Spork - Review - Garfield - Pittsburgh - The Infatuation

"For a restaurant named after a confused piece of silverware, Spork confidently serves some of the most creative food in the city. Everything on the menu here is something you think you’ve seen before, but way better. Like the “Bread & Butter,” which arrives with four spreads including a gorgonzola butter we’d like to keep on our person at all times. They have a $65, seven-course tasting menu or you can order a la carte - either way it’s going to be an expensive night, but perfect if you’re celebrating something while you’re in town. If you want something more low-key and are here for longer than a weekend, their weekday Happy Hour (5-7pm at the bar) has excellent cocktail and pizza deals." - Madeline Quigley

I found this place last year and booked it for my boyfriends birthday we loved it SO much I booked it again this year for his birthday! The drinks are his favorite. The food is out of this world. The scallop appetizer was by far the best scallops we’ve ever had. They bring small dishes out in between from their garden and each amazing in their own way.

Excellent service and a classy atmosphere one would expect for this price range. Really great appetizers. The duo bird was a duo of conflict to my mouth. The pheasant was dry and overcooked. The squab however was amazing! The octopus appetizer was phenomenal. Halibut was super tasty but the side dish of cabbage was bit plain. They are putting out allot of effort to make a great place and it shows. Little extra work needs to be done to match its price point.

Very nice meal and environment to help us enjoy an anniversary. The staff were attentive and informative, and food and drink delivery was discreet. We never felt pushed but always supported. The food itself was tasty! Would love to return and try more dishes. I was not sure how to finish off my espresso from its tiny affagato pitcher (I chugged it!). I am grateful for the opportunity to dine at Spork, I think you would be, too.

Google
Spork is definitely the best restaurant in Pittsburgh. The menu is small with everything being (more or less) locally sourced, including a garden in the backyard. We can recommend everything we tried, with a team favorite being the pork cheeks and the octopus which was super thick and very well cooked. While the wine menu is a bit weak, the cocktail selection is all the more fun. Service was excellent, our waitress brought a great vibe and was very knowledgeable about the food options including what would work with dietary restrictions / preferences. Only minus is the atmosphere: the A/C is a bit too strong and the acoustic makes the place seem very noisy. Would definitely go again, especially as the menu changes with the seasons.

Google
After looking at the menu before making reservations, we were on the fence about actually dining here or not. We couldn’t comprehend most of the dishes or ingredients in their descriptions, but we were so genuinely thrilled we decided to go and experience Spork. Every member of the staff was friendly with a smile, accommodating, and extremely knowledgeable. The only thing we were disappointment with was not getting the 3 course desert! We will absolutely be using the excuse of not getting the desert at Spork as our soonest reason to return! The drinks, food, and the delightful surprise of an array of small dishes that were brought to us throughout our visit were all impeccable.

Google
They bring these small bites throughout your meal and that’s such a creative idea. When we thought we were done with small bites, they brought it in more and that was exciting because it was all a variety of things. They also brought chocolate at the end of the meal as a little dessert. The service is very personal able and attentive. We ordered truffle pasta, lamb and fried chicken. For the amount of money, I did expect more from all these dishes. Unlike a lot of other places, they do have a mock tail menu which I appreciated. It is a nice place to celebrate something special.

I came in the day before Thanksgiving last year. They had a little complimentary tasting menu with delicious bites. The quail was very plump and flavorful. Most Pittsburgh restaurants I’ve been to are fairly good but this one really stands out! Cocktails were delicious and the staff was friendly. They even wrote a cute message on my to go box.

Had dinner here recently and it was truly a treat. From the appetizer to dessert, each course was like opening a delightful new present for the palate. Ever tried their Orange Orchard drink? It's quite the charm, enough that I happily asked for a second round! The staff here are as pleasant as a spring breeze, really making the experience even better. Paired with some seriously good food, it made for quite the memorable evening. Do I recommend it? Certainly! But don't take my word for it. Give it a whirl yourself. After all, the proof is in the pudding... or, in this case, every delightful course they serve!

Yelp
We had to have a farewell meal to say goodbye to one of my favorite restaurants in Pittsburgh, Spork! They're closing on the 21st so you still have to time sneak in one last time. They're reopening in the future as a new concept which I'm sure will be amazing. We sat at their counter (because I didn't have my shit together and made the reservation too late) and family styled a few things. I adore the fact that they bring out fun small bites between courses (also known as amuse-bouche) and their service and food is top notch and Michelin star level. I loved everything we got but my favorites were the crispy octopus and the tagliatelle bolognese! We were sadly too stuffed for dessert but will definitely be back when they open to try their new concept. P.S. They were super nice and let me wear my Halloween pajamas in because I was going to Halloween movie girls night in afterwards!

