chill. If you're a people watcher, double bonus! Just swing by to do a few loads of laundry and you'll see what I mean;)
google avatar

Julia D.

Yelp
HELL YES. Panini and beer while my laundry does its laundry thing? Hell yes.
google avatar

Courtney O.

Yelp
I have been going to Spin for three years now, since I moved to Portland, and have always been so pleased with my experience. the owners, Anthony and Morgan, are always so kind and sweet and present for any help that I may need (which isn't too often, considering the machines are well taken-care of). I really appreciate their stamp card program, and their machines always leave my clothes so clean and wrinkle-free! the café and arcade (which are accessible pre/post-pandemic) offer such a comforting atmosphere and make me feel so welcome.
google avatar

Cynthia B.

Yelp
Awesome laundry spot! Hypo-allergenic laundry soap is complimentary...super friendly attendant, arcade and cafe to pass the time....who could ask for anything more? If you don't want to do your own laundry, you can have them do it for you!
google avatar

Michael J.

Yelp
DON'T BE FOOLED by the ability of playing video games (20 here rn, no one is up playing games. Complaints: 1. The machines take a $5.00 hold on your checking account (or CC) in addition to the sum of what the wash/dry cost. It's not a rental car- a hold?! 2. Machines are confusing and very different than any other laundry mat I've used. 3. Customer service is horrible. Guy looks at you like you're an idiot. 4. I had to swipe my card about 6 times, .25 cents at a time to get to the price I needed. 5. I have. I idea if I paid the actual price or 6 times as much. The worker said I'd have to call the management system for the washers. 6. The very not helpful guy is white, with a Boston Red Sox Cal.
google avatar

Roze N.

Yelp
Been here twice in last month and I kinda dig it. Y didnt anyone think of this before. A place where chores dont seem as bad w decent tunes, games, sweets, paninis and ur friends might actually join ya for a drink in between wash cycles. You can even text and see how many machines are avail or when urs is done. Laundry lounge...only seems right in pdx. Happy hour=comp drying. Look for Emily in the eve shift...she's super. Save a machine for meeeee!
google avatar

Anya C.

Yelp
Super clean and well maintained. Nice staff and nice clientele too based on this experience. Megan was super friendly and walked me through everything. The machines are great and I am so glad there is an option to pay card AND cash. My clothes smell fresh and clean and the dryers really work. I'm very impressed with this place and will be back. Glad to support a business with good ethics and morals too.
google avatar

Emily L.

Yelp
This is for their wash and fold service. I called and they said they had two rates. One for 24 hours and one for 48 hours. It was Tuesday at 5:45pm and I asked about wash and fold. They said the turn around is supposed to be 48 hours (which would be Thursday evening) but that I wouldn't be able to get my laundry back until Saturday. That's 4 days. Would not recommend
google avatar

Jeremy D.

Yelp
I love Spin! I drive 30 minutes from Washington because when I come here I know the washers and dryers will be clean and working, the coffee will be spectacular, and the staff will be super friendly.
google avatar

Yelp
As someone who travels non-stop for work, I've gotta say, this is the most genius idea and an absolute must for a day off. I honestly cannot believe I haven't seen a place like this yet in my travels. When you walk in, you immediately see a plethora of washers and dryers. More than enough for even when it's busy. Not only were they all clean and maintained, but they take credit/debit at the machine so you don't have to get change, they don't take much time (20 - 25 minutes), and you can get text alerts when it's done. The dryers are industrial size and have 4 different temperatures. I was able to have one giant loud of laundry done in under an hour, washed and dried, for $5.25. Plenty of space to fold when you're done. On top of that, they have a cafe with beer, wine, mimosas, coffee, and lattes. The iced black coffee I got while I waited was absolutely delicious. Near the cafe, they have a projection screen that was showing soccer, which was awesome for a couple people in our group. Upstairs, there is an arcade with a few pinball machines, table top machines, and retro arcade games. Took my time and set the high score in Frogger, by the way. Overall, this place is an absolute genius idea, and whoever helps run this place should be highly praised. I think if I lived here and had a laundry machine at home, I'd still come here to do laundry and hang.
google avatar

Jason C.

