Google
Very cute place to eat. Great Customer service, our waitress was awesome. The food was amazing, hot, tasted fresh, was not a long wait at all, I went during lunch time. Very busy, but the staff was Hustling, very organized and knowledgeable people. Inside was very clean and neat, atmosphere is chilled , other than busy for lunch rush. You can dine in or sit outside, there patio area is beautiful, with lots of outdoor fans to make sure it's a good breeze. They serve adult drinks, very yummy well made. Cute dinner for any Occasion.

Google
Delicious, well done cocktails. We recommend the Corpse Reviver No. 2. Brunch menu was good, service was great. We sat with our two dogs outside. I appreciate that one of the servers brought out a bowl of water for them.

Google
Incredible food, great atmosphere and fabulous selection of local beer and quality booze. Surprisingly good selection of AMARO at reasonable prices. Great bar staff and friendly help. Highly recommend the beet salad appetizer or street corn appetizer. Specials of the day are typically worthwhile.

Google
I enjoy trying new-to-me restaurants and Spoonbill did not disappoint. Our table enjoyed a kid's meal hamburger, shrimp tacos, and barbecue shrimp as well as an appetizer. Everything was amazing with my grandson saying, "This is the best hamburger I ever had." One suggestion is to offer a lighter bread choice with the barbecue shrimp. Sometimes less is more. Thank you for an amazing dining experience. We will be back. (Pictured are the two of the three shrimp tacos.

Google
We happened upon this place after getting cut off by the parade route Saturday of Mardi Gras lol. Great find honestly. Best steak frites I’ve had in a loooong time :) wait staff was the sweetest, cocktails were lovely, price was fair. Overall 10/10. Very grateful for the serendipitous find <3

Google
Stopped in based on recommendations and didn’t disappoint. Food and service was Excellent. Had the Steak Nachos and “Commander in Beef” cheese burgers. Burger could have been bigger but was good either way. Finished off with the Tres Leches dessert. Great little gem of a restaurant.

Google
Went on a Saturday and got there just as it opened. It is located inside a renovated gas station and is so awesome. Indoor and outdoor seating. The staff were all A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!! We loved the retro ceramic dishes. Plus, the food was absolutely fantastic. Try the fried cauliflower!! This place is a must try. You won’t be disappointed We’ll be back for sure as well.

Google
Popular downtown spot with a solid, small menu. Our waitress was knowledgeable about the draft selection (all local craft beers!!) and they also have a strong bottle collection of craft beer. We got a dozen oysters 1/2 parboiled and 1/2 on the 1/2 shell. Both were delicious, but the parboiled were just a bit overcooked. Our main course was fish of the day, lane snapper heartily doused in chimichurri, and delicious! If you want local quality just across the street from an evening of entertainment at Rock N Bowl, this is a great stop!

Yelp
I still love this place and anytime I am in town, this is a must. if you havent been, it is an old gas station style set up, bathrooms outside etc.. I was traveling through again for work and was jonsing for some Spoonbill! service as always was on point, I sat at the bar. bartenders were AMAZING!!!!! super fun to chat with. I had a paper plane and a Manhattan both were on point. the smoked gulf fish dip was to die for, not like any other dip I have had or made, a lot less filler and more fish. the chicken sandwich was spot on, crispy, it had a little spice like it wanted to take off but it dropped a flavor bomb with a little spice, it was perfect! I may not have gotten a shirt this time as I don't know when i can get back.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I had a nice lunch here! We stopped by on a rainy Saturday. They have their own parking lot next door. We started with drinks. I got the goose drink which was sorta an old fashioned. It was strong and delicious! I also got the BBQ shrimp which was amazing! Highly recommend. My boyfriend got the birria sandwich which was also delicious! Great place to try!

Lauren L.

Yelp
Have to say I usually end up getting the burger or chicken sandwich. The prices are great. I usually see the same employees working as I did a year ago so that says something about management! Must be doing it right.

Yelp
Very yummy food and wonderful customer service. I enjoyed my meal so much. It's a beautiful restaurant as well. We also got a cookie skillet, but didn't manage to get a picture. I would recommend this place any day!

Julia V.

