Springs Preserve

Feb 14, the African American History' Festival was held here. This was the perfect location to celebrate nature and the history, beauty and contributions to our country's success & African American achievements . The weather was beautiful and activites ranged from outdoor classes for healthy cooking to story telling, including face painting, caricature and hat decorating. The outdoor amphitheater featured a great sound for a variety of music from local artists which could be heard while shopping, sitting , eating or just strolling. Tables were placed throughout the venue where a variety vendors shared brochures , samples and information Artwork , books, fragrances, & African inspired clothing and jewelry were available for sale. My favorite section was the area where the food trucks were parked and the smell of smoked dishes and sweet treats filled the air. The event was well planned, safe and fun event for families, businesses and community partners together to interact and embrace diversity.

Family fun!!! Spacious environments for different ages and learning different topics. There is a train that can help you get to small town. The butterfly exhibit was designed beautifully. There is a playground for the kids to run around. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Bathrooms clean. Highly recommend to go during an event but there maybe longer lines. Their website is update to schedule a planned trip. Great fun for everyone.

Absolutely amazing experience. I had some time to kill on a business trip, and this was just what was needed to forget about work and immerse myself in nature and local history. I spent 3 hours here, and feel I could’ve easily spent another 3, exploring. The Nevada museum was a fantastic experience.

You know who said you can't do a family trip in Vegas because I beg to differ. This outdoor preserve is beautiful. The rich history of Nevada is on full display here. Each exhibit explores eras frozen in time past and present. The outdoor botanical garden is just beautiful as is tye courtyard grass seating are. There is a Cafe even though I didn't order food i saw the plates and food looked good. The large playground for the kids was pretty awesome. The trails with p.o.i. display the back drop of modern vegas. Its just a lovely place.

Oh my GOODNESS I LOVE THIS PLACE! You would never think a place like this exists right in the middle of town but there it is! I went for the first time and was truly impressed and in awe with all of the volunteers and the site itself. There’s so much to learn and see that I highly recommend going several times. I hear that they do different events and it seems like the site is changing and growing, so I’m sure you’ll see something new in each visit!!!

We happened to stumble onto the Dia De Muertos festival displays in the Preserve when we visited in a Friday morning. It was fantastic! The Springs Cafe is well positioned and anyone can access to it without having to pay for the Preserve’d entrance fee. The food is decent and inexpensive. My friend has annual pass, which is why we were able to get in the butterfly habitat inside the preserves as well. Other than 2 museums, there is a train that you can hop on and hop off at a place where there are different replicas buildings from 100 years in downtown and residential vegas. Awesome! Strongly recommended! Especially for families with kids..

The family and I went to Dia De Muertes on November 7th. It was truly beautiful and inspirational. To see all of the families who were celebrating their loved ones who has passed. It was truly a celebration of life. The Springs Preserve has very nice events. It's also great to visit anytime. So much to see and learn. The cafeteria also has really good food. I recommend a visit if you have time and would like someplace interesting to go in Vegas.

Absolutely Beautiful and informative! I would love to return when it's butterfly season as well! We strolled through the acreage and took lots of pictures of the multiple varieties of cactus from around the world! I'm using my photos as references for watercolor and acrylic painting.

I have a yearly membership so everytime my grandkids are in town visiting we visit the Spring Preserve. Each and every visit is different. They get excited to see if there are any new exhibits. All the staff are very kind and have a smile to share when they cross your path.

