The Philly Hangover Guide: What to Eat After Drinking

"With locations from Wayne to Rittenhouse, the Montreal-style bagels at Spread Bagelry have long remained a go-to hangover remedy for many. Order one of their classic bagel and schmear options or opt for a bagel sandwich stacked with pastrami, brisket, or lox. Order online for pickup or delivery." - Jillian Wilson

I didn’t enjoy this spot for a couple reasons. Overpriced, mediocre quality and minimal effort service. I gave it shot because the reviews but disappointed overall. The bagels taste similar to a roll, no chew or pull to the outer layer. I asked for my bagel to be toasted the employee responded with they already come out hot - the bagel wasn’t even warm when I got it because they leave the front door wide open! It was 20degrees outside and freezing inside so I asked the employee if they keep the door open during the winter all the time and he replied yes it helps with steam. We got our food and left with the intention of not coming back after tasting the food our intention was reassured.

Google
Stopped in for a breakfast sandwich and was underwhelmed considering the lox bagel ended up being $16 and some change with tax. The bagel had a great texture and all the ingredients were fresh and flavorful, it just didn’t wow me for it being more expensive than most other bagel places in the city. The store itself was also dirty, there was dust everywhere and it wasn’t inviting to want to sit and eat there.

Google
I find that this location can be really hit or miss. I've had some really great sandwiches here, I've also had some very mediocre ones too. They can get extremely busy in the mornings and waits can get long, sometimes prolonged by completely missing your order. I love ordering the Frittata Scramble sandwich (egg, bacon, smoked cheddar, tomatoes, and strawberry jam-- sooo yummy) but sometimes they just kind of completely screw up the sandwich with the eggs falling off one side and nothing on the other. The food here CAN be good, but quality noticeably decreases when they're busy. Coffee here is always amazing. Sea salt caramel and pistachio lattes are soooo good. Never a complaint there. The rosemary bagel is also perfect and my favorite to get. Overall good spot for a bagel/coffee/breakfast sandwich, but maybe avoid when it's already busy.

Google
Was craving a bagel and ventured into Spread Bagelry for a Carnegie Breakfast - egg, Swiss cheese, and pastrami on your choice of bagel. Felt like a quaint local neighborhood spot and it was decently steady on the Sunday morning that I visited with plenty of people coming to dine in and those ordering/picking up to-go. I didn't think too much of the wait at first because it was busy, but after a handful of patrons had long ordered and received their food before I had, I came up to the cashier to ask about mine. I don't know if my ticket didn't show up on their screens or if it was overlooked, but i ended up waiting even longer before it was done. I apparently wasn't the only one whose order wasn't made/overlooked /lost because a gentleman who was already waiting on food when I first stepped in line experienced the same long wait. I don't know if that's a regular thing that happens or if the staff was swamped, I'm not sure. I finally got my order and even after a 10 minute walk back to my hotel, my bagel was still nice and warm. The eggs were nicely seasoned and the Swiss cheese was a nice touch, however the pastrami was slightly lacking in quantity. On the plus side though, the pastrami was delicious and the bagel overall hit the spot. All in all, not a bad place for a breakfast sandwich. It might be more on the pricey side but I think it's still worth checking out despite the experience I had.

Google
Delicious bagels and bagel sandwiches. You can’t go wrong with any of their sandwiches but I recommend getting something with cream cheese. The cream cheese is the best texture and taste I’ve ever had (including fresh NYC and Montreal bagels). Took two containers and a half dozen for home and they travel well—I recommend steaming them first then toasting as they can get a bit hard. The picture I took is from three days later. There’s a decent amount of tables at this location but make sure to come before 11:30 as it fills up fast. Coffee is also really good, don’t miss out on the orange blossom latte.

Google
We stopped in Spread Bagelry for a late morning Sunday breakfast. The venue is quite large with several tables and a bar section which was unused at the time. I order The Standard with bacon, egg, and cheese. They were out of everything bagels so I tried a salted egg for the first time. The bagel wasn't my favorite but the sandwich was well made. The bacon was crispy, the eggs were scrambled well and there was loads of cheese in every bite. I paired this with a hot chocolate made with oat milk. They also have soy, almond, and non-dairy milk as alternatives. My girlfriend ordered a Fritatta Scramble on a cinnamon raisin bagel and liked hers as well. She ordered a caramel iced latte to wash it down. They had the Eagles game on as we were leaving. There were other patrons hanging out or studying. Nice location for a good breakfast sandwich. Next time I’d like to try one of their many cream cheese flavors.

