I have never written a review before but I feel I must speak up about my meal here for the health and safety of others. The lemongrass chicken was unacceptable. It made me feel ill the whole day. My informed guess is that the chicken was old, as in left in the marinade too long. They said they cook it fresh everyday. What they meant was they grill old chicken from old marinade everyday. I was a line cook for five years. You can’t fool me. I know how chicken is supposed to be prepared, how it’s supposed to look and taste, and when to throw out the old stuff. I’m just glad it was me and not a child or elderly person who ate it. Please do better.

Took my "MILITANT VEGAN" niece here. I love pho and this place was recommended by a co-worker as the best pho in DC. They were not wrong. We all got different options as the menu covered the vegan, the vegetarian and the carnivore (as my niece described us). Over the top friendliness and fast service, we were there before the main rush times. We loved the meals and will return.

Packaging is done very well, but bang for buck is sadly missing. Depth of flavor for the beef broth is not there and I feel like there are much better options in DC. The Banh Mi was one of the better ones I have had, though. Calling to make any request (uncooked noodles) or modification after ordering is not possible. Calling the listed number leads to automated prompts.

My go-to for Vietnamese food in the Glover Park area. Love their banh mi sandwiches, esp the salt and pepper tofu. The baguette taste and texture is excellent. More fluffy than too crunchy, which I like. Their veggie spring rolls and peanut sauce are solid. The sauce has a garlic kick. Finally, the Vietnamese iced coffee is strong in caffeine, chicory flavor and sweetness so I usually dilute it with water. Reasonable pricing, and you save lots of time by ordering ahead. The 15-20 mins estimate pickup time has been consistently accurate for me.

This has some of the most delicious Vietnamese food in all of DC. I LOVE the tofu banh mi and my wife is obsessed with their pho. We’re so bummed they’re closing.

We ordered both traditional and vegetarian phở bowls, which were really good. But I want to highlight the Vietnamese taco: I went with the lemongrass chicken - which was juicy, flavorful and reminded me of Ho Chi Minh city even though it was a fusion dish. I randomly stumbled upon this restaurant a few years ago while on my way home from the grocery store and decided to take a quick pho detour, but Sprig & Sprout has been a staple in my dinner rotation ever since. They have an amazing selection of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options (as well as plenty of meat options for anyone accompanying us plant-based folks). The Roots, which is their vegan pho, is one of the best bowls of plant-based pho that I've ever had -- the burdock root-based broth is super flavorful, yet light and refreshing, and it's paired with a great selection of fresh veggies and fried tofu. The broth is the slightest bit sweet, which was a little unexpected, but that definitely doesn't stop it from being absolutely delicious! They also really load up the vegetable toppings, including the usual broccoli, cauliflower, carrot, and daikon, but also a few fun additions like tremella mushroom, which adds a wonderful pop of texture to the bowl. I would argue that the tofu is the weakest part of the entire dish -- it's a pretty standard fried tofu, with just a sprinkling of salt and pepper. Although the tofu does a great job of soaking up the burdock broth, the broth honestly doesn't have a bold enough flavor profile to really make a difference. The tofu is also usually added on cold, and by the time the broth warms it up, the noodles will have already gotten overcooked and soggy. If I'm not in the mood for pho, I usually turn to their lotus goi salad. Young lotus root has been one of my favorite ingredients for YEARS and I genuinely thought that I would never get to enjoy it in the DMV unless I carted myself all the way to the Eden Center. But, to my surprise, the answer to all of my lotus root woes was a mere mile away from my front door. If you've never tried a young lotus root salad before, I cannot recommend it enough -- the lotus root is beautifully snappy and refreshing, and pairs beautifully with the daikon, carrot, cucumber, and other veggies. The dressing is also phenomenal, but I would recommend (1) requesting it on the side, and (2) only putting on 1/4 to 1/2 of what they give you because they're a little heavy-handed with the sugar. You can also top the salad with whatever protein you want to make it a more complete meal.

The food here is so good! I’m not vegan, but love their vegan options. My favorite order lately is the noodle bowl with vegan egg rolls as the protein. Insanely good!

