Spotlight Karaoke

The staff that handled the booking was very responsive and answered all questions promptly. The event was a blast for everyone that attended. We will definitely be coming back for future events. The staff lets you decorate for parties, which is nice. You are responsible for bringing in food. Adult beverages and water/sodas are part of the drink package, but they allowed us to bring in kids’ fruit juices.

Food was alright, nothing really to write home about. However, the service was really great. Our waitress was phenomenal. I was a little taken back by the $10 re-entry fee. We still had a good time. Also, if you're taking a cake for a birthday party, they do not provide plates & forks. I know it's written in the contract, however, a reminder prior to the event would have been nice.

I booked the smallest room for my birthday on 2/9. We thoroughly enjoyed it. The waitress was very attentive, helpful, accurate and helpful . The reservation process was very easy and prompt. The vibe was good. The drinks were good. The only con was I wish they had Houston rap songs for karaoke. Would definitely do it again 😁

The place was amazing and my family and I have never had such a time. From the request to book, through the storms and the night of the event the business ensured our needs were met and granted . The food was surprising to us since everything we eat in Texas is amazing . 🤩

Spotlight Karaoke has always been a GREAT place to host an event! I’ve used them for daytime parties for my Drama Students & at night for my current company parties! Excellent music catalog, great waitstaff, excellent host & awesome drinks! Hope to try out their mobile karaoke option soon!

Me and some of my friends came in for a girls night out. Well we get in and most of the table are reserved. So we sit at the bar the nice bartender asked if we wanted to sit at a table and directed us to one. We sit at the table where we waited over and hour to be served. One of us got up and told the bar nobody had came to our table. The bartender told her she’s going to get somebody to come by. Nobody ever did. Eventually we waited so long 2 of us got up and had to go order drinks from the bar (the table beside us also told us that nobody was coming to their table either). It looked as if you didn’t have a section you’re not getting service. After the drinks were ordered a serve came to our table to drop our drinks off and cash us out. Well after that nobody came back to our table to check on us see if we needed more drinks which we did. So we then had to flag a server down after waiting another 45 minutes mind you at this time the building was getting empty. One didn’t want to order drinks anymore because of how long we kept waiting. Definitely need to work on cocktail service nobody wants to keep flagging servers down to order. Atmosphere and vibe was there a nice spot really they just need to get the service together. Also a 20% gratuity on a table with 4 people is just ridiculous nowhere on the menu might I add or the website a heads up is nice. In the women restroom that first stall you literally cannot sit down on the toilet. I had to squat sideways. Needs newer menus can you jazz them up a little? Make them look appealing. Better explanations of your service on website and possibly QR code with updates. The chairs are semi comfortable. And make sure your staff knows what you have and don’t have. Server told us they don’t have that flavor when we already had one in that flavor. Hopefully we just came on a bad night with service for them because other than that we would have really enjoyed ourselves. Front door staff is friendly.

This is an overall great place for food fun and of course karaoke. My 2nd time booking this spot for my birthday and we had a blast. Updated menu for the karaoke song list , great (strong) drinks and total great atmosphere! Highly recommend and will be coming back

I came to Spotlight Karaoke - Westheimer to kick off my 🥳 birthday month!! I’ve been to Spotlight many times, and I’ve had a handful of birthday events here and as ALWAYS the staff is AMAZING! The Host was fun and lively (great Prince tribute) the singing was awesome, the drinks were delicious and the vibe was vibing!! Came in around 8pm and some of the last ones to leave ☺️ Shout out to Shell and Kristina (great communication) for making this birthday something to sing about!!! 🎶 🎤 🤗 And, Happy Retirement, Charlie!!!🥳

This was a regular karaoke spot for me until I moved to Denver in 1997. I am visiting family this week and have already been there twice! Norris, the owner, and I hit it off right away! He and the DJ's keep everyone excited. Norris appreciated how I was decked out in a shirt and tie, and how I sang Rat Pack songs! In a word-FANTASTIC!!!!

Good times with family and friends. Drinks reasonably priced. Gratuity added. Great for parties. Temperature was good. Not too hot or cold. I wore pants with a short sleeved shirt. Parking is scarce. Carpool is best.

The only time I come to spotlight is when it's not my choice. Like birthday parties. The food is not good at all. The selection is bad and anything we selected was bad. So I bought ohmygogi a few doors down and they let me bring it in.... the drinks are outrageously overpriced for what they are - like $15 for granted strong, but not the best tasting cocktails. I will say everytime I've been there, who ever is at the door and whoever is tending to our private room is always very nice and professional. Whoever you go with truly creates the experience. Also, last time I went there the lyrics displayed the n word with a hard ER at the end. Wasn't too please with that.