Yelp
Came here on a recommendation. Made reservations which is a good idea. The black Manhattan was real good and the right touch of sweetness. Nick was our server and he had a great handle on the menu and made great suggestions. We got the crispy octopus to start. It was chargrilled perfectly, the smokiness of the char went great with the sweet corn and honey. The chorizo was a great touch with a little spice. The taste was great the octopus was a tad bit chewy. Chilled cucumber soup was great. It had a touch of dill that paired perfect with the cucumber and the pecans added a great crunch. I chose the Forest Mushroom Ravioli. Wow the flavors were excellent. The truffle crème and ricotta was perfectly creamy. The red tomatoes were perfect and sweet that make for a flavor bomb. My friend ordered the pork chop. I tried a bite and it was probably the juiciest chop I have had. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. Small tapas came out through the meal was a real nice touch. Great service and ambiance, a great place to go in the Steel City.

Yelp
Another hidden gem in the city. Heard quite a few good things of this place for the longest time and finally got the chance to check it out. I love the open kitchen concept where you can see the action happening and smell the aroma of food they're making. Service was good except when my friend and I arrived, our table wasn't ready for another 30 mins ish. The hostess kept apologizing for the delay and made sure we were well taken care after we've seated. Food wise, it was spectacular! We were surprised by the complimentary small bites that were offered. They maybe tiny but they're absolutely delicious! In terms of their small plate and entres, they're on a larger size and it's definitely shareable. This place is a treat for a foodie like me. With each bite, I could taste the plethora of flavors. The one that caught me off guard was the octopus. It looked overcooked but the texture reminded me of roasted quail. Each and every dish that we've ordered are cooked to perfection. It's worth the splurge on both food and drinks there. Looking forward to coming back!

Yelp
I tried Spork for the first time and it did not disappoint! I'd heard amazing things, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The staff was fantastic, and the food? Phenomenal For an appetizer we got the Spork Garden Swiss Chard Onion Tartelette. It was extremely delicious. For our main course, we ordered the Dream Mountain Ranch Elk Bolognese and Forest Mushroom Ravioli. The ravioli was HUGE. Complimentary Focaccia, Falafel Balls, and chocolate Truffles came during our dining experience as well. The pastas were truly something special. Each dish offered a unique combination of flavors and textures. It was truly a memorable dining experience and yes, they do have actual sporks there hahaha!

Yelp
Looking for that truly special restaurant? Spork in Garfield is it! I can't stop thinking about our experience at this chef-led restaurant. This isn't just a restaurant, it's a culinary experience. What sets this place apart is the farm to table ingredients and truly special preparations; which creates dishes that are so dynamic and interesting. The team works with small producers, grows some of their own produce + herbs, and mills their own grain for housemade bread. My favorite sip was the "So Long Frankie Louise" cocktail and my favorite bite was the homemade bread roll. When you get a reservation here expect out of this world food & service plus: Truly great alcohol free options including mocktails, zero proof beer & wine Surprise bites throughout your meal Lots of choice & small plates - great for the table to try a little of a variety of dishes This is such a unique spot to book for that special occasion. Definitely go hungry and be prepared to be well nourished!

Yelp
Absolutely incredible dining experience. From the food to the service to the little "surprises" sprinkled throughout the meal. I can't speak highly enough of Spork.

Yelp
Went here for a date night recently. We were surprised when the accouterments started coming but it made for such a unique dining experience. My fish meal was delicious and the cocktails were great! Loved the idea of the make a cocktail at the table. We're intrigued by the changes to come but loved our experience.

Yelp
I appreciate what they're doing as a chef owned and operated restaurant with their sourcing and sustainability. However, I just didn't have a great culinary experience here. The amuse-bouche is a nice touch but out of three, I only liked one. We had the crispy octopus-my husband loved it, but he also likes extra crispy wings. Maybe the crispness just threw me off because I equate that with overcooked. I didn't enjoy it, felt gummy and tough and the flavors surrounding it didn't support the octopus, jt was a competing taste and that was confusing too. Next we had the pork cheek and it was fine. One of my favorite meals that I've ever eaten in my 38 years of life is of pork cheek in Corfu Greece with kumquats. So my expectations were high and this was-fine. I really don't have much to say about it. Nothing negative but the flavors could've been more powerful. Next was my mistake-I ordered a (V) dish. I had the forest mushroom ravioli. I didn't realize it was (V)-I don't know if that means vegetarian or vegan to be honest. I'm pregnant and I wanted pasta. I really came there in hopes of the osso bucco or the eggplant rollatini so when both weren't offered, nothing really jumped out at me. Same for my husband, he had his heart set on an offering they didn't have currently so that was a bit disappointing. Back to the ravioli, I was expecting a home made ravioli with a delicious mushroom creme and a beautiful sauce. I should have read this description: Two cheese, tomato water, crispy brussels sprouts, koji seared mushrooms, ricotta salata, sunflower seeds, carrot crème. None of which makes sense in terms of a traditional mushroom stuffed ravioli. This was my lack of reading that got me here and lesson learned. My husband had the fried chicken and he was not impressed. We had "the dessert" which gives you three different tastes: Panna Cotta, Benne Miso Carrot Cake with Saffron Icing and Ginger Ice Cream, Gouda Cheesecake with Burnt Honey Cream & Berry Gel. Everything was fine, but the strangest thing we experienced was that the carrot cake was topped with what we thought were candied carrot strings-wrong, it was a mix of veggies, one of which was an onion. So imagine tasting this rich carrot cake flavor then on the back end ....onion. Yuck. I don't know if that garnishment was a mistake but, that really ruined the carrot cake for us. Honestly, this was a very mediocre experience and I won't be returning.