I absolutely love this pho place! It's my go-to meal when I'm feeling under the weather. The menu offers a variety of options like spring rolls, banh mi, and viet tacos. The broth is so delicious, whether it's beef or veggie broth. I always opt for beef though. Additionally, the staff is nice and helpful, and there's plenty of seating available. They also have great music, whether you're dining in or waiting for your carry out meal, you'll be entertained for sure!

Sprig and Sprout, The pho was great. For dining out, A solid eight. Great no frills food, A real delight. At $15 a dish, The price is right.

Updating my review specifically for the catering they offer! I was hosting a wellness event and was looking for a food pairing that was good for a crowd but still healthy. Sprig and Sprout definitely delivered! I emailed them on Sunday and had everything finalized on Monday for pickup on Wednesday. I got a tray of 30 pieces of vegetarian summer rolls for $45. I also did one of their fruit trays which was absolutely beautiful and full of more than your typical grocery store offerings. When I went to pickup my order I realized I did my math wrong and needed a second tray. They were able to put it together for me in just 20 minutes. 10/10 would definitely order again

This place was surprisingly decent. I ended up getting the custom pho. They definitely all honored the no cilantro request, vile weed!. I also got the sweet Thai tea which is something I've never had before and it was surprisingly refreshing. The major issue I have with this place is the bare bones approach. Essentially you've got kitchen workers and somebody who comes out and occasionally may clean the table but there isn't somebody to take your order or even talk to. The workers, by design or not, are quite surly and reticent. It's certainly not a welcoming kind of place. Also the interior decor is a bit sparse which doesn't bother me because I'm always there for good company and my friend loves this place so I wanted to try it out too. There's plenty of parking on the street and it's free. I would be tempted to come back again but I am a little bothered by the ambience. The price is reasonably good for what it's worth. My main go to for Vietnamese is of course to the Mecca which is Eden center. However I think if I didn't feel like driving all the way out I would give this place a shot again

I was craving a banh mi and this place did the trick. They have several selections so you build your own in a way. I took a more traditional approach and got the pork belly which was flavored and cooked beautifully. I also added pork pate for $1.5 to keep it traditional. I think $1.50 for pork pate is too much considering that's how it's supposed to be made. But still worth it. I also selected the garlic aioli. A couple notes/suggestions: if you came, go light on the aioli because it overpowered the meat a little bit when it should compliment. The pickled veggies were excellent but also a bit wet a overpowered the meat a little, but it may have been fine if it were for all the aioli. I also got the summer spring rolls which were good but nothing to write home about. It was nice seeing a more traditional roll that wasn't fried. However they do also have fried rolls for those that want that. The sandwiches are a great size. And you can get them to-go or dine-in. It's a casual dining area. Deli style where you order on a screen and then pick up your food. The food came out quick and everyone seemed nice but very minimal interaction with the set up Overall I really enjoyed my sandwich and will definitely go back.

I'm at the restaurant and they got very mad because I ordered at 8:45 and they close at 9:00pm . They started making my pho while they were cleaning the kitchen. With the same gloves of cleaning they were adding the vegetables to my pho so right away I cancelled my order . I'm glad I'm a good cooker so I'm going to make my dinner at home . AVOID this Place .

Delicious food and lots of great vegan options! Reasonably priced, and service was quick and friendly. Love that you can order from the touch screen kiosks.

Each time I visit DC I have Sprig and Sprout for a few meals. The sous vide chicken breast with the vermicelli bowl is healthy, fresh, and delicious. I wish they had something similar in NYC!

Sprig and Sprout kept me alive during my college years! They're super reliable and delicious, whether you dine in or order it for delivery. I'm frequently unimpressed with delivered food, but they have never disappointed! With a lot of vegetarian options and ability to customize from sweet to spicy, they are allergy friendly and always fulfill my cravings! If you love a simply pho bowl, definitely check them out! I also love their summer rolls, so definitely spend the extra few dollars to get them if you're only in DC for a bit!

Only giving 1 star because in the past the food was delicious. Something recently changed and if you make the mistake of ordering through DoorDash you end up in automated phone hell. My bad for not realizing once I placed the order that the store was responsible for delivery. Never got it, no way to get a live person on the phone! Best to pick it up!

