Spirals - Review - East Village - New York - The Infatuation

"First, there was Sunday Morning. Then, there was Benji’s Buns. And now, there’s Spirals, the third cinnamon roll bakery in lower Manhattan to open this year. The East Village bakery has classic rolls, plus a few that rotate, like a cookies and cream roll, and a savory pesto burrata number. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Willa Moore

Google
I read Eater ny and saw this place. Cinnamon rolls are dry drier and driest. It’s hard to believe there is cinnamon inside. I don’t get people’s 5 ⭐️reviews also.

Google
Just tried this new cinnamon roll bakery in my neighborhood and it did not disappoint! The rolls are huge, very fresh, moist, indulgent and just overall extremely tasty / flavorful. The team is very efficient and friendly. I've had many other specialty cinnamon rolls in the city, but Spirals stands out with their quality and all their unique flavor options. I can't wait to go back and try them all!

Pretty solid rolls! The strawberry jam tasted just like mom’s! Not too sweet. I wish it was warm though. It was pretty fresh!

Google
Spirals was very cute and the cinnamon roll was delicious. My only critique is that I wish there was an option to get a fresh one from the oven, I’d even pay extra for that! Also, having to pay for milk for my cold brew was a little silly.

Google
Gooey, flavorful, and best in the city!!! Could not recommend enough - had the strawberry and cookies & cream flavors and also got a half dozen for my coworkers. I brought a few home too and was excited to get home and take another bite of my sweet treats for days. Extremely friendly service and good vibes!

Google
I am a HUGE fan of Spirals. I have tried nearly every flavor at this point and can’t wait for the new flavor rotations to come. I highly recommend the bread pudding, but you really can’t go wrong. The service is great as well. 10/10

Google
I don’t say this lightly: these are the best cinnamon rolls I’ve ever had anywhere (and I’ve tried a lot). They’re everything you want in a roll and more: unbelievably gooey with a soft center, and every bite melts in your mouth. I’ve had cinnamon rolls across NYC and beyond, and nothing even comes close. If you think you’ve had a good cinnamon roll before, you need to try these. They set the bar and have such fun and creative flavors. Absolute best in New York, and honestly, the best I’ve had anywhere. On top of everything, the staff is so nice and welcoming!! If there’s one thing you put on your list, make it this. (And make sure you try their savory pesto & burrata!!!! My fav)

I went there before 2 o’clock today and I am an Indian guy I am from Guyana and I don’t know it’s because I am brown. There were other people in front of me and I asked for a s’mores cinnamon roll and they had one in pan, but he told me that is sold to someone already and they bought over three of the cinnamon roll it’s not good for nine dollar and how many cents I pay I supposed to be getting more. It’s very dry and it’s an ordinary cinnamon roll. Don’t waste your money on it.

Yelp
Gooey, flavorful, and best in the city!!! Got the strawberry and cookies and cream flavors and a few extra that I was enjoying for days. Must try!!

Yelp
The best cinnamon roll I have ever had! Every worker I interacted with was so friendly. Couldn't recommend this place enough!

Yelp
These rolls are absolutely incredible. Each flavor is absolutely delicious and beautiful. This is my favorite bakery in NYC!

Yelp
One of the best cinnamon rolls i've had in the city! They were gooey, and the dough and fillings were amazing. They make them fresh everyday, though you may have to wait a bit for some flavors like the original if you go early in the morning. The employees were super kind and very welcoming. I love how they have flavors of the month and switch it up every month. Today, I got the cookie dough which was AMAZING - I got it fresh so it came straight out of the oven and the sauce was nice and melted on the top, where they do a nice addition to each roll and put a pumpkin spiral to the top of each roll. Though the cinnamon rolls were kind of expensive (~$8.50) for each roll, they are definitely worth it and a nice pick me up, or treat to have once in a while! Note: not many seats inside - kind of like a mini stool area, so it's kind of like a grab and go spot!

Yelp
I wanted to love this place so much more than I did. Unfortunately for a $10 cinnamon roll, my standard is a little higher than I would expect for any other normal bakery. It is good and the flavors are delicious. However, the cinnamon roll itself in the pastry, felt a little thin and flat, and it wasn't as life-changing as some of the other cinnamon rolls in the city. It's worth trying at least once especially a seasonal flavor. The OG is something that you can find in any kind of run of the mill bakery. The highlight of the place is the cream tree is frosting. The staff is also incredibly kind and friendly.

Yelp
It's kind of expensive for one cinnamon roll (~$9), but it's a dream for all cinnamon roll lovers! They are large and fluffy, sweet but not overly sugary. I tried the original cinnamon roll and loved the cream cheese frosting. The pesto burrata roll was also surprisingly good for those who prefer a savory snack! The staff were so kind and friendly even though the small store was packed when I got there. They have creative rotating flavors.

Yelp
So lucky we were able to snag the last cinnamon roll when we went! There was a line out the door and we went a half hour before close, so the selection was picked over, but I'm so happy to see the success they're having! The staff were friendly and handling the volume of customers well. We brought our cinnamon roll back to CT and had it that night, and it held up well! Heated it up in the microwave for 15 seconds and it was perfect. Such a great concept! Next time I hope to try the cookies and cream!

Yelp
Super nice staff but for $8.50, I felt like the classic cinnamon roll was a little lacking in flavor (more cinnamon needed in the center?). I got it to go and heated it up in my apartment but even the center of the roll wasn't hitting the right spots. Good icing though!