Yelp
One word AMAZING and I never really made this kind of comments for any place but this place is really incredible. Our helper was amazing. The food is incredible. The drinks are perfect. The prices are just right and so is the location with the beautiful dining room great atmosphere with great music, next time I'm back in Pittsburgh I'll be coming back

Yelp
Prior to visiting Spork I do not have the greatest expectations, But! I am very happy to recommend them to your list of restaurants to experience. Maybe it's the location that misled my expectations but I went here for a work dinner. The ambiance is great classy decor and seating / table preparation. Our server was very knowledgeable on the menu and was loaded with recommendations! The menu has a very good array of seafood other meats with many cocktails/wines to complement! Check them out! Enjoy

Yelp
Really enjoyed my time at this restaurant. I came on a Thursday early evening with a reservation. Probably could've gone away with that one around 630 but definitely by 8 PM, it got busy. The service was great and very attentive. Our waitress had great timing with refilling our water and asking if we wanted More cocktails. There were several complementary small dishes that came between our appetizer, dinner, and dessert. That was an amazing gift by the chef/restaurant. Honestly, I would've been satisfied just eating the complementary dishes lol. They included, a small soup, focaccia bread, Housemaid sausage, & more. We ordered the crispy octopus and pork cheeks for appetizer. The octopus was a bit too crispy, a good portion of the end tail was not really edible/couldn't even cut it with my knife because it was too cooked. The meaty part of the octopus was delicious. The lentils or whatever grains and vegetables that came with the octopus were fantastic! The pork cheek were perfect, absolutely nothing to say on that besides you should definitely get them. I ordered the wagyu eye for my entrée. One thing I noticed is that the waitress never asked how I wanted to steak done. I'm assuming that's because the chef has one way that they make it. I would've preferred if the steak was more rare. It was kind of between medium and medium rare. The seasonings were very good though. My partner got the fried chicken and that was very good. The greens that come with it are pretty sweet, it's definitely a high class southern entrée. And for dessert, we got the affogato, I loved the honeycombs on it! This restaurant is absolutely worth your time, belly, and money if you were thinking about coming. I hope my review helps you decide which foods to get!

Yelp
Nice little place with nice atmosphere and music in the background. Service was very good. Our waitress was also the wine expert and the wine list is really nice. The cocktails were very good. We started with the Wagyu Bavette Tartar that was really tasty and a good starter. We had a variety of items and everyone was very happy with their meals, including Berkshire Pork Chop, duck, Halibut, Elysian Fields Lamb Saddle. For desert we split the three course desert, a great end to the meal.

Yelp
From start to finish, we were not disappointed in the hype of Spork. The staff is so knowledgeable about every item on the menu. The amuse-bouche in between each course may have been one of my favorite parts of the entire experience. I wish I could go back and order a bowl of the cold mushroom soup that we started with....it is divine!! We started with the octopus appetizer because we both decided that we were going to try food outside of our normal comfort zone....let me tell you---ORDER IT! Every single bite on that plate was well balanced and delightful. We will definitely be going back and hope to enjoy something new from their next door season garden.

Yelp
Spork has been one of my favorite dining experiences in Pittsburgh for a little while now, and every time we go back it's just as good! The menu is all locally sourced and therefore changes frequently, and the food is prepared wonderfully. I recommend eating family style to be able to try as many things as possible. I was most impressed by the appetizers. We tried the octopus (my favorite & cooked perfectly!), compressed watermelon salad, pork cheek, & tomato salad. The only "miss" for me was the tomato salad because the others were all so interesting and flavorful. For large plates, we got the lamb (delicious as always), halibut, & fried chicken. In between each course you get an amuse bouche, of which the mushroom soup was my favorite. In addition to the fabulous food, the service at spork really stands out. The restaurant also has a good cocktail & wine list. It is a full fantastic dining experience, and I already can't wait to go back! Food: A Drinks: A- Service: A+ Ambiance: A-

Yelp
Our favorite spot in the city. Incredibly kind and helpful staff, beautiful decor, and out of this world food. Apart from what you order, they bring many little plates to try, so it almost turns into a tasting menu experience. They also have table side cocktail making, which adds to the experience. Spork has a garden, so the herbs they use in the food and drink are fresh. This enhances the food even more. You can't go wrong with anything on their menu.