Great fast casual Vietnamese food with excellent vegan options. Order at a kiosk for pick up or eat-in. Apps Tofu fries- just seasoned fried tofu but tasty with a vegan Sriracha aoli Crispy egg rolls- basic Vegan Summer roll- my daughter liked I didn't My wife and I had bahn mi and they were stellar. She had salt and pepper tofu, I had the vegan Buddha's medley that had tofu, seitan and some kind of vegan cold cut. Remember to ask for jalapenos. Served on a crunchy French bread return pickled daikon and carrot. One of the best sammies I've had in a while Daughter had the vegan fried rice and liked it a lot. It had that nice smoky work flavor.

I live about 1/3 of a mile from this restaurant, and I have been going here since they opened. I go here specifically for Phõ and when they first opened, until about a year ago, the food was amazing. Unfortunately, in the last 8-11 months, I noticed the beef broth becoming less flavourful and less rich, like the broth was diluted, intentionally. I always order double noodles. But, in the last 6-7 months, the noodles seem overcooked. The noodles no longer easily separate when the broth is poured over them. Instead, the noodles are brittle, soggy, and turn into a mush that turns the broth milky, see photo. This restaurant can do better and should do better. Please just charge more if you can't make a profit when charging $13.50 for traditional Phõ, and $0.75 for a 4-oz serving of adulterated Sriracha sauce. Since when is Sriracha orange? Nope! It's deep red. And stop watering down your broth! Your customers notice, and we will stop patronizing your establishment if you think quality can be ignored so as to not raise the prices just a little. I would happily pay more, but NOT for poor quality, diluted Phõ beef broth, overcooked noodles, and watered down Sriracha!

Ordered for delivery on their own website; fast delivery to Georgetown; well packaged. Delicious tofu fries (with vegan siracha). Never had tofu fries before. Very chewy (crispy but chewy). Nice quail (an innovative dish!). The fried quails are nice but the dish is a tad bit simple. Literally just the quail and not much else. Quails on a bed of onion and tiny salad. That's it! Somewhat disappointing for what is supposed to be their signature dish. They quietly delivered the bag to our door without knocking. Luckily we found out on the status online "delivered" and checked the door.

Really loved the spring summer rolls and the sauce that came with it. Did a take out. Quick and super courteous staff. Not yet open for dine in. The place looks clean. Packed well. Will come again when dining opens for Pho. For take out, I highly recommend their summer rolls. They are nice, healthy and crunchy.

Picked up Viet Fried Rice with Chicken and Fruit Tea with Boba - was super disappointed with both items. There wasn't a straw or utensil in the bag and that was only the first letdown. Viet Fried Rice with Chicken: The whole dish was excessively salty and the rice was too hard (seemed undercooked). The only part of the dish that I enjoyed was the pickled carrots and daikon - they were a great balance between sweet and tart. Fruit Tea with Boba: The boba wasn't edible! First thing I noticed was its completely melted appearance. However, I still decided to give it a try and it was so unpleasant. The Fruit Tea was way too sweet and I ended up throwing the whole drink away :(

I always enjoy picking up a bite to eat at Sprig and Sprout! As a Georgetown native, this is a good spot to grab bubble tea, spring rolls, and pho! Get your Viet comfort food here! Pros: Location: This spot is conveniently located near Glover Park and Georgetown! Service: The staff here is very friendly, and service is quick and accurate! Vegetarian options: If you are vegetarian, you have come to the right place! any veggie friendly phos, rices, and soups to choose from. Cute: The style and decor inside is cute, bright and clean looking! Definitely instragram worthy :) Delicious meals: I have never been let down on any of my orders here. The portion size is also generous for the price you pay, even in a pricey part of DC. Delivery: I have many times ordered Sprig and Sprout delivery. This chain is represented on most of the major food delivery platforms. I personally ordered off of Uber eats. The food arrived just as I had ordered it-- without too much packaging as well, which was nice to see! Cons: None to really speak of! The food is reliably good, budget friendly, and presented well!

Side Viet Goi salad is delicious! The traditional pho and "make your own" pho were great, and were well packaged for takeout.

