Yelp
New owners and a facelift at the site of the old Wolfies in the Spring. The Springs Tavern opened midway thru July, and clearly they have developed a solid following, because parking was a challenge.
No reservations, but it didn't take long at all to get an outdoor (picnic) table. We were warned by the staff upon entry that the kitchen was a bit behind, but they took our drink order right away, and not only were the drinks interesting and tasty, they were remarkably well priced for the Hamptons, at $14.00 for a mixed drink. Probably one of the reasons for the big crowd.
The food eventually did arrive, and i started with the Greek salad, and others in our party had the pear salad, and the burrata. All the appetizers were not only excellent, but they were all of shareable size.
There was another somewhat long wait between the appetizers and the main course, which was surprising, but the kitchen in the building is apparently fairly small. For a main course i had the "simply grilled" tuna steak with fries. The tuna was impeccably grilled, and well seasoned. The fries were crispy and tasty, but needed a bit of salt. The fish tacos, apparently one of the top orders, were tender and tasty as well.
We didn't sample dessert, because by that time we were pretty tired, and a tad mosquito bitten, but all in all, it was worth the trip. Upsides: excellent food, friendly staff, available tables, reasonable prices. Downsides: difficult to park, a bit of a wait for the food, but not drinks. I expect that things will only improve, as ownership is experienced and professional. 2 thumbs up.
And open year round.