Yelp
WE LOVEEDDD SPORK. The service was bar none, along with the food. I don't think I've had a better meal in my life. Like if i was ever sentenced to death and had to choose my last meal, I think the lamb at spork would be it. Everything that came to our table was absolutely amazing. The octopus was incredible, the little amuse-bouche that came between each course kept us on our toes. There was like a mushroom soup thing that I wanted to drink a whole gallon of. Rachel was a great server, and we loved being educated by her on all the menu items. I made our next reservation before we left the table. Can't wait to go back. Happy Eating!

Yelp
I tried so hard to like this place. After reading rave reviews and hearing lovely things from friends, I walked into Spork expecting a delicious experience. My Partner and I will occasionally drop ~$300+ for a truly exceptional PGH dining experience. However, we left spork nearly 3 hours after we walked in still hungry, entirely sober, having spent nearly $400 At that price, in Pittsburgh, I expect a truly incredible experience. unfortunately, everything was far from. First, the beverages. I started with their $20 charity cocktail. The server warned me "it's very sweet" which should have been the first sign. 20 minutes later the drinks arrived unbalanced, watered down, and lacking any sort of decent presentation. Maybe stick to letting your bar team shake their own drinks as opposed to having a machine over dilute them. The Mai Tai wasn't any better. served somehow watered down but also way too strong, the incorrect garnish gave it a completely different flavor profile than what is traditionally expected. Our food arrived quite a while later and it was just all bad. bland, lacking flavor, and really not worth the money. We could barely finish any of our dishes. The ramen for $50+ was inedible. I don't know how you mess up a ramen broth but it tasted like how a baby's diaper smells. They bombarded us with amuse-bouches, which ranged from really gross to literally the best thing we had that night, however thats not saying much. Like I said, we really wanted to love this place. But at this price range, I would literally never return and cannot suggest it to any of our friends.

Yelp
If you are looking for a "Dining Experience", this is the place to go in Pittsburgh. James Beard nominated Chef Christian Frangiadis and his team prepare some of the most beautiful and tasteful dishes in the city. And Sean Enright's cocktails perfectly pair with every dish. From start to finish you will be led on a culinary adventure that you will never forget!

Yelp
Spork has been on my list for forever and we finally checked it out - what a experience!!‍ - Our meal started with a tiny mushroom soup, yum! For small plates, we ordered Mushroom, Scallops and Octopus. Love their mushrooms, beautifully marinated and turned out to be super flavorful. Scallops were cooked perfectly cooked, and the tortellinis were the largest one I've seen, the filling was black truffle with ricotta, creamy but not heavy. The octopus though was a lil disappointing, flavor was good but texture-wise it's overcooked, the wasabi cabbage slaw underneath was surprisingly good! Then we were served the bread board! It was sooooo good, the focaccia and sourdough - Here come the Entrees! The presentation of Lamb Duo was a piece of art, came with a humongous plate Highly recommend to people loves lamb. Mushroom Raviolis, yes we loved their mushroom dishes so much that we picked it out of all their pastas! It did not disappoint! Each ravioli was almost same size as my palm lol, very fulfilling. Love the texture, especially with the crispy brussel sprouts and sunflower seeds! - Lastly, the 3 course dessert! We were so full at that point but we found some room for these babies. The lemon curd puff with fresh berry was very refreshing, we thought it's going be the best of all until we tried the mango berry sorbet! It came with a minty lemon gel, which made it to the top list! So good! Chocolate mousse bomb was yummy too. - House Cocktails Miso Guava and Milk Punch! I don't know why I didn't have high expectations for these, but they were so delicious, highly recommend both! - Overall a great experience. It's pricy but if you want to treat yourself or you are having a special occasion, then it would be a great choice and totally worth it!!

Yelp
Fantastic food and cocktails, wine. Sat at the bar on a Saturday night and the bartenders peppered us with sample drinks and apps. Servers were all great. Not cheap but def worth a special trip.