Google
Love love love my first Montreal- Style sesame bagel at Spread!!!!Being married to a New Yorker , I learned to instantly freeze any extra New York Bagels to take home to Virginia- but Philly, you have opened my eyes to the amazing taste of Montreal bagels at Spread’s Bagelry!!! Thank goodness my sons live in Philly so we will be back with freezer bags!! Cozy and warm atmosphere and the managers and staff were so very kind.

Google
Incredible bagels. I don't care if these are 'original' bagels or whatever... all I know is they're one of the things I miss most about Philly, their bagels are just incredible. Saturday mornings at Spread were a whole vibe: the fire in the oven, the amazing smell, and people chatting while waiting for their fresh bagels. Great spot.

Yelp
Forget about NYC Bagels for a sec: this one takes the CAKE!! Impeccable, consistent and savory that has kept its charm for YEARS with its BYOB alcohol policy, oven roasted bagels, and irresistible combinations like the "Egg White" with lite Swiss, truffled mushrooms, Turkey bacon and egg white. You can feel the scent of freshly baked bagels, each one stacked high with bold, creative toppings. The bagels are soft yet perfectly toasted, and characteristic ambiance of classy chic somehow works despite being served coffee and bagels. Whether you're craving a classic or something a little more adventurous, there's gonna be something for your palate. I was blown away by the variety and to more inventive options like the artichoke parm cream cheese paired with a poppy seed bagel. The balance of flavors in every bite is incredible, and the freshness of the ingredients makes all the difference. If you're a bagel lover or simply looking to try something new, this shop is worth every penny. And you'll just keep coming back for more no matter where you live...

Yelp
My favorite bagels in Philly! Wood fired so the outside gets crispy but its still soft inside. Good variety of spreads including a salmon cream cheese which is good. I recommend the Rosemary olive oil bagel. Not a lot of seating but good for take out.

Yelp
You can't go wrong with any pick here! You could practically go everyday for a month and try something new each time, so many delicious options! The service is quick. They have great lattes made in house with multiple milk and flavor options. All the bagels are wonderful, the rosemary is my absolute favorite! They offer a variety of different bagel sandwich options, ranging from out-of-the-box to classics. There is absolutely something for everyone here- as basic or adventurous as you want to be!

Yelp
Very bad service, Overpriced. The UPenn location has real problems. They don't treat their clients properly

Yelp
I ordered tuna salad on an egg bagel. It was life changing. Bagel was good, but the tuna salad was fantastic. I think it had some shrimp or crab in it as well. When I have a bagel brunch, this is my go-to order so I've had them from many many other stores. Ever ordered a common item that was just a level above? I came into the shop in Wayne at noon on a Saturday. The order was up in less than 5 minutes and the server helped me understand how bagels are actually made (kettle & oven) and the meaning of "Montreal style" bagels. The shop really clean, with creative wood tables. Someone was in the corner comfortably fielding a Zoom meeting on her laptop, a table of high school students was gaggling and parents & children were lunching. A really great find.

Candice G.

Yelp
it wasn't bad but my bagel was super hard which made it kind of hard to enjoy it. Also it was made a little sloppy the garlic aioli was every where. I would go back I would just have to let them know how I want my sandwich made.
google avatar

Yelp
The bagels taste as if they were made fresh, which is great, but they have a hint of sweetness to them that I just don't like. They also don't have the "chew" that I'm looking for. However, they are fresh and bready and fill up my belly . Their spread is extremely good.

Brian M.

Yelp
Delicious bagels. Pretty place. Fair prices. Fast service. I honestly went in there looking for a bathroom (upset stomach and a plane to catch!), but came out with a great coffee (they use a Philly local, La Colombe, which is amazing coffee) and, then as I was about to leave with only that, decided that the smell and look of the bagels were irresistible, and so, ordered a bagel with cream cheese to go too. My only small complaint is that I never was able to use the "facilities," as they didn't have one available to me. My hometown, Chicago, could use a few of these places! Btw, the bagel was great!!!
google avatar

Emily L.