Yelp
Came on a Sunday afternoon and there was no line. Went with the plane because others looked too sweet (aside from the pesto burrata). You have to ask for them to heat them up. As you can see it kind of ruined the aesthetic, but made it much more enjoyable! It was light and fluffy (as opposed to a denser roll), but I found the icing to be overwhelmingly sweet. Truthfully I like the other ones in East Village better but you'll have to try them out for yourself! It was also by far the most expensive cinnamon roll I've had. On the plus side, cold brew is only $3.50 and strong!

Yelp
Pretty bland and average for something this expensive. Cashier was fantastic and very social! There was no wait and got our food incredibly fast. Got the strawberry shortcake and classic cinnamon roll (not pictured, but below the strawberry shortcake.) - Classic roll tasted ok, but I wouldn't say it's the best according to other reviews. Hani's which is a few blocks away makes a way better cinnamon roll. This one honestly tasted quite average and almost reminded me of canned Pillsbury doughboy. They ask if you want it to be warmed, which we said yes too, but very somehow still cold. (3/5) - Strawberry Shortcake was pretty bad. I could see why there were so many remaining, but I'm a sucker for anything strawberry and it looked visually appealing. This one tasted like white wonder bread with canned strawberry jelly, it reminded me of one of those boxed Entenmann's Cakes. (2/5) Won't come back, but hope others can enjoy it!

Yelp
really like how innovative their flavors are! the strawberry shortcake cinnamon roll didn't taste artificial at all & the strawberry flavor shined through! the pesto burrata balanced out the sweetness of the strawberry shortcake roll, and the burrata was super creamy.

Yelp
There seems to be multiple cinnamon roll spots opening up all over the city, and Spirals is the most recent one. Be sure to check out their site, as they list the featured monthly and rotating flavors, such as Cookies & Cream, Pesto Burrata, and Strawberry Shortcake. We ordered: +the Original Cinnamon Roll +the Strawberry Shortcake Roll +and, the Pesto Burrata Roll - was super curious about their savory version They also have their Original Cinnamon Roll Challah, which are available on Fridays! Love that everything is handmade - the rolls were fluffy and had a generous amount of topping - no skimping out here! Easily shareable between a couple of people, too. Staff and serve were both friendly and welcoming; super efficient, and the line moved along well. Some counter seating available, but it's more of a to-go type of a place - be sure to check out their swag (their hoodie is super cute!)! Great spot to grab a snack or to satisfy a sweet tooth! +cinnamon rolls +rotating flavors on a monthly basis +Original Cinnamon Roll Challah on Fridays +friendly service

Yelp
I got the pesto snd mozzerella one thinking its a pistachio. Even asked the cashier and she said it is. Kinda bland and tasteless Not worth $9.25..maybe $4.50? Anyways I will try the other ones.

Yelp
Wanted to like this place as I live nearby but agree with the other reviews that it doesn't quite reach the cinnamon roll standard that other nyc bakeries have set (red gate, hani's). Staff is really friendly though! To note, the strawberry shortcake roll doesn't have any cream cheese frosting, which I didn't realize in my pre-coffee / pre-work run this morning.

Yelp
Amazing cinnamon rolls. Great vibes. Best rolls in NYC for sure. Service was friendly and great.

Yelp
The food, service, and vibe were all amazing. I was super happy with the quality and the price. I will definitely be a frequent visitor!

Yelp
Amazingly delicious fresh cinnamon rolls with creative varieties! You must try this new fun place!

Robin M.

Yelp
Cute little new place. Friendly service. I had the vegan cinnamon roll, and it was best best one I ever tasted. Fun to pull apart. Not too sweet.

Cindy M.

Yelp
These cinnamon rolls are insanely good! Fresh ingredients, warm, tasty and a variety of incredible flavors both sweet and savory. I'll come back again and again. So happy this is my new local E. Village breakfast/lunch spot. Highly recommend!

Dylan G.

Yelp
So glad I found this awesome new spot. Best cinnamon rolls I've ever had! Amazing service too!

Blake M.

Yelp
Very tasty! I was lucky to hear about this new spot in NYC and will be going back again next weekend. The cinnamon rolls were super flavorful and the workers were friendly. Excited to try all the flavors.

Yelp
Spirals is easily the best dessert spot in NYC and an absolute dream for cinnamon roll lovers. The shop is adorable, the merch is so cute, and the staff were incredibly friendly. I was impressed by how quickly the line moved. I tried the s'mores and strawberry shortcake rolls, and both were phenomenal. With rotating monthly flavors, I already can't wait to go back.

Lulu S.

Yelp
Super yummy! They have rotating flavors and my current favorite is pesto burrata, but I definitely need to come back for the cinnamon challah available on Fridays! Staff is incredibly nice and the store itself is super cute

Sherri M.

Yelp
OMG. My favorite sweet treat in NYC. Really delish and great service. Do not miss the strawberry!!

Ross M.

Yelp
Best cinnamon rolls I've ever had. Great service, great location, no issues whatsoever!

Isaac M.

Yelp
These cinnamon rolls might be the holy grail of sweet treats. Nice vibes and fun people too.

Adam M.

Yelp
Spirals has the best cinnamon rolls I have ever tasted -- by far. I went to the grand opening this past weekend and tried the savory Pistachio Pesto Burrata as well as the sweet Strawberry Shortcake, and both were delicious! The service is also very efficient and organized so kept the line moving quickly. I am definitely coming back on Friday to pick up a Cinnamon Roll Challah. Absolutely five stars!