While taking a walk in the Glover Park neighborhood, I was happy to come across a pho place! I visited this business during the pandemic, and so there was a machine for contactless ordering and payment. The menu options were pretty easy to follow, and I went with the traditional pho bowl. The pho was priced at $12.50, which I think is pretty comparable to the area. The broth was very rich, and it stated that it had been boiled for over twenty hours--you could definitely taste the effort that had been put into making the broth. The broth and other ingredients were cold for easy transportation, and so I heated it up once I got home. The meats looked and tasted fresh, and the broth size was quite generous. I would have a tard both more of the noodles, however, but I always almost feel like more noodles is needed in most full pho bowls I have. The staff were all following covid protocols (masks, gloves, distant) and my order was placed on a crate that was in front of the business, and so the pick up was also contactless. The interior was small and clean, but there was ample space to socially distant from other patrons. Overall, I would like to stop by again and was happy with the service.

My housemate likes their pho and gluten free menu, so she was picking up dinner here and asked if she could grab me anything. I hadn't made any dinner plans yet so took a look at the menu and figured a banh mi sounded good. It's been a while since I've had one.... Does this even count as having a banh mi??? The other half was just as sad. I moved all the meat to one side and ate the other half but even then, it's a ton less than you'd get at like Banh Mi DC or a Lee's Sandwiches. AND on top of that, they have the audacity to charge $10.50 for this.. definitely won't be ordering here again.

Pretty solid pho establishment. I had the BYO with tofu and veggies and it was filling. I love all the veggies they used. It definitely hit the spot on this cold evening.

I had high hopes based on other reviews but the overall meal with pho, egg rolls, vermicelli bowl and chicken poppers was just meh. Pho broth lacked intensity and tasted watered down like they were trying to make it stretch. The egg rolls didn't taste authentic and an overall let down. There are too many other options.

Cute little kiosk ordering setup and the food was soooo good. My date was from Vietnam and she loved it too, authentic!

We order pho soup but the broth was warm not hot enough we ask more hot but refused to do it people are very rude bad customers service please don't waste your money there is not worth it !!..

I had ordered a surprise bag from "Too Good To Go" app, which helps restaurants sell their excess food at a cheaper price to customers. What came in my surprise bag was enough food for 2 people! It came with fried rice with meat, two spring rolls, and white rice with various vegetable -- all for the price of ~$7. The spring rolls tasted fresh and were individually wrapped so they wouldn't stick to each other. The fried rice was a little oily for my taste, but, for the price, I could eat it. If you're tight on a budget but want to eat out, consider this!

The best - I've been ordering the pho on a regular basis for years, and it never disappoints. Traditional pho with spring rolls - delivered quickly and always good.

Went in on a chilly afternoon for a classic hot pho. Our food came out quickly and the kitchen staff was super nice! The broth in the pho was good, but the meat was a little dry despite being soaked in broth. Will definitely come back when I am in the area to try another item on the menu or just to try the pho again!

The past couple of visits to Sprig and Sprout were underwhelming, and the most recent one confirmed that it wasn't worth the drive into DC anymore. Sprig & Sprout is a Vietnamese-American restaurant that is located a couple of doors down from the defunct Whole Foods. They offer items such as starters (crab and shrimp eggrolls, summer rolls, tofu fries, etc.), pho bowls, banh mi sandwiches, rice bowls, vermicelli, beer/cocktails, brunch options, as well as catering services. I used to be a huge fan of their banh mi sandwiches, as I ordered them for lunch often. However, the marinated pork belly seemed to get fattier and fattier (not in a good pork belly way), and the portions seemed to always get less, even when requesting for and paying extra for the double meat. The sammies also come lukewarm; it's just odd, because I know the meats are supposed to be grilled and made-to-order; it just tastes as if the meats were pre-cooked and then stuffed into the bread. Customizing is also inaccurate; I've had added ingredients, missing ingredients, and missing side of shrimp chips. Remarkably tasty food at a great price point! I love that they partner with Too Good To Go--if you want a huge portion of food for cheap, check it out! The flavors are heavenly.