Yelp
This place was great. It was warm and inviting with good service. The bagels are delicious and they have a wood fire oven that is super cool. I got the egg white sandwich. It came out very quick. My only complaint was that it was a bit messy and oily. Just a bit less oil and it would have been perfect. The cinnamon raisin bagel my friend got was also good but nothing too crazy. Overall, solid bagel and coffee place with a nice homey vibe inside.

Yelp
I've been coming here for years and the service and quality has gone way, way down. I think it's the most popular location? Which is why it's so confusing that it's so incredibly bad. Ex. The new sandwich with hollandaise? They put a PILE of hollandaise, no one needs that much. Plus it tastes terrible. Ex. The Carnegie breakfast sandwich? Assembled with the meat all contained on one half of the sandwich, which leaves the other half as just egg and cheese if you don't adjust it. Ex. Frittata scramble? The tomato quality has gone way down and tastes terrible, ruins the whole sandwich. They don't care. The service is complete trash, if the register staff aren't there then everyone ignores you. And the register staff are constantly turning over. To add to all of this, the place is constantly filled with smoke to the extent that it is 1000% a health hazard. They don't care. No one cares. This place SCREAMS of no one caring about quality, service, or even their own health. I'm so disappointed that I have to write this but I've had enough of what should be a staple but is instead a giant let down.

Yelp
I keep getting disappointed by Spread, so I think I'm done. The reason? I always find the bagels to have a bitter taste from a little bit of char, which I do not find appealing. Spread is also super popular, so it takes a long time for your order to come out - including if you order in advance online - so for me, the combination of a so-so bagel and a long wait are not worth it. Warning: If you have any respiratory issues, you might want to stay outside this small eatery. The bagels are made with a wood-fire in front of you, which is actually pretty cool to watch, but smoke tends to fill the space. You will definitely leave with your clothes smelling like a campfire and even without an underlying respiratory illness, I felt a twinge of bronchospasm in my chest.

Mike H.

Yelp
This review soley for the store on route 202. I go in at 11:30 am, and ask for a dozen plain bagels. The kid behind the counter says he only has 2 plain bagels and they aren't making any more. They have 3 hours til closing! So they are standing around watching the paint dry and not taking money for 3 hours? Something definitely wrong here!!

Yelp
I think these Montreal style bagels are amazing. Thinner and freshly wood fired. I usually get an everything bagel. I had the lox sandwich which is good. The maple bacon cream cheese is good if you like sweet cream cheese, the scallion is amazing and the lox spread is good but not worth the money, IMO. Coffee is decent, they sometimes run out of black tea. I always go when I am in Philly or Bryn Mawr (they have several locations in the area.)
google avatar

Danielle N.

Yelp
these are not your typical jersey bagel! They are a Montreal style bagel. They are very crispy on the outside, so really great if you're looking for that crunch. I personally prefer a softer bagel overall. What I do like about this place is the really unique flavors and that the bagels are truly stuffed! This is definitely really nice place to go to if you're looking for something out of the ordinary aside from your basic pork roll egg and cheese bagel. They have a lot of different types of cream cheese that I have not tried yet. The staff are always very nice and the place is so beautiful inside. It is small, but decorated so nicely. Overall really unique flavors, not my personal favorite but if you're looking for a crunch bagel with really unique toppings then this is the place for you. I also tried their Apple chai and that was very yummy as well.

Yelp
I've been going to Spread for my bagels since I've been in Philly. I'm from NYC, and am temporarily in Philadelphia, and am very discerning about my bagels. The taste and quality of Spread bagels is as good as any I've had in NYC, and better then many! I prefer sesame - Spread's bagels are completely covered with the seeds! I usually get it well toasted with about 1/2 the cream cheese that typically comes with it. The bagel's taste with that cream cheese is magical - it's my Sunday morning comfort food!
google avatar

Lin C.

Yelp
I would still say pre-order the bagels for pick up, but make sure you check what's inside before you leave so you don't have to make a trip back to the store. Out of all the bagel options in the city, this would still be my go to because of the texture being so close to how Montreal bagels are, and also the different cream cheeses they carry.

