The Best Listening Bars In London - London - The Infatuation

"Spiritland in King’s Cross is the daddy of London listening bars. It’s been doing the audiophile, music-first thing since a time when surround sound speakers were a mere twinkle in the eye of all of London’s newest vinyl dens. This place has a profound commitment to its ‘70s aesthetic, a DJ booth with big, dazzling gold buttons you’ll want to press as soon as that mezcal Negroni hits, and cocktails that are masquerading as dessert—think cinnamon-spiced Sazeracs and carrot cake vespers." - heidi lauth beasley

Din Tai Fung’s Reviews Are Still Pretty Meh at the London Restaurant | Eater London

"Set in the Royal Festival Hall and offering a fundamentally pleasurable atmosphere, the food often tries to be inventive but lands as needlessly effortful: elaborate mash-ups such as ‘galotiri, friorelli, medjool date and date molasses, almonds’ and ‘chicken, parsley and chervil root, pear, shallots, fig vincotto’ display a sweetness that feels out of place, while a simple potato with rosemary and Parmesan oil provokes relief. The complexity on the plate lacks the sedulous attention required to make it sing, so until the cooking becomes more rewarding, the venue will hit more than the odd bum note despite its agreeable vibes." - George Reynolds

Spiritland - Review - Kings Cross - London - The Infatuation

"Sometimes the seat in Pret next to the plug point just doesn’t cut it. Sometimes you need a bolthole - for work or conversation - that offers a little bit more comfort. That’s exactly what Spiritland offers King’s Cross. This trying-to-be-cool-but-actually-quite-nice café and bar is ideal to pitch up in for an hour or two. The food is fine - don’t expect anything to blow you away - but the music and relaxed atmosphere make this an excellent place to know about in the area." - Jake Missing

The coolest vinyl bars in the world that music lovers need to visit - SilverKris

"Occupying a former coal-sorting factory that later became a legendary rave venue, I found Spiritland in fast-redeveloping King’s Cross to blend that musical heritage with modern audio culture: there’s a radio production suite to hire and lots of audio gear (including the latest headphones) for sale, while the main space segues from a daylight café-and-workspace to a lively evening bar that hosts artist talks, album launches and DJs utilising one of London’s best sound systems." - SilverKris

Google
It's situated in a really nice area, the place was recommended by chat gpt as a listening bar but it wasn't like that. I think it's rather a whiskey bar. There's lots of DJ gear inside but and vinyls that you can't buy but they play an album at a certain time.

After‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ dinner I popped into Spiritland for some cocktails and I absolutely loved it. The atmosphere was spot on: a lovely little place, dimly lit and buzzing. The music from their sound system was perfect for the vibe and didn't have to be drowned out by conversation. it is a great place for a chill and stylish night out in King's ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌Cross.

Late lunch on a cold Friday in January and there was plenty of space. Food was better, and better value, than I hoped (salmon and beetroot on sourdough), excellent coffee. The music was great (Wednesday, Isaac Hayes) and the system sounds astonishing - effortless yet engaging. Lovely end to a trip to London.

Was going to do one star but I have to admit the atmosphere would make that unfair. I would recommend this place for drinks but the food leaves much the be desired. I absolutely urge anyone who does order food to avoid the shrimp (photographed after already eating some) - it could still be eaten but really tasted like it came from the Aldi frozen aisle. Service was okay, very lovely front out house but beyond that could be improved once actually sat.

We visited Spiritland in the late afternoon, around 6pm, hoping to get a listen to the sound system. The hi-fi components look very impressive, but we noticed there is a bass boom which makes it less enjoyable to listen to, which if you’re hoping to attract an audiophile audience, is not great. The menu is limited and overly expensive, which I guess is pretty common for London bars, but the staff were very friendly and the service was good.

I went with my friend in November. When it came to payment we agreed to split the bill and the waiter gave my friend the card machine to pay her half. The screen asked if she wanted to pay a tip. She selected no and handed it back to the waiter. The waiter then pushed some buttons and a few seconds later gave me the machine. It did not ask me if I wanted to pay a tip and instead just asked me to pay me my ‘half’. I was a little suspicious, but paid. After we left we compared transactions and she paid £26 and some change and I paid £29 and some change. The bill was £52ish all included. We went back in to confront the waiter who actually ADMITTED HE GAVE HIMSELF A TIP. Please note that a service charge was included in the bill, and we had already paid this!! I know £3 is literally nothing, but it’s the principle! He was very apologetic and embarrassed when faced with the facts but I assume he does this alll day long and is only sorry now he got caught. Stealing such small amounts from each customer he serves, obviously reduces the likelihood he’d get caught as I’m sure most people are unlikely to notice or care, but I’m sure it does add up! Food was also mediocre… Shame as this was my second time there and atmosphere is not bad. But after this I’ll never go back. Thieving staff!