Springs Preserve is located on Valley View and Alta. They were offering Free admission for local residents on Nevada Day, which is a legal holiday celebrated on the last Friday of October. Nevada is the only unique state who continuously celebrates its historical entry into the Union. Pricing for General admission ($18.95 adults) still applies to out of state visitor. Children ages 2 and under are Free. They do offer senior and military discount. Free parking is available at the Preserve and at Meadows Mall. Upon entrance, Carl was the person in charge of directing traffic flow pointing towards two pathways, locals stay on the left side and visitors go on the right. Check-in with Natalie was flawless. The family fun day began around 10am. Activities include hands-on learning, arts and crafts, museum and garden explorations. We experienced Nevada Ghost Town Storytime in the Majestic Theatre at Boomtown 1905, it's captivating listening to various stories of rough-and-tumble ghost towns. They had Live Trivia in the WaterWorks courtyard with Pub-style quiz on facts about Nevada. The Teaching Garden is a fun place to create a seed ball using native Nevada wildflower seeds. Inside the Origen Museum, they had a craft activity to make the Nevada State Insect, which is the Vivid Dancer Damselfly. We even explored all the offerings in the museum including the exhibit for "Nevada Reflections: The Silver State in Black and White." They have a nice gift shop! There's several activities happening, such as a Nevada Flag Game in the Cottonwood Room, where we pin the state's symbols in correct places on the flag and learn what the symbols mean. There's even a Nevada License Plate Gallery and we crafted our own license plate. They had a puzzle activity to learn about the different nicknames attributed to Nevada. The Garden Classroom Amphitheater offered experience panning for gold (iron pyrite). It's like recreating the early days of Nevada where the territory started by placer mining for heavy metals near the Comstock Lode. There's a Butterfly Habitat. At the Frame House, we learn about the endangered Mt. Charleston blue butterfly. Inside Nevada State Museum are additional crafts and discoveries, a surprise pop-up in the gallery, and a new exhibit called "Mapping Nevada: Tracing Nevada's Statehood Through Maps." The event timeline is super useful! From 9am to 4pm in the Education Room is hands-on learning and activities, including the museum's collection of artifacts and fossils. At 11am in the Orientation Room, Maggie Gaspar offers insights from her book, "Past & Present: Las Vegas" and we learn about how Las Vegas has changed over the years. From 1pm to 3pm in the Education Room, local folk-artist Vanessa Maciel teaches us how to get crafty. We were able to create our own replica of the official Nevada state artifact, which is the Tule Duck Decoy, so fun! In the Primrose Gallery, they had a Nevada Wildlife Art Exhibit with artist Shauna Walch on site. We explored the art exhibit for "What are the Species in Your Neighborhood?" The special event had food trucks throughout the Botanical Garden and Desert Living Center area. Food options include Glo Cone Novelty, Waffle Cafe, Fruit Fusion, and Don Carnitas. Live entertainment from DJ So Hype was at the Springs Amphitheater, along with community vendors and informational booths. Overall, the experience is truly educational and rewarding! It's definitely a fun-filled day of exploring and learning. It was nice meeting Mojave Max, who is a real live Desert Tortoise residing at Springs Preserve, he is the official mascot for Clark County Desert Conservation Program.

The Preserve has gone through some amazing remodeling and expansion since the last time I visited (it's been years) and I'm impressed. The Botanical Garden has been expanded with more scenic views and features such as gazebos and 'learning gardens' with scheduled events (sometimes free, others for a fee). I visited in late Fall and there are some flowers at the time of my visit. I did not go into the museums or see the train during this visit, as I was here for a free gardening class and to walk the garden. The parking is easily accessed, free, and when I was visiting there was plenty of parking available. While there I got lost for a few minutes attempting to find my way back to the entrance/exit. I followed some other visitors and within a few minutes found my way to the gift shop/restaurant building then was able to find my way back to the entrance/exit. Other than getting 'lost' for a few minutes, I still enjoyed myself. I shall return, and might even purchase a membership as I'm very curious to visit the museums and see the train.

A lovely place for a walk. Lots to see here at Springs Preserve. From their website, the Springs Preserve is a "180-acre cultural institution designed to commemorate Las Vegas' dynamic history and to provide a vision for a sustainable future." We visited the Nevada State Museum and various parts of Springs Preserve, including the Water Works facility explaining how water gets collected and into our homes, BoomTown area that is a replica of Old Town, gardens, and the Butterfly Habitat!