Yelp
Spork might be my new favorite restaurant in Pittsburgh!! My boyfriend and I went for the first time a few weeks ago. We have heard great things about Spork for years, but never made it in. We made a reservation for a Friday date night, and literally couldn't have had a better experience. I knew the restaurant was expensive, so I wasn't sure what the ambience would be like. It was super quirky with celebrity prayer candles on each table. I loved that the kitchen was wide open so we could see (and smell) everything being prepared! I would love to sit at the bar facing the kitchen next time to watch them cook! We were the first ones there at 5 pm and ate for 2 hours. Our waitress Heather was very personable and friendly, and answered all of our menu questions. She was passionate about the menu and made great recommendations. I started with a glass of Malbec and my boyfriend tried the Dairy Air Milk Punch. Both drinks were great. We ordered 2 apps and 2 entrees since it was our first time there, but the portions were large! I started with the crispy octopus ($33-roasted red pepper spuma, crispy leeks, napa wasabi slaw, chorizo sausage), and my partner started with the Berkshire pork cheek ($25- spätzle, cider glacé, horseradish crème, crispy onions). We both were obsessed with the appetizers and could have eaten them as our meals. The octopus was so tender, except for the end which was too hard to eat. I think it was just for presentation, because I couldn't bite into it or cut it. The slaw was a mix of spicy from the wasabi, but cold in temperature. The flavors all paired together like nothing I've ever tasted before. This octopus was *chef's kiss*. My boyfriend raved about the pork cheek and said it was his favorite part of the meal. From the time you sit down, the staff brings over small bites from the kitchen to taste. This was really fun to try new things and made us feel special (even though everyone gets this treatment lol)! Some of the bites we tasted included: a mushroom/chickpea soup drizzled with chili oil, ratatouille on a cracker with grana padano cheese and fried leeks, and homemade focaccia (wasn't my favorite) with good Sicilian olive oil and seaweed churned butter (incredible). The board was sprinkled with salt and the presentation was beautiful for each dish! They also brought us warm buns that were amazing. I loved the roll much more than the focaccia. My favorite bite was the potato puff fried in duck fat with pureed crickets (I know...), and caviar on top. They should really offer a few of those as an appetizer because I would love to eat it again! Then we tasted homemade kombucha as a palate cleanser before our dinner came. I got the most beautiful pasta dish I've ever seen! Forest mushroom ravioli ($44- two cheese, tomato water, crispy brussels sprouts, koji seared mushrooms, ricotta salata, sunflower seeds, carrot crème). The raviolis were packed full of the savory mushroom filling. The carrot creme was also so unique and flavorful. My boyfriend ordered the wagyu eye ($84- black shallot mashed potatoes, grilled broccolini, fermented tomato hollandaise) and loved every bite of it. We were so full at this point, but still wanted to try their beautiful desserts. The Dessert ($28- 1. profiterole craquelin lemon curd (my favorite), with fresh berries, 2. chocolate umami bombe with tempered milk chocolate, chocolate espresso mousse, strawberry fluid gel, 3. vanilla génoise mango, strawberry, vanilla glacé bombe coconut cashew powder, dulce de leche crème, mint-berry fluid gel). Each dessert was straight off of a cooking/baking tv show. We were impressed with every bite. I loved the mix of sweet and savory! When more produce is in season, they use what they grow in their garden! Everything in the restaurant is farm to table and tastes fresh like the seasons. Our whole meal was absolutely incredible and we will never forget the experience! I highly recommend this restaurant for a special occasion or just to treat yourself. They also have a happy hour at the bar with discounted drinks. I'm not sure if there is discounted food for happy hour too. It would also be fun to go to dinner with a few people so you could share some more appetizers. We will be back for a birthday or anniversary very soon! :)

Yelp
I had not been to spork in ages, but had a gift card to use. I loved it here last time and was really excited to come back for some adventurous but delicious food! Our waiter was fantastic and service overall was well timed and lovely. However the food was lackluster especially for the over the top prices. We ordered the tomato salad and hummus, the scallop starter and the prosciutto pasta. Everything was over salted. The tomato salad was very over dressed it was overbearing. The hummus was average (not silky enough for my middle eastern taste) and it was not worth $25 dollars. The whole pairing was unnecessary. The scallop starter was ok. The scallop was good, but the rabbit pasta it came with was and odd combo. There was also a bone in my pasta which was awkwardly acknowledged, but no compensation for the poor attention to detail. The prosciutto pasta was a huge disappointment. Prosciutto is what I would like to be wrapped in when I die, but this was ALL salt, you could not taste anything else. The in between small plates were a nice touch and honestly tasted better than the actual ordered food. Again, the prices were just absurd. There are much better restaurants in Pittsburgh at this price point. Will be chugging a gallon of water tonight.

Yelp
This place is pretty good and they REALLY try. Appreciate that they are checking for vaccination and see that others have ding'ed them for this. I appreciate them doing this and this is why I thought it would be good to write a review for this place because they should be measured on that fact. Went there with the family. I was actually surprised that there were other families there as it didn't really seem like a menu that would attract the crowd. The lamb shank was good and had a good taste to it. There are a couple of pastas on the menu that were quite tasty. Wife had a fish dish that was quite delicate. Just a TOUCH under seasoned for our taste but nothing a flick of salt couldn't solve. We were eating all day so we skipped the appetizer course. Although, they did have two rounds of amuse bouche that were quite stellar. This is what I mean that they were really trying - expect this from a little more higher end restaurant and really shows the range of the chef. Specialty drinks were pretty good. They looked a little foo foo but they turned out quite good and happy happy. Cheers

Yelp
Spork is a solid 4+ but not 5 star restaurant for me. I've been here several times and tried a large sampling of their dishes and also had inconsistent service experiences. First things first, I love that they make everything from scratch and buy everything locally (including cheese goat roadeo!). They also usually have little amuse-bouches come out between courses which are really inventive and delicious (one favourite is the lil pastry ratatouille, but they are different everytime) Small plates: I recommend the fried octopus, really well done! Entrees: My favourite was the Koji Rye fried chicken which had some sweet Asian food-y elements that cut through the salty fried chicken. I've also had the stuffed quail and the wagyu spinalis (surf n turf) which were really really salty to me and not as enjoyable. The lamb double is also very very nice but my friend got this and I only tried a bit. The last consideration is value for money and here spork I think loses to its competetion in town. Spork is one of the most expensive places to eat in Pittsburgh but definitely not best in class in terms of taste/dining experience unfortunately