Yelp
Was down visiting and was looking for a good bagel place the morning we left. We walked by this place a couple times and said we should give it a try. The bagel flavors were fun, I had the Rosemary Sea Salt with Lox and it was delicious. My boyfriend got the everything bagel and got the egg white added, it has spinach, turkey bacon and truffle mushrooms. It was good! There was a line and a little bit of a back up that morning but they moved fast for a small prep kitchen. It was cute inside and had seating and bar seats, but we had taken them back to our hotel.

Yelp
I spread my wings and landed over in this Montreal style bagel joint. The inside is pretty neat, and I really enjoyed the freest aspect of everything. The wood fire takes over the entire store front and it's the first thing that hits you in the face. Very neat. The underwhelming part of this joint is the price and the mishap I had with my order. See below... What I snagged: -Whitefish everything bagel with all the fixings. (Bagel isn't better than any NY bagel, but it'll do. What wasn't great was the bone found in my white fish that got stuck between my teeth. I get it, it's fresh, but come on) Overall, cool experience, but not sure I'll be back. Pricing wise, the whitefish was a little steep. Roughly $12-13.

Yelp
True Life: I am addicted to Spread Bagelry. I did not know anything about Montreal Style bagels until Spread opened up in my neighborhood, but I've decided they're my favorite. My order is consistently a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich on a toasted everything bagel. It is consistently delicious every time and worth every penny. Spread is popular so a visit on the weekends could result in a longer than preferred wait time. My recommendation is to order ahead online! This option has never failed me. Sometimes I even opt for their delivery service because when I'm typically the most in the mood for a breakfast sandwich, I'm not feeling up for a walk to pick it up. Definitely my favorite bagel spot in the city, without question!

Leslea W.

Yelp
I placed an order for the morning of my son's wedding on a Saturday earlier in the week. When we arrived at the agreed-upon time to pick the order up, they did not have it. Because of time restrictions, my other son who was picking up just placed an alternate order on the spot. When I went back in WITH my receipt to get a refund for the goods we never received, the unbelievably rude men working the counter said they couldn't do it! Then they called "a manager" who transcribed on one guy's phone a message that said too much time had passed, even though when I ran in on that Saturday with time I did not have to quickly get the refund, I was told I could go back in to get the refund at a later date since I was in a hurry. I have called the headquarters, but, of course, no one answered. As of now, Spread owes me over $40 and no one seems to "know how" to simply refund me and management has not replied. What a horrible experience in my neighborhood bagelry. Beware of the location on S 20th, the employees are inept and incredibly rude.

Yelp
Okay, second chance review. Ordered an everything bagel not toasted with cream cheese (no drink) = total bill $4.05. This is just a warning for those that will have sticker shock as this trumps the most expensive bagel with cream cheese I have purchased in a long time. The bagel is crisp, almost cakey, and a very ample serving of whipped cream cheese is lathered on both faces of the bagel. As I was eating this bagel which was cut down the middle so we have four portions to eat and really dissect the flavor I noticed a recurring bitter taste. I can say this is a unique establishment and I love that it exists but I prefer a doughy fresh bagel and not oven baked. I would bring guests coming to Philly to try this spot and I see myself returning probably twice a month that is unless a Manhattan Bagels opens up a location closer to me.
google avatar

Julia D.

Yelp
My first time trying this place and I'm glad I found it! I was looking for a quick breakfast sandwich in the city since the usual places I go to were closed. I got the egg white sandwich and the iced ginger chai latte. Both were delicious! The bagel tasted fresh and my sandwich was ready within minutes. I will definitely be back! (:
google avatar

Danielle M.

Yelp
Delicious sandwich made with fresh veggies, well seeded everything bagel and flavorful veggie cream cheese. friendly and quick service; great location.

Sam B.

Yelp
I just waited 20 minutes for my pickup order and it was ready the entire time. The girl Working the front is too unorganized and shouldn't be in charge of getting the orders ready in fast and timely manner. I witnessed her ignoring customers and taking her time walking over to the register. If you want your order quick I would go in store verses ordering it online. I won't go back!
google avatar

Olney Rob W.