What I like about Sprig and Sprout is its Banh Mi. Specifically, I tried the lemongrass chicken and vegan aioli sauce. The restaurant is clean in its appearance. The ordering process for Banh Mi was a bit confusing for first-timers with respect to the signage and bewildering from the signage as to its total cost. I ordered through its self-check out station and was able to figure it out. I ordered during dinner so I think things would have gone faster had I entered my order sooner as there was a large order ahead of me. I did not see how to order tofu or a veggie Banh Mi during my tablet experience. Overall, it was a tasty meal and I would recommend this restaurant to friends and family.

I was very disappointed with my food and drink here, the pho was served cold when usually pho is supposed to be steaming hot and cool down as you eat it. Do not order the Thai tea because you will just get Thai tea with no milk in it whatsoever. Anyone who's drank or made Thai tea knows that the milk is an essential ingredient to the tea.

The food is ALWAYS delicious and the service is quick. One of my favorite places. I highly recommend the pork belly.

Ordered via Uber, and that all went smoothly. Would definitely order again for another banh mi, and bet other stuff would be good too. Bahn mi: 5 stars. It was a generous portion for the price. The bread was perfect (crusty outside but soft inside, rather than somewhat stale as it can be sometimes). I went with the traditional banh mi, and the pate was very flavorful, the pickled vegetables were plentiful, and they didn't skimp on the cilantro. The aioli was surprisingly mild, which I thought was nice. It also came with a side of "seafood air chips" that crackled in your mouth they were so crispy. Shrimp summer rolls: 4 stars. Pretty good, but nothing amazing about them. I'd happily eat more nonetheless.

I've been ordering from here for the past few years and I'm finally willing to admit I can't get enough of this place. I usually opt for the BYO with eye of round, and chicken. Then I spice things up with the spicy sate sauce. The customer service is also phenomenal. I had an error on my end with my order. I called the restaurant and Jen, went above and beyond to make sure I received my order the way I intended it to be.

Sprig & Sprout is a welcome, fresh take on pho. A little fancier than your standard mom-and-pop pho shop, the menu has higher quality ingredient options. My vegetarian pho "The Roots" included bean curd sheets, cauliflower, daikon, fried tofu and white Tremella mushroom. My mom added Viet meatballs and tripe to hers. We ordered take out and I was happy with the packaging - soup and usual pho accoutrements (bean sprouts, jalapeños, basil, lime) were packed separate to keep everything fresh. My spring rolls were wrapped tightly in plastic and not soggy. A finer point: I appreciated that the carrot was shredded as finely as vermicelli, giving a great crunchy texture. A perfect order-in option for rainy, lazy nights! I look forward to an in person visit as well; I noticed the website has special vegetarian and gluten-free menus.

They've been a neighborhood stalwart during difficult times-the neighboring Whole Foods has been shut down for several years and the messy legal battle has not been good for this stretch of Wisconsin. They're also very good at food. They offer a wide range of Vietnamese classics, and they emphasize customization and options for all diets. Clear gluten-free and vegan menus are available for those wanting to avoid fish sauce and such, and they're happy to subtract or add an ingredient as requested, and I can happily avoid any number of things I don't like while getting everything I do. Their veggie pho is excellent, and I enjoy the noodle bowls, and the salads and the tacos weren't bad either. They also have boba smoothies. What really keeps me coming back though, is taste. They work wonders with tofu, from the delicious salt and pepper fries with a legitimately spicy aioli to the ground and heavily spiced lemongrass poppers. Regular readers will know I'm not that high on fake meats, but their Buddha's medley is one of the best experiences I've had in that regard, and offers a bit of tofu and some sheets and squiggles of who knows what, that tastes delicious and not overly meaty, frankly. Distinctive ingredients like lotus roots in the salad or tremella mushrooms in the bowls are well worth trying for the Western palate. The lychee smoothie is fantastic. My main regret is always that I can't order everything at once. The dining area is fairly industrial with their open kitchen sitting there; I often get to-go. They own an upstairs level, but it's not generally used from what I can tell. I do hope that the neighborhood gets revitalized at some point, but for now, Sprig and Sprout is the place to be around here.