Yelp
Came here with a large group for dinner. Def make reservations ahead of time. Overall well made fresh tasty original food. They change their menu items regularly so everything is fresh. We had a ceviche app and an entree which was plenty of food. Before dinner there were 3 or so pre dinner chef tasters that came for the table which honestly made the night. They were all so tasty (mushroom soup being my favorite) and added an extra (delicious) flare and def brought this from a 4 start to a 5 star review. Service - very attentive. Ambiance - lively yet intimate. Not too crowded. Cost - def on the pricey side (ie 40-60 bucks for an entree) but worth it by both quality/taste and the pre-meal tasters. Cocktails- most were fantastic. The only one that disappointed was the fusilado- Very boring no flavor. Post melon however was delicious. Also have a charity cocktail which is a great concept. Rating system: 5.0- obsessed. Wouldn't change a thing. Wish I lived here 4.0 - a must go place. Has its flaws but guaranteed to be enjoyable. 3.0- would go to again under specific circumstances but not my top choice 2.0 - wouldn't recommend and won't be back. 1.0 - something must have been terribly wrong for me to publicly review a business so harshly.

Yelp
My husband and I have come to this restaurant several times over the past few years. It has been one of our favorite spots. This was our first time back since it's temporary closure through COVID. The atmosphere was the same which we love and the menu had some new changes. They also surprised us with a few palate cleansers and an amuse-bouche which was a nice touch. We started with a cocktail, I had the So Long Frankie Louise and my husband had the El Fusilado-both were fantastic. We had a little bit of a wait for our table which we did not mind however the manager took it upon himself to take care of our drinks which was so nice and greatly appreciated! To start, we had the scallop appetizer which was amazing and possibly some of the best scallops I've had in Pittsburgh. For our meals I had the Lamb and my husband had the duck. The duck was great and the Lamb was beautifully prepared. I was a little disappointed in the portion of the lamb for the price (essentially 1/4 rack with some breast meat for $88). For dessert they offer a three course dessert for $28 or essentially ice cream for $13. We did try the three course dessert which was delicious however we wish we had had the option to just select one. Overall we really enjoy Spork and will definitely return!

Yelp
Had an unbelievably wonderful meal here with my best friend and we tried so many delicious items - what a treat! Every bite was perfect and the service was lovely. Cannot wait to go back for their summer fare, once the garden is blooming! It's worth the price tag for a wonderful night.

Yelp
Always an amazing experience at Spork! The drinks are superb, the food is always top notch, and the service is somehow even better. They love to bring out the chefs newest creation for a taste and make you feel like family.

Yelp
Stopped at Spork after a Make it Now class at Pittsburgh Glass Center on a Friday. We sat at the bar bc we didn't have reservations. (I would highly recommend reservations!) Our bartender, Zoe, made great cocktails and was helpful with recommendations. Amuse-bouche of the soup and salad while we waited for our small plate were perfect, likewise the bread and butter board. We shared 3 small plates-prawns, scallops, and carpaccio. All were delicious. Finished with 3-course dessert, also amazing. The restaurant has a chef's table and open kitchen. Definitely was a great night and we truly appreciated the service.

Yelp
Come here for a cocktail, an appetizer/salad, and maybe a protein. Bring a box of seasonings, your last paycheck, and definitely skip the pasta courses. The cocktails are creative and excellent. Wine list is a bit eclectic and has some fun bottles. Appetizers are tasty, especially the crispy octopus. Charred romaine salad with hummus has potential. Several interesting amuse-bouche bites throughout the meal. The entire menu is inspired by fresh, simple ingredients. Bread and pasta are made in-house. The protein courses, lamb and beef, are well prepared with high quality meat. Two main disappointments: The pasta dishes and the prices. The pasta courses are under seasoned and use far too many ingredients that are not well balanced. The huge ravioli with a runny mushroom puree inside are far too thick and chewy, the squash-based sauce is flat, and the whole dish is covered with a pile of unnecessary leaves, sprouts, and vegetable pieces. The tagliatelle with ramp pesto and chopped vegetables is flat, bitter, unbalanced, and almost inedible. Neither my wife nor I could eat it. Overall, Spork is creative and fun, slightly pretentious, marked by culinary immaturity, and far too expensive for the experience.

Yelp
They always have delicious craft cocktails and creative dishes that are beautifully plated! The bar and decor is designed more contemporary and the menu has a variety of pasta, seafoods and meats. In addition to what you order, the server brings out complimentary samples from the kitchen throughout the night. I thought that was cool and a nice way to try more of what the kitchen has to offer.