Yelp
Delicious and tasty eats in the heart of downtown Lafayette. My fiancée and I ordered the bibimbap bowl, birria panini, duck tenders and cookie skillet. Our only issue with this spot was that the portion sizes were tiny and the service was quite slow. The waitresses were super friendly and vigilant but it took quite a while for our food to come out. Also the bibimbap that I ordered was a far cry from the classic Korean dish--the steak was dry and the "gochujang" sauce was swapped out with a Tabasco dressing that did not mesh well with the other ingredients. My fiancés dish on the other hand was cooked to perfection, with its slow roasted beef and perfectly cooked fries. The pecan cookie skillet was also amazing--cooked to order, with an oooey gooey interior and a slightly crunchy exterior. Overall, I would definitely go back to try more dishes on the menu but maybe steer clear of their "fusion" foods. PS, their outdoor retro diner vibes were also super aesthetic and a great place to cool off with its' giant umbrellas and large fans.

Yelp
Omg -the best fish dip and the spicy crackers are delicious. You have to check it out.

Jen G.

Yelp
Several employees saw us but didn't acknowledged us. The dining room was completely empty. Outside seating was full. The Junebug drink was delicious. Food was good. Service was adequate. Won't be back.

Hawn T.

Yelp
The crispy duck was our favorite thing here everything else was average. Bibimbap could use more sauce on the steak or any sauce at all. I love oysters but I understand why people complain about the portion size here vs price. $16 for half a dozen of small oysters is a lil pricey. That should be more for fine dining price. I would avoid going here in the hot summer though. Not enough AC but it's a great prime location and the staff was nice. This place has a lot of potential.

Yelp
A friend and I came here while on a weekend trip to Lafayette per the recommendation of several people. Everyone hyped it up so much and we were so excited to try it. Unfortunately it was a bit of a let down. It was very busy and our waitress, though very nice and friendly, totally forgot about us. It took about 20 minutes before we got checked on to actually order our food and then another 30 mins to get our check at the end of our meal. I understand they were pretty busy but other tables around us were getting waited on in timely manners and got their food way before we did. This wasn't the only issue though, our food was very subpar for how long of a wait we had. It was so disappointing after it had been hyped up to us. I had the bibimbap and it was so bland. Both the rice and the radish had zero flavor. The meat was good. The fried egg was also way overcooked, it had a completely set yolk so there was no runny yolk to mix in with the rest of the food. Which is such a key point of eating bibimbap. My friend had the fish and chips and she said the fish itself and the fries were good but didn't like the batter on the outside of the fish so she picked it off. We also ordered a Mai tai to share and it was severely overly sour. I'm not a frequent drinker but my friend is and she couldn't even drink a lot of it. We sipped on it til it was maybe a little below half full and had to stop because it just wasn't pleasant. Maybe we just ordered the wrong things and went at a bad time. I'd be willing to try it again if I'm ever in the area but it definitely didn't live up to the hype for us.

Yelp
First visit food was really good and fresh! 1 little issue (waitress forgot my food order) so hubby got a salad and had to wait for my tuna wrap, was delicious. I only took a pic of the fried cauliflower We did have to add seasoning to all of the dishes but I don't hold that against them!

Anastasia K.

Yelp
It was a great experience. The food was amazing. Our waitress was wonderful and we are so glad that we stopped by

Nick T.

Yelp
The people were great. Good food. And they were super welcoming of my two pups. Love this place.

Kathy B.

Yelp
Great busy street side dining. Festive. People watching. Overall, very affordably priced. Generous and very tasty portion of duck tenderloins. Side salad is small but appropriately priced. Noodles and cauliflower were very good but a bit too heavy on the rich sauces. Delicious but I would ask for on the side next time.

Sandra T.

Yelp
We tried this place twice, with this crazy hot weather it was difficult to enjoy the meal and drinks, service is amazing and the staff is very helpful and attentive. Last visit we ordered a plate called "Bibimbap" which was delicious. ~ I did not have a 5 star because the lack of air conditioning inside the restaurant. Not enough fans either to circulate the heat from the kitchen and cool off the seating area.

Scott A.

Yelp
During a quick trip to Lafayette our uber driver recommended Spoonbill. So we stopped by and had a great lunch. Duck tenders, duck tenders tacos, angus burger, a couple Skater Aid beers (very good) and a delicious slice of king cake!

Teej R.

Yelp
WONDERFUL experience! staff is friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere of the place is awesome if you're a fan of the vintage 50's scene, and the food is absolutely phenomenal!!! I had the steak nachos, which I completely cleaned. This restaurant is perfectly crafted and curated for a delicious, satisfying, overall perfect taste of Lafayette!

Geraldine B.

Yelp
The menu is/ was limited to me but the burgers were great. Enjoy this quaint little spot will definitely visit again

Southern Bev N.