I love this neighborhood place in Glover Park and hope they never leave! I've become the delivery equivalent of a frequent flyer - frequent pho-er...?? (You can sign up to earn points for each order, not just delivery.) Excellent pho, with a build-your-own option. Also love the rice vermicelli bowl. Great veg and vegan options. All of the food is consistently high quality and fresh, and the pho is never too salty or greasy. Getting the cold broth for pho delivery is a great option. You can heat and serve it up fresh when you're ready. Easy ordering and quick delivery. Generous portions. The tofu fries are amazing, but not always the best choice for delivery (as with fried food everywhere) - but a definite must-try. The pho alone is reason enough to keep coming back (or ordering online). Sooo good!

I'm updating my review because they have changed it up! I received my delivery order today and it had no extra sauces and no utensils and, as usual, the food was delicious! I like that they send you the broth cold so you can heat it up yourself. (It always makes me pause when hot soup comes in heat-deformed plastic). Also, I am so pleased I can now use up some of the extra sauce tubs I have in my fridge. The owner or manager reached out to me privately to explain their practices -- many of which make sense. It's nice to know they really care. I know we all need to eat well during these times and take out and delivery is our usual now-- but it's nice to see some business being more conscious about how to make themselves more environmentally friendly. Single use plastic is the worst Great job S&S!

Came last night with some friends because one of my friends had never had pho before. I thought it was interesting that they had a make your own pho bowl, so I tried it out and made my own with beef bone broth, lean brisket, mixed veggies, bean curd, and tremella mushrooms. They had a little stand on the side to grab basil, a lime and bean sprouts. - The broth was tasty, but wasn't anything mind blowing. I felt like they went a little light on the brisket, and that's the main reason for the docking of the second star. The first dock was because I've had a lot better pho, and definitely is a more Americanized place. They are pretty quick, and was a popular place. Not sure if I'd come back because I'd prefer to find a more authentic place, but if you're just REALLY craving Viet food and need a convenient quick place- I'd order from here.

Glancing back into the kitchen floor was dirty and there was a lot of activity. Pho was flavorful though. Not bad but not great either. Wouldn't come back if I had another option.

I really like their food. Their egg rolls are amazing but don't use their website ordering service. It was terrible. I would only order from a main delivery service in the future. Company got in contact with me and refunded my money. Really great service and terrific food. The traditional pho was super tasty too.

Let me just take a moment to try and get the sprig and sprout bumped up to five stars. The music alone is enough to cover. The soundtrack varies from a late 90s red hot chili peppers, to just today hearing David Bowie even better sabotage by the beastie boys. It's extremely family-friendly and all of the employees are friendly and informative if you're not used to ordering Vietnamese food. Since watching James Wilks documentary a game changers I've become a vegetarian. It is not easy as I have delicious cheeseburgers barbecue and most importantly bacon. I think I found the most delicious vegetarian option there is the barbecue tofu tacos are covered in Sriracha a Oli. Smothered in line cilantro scallions and the vegetarian broth is steaming with garlic and ginger. I was feeling a little selfish in that by not leaving this review I will have the place to myself. But the workers and the owners deserve to know what a wonderful experience they get to everyone.

I was really excited about this restaurant because of the relatively great reviews, however my Bahn mi delivery meal that I ordered with bubble tea was waaayyyy off the mark. The Bahn mi sandwich was a good portion size with enough for leftovers, but I couldn't bring myself to finish the chicken lemongrass sandwich I ordered. The chicken was rubbery and had a weird fish like smell that made it very unappetizing to eat. The mango bubble tea I ordered basically just tasted like black tea with boba bubbles thrown in. It was all very unappetizing and I had to trash most of my meal because it was delivery.

Sprig and Sprout is one of my go-to Vietnamese restaurants in the District! The food is always fresh, the service is friendly and delivery is always fast and absolutely delicious. Also, if you're looking for vegetarian options, Sprig and Sprout offers great veggie menu items. I would highly recommend if you're looking for good, well-priced Vietnamese food closer in DC, specially closer to Georgetown/Glover Park!

this my favorite pho spot. i love snow fungus and the veggie broth is phenomenal.. and medicinal. i even get it with meaty phos. i cannot wait for the shop to open for dine-in to try their pho challenge.