Yelp
First off, WOW. Everything about the entire dining experience was to die for. We started with drinks which were well made and delicious. Next we tried the ceviche and the crispy octopus which both blew away our expectations. When it came time to choosing a bottle of wine for dinner, the in-house sommelier helped us pick the perfect red wine to accompany the wagyu eye and dry aged duck that my boyfriend and I ordered. In addition to the food being some of the best I've had in a long time at a pittsburgh restaurant, the staff was kind and accommodating, and the ambience was refreshing. Last but not least, they provided multiple smaller dishes between meals that were bite size servings of absolute deliciousness. Everyone needs to go here. No exceptions. BRAVOOOO!

Yelp
You guys, this place changed my life. I walked in a girl and left a woman. I would trust our server with my life, he never steered us wrong. What are you waiting for??? Go to Spork and thank your girly later

Yelp
Some of the absolute best food I have ever eaten. The wait staff is constantly bringing you samples of their locally grown food and homemade bread. The bartenders know what they are doing and even teach you how to make the drinks. Definitely make a reservation as they fill up quickly at peak hours. Anyone who wants fantastic food needs to come here.

Yelp
Way overpriced and quite noisy. The food is nice but too expensive. Intrusive servers.

Yelp
I went here woth my husband for New Year's Eve. They had a 6 course menu that looked amazing. Each course had something for anyone. They brought out a wonderful bread service that was complimentary. Two types of bread, and made in house butter. Delicious! The first course my husband had the jerk chicken taco and I had the duck confit. His taco looked great and he said it was spicy. The duck confit was cooked so well, it melted. Second course, my husband had the scallops which also came with a ravioli and looked delicious. I had the crab soufflé, and omg it was amazing. So light and airy, loaded up with crab inside and a creamy sauce to put on top of it. Outstanding! Third course, my husband had the wedge salad and I had their spork salad. Husband doesn't like veggies so he wasn't thrilled ha! I loved their spork salad. The creamy dressing was really good. Tied everything together. Fourth course I had the barrel fish and my husband had the trout. Both dishes looked stunning. Mine was a big portion and juicy, fell apart with the fork, just perfect. Fifth course we both had the filet, and why not? Haha at this point we were so full and struggling to eat it but we managed somehow! The lobster arancini that came with the filet was so good! It's like a Mac and cheese bite and a lobster roll had a baby. Last course was dessert, I had the torte and my husband had the profiteroles. They were of course excellent. I highly recommend this place. Service was wonderful and the chef even came out a few times to check in on everybody.

Yelp
Amazing We came here for our anniversary. It was probably the best service we had in a while. Also tasting plates come around through out your dinner. They are kind of small plates... Teasers to tell you you are in for a amazing dinner. We started with the tapas, the octopus. Delicious Then we got I got the sea bass and my partner had the mushroom ravioli ( mushroom ravioli is like the best pasta dish I had in a long time) Then dessert, Expresso's and some

Yelp
Excellent restaurant with great ambiance and tasty menu. Number of interesting items on the menu, I was having hard time making choices as I wanted to try many of those :). We made reservation at cooking counter but decided to dine at their beautiful bar and really enjoyed watching craftsmanship of their skillful bartenders. Tried 3 small plates: beef wagyu (excellent), crispy octopus (out of this world in terms of texture and flavor, I would come back just to eat that dish :)) and jalapeño staffed shrimp (pretty good). We had halibut and duck as our entrées. Halibut was great but not the best I ever had. The duck was divine. Really appreciated chefs small complimentary appetizers and between meals treats - such great touch. Thank you, we really enjoyed the dinner at Spork.

Yelp
Long delicious slow clap for Spork. The change up from all small plates to now offering full entrees is so welcome. The brilliant part is the addition of the amuse bouche courses thrown in during a truly delightful dining experience. These little treats for your mouth allow the kitchen to make the most of what is fresh from their beautiful on property urban garden. Chef gets to flex his considerable kitchen muscles and the guests get to enjoy tastes and flavors in dishes they may have never ordered from the menu. Let's talk about Cricket Mayonnaise- boiled down bugs are seriously fucking delicious. I had the duck and my husband had the halibut. Both phenomenal. The dining room vibe and environment is exactly what it should be. Our server was efficient lovely and knowledgeable. Literally the best dining experience I've had since I'm not sure when. Thank you Spork !

Yelp
I highly recommend Spork! It's a quiet small inviting restaurant. Pricy but you know that before going. It was worth every penny. I could see the work they put into each dish. You can taste the different layers of each dish that complimented the next. I will definitely be returning

Yelp
I freaking love Spork. The quality of food is bar none some of the best you will get in this town. This country for that matter. Everything from the appetizers to entrees and drinks=best. You'd be hard pressed to find anything wrong with Spork, their menus, tasty food or staff.