Yelp
Was in the area and looking for a good place for lunch. This place was definitely worth the visit. I had the duck tacos and the raspberry ginger lemonade. As suggested in other reviews, the tacos were delicious and the lemonade was fresh, slightly tart and sweet, just the way I like it. The fact this place was an old gas station added to its charm. I wished the weather was warmer because the outside seating area looked so inviting.

Amanda L.

Yelp
Really love the atmosphere and food here. This is our second visit. Beet salad was amazing. Burgers are excellent and duck tenders were different and surprisingly tasty. Everyone loved their food choices! Our server was excellent!

Renee B.

Yelp
There are so many great restaurants in downtown Lafayette, but Spoonbill is definitely one of my favorites. The burgers are legit, and I absolutely love the cocktails and beer. It's usually pretty crowded on the weekends, but if you're lucky you can hang out in this nostalgic watering hole. If I'm not mistaken, it was a former gas station? I went there recently with a couple of friends and we had some light bites and cocktails. The drink I ordered was called the Suffering Bastard which was pretty catchy. It was good. My favorite aspect of our visit was that I was able to buy one of their branded beer mugs for only five dollars. I could literally go buy a whole set for cheap. They are basically glasses in shape of a beer can. I will definitely be back for more cocktails, and signature glasses!

Jay C.

Yelp
Great atmosphere! Met friends here for dinner, service and food was wonderful. There is a small parking lot directly beside the restaurant and a larger parking lot not far away. One of person in the group was gluten free and celiac. The restaurant was able to accommodate both.

Scarlett M.

Yelp
Cute little restaurant. It has indoor and outdoor seating, with the outdoor area having a good amount of shade. When we got there at 11am on a Sunday the outdoor seating was full and there were only a couple of seats open inside; not surprising considering the nice Fall weather. I ordered the shrimp & grits and a lemonade. My drink came with a paper straw; hooray eco effort. The beer in the shrimp & grits made for a nice little flavor twist. My only complaint is that it followed the annoying modern trend of serving shrimp with the tails still on. Parking can be tricky, but overall a nice option.

Ernesto E.

Yelp
This place is a hit or miss with me alwa6but I have found a few things that are always good. To start with, the mixed drinks are pretty good, then the beet salad and the burger are always on point... I have tried a few other things there but nothing memorable. Overall it's a pretty nice place with an up beat environment. Definitely worth trying. Of course the place is also pretty nicely kept. And the service has always been great no matter what.

Yelp
My party was driving around and looking for a place to have a nice brunch experience when we came across Spoonbill Watering Hole and Restaurant. The food quality, great prices, relaxing ambiance, great service, and available indoor/outdoor seating at peak brunch time were very refreshing for a gorgeous day like the one we chose to visit. Spoonbill is located in the old Filling Station in Downtown Lafayette, which is directly across the street from Rock'n'Bowl. We found free Sunday parking on the street nearby and had a pleasant walk to the restaurant. The general vibe and the music being played was fun (I distinctly remember Time Warp from The Rocky Horror Picture Show being played). I started with the Blueberry Hill mocktail, which was just OK. Those familiar with the Crunchwrap Supreme from Taco Bell will appreciate the Brunchwrap Supreme, which is what I chose (sans chorizo because I don't eat sausage). Boy, am I glad I did. It was absolutely delicious, and the hash brown sticks in the Brunchwrap weren't greasy at all. My side of cheese grits were definitely in need of salt and black pepper, but it was tasty after being doctored up. When the check came, we were thrilled that it came to be less than $15 per person before tip. Considering today's insane prices and the fact that this business is located downtown, I find that to be impressive. This was a experience worth bragging about and I can't wait to go back to try their burger and other dinner items.

Christian G.

Yelp
Best service ever!!! Relaxed delicious and fun. Ask Sky to make you a Mondino seltzer.

Janet G.

Yelp
Thanks Yelp for just being "a thing"! You helped my husband and I find this awesome restaurant as we were passing through town on our way to Houston. The place is super cute. We sat on the patio. We started with the Awesome Rolls and they were delicious!! The Awesome Sauce is exactly that- awesome. A little sweet and a little hot. We split the grilled Gulf fish entree. It came with grilled vegetables and a couple of avocado slices. I don't know what the seasoning/marinade was but it was delicious. The entire meal, including the appetizer, was delicious!! The tea was also good. If we're ever back in the area we will definitely be back. Our server, Jacey, was excellent and so was the host.

