Where to Enjoy D.C. Bar Deals During the Presidential Debate - Eater DC

"This new political-themed restaurant will be showing the debate on multiple televisions and serving two $25 dinner specials for the occasion: the All American, which comes with two draft beers and a half dozen buffalo or barbecue wings, and the Pizza Party, with two glasses of sangria and a pepperoni or cheese flatbread included." - Emily Venezky

Where to Find a Great Bite After 10 p.m. in D.C.

"Located at the foot of the recently renovated Marriott Metro Center, Spotted Zebra — named for the famous quote by former VP Al Gore — pays homage to political D.C. lore. A “Bureaucratic” bar bites menu, served until midnight daily, features spreads, a wedge salad, burgers, and flatbreads. Highlights include the “People’s Pretzels” with beer cheese and creole mustard; the Presidential PB&J, a grown-up version of the childhood classic made with grilled Lyon Bakery rustico bread, peanut butter, strawberry jelly, and Noble Star Ranch maple pepper bacon; and “Left to Right Wing Politics” with a Buffalo-blue cheese dipper. For breakfast for dinner, a B.E.C. sandwich on sourdough features cage-free eggs and Tillamook cheddar." - Vinciane Ngomsi, Tierney Plumb

I met a friend here before a Capitals game. I didn’t know it was also connected to the hotel. It was seat yourself so we were at the bar. I had the Cesar salad with shrimp and the crispy fried brussel sprouts. The croutons (homemade sourdough) were the star of the salad that was otherwise ok. The brussel sprouts were so dang tasty and one of my contenders for the best thing I have ate this year. The service was ok, the bar was busy and it took a bit to pay but my company and I didn’t mind. The drink menu had a lot of gin beverages and I’m not a fan so I skipped alcohol and opted for water and a cup of coffee.

The Spotted Zebra is located in the Marriott at Metro Center so I ate here a couple of times as a hotel guest. I ordered room service one night and got the Winning Ticket Brisket Sandwich and Fries. It was delicious but I wished it would have been delivered warmer. I can only imagine how good it would have tasted if they delivered it as soon as it was ready. I also had the Cheesecake and the sauce had spilled all in the bag when I received it. Flavor-wise, it was a bit bland and not a very good cheesecake. I didn’t even finish it. A couple of days later, I dined in the restaurant for breakfast. There wasn’t table service and we ordered at a window (which seemed odd). The All American (Eggs, Bacon, Potatoes) was cooked well but seasoning was lacking on the eggs and potatoes. The bacon was delicious. It was odd that toast wasn’t included and I had to purchase that separately. The sourdough toast was a good size but I didn’t really taste that sour taste that I usually get when dining at other places. The Spotted Zebra was convenient since I stayed at the hotel but I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here.

We were there for two night. The foods are fabulous. The services are a bit slow, but friendly. We are not in a hurry and don’t mind.

Google
Newly opened restaurant in Marriott Metro Center. They have an extensive food menu and a full bar. Nice staff and the renovation to The Spotted Zebra from the old Fire & Sage restaurant is a huge improvement.

The hamburger was awful. Old bread, disgusting meat, old lettuce. Literally Burger King is better. My beer was slightly cold but not much. I was shocked how terrible an experience I had.

Yelp
We received personal and professional service and attention during our visit to Spotted Zebra. They were missing an ingredient for the mocktail that was on the menu but I described the flavor profile I was looking for and the bartender created a lovely drink that tasted just as I had hoped. My husband ordered a burger and fries and said both were delicious. I got the pretzel appetizer which I ate alongside a bowl of Butternut Squash soup. Both were hot, fresh and tasty. We finished in plenty of time to walk to the Warner Theatre to attend a concert.