We visited for the first time during the day time (the last time we visited it was night time and it was for a holiday). Looking at my previous review, we were here in 2010. Parking was different, there were solar panels galore, which is a great thing. It was packed. We almost didn't find a spot. We had a pass for 6 to enter, so we went to the box office. We went to the Butterfly Habitat. Listen to their rules. And watch your step. It was pretty neat to see. Beautiful. When we left there was a really long line. We checked out the rose garden & the vegetable garden (for the butterflies). Pretty flowers. We checked out Boomtown. That was by train. Very cool. Some of the homes were open, but some were not. We took the train back. The pretty building was the NV Energy Sustainability. There were crystals. But it closed so we didn't get to check it out. We also checked out the live animals & the flash flood demo. Neat. Very big. This was the coolest part along with the Butterfly Habitat. I spent the last 8 minutes in the Nevada State Museum. Pretty cool. Dinosaurs, mining, gaming, the area animals were featured. There were playgrounds & bathrooms. We didn't get to check out Water Works. We ran out of time! It's huge. We definitely got our steps in!

This was a nice place to visit on a casual Sunday, however it truly felt like a place you come once and never feel the need to visit again. The butterfly house was smaller than I was expecting. It was primarily run by very helpful and knowledgeable volunteers. It was easily my favorite place within the Springs Preserve We toured the museum and animal exhibits after. Most animals were either not in their exhibits or sleeping/hiding. The museum it's self was okay, there was some interactive activities for kids! We enjoyed the gift shop and the different short movies playing throughout the building.

Those who live in Las Vegas know there is no time quite like Vegas time. In that sense, may seem like there are never enough hours in a day. Yet there is always plenty of time for the important things. Perhaps that best defines Special Time Preservation. Christmas in July. Summertime Halloween. Veterans Day when missions are accomplished. Sundays when time for rest. A melting pot of different times adjoining under one lifetime. Perhaps you might call that Plant time. A Valen Time gift of desert plants and desserted chicken fingers.

The Springs Preserve is one of my favorite local attractions. The property contains a botanical garden, seasonal butterfly habitat, the WaterWorks exhibit, historic Boomtown 1905 (a recreation of an early Las Vegas streetscape), train rides & walking trails, Springs Cafe (which has amazing views of the Las Vegas Valley), and two museums: Nevada State Museum, Las Vegas + Origen Museum. I'm a proud member of the Springs Preserve, and it's where I learned most of my fun facts about Southern Nevada. Did you know that the Las Vegas Valley has 10 distinct plant communities and more biodiversity than entire states in the US? :)

It was our first visit this past weekend and everyone had a great time. There are so many interesting exhibits and the gardens were gorgeous and well kept. My kids stopped at every table with an activity and learned something new about nature from the staff. Highly recommend the Nature Exchange it is like a trading post for kids and the train to Boomtown is a nice way to explore the property. My other favorite part was the Teaching Garden. Staff knew the answers to all my questions and really helped me figure out what to grow in my garden

The Springs Preserve is the best place to spend wholesome, quality time with loved ones. With so much history and pretty views, this serene spot in Las Vegas is welcoming to people of all ages and interests. There's information about the native communities that live in Nevada and their cultural history. Information on the modern issues from water shortages to the importance of desert landscaping. A great spot for locals and tourists alike. This affordable preserve is a great option to meander around desert gardens or cool off indoors through the different exhibits. So thankful that Springs Preserve participates in the Blue Star Museums program for military families.