Yelp
Read the reviews. I have eaten here a few times because I usually stay in RItt Sq when I visit Philly. I always order a bacon, egg and cheese on an everything bagel (not toasted). They usually screw it up and toast the bagel. They did it again today. They way overtoasted the bagel and overcooked the bacon. I have finally given up on this place. If I wasn't hungry, I would have thrown it out. There is a much better bagel place in So Philly, but it is a 30 minute walk and I didn't feel like it today. I was in NYC last week and their bagels are night and day from bagels in other cities. Philly is no exception. Philly has exceptional restaurants and bakeries, but Spread Bagelry is pretty bad. Not sure how they have lasted so long in an upscale area that generally commands better food. There is another one on South Street that gets the orders right, but they still have the same underwhelming bagels.

Mouse _.

Yelp
they put cheese on my breakfast sandwich even though I didn't want any. it was ridiculously overpriced and sandwich took far too long to arrive considering the shop is so close to me. 1 star will never return.

Yelp
First visit. THE CLASSIC $12.00 Smoked Nova Salmon or Homemade Whitefish Salad, Cream Cheese, Vine Ripe Tomato and Onion *opted for the smoked nova salmon, regular cream cheese and vine ripe tomato. *bagel was a bit on the dry almost cake-y side, the tomato overpowered the salmon in both taste and texture and I think it was a beefsteak tomato versus a vine ripe tomato, cream cheese was ample but next time I would opt for the spring onion scallion or smoked nova salmon cream cheese instead *also wish there was an option for capers for some much needed salt
google avatar

Yelp
Place looked good and we were wanting something a little more local than Starbucks or Dunkin' for breakfast. However, we were informed as we walked in that they were completely out of bagels. This was at like 9 AM on a Wednesday. I understand there is shipment shortages, etc. but that's crazy. So, we had to gag down Starbucks breakfast sandwiches instead...

Yelp
Always chill. Always good I go to Spread near Rittenhouse Sq. The bagels and sandwiches are always jut what you want, when you want that kind of sandwich. The staff is always super chill. TheY are friendly and work their butts off but never give attitude. Pretty rare today. I don't live in Philly but wish there was a Spread near me.

Yelp
I haven't been to a lot of bagel places in the city, so I don't have a lot to compare to, but I will say that Spread set the bar pretty high so far! I was craving a breakfast sandwich and thought I might make it a little heartier by getting a bagel one specifically which led to searching for a solid bagel place nearby me. Spread has a really impressive selection of all kinds of bagel sandwiches, and so their menu got me hooked initially. I'm so glad I ordered from here - the kinds of bagels they have is also pretty varied too. I got The Club on a sesame bagel (turkey, cheddar, bacon, apple, and honey mustard mayo) and my partner got the Carnegie Breakfast (pastrami, eggs, provolone) on an everything bagel. The bagels were nicely toasted and were stuffed to the brim - we were both really happy with our orders. Everything was really delicious, the meats were good and the cheese was melty, and the combination overall was just delicious. We also ordered whitefish on the side to go, and another time carried out a half dozen bagels with their scallion cream cheese and were super happy with this as well. Their cream cheese spread selection is great and also just so delicious and has a unique whipped kind of texture to it. During COVID they make it easy to order takeout - you can walk up or do online and take it to go. Next time you need bagel sandwiches or just a bagel order, I would definitely recommend Spread.

Yelp
I used to order bagels from them regularly - the food is good (not quite as good as NY bagels (such as H&H), but still good and still delivered. Now there web site is so glitchy. It has switched my order from delivery to pick up. Then it told me to order from a different location (yes the website makes you decide which one to order from). After cycling through several locations I finally found one that would take my order...but wait - NO! - It tells me my address - a regular house address in the city is not a valid address. I went on their website to give feedback but no obvious option. So here is my feed back. Is the food still good - how can I know if I can't get it?

Yelp
I revisited today and it took 35 minutes to wait for our order and when we received found it to be extremely disappointing. Will never return here again.
google avatar

Joshua M.