I would love to known the name of the person/DJ that was playing on the 10th October, because he really 'Let the sunshine in' at the exact moment that me and my companion we were about to leave. You gave us the most impactant moment on our first time in London, as also an amazing ambience and outrageous sound sysytem in the spot. Congrats, and hope that we can visit you again soon

Google
Please be aware that the online menu is wildly different to the menu in-venue. The wine is double the price and the cheapest bottle is £44. Cocktails are extortionate and barely last 5 sips. Really disappointing as we were scoping the place out for an upcoming birthday where we were planning on bringing a big group of friends, we will be looking else here. When I asked the waiter if why the prices were different, he just told me that that was the ‘online menu’ and wasn’t updated as they had new management. He did not appologise or offer a solution. We settled on a glass each and left within an hour. Real shame here, only positive feedback was the vibe and music inside were great.

Yelp
Needed a spot for a quick drink before dinner in the area and this did the trick. My party of four walked in at 7:30 PM on a Monday and sat outside. I had the rhubarb & yuzu cocktail, which was super tasty. Great vibes all around!

Yelp
Tasty drinks. Enjoyed the focaccia and charcuteries board Id refinery return for another round. Inside was definitely dark and "edgy" - felt like I walked in on the waitstaff

Yelp
My new favourite place, King's Cross is just getting better and better and it's good to see a truly unique place pop up amongst the growing number of chains. I was a bit worried to find another hipster vinyl revival place with a slightly naff retro feel ... happy to experience a more unique concept with massive speakers and serious looking audio booths. Most importantly, excellent choice of music, so far nothing predictable ... So why only four stars, well, I'm being picky. No luck so far in signing on to the wifi (neither have my friends, so it's not just me being blonde) and rubbish mobile reception - ok, forgivable, perhaps you should just kick back, relax and enjoy the music rather than trying to take your work to such a great place. Very disappointed to make all my way out here to be told the place was closed for a Christmas party - in late January - not impressed! Also, haven't had a chance to sample their food yet, so this is just a preliminary review. More to follow, any excuse and I will be back ...

Yelp
Great cocktail bar near Kings Cross which is part of the new blocks of flats that are going up. It's a little dark and noisy so perhaps less than ideal for groups / group conversation but could be a great date night spot. They have a fantastic (extremely expensive looking) hi-fi sound system and each time I've been there, they have a DJ spinning jazz.

Yelp
This is a pretty cool spot separated with the vibe of a DJ spinning music while you choose or eat one or several items off the menu. Limited, but effective with choices of salted beef sandwich, Cesar salad, pickled veggies, to brownies and ice cream. A collection of beer, and spirits will also keep you grooving to the constant album turn of Barry White or Ray Charles etc... Bottom-line - Check it out if your in the area. It's different, comfortable, beatnik vibe. Plus you can use their wifi to browse the internet as you blow time waiting for your drink or food.

Yelp
Cool place for drinks and enjoying music! They have an amazing sound system They have food too but I have tried it. It looked like a nice selection of nibbles and dishes. I would come back to try the food too.

Yelp
Love the ambiance and the DJing is immaculate. Looking forward to my next visit.

Yelp
Went for a drink with a friend on Halloween. I really appreciated the GREAT sound system, and even though I'd read that they were playing metal for Halloween actually it was more rock (which is more to my general taste). It was a good level which meant we could still have a conversation too. The range of drinks was ok, and it was very pricey compared to what I'm used to. I'm not used to bars with table service, so maybe it's just that bar / restaurant divide thing... Every day at 6 they play a whole album for people to listen to on their fantastic system, which I think is a really great idea. If I worked in the area, I would definitely go in for that, but for socialising it's a bit too expensive for me.

Yelp
To me, this hits all the right notes: slick decor, warm service, scrummy food and yes, the sound system is as good as everyone says it is. I went twice: once late in the morning to get work done (music wasn't blaring and the coffee is legit) and once in the evening with my brother for old fashioned's and a bite. Nothing else quite like this in the city. Highly recommended.