Loved our visit to this place!!! We do recommend it. Cost - $9.99 for adults, $5 for kids, and 2 and under is free. Good value for the price because there is a lot to do--huge place. Parking - the parking is free and there's even covered parking! There was ample parking when we went. We went on a Monday morning to afternoon and the place is pretty empty. But I've heard it's been pretty packed if you go on the weekend which is why we went on a weekday during the school year. Exhibits - these are all really fun but they're geared more towards older kids. Our kids were five and under so they went through the museum stuff really quickly because they didn't understand a lot of of it. But they did really enjoy the butterfly habitat which opened on April 6, and they also enjoyed all the play structures. They probably could've stayed in the structures all day before them to go do other things! they also really enjoyed the train ride which was included in your admission and you can ride it as many times as you want. It is a pretty short train ride about five minutes or so maybe 10 at most and it goes to Boomtown and back but it's a very nice train and it's very big with the seating. Timing - We were here for a little more than half a day and didn't even get to do everything. We see the botanical gardens, and we also skipped the Nevada museum because the kids were just too tired from all the playing. Strollers -They allow strollers in to the preserve, and the pathways are all pretty navigable. There are also many ramps and elevators to get to all the exhibits easily so you can bring your stroller without any worries. Also, last tip--they have a map on the app! So I would download the app to help you find your way around. But the signage is really good if you don't want to keep looking at your phone. Enjoy!

This is a very nice place to walk with your littles. If you are not a fan of people and the dirty strip. This is a nice getaway. We ate at the cafe and it was very good. The museums are small but kept my four year old walking all day. We would go back just to walk and get out. My only down side was the butterflies were not open and they never posted nor mentioned it was closed. We even asked for directions to the enclosure and a woman told us what way to go and not a word about it being closed.

I swore I wrote a review on this place. As it is a well deserved of one and needs more recognition! This place is seriously one of my favorite to go places every time we go to Vegas (since having kids, that is). Vegas is usually known as an adult paradise and not as much places to take the kids other than what many are familiar with on the strip or off strip known as Circus Circus. This place has a lot to offer. Heres a quick rundown list and with this, i think it speaks for itself! - There is a large amphitheater like area for the kids to roam around - just around the corner is a hidden large playground for the kids. - In another corner would be a line to hit the train tram to take you to boom town (a mini town portraying old las vegas like a mini museum). If you don't prefer to get an exercise, across the other side of the train stop is a mini hike trail you can take that will lead you to the town as well with info along the way about animals and plants for kids to read and learn! - along the way there is also a stop to a large 2 story building showing history and effects of wasting water and conservation efforts. Another little museum full of information for kids to learn and explore! - if this is not enough and you may feel bored, the Nevada Museum that is attached is part of the entrance fee and free to go in and explore even more with fossils, more old Vegas history etc. There is always one exhibit that changes about 2-4x a year i believe but i always receive email notifications of whats new and try to go again whenever in town! We can easily spend a few hrs here easy, each time we visit. Let's not forget the Cafe near the entrance and I will add that i am quite surprised that it isn't just a boring cafeteria type cafe. It is pretty good and also amazed their ice espresso coffee with many variety of flavor options is quite delicious too. Can you tell how much of a fan I am of this place. Must visit at least once with the kids. I love it so much i have an annual membership for $60/yr for a family. I won't even complain if it helps me keep the kids entertained a few hrs each time i return.

We visited during July which was hot that we did not tour most of the outside places. Lots of things to check out. Huge cactus to see and desert plants. Customer service is amazing. Do not forget to visit the cafe since they have the best fresh made smoothies. The tropical smoothie was amazing. The museum inside was informative. I would visit again in cooler weather to see more.

Ok, I'm not sure why I haven't reviewed this place yet after visiting more than a handful of times. If you're looking for activities for your kids, or even if you don't have kids. Definitely check out Springs Preserve. They have two museums, a botanical garden, trails, train rides, and many more. You can spend multiple hours here. During the summer time. They can shutdown their train rides due to the weather being way too hot. So just keep that in mind if you are planning to do their train ride during the summer. They have tons of activities to do, and if you or your kids are hungry. They also have a cafe. It's pretty huge, so it'll definitely burn some energy off. Nevada residents gets a discount, but if you think you'll be going multiple times a year. Then I recommend getting their membership. It's a pretty good deal.

