The Best Omakase-Only Restaurants In Austin 2024

"For a while, Uroko in Springdale General in East Austin had a secret identity situation going on. By day it was a casual handroll spot, and at night it operated as an intimate omakase experience. Eventually, the owners took over the space next door and opened Tonari—an omakase-only sushi spot that never has to wear a disguise. Dinner here consists of 12 bites of nigiri served over 45 minutes, meaning you can snag one of the “1 hour limit” parking spots at the front of Springdale General and be out with time to spare. Tonari was started by some of the folks behind the sushi spot Komé—which we like very much—and as a result, a dinner here feels a lot like a quick, chef-curated meal at its older sibling. That means generous portions of fresh fish, and a minimalist, no-frills approach to nigiri. It also happens to be one of the most affordable omakase spots in town. Don’t come here to celebrate that big promotion or to finally propose to your partner of 15 years, just come here for good quality sushi that you don’t have to plan months in advance to eat Cost: $84 per person. Sake flights available. " - nicolai mccrary

Google
Always a vibe. Packed with creatives and great selection of boutique brands and services. Easy to spend all day here for shopping, coffee, food and even creative classes. Ample parking. Try to bring your bike if you can

Great, eclectic area with a wife variety of stores, restaurants and fitness/ health centers. Parking is abundant, but the place is popular, so you might have to walk after parking.

I love this area. I hope more eateries open up out here. I’ve eaten at the French bakery and the pub. It’s a great spot. The pub has awesome prices and sandwiches.

Specifically went to Medici the new coffee shop on my way to work. Much of the indoor and outdoor sitting space is connected to other businesses which is great in terms of overflow. You can see from the pictures the sitting areas are designed for patrons to spend time gathering together. I enjoyed a cold brew coffee, black so no cream no sugar. This coffee is amazing. It went down super smooth without any burnt or bitter taste. The flavor blend is La Morena but I think the coffee flavors will change seasonally. I had not realized this is a chain shop. I have not been to other locations but I'm pleased to have a strong brand representative convenient to my commute area. The reason for 4 stars rather than 5 is the beer and snack selection. These are 2 areas desperately needing improvement. It your going to have a beer/coffee hub in the heart of Austin's growing and gentrification boom, you need more than 5 taps and should be from local breweries. Snack wise if your doors open at 6am but the tacos aren't there till 8am, that's a no-go because most people in this town don't want to eat sugar carbs/donuts and bagels for breakfast. We crave substance. The bar setup/design is a bit backwards but I was there very early in the morning so no one was there to make it difficult to get my drink in a hurry. I plan to return to try some of the hot offers when the Texas heat breaks. See you soon.

The stationery store is very cute, but if you're looking for food, look elsewhere. Places close early and unexpectedly, and the cafe and the pub don't have decent food. This is more of an office park than a hip area for relaxing and enjoying. Worth visiting for the cards at the paper shop if you've got $8 to spend on a single card.

Clean, great options! Love working from here for a little while and taking coworkers coming from out of town to chat. Always great!

Great spot for meeting friends and remote working. Just make sure to support the local stores and cafes!

Yelp
Springdale General is a vibrant mixed-use complex that has become a staple in my routine, thanks to its diverse offerings and convenient amenities. With favorites like Uroko / Tonari, Medici Roasting, Front Page, and Julie Myrtle in Building 1, it's a one-stop destination for a variety of experiences. Whether you're in the mood for delicious sushi, a cozy coffee spot, a quick bite, or some unique shopping, Springdale General has you covered. Recently, I stumbled upon a hidden gem, Paper + Craft Pantry, which quickly became a new favorite. This discovery is a testament to the surprises that Springdale General has in store for visitors. The complex seems to have a knack for continually introducing fresh and exciting options. There is always ample parking, ensuring that finding a spot is never a hassle. The accessibility adds to the overall convenience, making it an even more appealing destination

Yelp
I always come to uroko for pick up or delivery! I like to bring the kids because there's a lot of outdoor space and they like the stationary store across the parking lot. There's also a yummy bakery in the area and clean bathrooms! It's family friendly and hip in East Austin.

Yelp
I don't really understand this space though I guess it's part office space and part retail? I've been here a few times but today was the grand opening and it looks like it has potential. As well as the bar/restaurant called the front door that I've been to, there's a coffee shop, a barber, and some artsy craft shops. Interested to see what develops in this space as time goes on...