Yelp
Food was delicious. I ordered soup and Presidential PB&J. They came out at the same time. Service started poor. I couldn't figure out how to enter and then called twice only to get a vm. Then I saw people entering from hotel. I found a table and no one came to get my order. I walked up to the kitchen and asked for service. 2 women behind the bar could not be bothered to walk to my table. I will say in the end service got better. If I stay nearby again I will know to make sure I make my presence known. Ambience was nice. The loudest noise came from the kitchen crew.

Yelp
We decided to eat at the Spotted Zebra in the Marriott prior to enjoying a concert in town. Our server, Andre, was very attentive and very friendly. The food was fantastic and my cocktail was delicious. The atmosphere is nice and casual, and the prices are not too bad considering you are in the heart of DC.

Yelp
I realized relatively late at night that I still hadn't used my $25 destination fee credit for food and beverage at the hotel. Since I don't often drink, I chose to use it to get a salad; it's good to get some vegetables in yourself when you are traveling! This restaurant is seat yourself. My server, Andre, greeted me promptly with water and the menu and, when I was ready to order, delivered my request quickly to the kitchen. The chicken was juicy and the salad with the cilantro dressing was just what the doctor ordered. I am especially impressed with the prices here. All that for $18 in DC?! I did some work while I sat and ate, but the ambiance is a bit loud for long-term work here.

Yelp
I have eaten here twice. Had the BEC for breakfast. The bread was fresh and the sandwich was delicious. I had the Presidential PBJ and bacon sandwich for dinner. The bread was amazing and the sandwich was served warm. One of the best sandwiches I have had in my life. No lie.

Yelp
The Spotted Zebra has just recently opened up inside the Washington Marriott at Metro Center, and they serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late-night eats. Their menu is interesting, as their items are named after political quotes from various orators. We came here for an early dinner, and we tried: +Left to Right Wing Politics - buttermilk ranch-marinated wing, served with a buffalo-bleu cheese dip +The People's Pretzels - soft pretzel sticks with beer cheese and creole mustard for dips +the Winning Ticket Brisket - one of their sandwiches; this was beef brisket, Tillamook cheddar cheese, and sauteed onions between sourdough, served with fries +Swing State Salmon - 60 South salmon, PA mushroom ragout, fennel-potato puree, and candied lemon drizzle +Capital Crab Cakes - MD-style jumbo lump crab cakes, served with a warm cabbage slaw, lemon-caper tomato butter sauce, and fingerling potatoes +and, a Metropolitan Mushroom flatbread - topped with wild mushrooms, truffle oil, shredded fresh mozzarella, and a cream sauce We haven't tried any of their cocktails, but they seem to be pretty popular for the diners. Staff are friendly, but the service is more on the slower end, considering there weren't many people dining. Restricted metered street parking and valet is available; there are also some garage parking nearby. +slow service +valet, metered, and garage parking available +located in the Marriott at Metro Center

Yelp
Service is slow and not efficient. Food is okay. And we were the only ones in the restaurant!!!

Yelp
Spent 3 nights at the Marriott Metro Center in DC and the best meals that we had were in the hotel restaurant. The Brisket sandwich was loaded with flavorful and juicy brisket. I had a Chesapeake Omelette that had more jumbo lump crabmeat in it than most crab cakes! I wish we had eaten EVERY meal there. Service was prompt and polite.

Yelp
I ordered room service and it was quick! I ordered a pepperoni flatbread and kid's sundae. The flatbread was delicious!!

Yelp
Flatbread pizza and cocktails. The cocktails were delish. The pizzas were good, but not really what I would call a flatbread. More like traditional pizza crust in a rectangle. Very convenient. Attentive service.

Yelp
Great food, friendly service. We ate here a few times during our stay and would recommend it.

Yelp
This place is located in the Marriott Metro Center. You seat yourself for dinner. There's a QR code at the table and it says to use it for ordering. Then as you're deciding, a server walks up and takes your order. The food comes out piping hot which I do appreciate. It is tasty and not over priced. It's clean and looks newly renovated. I'd recommend this place.