I had seen this place off the freeway several times and has no idea what to expect! The place is amazing! Family friendly and great For the littles! They packed a punch of things to do and learn! There are great programs for kids! As well as we received some seeds to plant. The Nevada museum is also there and a separate charge to get in! The cafe is sooooo good! So many drink and food options and the coffee menu is insane! I can't wait to go back to eat there! Season changes were noticeable and can't wait to go in spring time!

I love bringing my daughter here. They do a great job of keeping the exhibits fresh. I recommend going when the weather is nice and checking out the butterfly habitat.

Beautiful gardens in Vegas to visit with several museums. My Cousin has an annual pass so I got in on a discounted rate. Definitely need to visit more then once there's so much to see! We enjoyed the Butterfly gardens which is an indoor facility to keep them safe and happy. You could spend hours there looking for all the different varieties they house in addition to the beautiful plants and flowers. We enjoyed the gardens that are child friendly and we saw the gardener help two kids plant a flower to take home. We enjoyed one of the museums which shared so much of Nevada history and a special exhibit of Liberace costumes and learned a lot about him I never knew. He enjoyed cooking with his mom and even has a cookbook! Next time I visit this will definitely be on the agenda to explore again!

Can't go wrong with some greenery in Vegas. I've been here several times for all sorts of different things. There's stuff to do on both hot days and cooler days, although I prefer the cooler days because then you can walk around and really enjoy yourself. I love the butterfly garden when it was here, and I hope it makes a return. I also love all the various exhibits they have about Nevada and nature. If you don't want to pay admission, they have a cute little cafe you can come to at the front of the place. I've come here several times with my planning group. They have a variety of food and drink, and a fantastic view of the city. You can chill here for a while and decide if you want to go into the rest of the park.

Good spot in central Las Vegas that is fun for the family...rotating and permanent exhibits and the flash flood exhibit is very cool indeed...numerous outdoor trails to walk/hike when the weather permits...a small trolley will take you to Boomtown, a recreation of the old Las Vegas when it was a bustling railroad town...lots to See and do here and you can spent the better part of an entire day visiting...they also have a small cafe to grab a bite if you get hungry during your visit...haven't been to the new cafe as of yet but the old one was very good so hopefully the replacement is as well...Open Thursday through Monday during the day with special events throughout the year...check the website for details as they sometimes sell out, especially the Halloween festival....not sure what the daily admission is as we have a yearly membership pass that is highly worth the $$$...HIGHLY RECOMMEND

We finally had the opportunity to visit with the cooler weather, the grounds are just beautiful with the desert plants and beautiful trails to see along the way. There is a few museums and we went to the Nevada state museum, it had so much to see it took us maybe 2 hours to see it all. We spent some time walking around and had a great time, the butterfly area was too busy to see by this time , its best to get there early and see it first before it gets too busy. You will have to visit more than once with so much to see. I really loved the dinosaur display in the museum, they also have a cafe on the grounds to grab food or coffee . It's a great place for family and kids or just anyone who loves nature. The parking and location are very easy to get to and it's free of charge as well.

It is one of my favorite places to go and to recommend to my family and friends that come into town. This place is not just for kids but adults as well. You will learn everything about Nevada and the desert. Information from geography, animal life, and so much more. They do have different exhibits that are there temporarily, such as the butterfly exhibit. It is a beautiful greenhouse where you can see different species of butterflies. Make sure to check out the flash flood room. That's pretty cool. They have an outdoor train ride that takes you to a model town assimilating what life was like in western days. This is a large place where you can not see everything in one day. An excellent place to take the family or just to visit on your own as well.