This is a great place to enjoy karaoke with friends. The stage is elevated which looks intimidating at first but everyone is there for a good time and will sing along with you. I really like their system for requesting songs. There's a QR code that will take you to a link where you can search for songs, put your name down, and then you'll be placed in a queue until the DJ calls your name. We sat at tables by the bar but you can also book private rooms. The place was really packed on Friday night. Our server was super nice and did her best but I can tell they were very understaffed. There also only appeared to be 2 bartenders behind the bar so it took a while for our drinks to come out. The drink selection was decent. I enjoyed the Henny Lemon Drop. Their menu only had sushi for food options which I found odd at a karaoke bar. They did announce that they were serving other food items so my friend ordered the chicken wings, but the wings were so tiny and not worth the price. Would recommend they improve their food menu to include some bar bites.

I went to Spotlight for my birthday and I had a BLAST! The cost of the rooms can seem a bit pricey but it's definitely worth it if your group is drinking! I love that there were private rooms and an open area. The drinks were good and food is delivered from a food truck.

How I knew nothing of this establishment is beyond me!! Me...the lover of all things karaoke ! It is nestled within the parking lot of an unassuming shopping strip. Located right next door to a crab joint, this place houses rooms filled with fun...karaoke rooms. A friend of mine decided to host a party and rented one of the rooms, but a purveyor of karaoke may feel inclined to remain in the gen ad area. The music in the main space was decent so why not. The room we were in was spacious, housed plenty of seating, and had a private karaoke stage. The drinks left no impression whatsoever but the service was ok. I cannot comment on the food, as you are able to bring in your own, which the hostess did. I will be returning, however, I will not be indulging in any mixed cocktails as they were not worth their steep price tag.

Great atmosphere. Great vibes. Overall good time. I had a private room for a large group. The music selection in the private rooms need to be a lot better. The main stage selection had better up to date music. We went out there a few times. I don't understand why the private rooms have a lot of old music from 90s & early 2000s. It's cool but you want a mixture. Drinks were good but pricey. $14 for a drink. I had the henny lemon drop. I had a few actually LOL. It was very good because I tweaked it. I don't like too sweet alcohol drinks. My request to how my drink was tweaked to my liking was perfect. Parking is horrible! Although the parking lot is big it fills up because there are many businesses in this parking lot. Took me 15mins to find a spot. We didn't have any issues with our server. But she did disappear once we met our drink quota...hmm lol Private room music- 3 stars Private room- 4 stars Service in private room- 4 stars

I had so much fun here I came for a friends birthday party I already had a drink before I came I ordered two more it was two side cars if I'm not mistaken they were good and tasty I immediately walked in and started sing they have a pretty good catalogue of music also the service was nice our waitress checked in on us frequently and made sure everything was good she also brought my drinks back pretty fast. Definitely would recommend they tow bad in that parking lot tho so make sure you park right near the stoplight.

Booked a private room for my graduation party. It was SUCH a great time! The only negative thing I have to say is that we weren't able to order drinks until almost 45 minutes in. Our scheduled bartender was nowhere to be found so Lexi (AMAZING) stepped in and took care of us the whole night. There were a few songs we couldn't find in the library but that didn't stop us from having a great time. Would recommend going and renting a private room with friends! It was a night to remember.

I've been going to Spotlight Karaoke in the Galleria for almost 20 years. While I miss hearing Mr. Lee sing My Way (RIP), I always have a great time!

Booked for my birthday bash and it was a blast!! We were a group of 8 and we're all able to get in at least a song or two each. Drinks were good and heard no complaints from my friends that ordered food. Our bartender was super sweet and made sure we had everything we needed. Once the night got a bit busier obviously it took a bit longer but always super sweet. Will definitely be back!

We celebrated a friend's birthday here. The service was excellent. We were in a private room. They showed us how to use the equipment and the waitress was great. She was very present and attentive. Drinks were well-made. We didn't have any of the food. Great time and one of our groups' favorite celebrations. It was so much fun.

Had the best time celebrating my daughter's 10th birthday here. The staff, bartender and DJ were wonderful and the space was clean and perfect for our party. The kids and parents had so much fun. Highly recommended.

The drinks were meh... there was an extremely rude bartender ! Who almost ruined my entire night. The crowd was great!! I won't come back because there is a cover charge and the service needs to be better.