Jacobie H.

Yelp
Can't wait to go back! The oysters were amazing. The birra was flavorful. Staff was beyond phenomenonal. Great Playlist kept me on my toes with hit after hit classic after classic. Then the drinks *chefs kiss*..

Allyson C.

Yelp
Very busy Friday evening but we were given a table. Very pleasant wait person. My husband enjoyed his beet salad but his fish was mealy and bland beyond belief. My watermelon salad was old, old, old. The outer edges were slimy and quite frankly not edible. My shrimp and rice was small in portion and only just okay. The bread it was served with was there like an afterthought. Why serve a sweet bread with smears of pesto sauce with a Cajun style shrimp dish is beyond perplexing. We must have ordered poorly as the place was hopping but nothing leaped out to us from the menu. Sad for us.

Timothy M.

Yelp
The food is pretty good, and the service is OK. The real reason to visit Spoonbill are the Tiki drinks. They have a wide variety of tropical cocktails, and I don't think I've had one I didn't like. I'll be back often!

Laura M.

Yelp
Food was good. Nice deck outside. But I can only give it 3 stars because the music was atrocious! Head banger music for a mostly business professional lunch crowd. I understand from the waitress that not surprisingly there are 3 male owners all in their 30's. Know your audience dudes and cater to your customers!

Sera G.

Yelp
I had a good time! The guests were friendly as well as the employees! I would highly recommend the breakfast burrito! It is good & perfectly filling! With some Tabasco it's a move 110% (: I will be coming back! (Teri A was awesome)

Craig R.

Yelp
Went on a beautiful day and sat outside. Service was a little slow but we didn't mind we had nowhere to go. The duck tenders were delicious crunch a star anise flavor with the bib lettuce and sweet chili sauce. Amazing. The beer batter fish sandwich was fresh and crunchy with a tartar sauce that had a little spice to it. Just delicious. And both of the salads were fresh and plentiful. A great lunch

Allison S.

Yelp
We sat in the bar on a Saturday night. Service was friendly. Cocktails were great. We ordered the artichoke dip and tostada appetizers, both were very good. I had the poke bowl. My husband had the beef dinner. Both of those were very good too. Presentation was nice, food was hot. Food came out fast. This was our fourth or fifth trip here and all have been very good with consistent service. We will continue to add Spoonbill to our downtown rotation.

Matt G.

Yelp
It was ok. But really nothing that would make me say "damn...we need to go back". Old fashion. Good. But very weak pour. It looked like half a measure instead of the full jigger. Loaded Fries. Loaded fries are always a filler in my opinion. All the toppings get stuck to the cheese as it re-Solidifies and they just never work. It's like covering a keyhole with glue and still expecting it to work. It just doesn't. Flavor was decent but still a pain to eat. Tuna tostada. Outstanding. Tuna was fresh and the Asian style flavors mixed with the greens were excellent. Chicken Sammich. Ok. They told me it was better than tHe Popeyes sammich. I queried if it was better than Chick-Fil-A and our server said they didn't know. I'm so glad they didn't say "yes". It was decent and thigh meat marinated in Tobasco, but not overly spicy. WAY too much bread so I ate it like an open face sandwich. It was good. But nothing that blew my socks off. The hipster clientele made for...VERY interesting people watching, but you know neckbeards were anti-cool before being anti-cool was cool. Service was excellent and prompt. All in all. Not sure I'd try to go back unless a group of friends wanted to go. So. Rock solid 3 stars.

Mallory E.

Yelp
Tried Spoonbill Watering Hole when I was visiting Lafayette. It was definitely a great place to go. Spoonbill was one of my favorite places to eat lunch and grab a cocktail, even though it was quite expensive. If you are sick of eating cajun and creole food and need something a little fresher this is the place to eat!

H. M.

Yelp
First time. Scratch Kitchen isn't open on Sundays. Real talk, a lot of places aren't open on Sun/Mon. Didn't know that, so plan ahead. Spoonbill, so far so good. They close at 2pm so I guess I came in during rush hour. It took them a while to deliver coffee, they ran out, thankfully upon greeting I got water. As soon as they had coffee, they delivered. Reve Coffee, local buisness, robust at the top and raisin at the end. I ordered cheese grits, and Brie Toast-no bacon, for the vegetarians, you can double the egg. The dressing for the argula/basil salad was nice topped with cherry tomatoes. Additionally, because I could, I ordered the custard french toast. And yes it was delicious. The portions are appropriate and if your a glutton for delicious food and a good time, you can order a lot of things without rolling out the door. Prices are good.