This is a MUST visit if you're looking for something to do in Vegas. There's something for everyone. -Botanic Gardens w easy trails -Seasonal Butterfly habitat -Various Museums regarding Nevada's history, culture, geology -"Train" (tram) ride to Boomtown which is a replica of what Vegas was like in 1905 along with actual houses from back then that you can walk through -Crack a Geode where we picked a geode and watch it crack open w a machine -Cafe with a beautiful view We spent 5 hours there when we went which I think was enough time to see everything! I also learned a lot about Liberace on this trip. Pro Tip: -if you have the ASTC reciprocal admission, you can get in for free. It's been so many years since I moved to Vegas and finally I visited Springs Preserve for the first time. The main reason for this visit was for the butterfly habitat before the closure for this year, but I actually enjoyed most of the other attractions Springs Preserve had to offer. As we arrived on a Saturday morning at around 10am, there were plenty of parking spaces near the Nevada State Museum. Tickets were $9.95 per person for NV residents and I thought it was very reasonable to enjoy all of their attractions. We went straight to the butterfly habitat and there was a long line to get itside. I found it a bit disappointing because I expected to see more variety of local butterflies but I thought maybe it was because we visited too late towards the end of the butterfly season. Afterwards, we went to both the museums within the preserve. We really enjoyed the live animals exhibit that houses fauna found locally. There were more to explore but we got little too tired in the afternoon so called it a day. We're definitely coming back to view some of the other attractions we missed!

Not a lot of parking so make sure you leave in advance to get there early to get a spot to park. The line was about 30 minutes to get in. Once we got in we got a pamphlet with the venue layout. The beginning was booths from centennial Hospital, a few lawyers of law. The were passing out candy, chapsticks, you walk down the ramp and there was quite a few games for the kids to play games. They weren't passing candy out just clapping once you complete the game. The lines took a really long time to get through so we decided to walk further down the preserve where there was props along the wall path that had food vendors from Tacos, Waffles on a S Stick and several different food trucks. Once the trail ended which was a long walk/ kinda hike you came to a town looking place where there was a few older kids passing out candy. There were also booths with arts and crafts, a DJ playing music for the kids to jump and dance around. There is membership offered here too I'm not exactly sure what it all in tells, but when there are events like the Haunted Harvest you get a discounted rate to get in.

We had a good time. We've road past this place so many times and been wanting to go. This is a pleasant place for the family to go outside the strip. I wish they had animals or if we had an actual zoo but seeing some of the insects, reptiles and the one fox they had in the exhibit. You definitely want to go early if you have kids because there's a lot of stopping. The train ride to Boomtown was interesting. Also being able to stop by the Nevada Museum was cool as well. We want to come back and see the butterfly exhibit and botanical garden.

One of our favorite places to visit as a family. This is a very budget friendly, family friendly location. I love taking my toddler here and letting him run around in the outdoors, riding on the train, and viewing the different museum exhibits. We love visiting the seasonal butterfly habitat and attending the Halloween event each year.

Had a fun afternoon here at the preserve! I've never left the strip before, so this is a good experience to do some thing besides what Vegas has to offer gambling and drinking! We spent two hours walking the property and it's pretty large at! For us adults our favorite part was the botanical garden. My only complaint is I just wish there was more. I wish they would pack in more gardens, plants and shrubs to look at! We thought the train ride to the old town was really geared more towards kids! Everything is really well built and staff is very nice just wanting more!

The Springs Preserve is certainly a hidden Vegas gem. With reasonable entry and lots to do, you can stay all day or just for a few hours to enjoy it. The Botanical Gardens and trails were awesome, but are absolute favorite was catching the seasonal Butterfly habitat in action. Boomtown was also a fun replica surprise that I hadn't anticipated but appreciated for 3D Nevada history. We didn't get a chance to eat at the cafe but are hoping to next time as it looks like a great food option. Absolutely recommend the Springs Preserve for a group or solo date in any season.

A great museum that showcases how Vegas came to be, along with a nicely done dinosaur exhibit. The trails are really nice and Boom Town was interesting to see. Not too far from the strip and makes for a nice break with the kiddos. Check it out!

Great day out. Fresh air and butterflies. Got to see some changing colors. Lots of things closed because of staffing shortages.