Yelp
Super cool place to do laundry and hang out. They have a nice range of beer and wine options for folks. There's also food for those wanting lunch or dinner with their laundry. The cafe area also has a projector for all your Olympics/sports watching needs. The laundry is pretty much the same cost as other places. I really appreciate their super big dryers though. Fifty pounds at once! I had an awesome experience and look forward to coming back.
google avatar

Louise G.

Yelp
Awsome-est 'mat ! Clean. Up-to-date facilities. Friendly staff. Pretty interiors. I feel like the washers are better than my "luxury apartment" washer and dryer. Fast and efficient. Cafe is good too! Far from the airport quality cafe I would've expected.
google avatar

Logan E.

Yelp
This place was great I came for the yelp event and they showed us the whole deal and they explained about how they are sustainable- helping the environment while giving you an Awesome Place to do your laundry! Would recommend to a friend!
google avatar

Candice C.

Yelp
With laundry being an essential yet dreaded task, SPIN has always felt like a calm place to take care of these chores. More like a living room or a cool communal laundry room, than the stereotypical city 'fluff-n-fold'. The machines vary in sizes which is helpful when you have a small pile or want to wash delicates. I tend to need their larger washers and find them to be a lifesaver when I haven't got far more laundry than time or patience. The owner is super kind, and they products they stock are A++ This year I'm going to be sure to bring my weatherised gear in to re-treat the gore-tex. If you want to finally slay that Laundry Cthulhu lurking in your hamper-- get over to SPIN as soon as possible! You'll feel cleaner and better for it!
google avatar

Kaleo C.

Yelp
My first day in Portland and I already had to do laundry due to some beer shattering in my suitcase coming from Hawai'i. Upon arrival I approached one of the workers whom was very friendly and walked me through their whole process. The entire place was very clean and had a definite hip and modern feel with their cool pastel color scheme throughout and lounge music on the speakers. Their cafe served some delicious special paninis and drinks with awesome local beer of course! Will definitely return again!
google avatar

Dilly D.

Yelp
Pro: Super helpful staff, fast and clean machines. Giant load washed on hot $12 and to dry cost me about $3.00 max per super large load. If you don't bring your soap they have a little natural soap for you to use for FREE. Dryer sheets come in a pair for $1.00. I bought a huge laundry bag for $10! Best laundromat I have ever utilized. Con: Not a fan of the loud music full of curse words. I'm all for it but save it for a more appropriate venue, like your car. Play some chill stuff please.
google avatar

Yelp
Adulting sucks, but adulting sucks less because of laundry date nights at Spin. My fiance and I work completely opposite schedules most of the time and our time together is precious - unfortunately a lot of that time every week is spent food shopping, doing laundry, etc. etc. but we keep coming back to Spin because 1. the staff is super friendly 2. we can leave our laundry to wash, pay 5 bucks for them to transfer it over (we've legit gone to a concert and then come back for our laundry) 3. They're open late and have happy hour (free drying if you buy something from their cafe/bar 4. They serve alcohol and have video games and there is seating/wifi so you can work if you need to. I'm not really a huge fan of the food/drink menu but I mean, they have the essentials - sandwiches, beer, coffee/tea. LOVE Spin. Thank you for existing.
google avatar

Shannon F.

Yelp
Simpson's, cold brew, centipede & a 6 load washer! Life saver when I returned from 2 weeks at the lake cabin to no washer or dryer. I could have gone to a friends house and spent the day washing clothes. Instead I was able to shove 5 loads of laundry in one machine. Price is great considering that I'm in a 6 load machine - $9.25 and that's for extra dirty and extra rinse. Great cold brew and the 9 year old is happily playing video games. There isn't a/c, as far as I can tell, so late Day during the PDX heat snap might be a bit terrible. But it's not terrible.
google avatar

Patrick M.

Yelp
Laundry, drinks, coffee - oh my! This is THE place to do your laundry in PDX. The machines are super efficient and clean. The place is very well laid out, and easy to use even as a newbie. I love their communal room with wifi, good beer & wine & coffee, to sit and relax while the laundry spins. It's my fave spot to wash my comforter or sleeping bag - as they have super large and welcoming machines of all sorts. I've been here 10 times and had a great experience each and every time.