Yelp
Just ordered 2 bagels and a coffee, almost $20 worth of food only to pick it up (5 minutes before the scheduled pick up time) and everything was cold. Coffee was cold and both toasted bagels were cold and dry. Ordered the nova salmon spread on one bagel, there was "almost" a sliver or salmon in the spread. ‍ Don't order for pick up. Just wait, at least you know it will be hot.

Yelp
A premium price for a sloppy mess! I ordered avocado toast for me and my girlfriend. We were shocked when we opened the box. "Where is the avocado?" The bagels were carelessly topped with ingredients sliding off the side or down the middle whole. It was just sad! The surface of bagel was stained green by a few lonely avocado molecules. Without exaggeration I can say that it was the worst attempt at avocado toast I've ever seen (and I've seen many). Also, the coffee we ordered was weak and cold. We asked them to make it for us again and the woman made us coffee from the exact same coffee machine as before. To no one's surprise, it was the exact same experience. She then tried to convince us that the coffee was in fact hot, despite it clearly not being hot. We requested a full refund, then we went around the corner to Ultimo where we were able to get coffee that was actually hot (and strong). I was told that the manager of Spread will be contacting me by the end of the day. Needless to say, I would never recommend this place, nor would I ever return.

Yelp
I have my favorite bagel place in New York and I'm trying to find good bagels in Philly. Not impressed with this store - average tasting bagel. Their garlic bagel tasted burnt. The bagels don't look/taste fresh and I had a difficult time deciding if I received moldy bagels ...

Brad S.

Yelp
Went on a Sunday. Waited about 45 minutes for 2 bagels. Tons and tons of online pickup orders came in and left with food while we were waiting. My lox bagel was just mixed into the cream cheese, rather than actual lox, with way too much cream cheese, a tomato slice and two pieces of onion. Definitely should not have taken that long to make. The table next to us was equally delayed getting their orders and annoyed. The bagel itself was fine. Next time would just order a bagel to go and make a sandwich at home.
google avatar

Yelp
Bagel w cream cheese took 25 min at noon. Coffee took 15 min. Bagel taste is actually tart which is nearly impossible to believe. This place needs to take a serious look at their management. Would not survive east of the hudson river

Yelp
Solid bagels. Spread Bagelry is always busy (on weekdays, weekends, for breakfast, even lunch), and I get why. I find Spread's bagels to be similar to those I had in Montreal, with that slightly denser texture and wood-fired taste. After a year away from Philly, I visited Spread late on a weekday morning on my way out of town and found Spread to be as tasty as always. Bagel prices range from $3.50 for the basic bagel with cream cheese to $12 for a sizable pastrami bagel sandwich. I'm a fan of the nova scramble (scrambled egg and smoked salmon cream cheese for $8.50) and the Greek bagel sandwich special (salmon, tzatziki sauce, and red onion for ~$11), and my sister almost always goes for the standard (scrambled eggs, bacon, and cheese for $7). Spread's prices, though a bit high, are in line with other bagel places in Center City, and for me, their bagel sandwiches so filling, I can usually stretch them over breakfast and lunch. There are some tables at in the front window and at the back of the place, but as seats are hard to come by, I usually get bagels to go. Because the place is so busy, the most popular bagel flavors (sesame apparently) often run out on the weekends, but on the flip side, the bagels are always super fresh. Service is not particularly friendly - just make sure you know what you're ordering before you get to the front of the line and you'll be fine. The ordering line moves pretty fast, but after that, prep time for each order does take another 15+ minutes. I never felt like I had to write a review for Spread because they always have lines out the door, but their 3.5 star rating on Yelp surprised me. If you like bagels, can accept that Spread's bagels are Montreal-style, not New York-style, and are willing to wait a bit, I'd recommend stopping by Spread Bagelry for some toothsome, loaded bagel sandwiches. P.S. If you go on the weekend, be prepared to be regaled by live accordion music while you stand in line.

Edward P.

Yelp
Apparently the staff at 20th St. can't follow simple online orders. This has happened on multiple occasions at this location. The breakfast bagels were not what we ordered, were stale and had a nasty bitter taste. We won't be ordering from Spread Bagelry again.

Yelp
Spread consistently messes up orders, it seems they should improve the service at their flagship store before opening all their new branches down South (where people maybe don't know much about bagels but they certainly know about service). Its hard to accurately judge their food if they never get the orders right. Spread has clearly expanded too much and the food is no longer the focus - making money is.