I have already rated springs preserve before, but u have to give a huge shoutout to the day of the dead festival I go to every year. I have been going about 5 years now. It is usually held on the first Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of November. This is the first year I've been where all 3 dates sold out. If you have never been. Pretty much people set up personal offrendas to honor those they lost. An ofrenda is pretty much a shine with pictures and food so that the dead can find their way back to their families. It is such a beautiful celebration of life and culture. You vote for ofrendas, and they do cash prizes. Besides that, the main stage has beautiful cultural dances and singing. It is truly one of the events I look forward to every year. And yes, that's me. I always always dress up. You should everyone there does.

Another great day at The Springs Preserve. I took a class on how to start a garden. The class was offered by The Southern Nevada Water District. Lots of good learning about our water and saving tips. Class instructors were Adriana Picazo & Miguel Rodriguez. Thank you for your time and enthusiasm! See you for the next one!

My Granddaughter and I went yesterday. We spent about 4 hours going through the exhibits and still wasn't able to everything. That is why we bought a membership before we left . We want to go and see more of the amazing things and really want to see the Butterfly exhibit in the Fall.

The Spring Preserve café is so under rated. The restaurant has a gorgeous 360 view that overlooks the entire botanical garden. The menu has a breakfast and lunch cuisine.The food is freshly prepared by a chef. There are healthy options and a variety of snacks to choose from. I loooooovvvveeee!!!! This place. It is kid friendly and a nice place to relax and enjoy Vegas outside of the strip. There are walking trails a learning garden and a butterfly habitat in the fall which I'm dying to come back to see. The only thing that I was confused about was I thought it had live animals. I was informed that you may see a chayote rabbits or other animals depending on the time of year. A lot of photographers come out to capture the beautiful surroundings. I hope you support this place and love it as much as I do.

we went on an 86 degree day. it was too hot for us to be walking around this preserve, and vegas regularly gets into the 100s. i can't imagine visiting this place at higher temperatures. i don't find plants interesting, much less desert plants. it would be unfair to knock it on that. i came here knowing it's a place to look at desert plants. unfortunately for us, there were several sections that were closed, but my daughter LOVED the train ride. the staff is very friendly, especially the lady at the ticket booth this afternoon. note: 4 chargepoint stations near the cafe provide free EV charging - awesome

Finally made it to the Springs Preserve on September 1st and you can easily spend almost half a day there. you can learn about the early history of Las Vegas at Boomtown as well as learning the natural and human history of the area and Nevada. On the day I went the trails were closed due to flooding from the monsoon storms that day but they had a transportation between Boomtown and the main area of the preserve. One of the interesting features was the flash flood demonstration where you stand on a platform and have 50,000 gallons of water that will surround you. Let's just say there will be a bit of a splash zone. They also have a temporary exhibition in the Nevada State Museum honoring Liberace as of this review. Overall, this is a great outing for families.

Came on New Years Eve with friends and family and thought it was a really nice smaller museum/outdoor reserve space. Learned a lot about Nevada and it's rich culture over the years. What I like about this place is that there are different exhibits that vary in themes which are great for adults and little ones. Of course my 4 year old preferred anything with animals or things that were interactive. To point out I'd have to say my favorite was the flash flood experience where you can go inside and really experience what it's like to be in a flash flood with real water while you stand on a bridge, my highlight for sure. For my son, he loved going outside to run around and look for reptiles and animals but honestly majority of the animal exhibits had no animals so it was pretty uneventful in my opinion but I guess that could have been due to the weather and that it was New Years Eve. Secondly the flight exhibit was pretty cool for all of us and my son was able to design a jet and simulate flying one! Super cool! Definitely think this is a one and done type of place as opposed to wanting or needing to come back multiple times but was glad we got to experience it.