The food is disgusting. The California rolls...the Crab rangoons that aren't ragoons/puffs but really empanadas with disgusting filling. They offer no exchange/refund, so you're stuck with gross food. Eat before you go!

Service is trash, DJ Joaquin is horrible . Plays favoritism. They say buy a drink to be added to rotation , then but another drink to stay in rotation if you want to sing . I bought plenty of drinks , and still had a drink in my hand . And he let lady who came with me sing but not me instead said because we in the same party I wasn't able to sing . Like I closed two different tabs in there so by all means . Being from LA and this being something I experienced when I come to Houston is trash asf tbh . DONT BELIEVE THE HYPE

Spotlight karaoke really took care of me and my party guest. The price is so reasonable I plan to go back soon and make this a regular place to stop in to party with friends. We had so much fun in the private room we were the last ones to leave at 2am.

Had our office Holiday party here! Great service, nice waiters, our bartender was efficient and the environment was relaxing. We tried to keep things clean and clear, but our servers came around making sure we had nothing to worry about. The DJ didn't know any music after 1999 though lol! This is our second year in a row here and it might become a tradition!

They still have my debit card. I didn't get it from the bar before leaving. We went on Sunday and they were closed Monday.... Uhm... I'm going to need that back sir/mam. We had a blast though. We were loud, drunk and boisterous. I know they couldn't wait until we left lmao. The videos are hilarious!

Came here for a birthday party and had Lots of fun. Nice private room or optional public area to view non birthday party participants, and the drinks were nice as well. I appreciate the fact that they let you bring your own food as well. My only con was that the room was really hot and the waitress seemed really confused on how to handle multiple drink tickets. She not only charged the wrong person's card, but then we were hit with a $90 drink with no listing as to what we were charged for each drink.

We couldn't think of where to have my Daughter's 18th party. So we decided to try spotlight Karaoke and it turned out to be the the best idea. The staff was very kind and accommodating and my daughter and her friends had a great time singing their hearts out. Thanks to Shell, The DJ and bartender for my Mommy drink.

What a fun night! Loved seeing all the amateur talent on the stage; great mix of music and eclectic vibe all around! Servers were fast and friendly... kept the drinks flowing. Wasn't brave enough to sing myself but such a fun evening watching friends sing. Will definitely be back!

Went for my mom's 63rd bday! We reserved a table on the main floor and had us a great time! Our reservation is updated to 9 people more than 24hrs before our reservation but the reservation was still set for 7. It still worked out thought bc there seats at the bar if you get there early. There was a mix and ages on the main floor and everyone was clapping and singing for the other singers. Def coming back!

Atmosphere was nice, but I don't like the idea of having to order a bunch of drinks to sing. Like in order to perform I have to be getting hammered and that's a dangerous game. For a whole table that had rounds for everyone I still had to wait when I ordered my own drink to order another. It just took for my whole karaoke experience.

Best place to come for karaoke they have small bites so delicious! And bartenders are very nice will help you choose drinks if your no expert like me.

This used to be a very cool karaoke bar. Now it's turned into a terrible place to go due to the type of crowds they get now. I wouldn't suggest single women go here any longer. The night myself and a friend pulled up, there was a fight going on and they brought it out to the parking lot. We were scared and got back in our cars and drove home. All those people were very wasted.

I've been booking a private room at this place for years and they never disappoint! The service is always amazing and they aren't out to scam you like most places. I love how straight forward they are and they don't have any hidden fees. They started doing a non refundable cleaning fee which I don't mind because I am always too drunk to clean up so that works out fine for me! I love this place, my family loves this place too! We had a time at spotlight! The drinks are reasonable and the main floor feels like one big party! I'd recommend this place for special events and/or team bonding. My only critique is that they should update the music selections.

Spotlight. Where to begin. I've heard about Spotlight for years and finally made it in. I guess years worth of suspense and up-talk only led to disappointment. My friend organized an event here for her birthday and in Spotlight's defense, she did not make a reservation. So even though we arrived early (9pm), all the tables were reserved and we had no where to sit. There was no sympathy from the staff and some were rude, but we finally found a nice man who let us sit at one of the ends of the long tables near the front stage. The waitstaff was super slow and not polite, nor did she care about our business. I was over it before she even finished taking our first order. There's a table minimum, so we were obligated to buy more. There was a $10 cover, the drinks were average price (~$8/drink), bottled water only and they are expensive $3, the stage is super average, and the sign up list is chaos. I probably won't be back unless I'm obligated to celebrate someone's birthday again.