Brett C.

Yelp
Fast service , great food , Staff was attentive and professional, great outdoor atmosphere

Gabby K.

Yelp
The waitress (I didn't get her name, sadly) was so helpful and nice, telling us about which foods she recommended. She even told us that downtown Lafayette had a "best burger" competition, and Spoonbill won. I got the birria sandwich, I had been wanting to buy try birria, and it lived up to what i thought it would. The tres leches tasted like a mix of tiramisu and tres leches, it was so good. We ate outside, but they had fans going so it wasn't too hot. The music selection was also so so good, they played 90s and 2000s music (yes, even 2pac). If you come down to Lafayette, I 100% recommend eating at Spoonbill.

Hannah J.

Yelp
Unique menu with great flavors! The atmosphere is one-of-a-kind - can't quite put my finger on it, but the decor and energy feel different than many other places I've been. Service was pretty good, everything was clean, and guests seemed happy. Highly recommend the loaded fries appetizer with avocado cream sauce! Bibimpap wrap was also delicious!

Debra E.

Yelp
Great service and very friendly place. Very helpful matching paint colors for a chair I had.

Katelynn A.

Yelp
6 of us went for lunch and everyone's food was amazing! They have a great variety of meat and vegetarian options - and the menu is set up perfect for sharing or family style which I always appreciate. (Who doesn't want to try a little bit of everything, right?) The veggie rolls were delicious and the Spicy Noodles (or Noodz) were AMAZING! The beet salad was also super flavorful. It's on a beautiful corner in downtown Lafayette and for some reason I felt like i was in Austin or Santa Fe (my 2 favorite cities). Highly recommend giving it a try!

Syanne W.

Yelp
I would highly recommend the duck tacos, they were delicious :) the service was very friendly and restaurant had a very nice vibe. I would definitely eat there again l!

Elenora B.

Yelp
I absolutely love everything about this place! I got their burger and it was definitely one of the best ones I've had. It was everything I want when I'm in the mood for a burger. We also ordered their loaded fries and they were filling, huge, and delicious. All of their food was at a great price considering how great their quality and taste was. Though I loved their food, the atmosphere may have been my favorite part about this place! It was super cute and the servers were super friendly. Will definitely be back the next time I'm in Lafayette!

Jamie W.

Yelp
In Lafayette for a wedding and found this gem of a brunch spot. The service was top notch and the shrimp & grits sauce was one if not the best I've had throughout my various brunch stops in the state. We got the salmon toast as an app & the scallion cream cheese was delicious - It's like a southern take on lox/cream cheese & bagel. Our table also had French toast & the Bad Bird. All of our plates were eaten clean. Great kids menu and kids menus prices as well. Very cool atmosphere & you could tell that the people who worked there were happy to be there to creat an experience. The indoor area is small, but a huge shaded patio with lots of fans looks like a good time as well. Kudos!

Kelly J.

Yelp
This is a fun little restaurant that used to be a Conoco gas station. So cute! It's small and cozy with a bar and lots of outside seating. The menu is great- burgers, Mexican, lots of good, creative cocktails, and more. Very good frozen margarita and my husband had a mezcal cocktail, also very good. We are at the bar bc we wanted to avoid a wait. The staff was extremely accommodating. I can't wait ti go back and try something else. Btw I had shrimp ceviche tostada and hubby had a burger. Both were perfect.

Becky C.

Yelp
This place was delightful. I can't wait to go back. Staff was helpful and friendly. I was only sad I couldn't the whole menu.

Micah L.

Yelp
What a great find!!! Quick stop on our way through. Food and service was awesome!! Highly recommend. And love how they used an old machine shop.

Chastity

Yelp
I had the tomato soup and the caprese panini. So good! The panini was a little underwhelming but the soup made up for it. Service was excellent! Also love the decor.

Snaxx M.

Yelp
We came here for lunch while visiting a friend in town, will definitely be back next time! Server was very friendly and helped recommend items when we couldn't decide--menu options all sounded delicious. They even subbed oat milk in one of the cocktails so my partner could drink it, very accommodating (and the drinks were tasty!) We got the cauliflower, bibimbap bowl, and burgers. Clean plates all around, food was perfect. The patio has heaters since it was chilly outside and people brought their dogs, which was fun. The architecture has a funky retro vibe, we loved everything about this spot!