Yelp
I ordered an egg white and turkey bacon on an everything bagel. Well the turkey bacon is so greasy that I just paid $11 for a heart attack. The bagel is soggy and definitely not like a jersey bagel. If you are hungover then order this at your own risk, but if you are trying to be health conscious this is probably not the sandwich for you.

Yelp
Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars We visited this Spread Bagelry location twice on a recent trip to Philly. The first trip was on a Sunday morning and we ordered 1 regular bagel, 1 pizza bagel, and 1 iced latte. We waited close to 30 minutes for our food to be ready, which was ridiculous. The bagels were delicious, but not worth a 30 minute wait. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed in my iced latte and would not buy coffee from Spread in the future. We visited again on a Monday morning and had a much faster experience, although we ordered 2 regular bagels with cream cheese that required no cooking or toasting, which made the order much quicker to make. If you are in a rush, avoid Spread Bagely on a weekend. If you are in more of a hurry, stick to an easier menu item, such as a regular bagel with cream cheese, so no cooking or more in-depth preparation is involved.

Yelp
It is a SHAME that the service was so bad because it was actually a really good bagel sandwich. The lady out the counter gave me such attitude when ordering. And listen I've worked in a bagel shop in my past and I didn't want to make the coffee either. But at least I pretended. They also were out of most bagels on a Saturday at 10am. Had to give three stars for how good it was.

Yelp
Normally love this place. Today not so much. Messed up my order three times after waiting an hour plus for it. I ordered online and when I arrived 40 mins later at my scheduled pick up time I was told it would be another 20-30 mins. All I wanted was no cheese on one sandwich and I left that in the notes. 3 tries later still got messed up food. They did not seem to care at all that it was messed up three times either. Getting a bagel should not be this difficult.

Yelp
We order from here regularly. However we won't be anymore. Three out of our last four delivery orders have been messed up. The ticket is correct but items are missing. Luckily we used a third party delivery the first two time. This weekend we used Spread's website. We ordered bagels, lox and cream cheese. They delivered the cream cheese. That's it. When we called we got an auto text to start a chat. There is NO option to speak with a live human being. Seriously. We got no reply as of Two nights later. None, despite several texts from multiple numbers. Basically $50 for a thing of cream cheese, and we had to order elsewhere. Never again

Yelp
Our vacation rental was right next door and after a red eye flight we woke up tired and went downstairs to get something to eat. Spread Bagelry was right out the door and had plenty of people that were there waiting for a bagel. Usually a good sign. We ordered two sandwich bagels and a plain with smear. WOW! The sandwiches were wonderful. The bagel was crisp and fresh and the spread, eggs, bacon and tomatoes made the best breakfast sandwich. I like the crisp on the outside and soft on the inside so these were perfect, especially when making a sandwich. Can't wait to go again!

Yelp
Went to spread during the pandemic in April and really wanted to support them. But sadly this location really is the worst. Super rude employees (hey maybe they're stressed), but i have no idea why they feel the need to be actively mean. (I was yelled at because the bagel i ordered was sold out, then mocked when i asked if they had a tie dye bagel to replace it). I decided never to go back but not update my review as everyone has a bad day. But then...My husband went back. He placed his order online with an estimated 35 minutes. He got there 35 minutes later and was told it would be 20 more minutes for 2 bagel sandwiches. And when he got the order over 20 min later, the sandwiches were not correct. Will never be back. PLEASE spread - open your 24/Walnut location!!!

Yelp
I so want this place to be good but every time I go I'm disappointed. Example, I ordered The Standard and its just too much egg. You take a bite and it oozes all over. I overheard the people next to me say, "If I knew it was going to be this much we could've split an order." Do better please!

Yelp
My favorite breakfast sandwich in the city. Idk what to say other than I taste the TLC that's put into every sandwich. The bagels are on point every time. Eggs are cooked to perfection. Turkey bacon, pork bacon, or Canadian bacon, they have it all! If a legit sandwich was not enough they have La Colombe coffee as well. This place literally never disappoints. The line can be a little long at times but just be ready for that, it's well worth the wait. :-)