Yelp
Our entire party really disliked their food. The mushroom toast had too much liquid smoke, the shrimp were overcooked, the cocktails were too sweet despite ordering sugar free version, the eggplant was raw. Really disappointed and would not return

Yelp
I was still hungry after dining at Fish Nor Fowl and decided to Spork it. Another beautifully laid out establishment and the waitress was really pleasant also. Here is what I ate: Oxtail appetizer - one of the best oxtail I have had in a long, long time. Accompanied by creamy polenta, this dish was my favorite. Meat was tender and flavorful; the polenta surprised me and I couldn't stop eating it! I think it probably would be a great idea to provide a slice of toasted or grilled bread for dipping the sauce! The tagilitelle pasta was not what I expected. The pasta and veal bolognese did not meld together. The pasta felt drier and something seemed to be missing, I am thinking it needed a savory sauce to link them together. I probably would not order this again next time. The primary reason I went here was due to a picture someone posted of tres leches cake, however I did not notice it was an old picture over 2 years ago. Out of luck wanted this dessert! I would definitely come back again to try other foods! Recommend!

Yelp
I've tried spork a handful of times now but this last experience was probably the best so far! First, I love the atmosphere and decor. It's a small space but it doesn't feel like you're too close to any to anyone. The decor is simple and modern. I also love the open kitchen! Something that makes Spork stand out is that they are season ingredient driven restaurant with an ever changing menu. They also grow a lot of their herbs and vegetables in their own garden. My latest visit I went with a friend on a Thursday night. It was slightly busy but we were able to easily get seats. Our server was amazing! She was super helpful and friendly. We started with getting the charcuterie board to share. I loved the different variety of meats, which are all cured in house. I then ordered the ceviche and the scallops. The ceviche is like unlike any ceviche I've ever experienced. They add crispy pieces of pork to it that just makes the flavors pop. The scallops are also wonderful. Would definitely recommend both dishes. If you're going to Spork save room for dessert! This was probably my favorite part of my meal. I got the petit triangle which was a turnover, maple strawberries, rhubarb froyo, and almond granola. It was like an unhealthy breakfast but in the best way. All the flavors interacting in such a fun and delicious way. Every bite was so flavorful. Spork is a great restaurant for date night and entertaining guest from out of town.

Yelp
We were visiting Pittsburgh for the weekend and the Airbnb we were staying at was walking distance from this restaurant and we are so happy we walked there!! We absolutely loved this place! They make their own bread, pasta, and all of the food from scratch! So yummy!!! We also had an amazing server, Phoebe was great and gave us fabulous recommendations for food. We ordered the bread plate which is a a must do if you like breads...the focaccia was delicious! Oh and the sourdough...so delectable. So I would highly suggest that to everyone! For an appetizer, we ordered the leek tart...mmmm!!! It had beets on top and the cheese was melted beautifully! Then for our meal, we shared the Cacio e Pepe which is a pasta dish that they prepare for you tableside. The Executive Chef actually makes it for you in a huge Parmesan cheese wheel and it was delicious. It was quite a unique experience that again I would highly recommend to others! Oh and then we loved the sporks so I asked if we could purchase one and they let us buy 2 for $5...such a deal!!! We loved this place!!

Yelp
Wow, what a fantastic place! Spork reminds me of Altius, but without all of the pomp and circumstance. You get excellent food and service without the stuffy dress code. Sure the view isn't as good, but the overall experience is nothing short of wonderful! I enjoyed my meal too much to take pictures, but I can tell you everything was delightful: the Venison Carpaccio (such a favorable thin slice of meat), Seared Scallops (cooked perfectly and the rabbit spinach tortellini was an delicious addition), Berbere Spiced Gulf Prawns (wow that arancini was divine, along with the peri-peri and roasted red pepper puree), and Walleye (cooked perfectly with a lovely crunch and delectable chimichurri). The meal also came with three complimentary amuse-bouches and a delicious chocolate as a final goodbye for our tastebuds. What I truly adored about the restaurant was the saint candles on the tables featuring different pop culture icons. When St. Robert Smith greeted me at the entrance, I knew I was home! The music matched the decor - lots of alternative 80s (INXS, The Smiths, Echo and The Bunnymen, and, of course, The Cure). I can't wait to come back again to treat my tastebuds and eardrums!

Yelp
I went for an anniversary earlier this week, and have to say that the service and attention to detail was amazing! Drinks were 10/10 - I got the rainy night in Soho and then a glass of wine. The little amuse bouches you're given throughout were a great touch. My favorite was the starting mushroom soup. The mini taco was fine but not revolutionary. Food was great, but I almost wish we had ordered more appetizer dishes and then one main dish to share. We got the pork cheek app and it was amaaaaaazing. Quail and chicken for mains were super yummy, but pretty rich and heavy after an already long meal. The chocolates at the end, especially the white one, were literally the best things everrrr. Can't wait to go back

Yelp
Had dinner here with my boyfriend and had such a wonderful experience! We loved our meal and overall experience and definitely plan to return next time I am in town. Our server and the staff altogether were so attentive and made it a memorable time.