We visited the Springs Preserve recently. The Springs Preserve is a beautiful and relaxing place to enjoy nature and learn about the history of Las Vegas. There are many things to see and do there, such as walking on the trails, riding on the train, visiting the butterfly habitat, and exploring the gardens. One of the highlights of the Springs Preserve is the Nevada State Museum, which showcases the natural and cultural history of Nevada through interactive exhibits, artifacts, and educational programs. The museum is open Thursday to Monday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and admission is included with your Springs Preserve ticket The museum is also very informative and engaging, with exhibits that cover topics such as geology, paleontology, archaeology, mining, gaming, entertainment, and more. I would highly recommend visiting the Springs Preserve to anyone who is interested in Las Vegas culture and history. It is a fun and educational experience that will make you appreciate the diversity and richness of this city. I would rate it 5 stars out of 5 for its quality, variety, and value.

Highly recommend WAY more than the hr we allotted... definitely could plan legit a full day here... inside & out! Sadly we dudnt get to see the butterflies... as that exhibit closed like 2 hrs before preserve closure... which would have been nice to know... but again so much to see!

I just love this place. It's a breath of fresh air in Las Vegas. There's just so much to do here and you could never complete it in one day. This is my second time here with our seasonal passes and my wife's third time. Because of our seasonal passes were able to get into the preserve an hour earlier than regular passes. Today we decided to do the cactus section and see the butterfly exhibit. The line will build up fairly quickly, so get there early for the butterflies which opens at 10 AM. This place is well-maintained and the staff is very friendly. It is absolutely amazing that there's so many varieties of agave and Yucca's . There are just so many multiple varieties of desert plants. God's design is absolutely amazing the more you see it in his marvelous creation.

One amendment to my review that I'd like to make is in relation to the use of live animal exhibits. It's clear that the preserve is to educate & inspire. I was disappointed that they held healthy wild animals captive, especially the gray fox. I understand that he will live a longer life in captivity, but none of us would want to live in a tiny solitary confinement existence for our lifetime. He doesn't have a choice. There are plenty of taxidermied fox in the exhibits, as well as snakes, etc. Dont we want to teach the kids that we should let the wild things live wild to preserve the desert ecosystem?

We went to the Springs Preserve today to visit the Teaching Garden. Charles, the gardener, was fantastic. He was very generous with his time. We left with many ideas we want to use at our school garden.

A great educational place geared towards children for a fun day out. The fee to get in was an acceptable amount in my opinion considering some of the exhibits and parts of the property weren't open. There are tons of different little exhibits and learning areas such as the butterfly habitat, Nevada State Museum, Origen Museum and Boomtown 1905. They also have a large gallery of student's artwork. As we were three adults, we didn't enjoy some of the stuff as much because it's definitely geared towards kids, but there are a few exhibits that have more history and learning where kids won't be interested in. We did pay for the train ride to Boomtown, which was quite hokey. Nevada doesn't necessarily have beautiful scenery in most areas because it's a desert, so the ride was nothing special. Plus, the train didn't even stop in the town, it just did a semi slow drive by. Kind of lame. And the funny thing is, is the town is literally a short walk in the opposite direction of where the train ride started so we basically just did a big loop to see the "scenery." Again, a great thing for kids, but adults not so much. They also had a narration going on the speakers, but you couldn't make anything out because the train was so loud and squeaky. All in all, a fun and entertaining spot for children, but really leaves you wanting more if you're an adult.

Love this place. Such good value for money for the season ticket-we'll worth it. Love the craft times at 11am and the butterfly garden is always a hit!

Such a fun family day! My daughter is 6 weeks old so she's too young to see/know anything but it was a great outing and awesome temperature today to see and enjoy the preserve! We loved all of the experiences, activities and everything they had to offer! I hadn't been here in maybe 10 years and it has definitely changed for the better! Such a fun and educational experience for the WHOLE family! If you haven't checked it out, make sure you do! The cafe was amazing as well.

My family and I love coming to this place. We love it so much that we got a membership and it's so worth it. They always have some events going on and even if they don't, you'll find something to do here. There's a playground and splash pads for the littles. There's actually so much stuff for kids to do. They offer story times on certain days as well! We are a huge fan of the museums and different exhibits. Definitely worth getting a membership. If you don't live in Vegas, it's still worth visiting!