I will say from the very start that I'm not a big fan of karaoke. I have a terrible voice so you're not going to see me out there belting tunes in the open. So why did I find myself at a karaoke spot on a Saturday evening? For a friend's birthday party. Spotlight is located in a shopping center on Westheimer along with Minuti Coffee and a binch of other businesses. Parking wasn't a problem. As you walk in, there's a large bar in the center. Towards the back is a large stage where the karaoke takes place. Depending on how busy it gets, you may have to wait a while to get your turn. If you want more privacy, you can rent a room for your group. This allows you to do your thing, enjoy the time with your friends, and not worry about sharing the spotlight (pun intended). When it comes to the drinks, I was happy to see that the bartender had a heavy pour. My go-to that night was the always classic rum and Coke. When you receive this drink, and it's clear rather than Coke-colored, you know the bartender has actually hooked you up with a rum with a splash of Coke. It was an interesting night to say the least. A large group of middle-aged women was seated next to us. We had a similarly-sized group of guys. Eventually, they started mingling with us and one of the women was the epitome of a hot mess. It made for an entertaining night. I will say that the crowd was a little ratchet. Something to keep in mind. I know they have another location in Midtown but I haven't been to that one to compare.

Went to Spot Light for the first time last night. The space is great, and the private rooms are very spacious. The waitresses and security were very pleasant. My only complaint is that one of the female bartenders was the rudest bartender I've ever engaged with. She immediately gave me attitude when I ask for a drink that I had seen around the bar (I never saw a menu or a QR code, so I didn't know what it was called). She did get it to me quickly and I stayed at the bar to enjoy the main room Karaoke for about 15 minutes. I was sporadically checking and sipping my drink (from the bar my back was to the karaoke, so I turned around) when suddenly I turned around after about 2-3 minutes and she had removed my half consumed drink without asking me, and had disappeared to the other side of the bar. I have never complained about a waitress/bartender before, I have worked in restaurants and I know how busy it is, but starting the interaction with rudeness and then throwing my drink away with me standing not a foot away from it is completely unacceptable.

I rented a room to have a birthday party. Everything went great. Reserving the room was easy and quick. When I got there Kelly, our waitress went over everything with me and was very patient explaining the procedures for the night. We never had to wait long for her to take orders or bring drinks. Everyone was happy with the food they ordered. Me and my friends were able to be loud and obnoxious and no one cared. I got a status on our party minimum around midnight. We met all our minimums ($300 plus 20% grat) no problem with about 13 people. It was a blast! Every song was available that we wanted. I would go here again, absolutely! Thanks for helping me and my friends have a terrific time!

I've been coming here sometime. Always a good a good time this time was our company Xmas party and it's always fun.

This was a good night out. The set up here was very nice. Though they have a main area stage the private rooms are what makes this place nice to me. The personal rooms allow people to be more free to go on stage. The lyrics to some of the songs were completely off which of course brought down some experiences. I can't speak for the entire group I was with but when I did try to place a drink order it took while to get the waitress and the drink came out to more than I was told. Overall a pretty enjoyable experience place to go.

I went there with a group of friends last week and my car and another person in my parties car were broken into. When I was walking out to go check on my car, the young lady at the entrance made a comment, "they're starting already?" That means they know this is a problem. There were 3 cars vandalized that I could see that night. If this business know this is an issue, they need to hire security or something. So if you choose to drive your vehicle here, there is a strong possibility it will be broken into.

My favorite place for karaoke! Staff are amazing, food is excellent, and always have my music options.

I've been here before and loved it which is why I'm giving the 2 stars. Otherwise, it'd be a one star. Last night they were really busy and here's the problem we had. They charged us a $10 entrance fee for standing room. Fair enough, except that standing room was in the way of waitresses trying to get to and from the bar. At one point they stopped the music and asked everyone in the standing room to move... not sure where they wanted us to go. Waitresses were flashing lights in people's faces to get them to get out of their way... Also, I turned in my song and the DJ tells me there is a 2 hour wait in que. We didn't want to wait two hours standing there constantly being asked to move with lights flashing in our faces and when there wasn't anywhere to go.. so we left. If the club is packed stop letting ppl in and charging them $$ got entrance.

Spotlight is not what it used to be! This used to be the place to be. Well, not anymore. Two of my friends had birthday parties here and we waited over 2 hours for the DJ to call us to sing. He kept calling the same people over and over again. When the bday girl asked why he hadn't chosen her yet, the DJ said he EXPECTED a tip first. I'm sorry but WHAT?! We just paid $10 each to get in and there were about 25-30 of us. Then, we were buying drinks and food non-stop. And, this guy has the audacity to say no tip no song? BYE Spotlight! Furthermore, the waiter brought my fiancé the wrong food, then the waitress ran over & started yelling at him like it was his fault. He asked for a refund and she told him, "No". Really? Go get the manager girl... We got our refund and left that place, never to return again.

I haven't been to this location in YEARS. It was VERY crowded, and pretty dirty. I just felt like I had to instantly shower as soon as I left.... I witnessed a server get into a really big argument with a customer. There was a $10 fee just to get in. Completely NOT worth it. We will not be returning to this Karaoke place.

There's just a lot going on at Spotlight. I wasn't really sure if people knew what they were doing or making it up as they go. A couple of our friends never had their song come up after being there for hours, so that was disappointing considered we all had to pay a cover. Probably will only be back if there's a private room.

We came right when this place opened up and no one really was there. You can actually bring your own food in here before 9. No drinks though This place is pretty small in the main area. I like how you pick a song from the computers in the back and write it on a paper and the DJ or whatever he's called puts it on. The place is very dingy. They even serve sushi, not sure if I would trust it. Place doesn't look very sanitary. Js. The waitress was nice and checked on us frequently. You do have to spend money to sing. The restrooms were not very clean and I get how the chairs are so close together at the tables. I'm guessing that is how they get you to rent a private room. Overall we had a good time.

I'm here at the moment and our screen has frozen SEVEN times, even erase the whole list, in our private room for our birthday girl. We've only been here under two hours. We understand technically difficulties but the fact that we've been in quietness for 15 minutes is unacceptable. Definitely ruined the mood for the birthday girl, she was ready to go home but we have been trying to cheer her up to stay and she has not been happy.

The atmosphere was okay. Not enough seating but we managed to squeeze in. Overall, good time. The cover charge is $10 (there are free ones available). The DJ, for some reason, refused to play my song - even after promising I was next. He let everyone go ahead of me. I was done when he called the last song and told me if the next guy wasn't there he'd let me sing. I paid $10 for nothing. The drinks are reasonable, on the high side, but not watered down.

This place has a cover charge and the drinks are trash and the food even worse on a paper plates and they will not exchange it the manger was nasty when I asked l will never come to this place again to have spending money and being treated rudely

Wayyyy too much fun here! A couple of friends and I rented out a private room for our Annual Ugly sweater Christmas party. What's a BLAST! From N'sync (bye bye bye) to Mariah Carey's, All I want for Christmas, we sang our hearts out! Our waitress was extremely attentive! We were told we needed to spend about $400 in drinks, for the room rental. That was easy, we had about 30 people show up. I also thought it was cool they let us bring in food. There was a table where we set up our Wings, cookies and other food trays. All in All, a freaking fun time and I cant wait to go back!

So, it's true that Spotlight Karaoke (the Westheimer location) is not located in the most glamorous of strip centers. But damn, they will show you a good time. My friend and I really like to karaoke. And it was going to be my birthday. So I called up Spotlight Karaoke to reserve a room. The process was seamless, and Charlie (the manager/owner) is very prompt and very responsive. He calls you personally to make sure your reservation is taken care of. You do need a deposit to hold the room, and you have to meet a specific tab in order to pay for the room. We arrived to check out the room. We had probably one of their largest rooms, which can host 20-25 (I included a photo). It was... enormous. It was pleasantly shocking how amazing this room was My friend immediately commented that it was like the champagne room of karaoke clubs. And yes, yes it was. The sound system and mics are extremely easy to use. My 85-year-old grandmother could probably do it. The volume is easy to adjust. And as a technology consultant, let me just pause here and take a moment for how grateful I am for Spotlight's INCREDIBLE song search. This is how karaoke should be done. NO REMOTES and NO OUTDATED SONG LISTS and NO PUNCHING IN STUPID SONG NUMBERS- just a computer and keyboard to type in the name of the song or artist, and bam, the database returns all items matching your search criteria. Double-click, and the song is added. IT IS SO EASY. IT IS AMAZING. So our queue got started with some Trey Songz and Backstreet Boys. Michelle, our excellent waitress, was always available and very attentive. We were able to request that she open tabs for people separately, and she did an amazing job. There was cake, there was Hennessy, there was dancing, and yes, there was belting out of Adele and Lauryn Hill. The private room reservations last for the entire night till the bar closes out at 2AM. It was an epic night. Pretty much everyone said it was the best time they had ever had karaoke-ing. Cheers, Spotlight!
