Where to Enjoy a Glass of Chardonnay This Summer in New York | Eater

"Tucked away in East Hampton, Springs Tavern & Grill is where true locals unwind and weekenders come to blend in. The outdoor dining space is made for lingering — long summer nights, live music, and that easy coastal energy. The menu is seafood-forward, making it a perfect match for the rich, oaky notes of Harken Chardonnay. Order the lobster roll, settle in for the people-watching, and don’t be surprised if you completely lose track of time." - Julia Gómez Kramer

18 New York Area Spots to Sip on Chardonnay This Memorial Day | Eater

"If you’re heading out East for the holiday weekend, swing by Springs Tavern for a glass of Harken. The menu has a little bit of everything — oysters, tuna tartare, risotto, fish tacos, an array of salads, and rice bowls — and is known for having live music in the outdoor lounge area, too." - Julia Gómez Kramer

Where To Eat In The Hamptons With A Big Group

"When the most random collection of people you know is Out East simultaneously, meet your coworkers, college roommates, and middle school crush whose company just IPOed at Springs Tavern. It’s a cozy neighborhood bar inside, but outside you can lounge at luxe picnic tables with fresh flowers and white tablecloths that are shaded by oversize umbrellas.  Brunch, dinner, and Happy Hour are all good moves at this no-reservations spot. Fuel your casual big group hang with upscale bar snacks (shishito peppers, crisp wings, calamari), salads as big as your social circle, and satisfying burgers (even one for vegans, so everyone’s happy). Google
wonderful local tavern with excellent seafood and excellent staff. we had the pot stickers, mussels, and clams from the happy hour menu. we followed that with the crab cake sandwich and the tavern burger. All the food was great!

Google
Great appetizer options with the Mediterranean platter and ceviche. Service was good especially for a large party. The grilled mahi mahi tacos were a bit dry though

Matthew Grandin

Google
Tasty, casual and good selection of food and drink options. Easy going atmosphere and indoor and outdoor eating. They take reservations for parties of 6 or more.

Google
One of the most pleasant and affordable options in the area. We go nearly once a week. Happy hour specials outside. Great place to bring kids/baby too!

Google
Super friendly efficient service. Staff couldn’t have been nicer. And the food? Amazing! The drinks were expertly made. My group went there 3 nights out of 5. Plenty of parking - though it can fill up quickly on weekends. I met Pedro (one of the owners) he was on site making sure all was good and as I said - IT WAS! Inside and outside areas give you plenty of options. Just an overall enjoyable time. Highly recommended!

Google
We are visiting the Hamptons and stumbled upon the Springs Tavern and Grill. The atmosphere was warm and very nice. Every person we interacted with was so nice and pleasant. This is a local hang out however we felt very welcomed as tourists. The food was 10/10! The short rib was a very generous portion and one of the best I have had. Someone in our party had the bolognese and said it was fantastic! Another had the burger and gave it 10/10 but said the fries were amazing too! John was our server tonight and he was very friendly, attentive and knowledgable about the menu. Super friendly too!

Google
Give this place a miss! They took a bar with great history & literarily white-washed the interior, the culture, even the language! If you're interested in the great tradition of Springs, and drinking where Jackson Pollack used to regularly imbibe when it was called Jungle Pete's, sorry, but this place is unrecognizable in every way. First, while the building is generally the same, the interior has been painted all white, as in a starkly barren hospital room. There are very few photos and nothing of interest or paraphernalia or anything of character to honor its history. Just a bar/restaurant awash in white paint & zero atmosphere. When I walked in, the hostess was a sullen woman bored to tears whose exotic appearance, manner and dress was thoroughly incongruous for a tavern. Now, this is a pilgrimage of sorts to a bar with wonderful history, where famed artists and baymen used to drink. When this was Jungle Pete's, Bonackers and Bohemians seamlessly gathered and enjoyed themselves. That entire culture is now gone. When I visited, there was a patron next to me speaking with the bartender in Spanish. At the other end of the bar were a group of migrant workers, all wearing hoodies and all excitedly speaking Spanish. They too were conversing in Spanish with the bartender who was also Hispanic. The expressionless bartender merely took my order, purely perfunctory and with no personality -- clearly this is a bar for the growing Hispanic population of the area which is fine in and of itself, but a shame since it has such a rich history in the Hamptons with great bohemian artists and beat poets mixing with the Bonacs. Today, the Springs Tavern is nothing but an antiseptic looking bar that has equally washed out all of its history, and all of its traditional character of Springs, and the Hamptons. It's a shame what they turned this once legendary piece of Americana into!

Google
Single woman, crazy-busy day for me (didn’t want to cook!) popped in at 7:00 pm for dinner at the bar. Bartender not welcoming or friendly, took 45 minutes to get my food, but she apologized and gave me a free glass of wine. Salmon Rice Bowl great as usual! Again, bartender never asked if all was well, no smiles and texting between her drink orders. Took my bill before I was finished and was counting her tip from the jar. Not thrilled, but local - I think she just may need some hospitality training.

Yelp
Outstanding! Springs Tavern has far exceeded my expectations for what a local Restaurant can be. Having tried virtually every item on the menu, I've never been dissatisfied. My favorite meal is the salmon rice bowl followed by the chicken Milanese. The staff is outstanding. The vibe is incredible. And the owner/operator, Alex Rossi, is ubiquitous--always a smile on his face whether he's greeting a Customer or following up to see how a diner is enjoying her meal. Apparently there's music Thursday nights in the summer. And the outdoor area accommodates large groups. This is an absolute stand out in the SPRINGS as well as in East Hampton. It's my favorite local restaurant. Well done!

Yelp
I got food to go, but was able to get some shots of the place while I was there! It was quite crowded for happy hour and seems like a popular place. We ordered the scallops and the tuna rice bowl and truffle fries. The fries were great! Not overpowering like some truffle items, and still crispy when I got them home. The scallops were good, but quite small. The tuna was also good - while not what I was expecting (which was something along the lines of a poke bowl), it was tasty and filling. All in all a good experience.

Yelp
Great food, great service and ambience. Visited this place while in the Hamptons. The food was fresh., well seasoned, tasty. They have inside and outside seating with parking space.

Yelp
What a pleasant surprise! In an area full of pretentious restaurants this place is so welcome!! Order a burger, salad, pasta, rice bowl.... there is something for everyone. Service was 100% professional, the food was superb and the atmosphere was updated, clean, bright and comfortable. I couldn't ask for anything more. Place was hopping late on a Wednesday night in March - yep it's that good!

Yelp
If you are in need of a sports bar while you are out east in the Hamptons area, Springs Tavern and Grill is the place to be. The vibe is exactly what I was looking for in regards to a Sports Bar. It's not too stuffy and upscale like a lot of places in the areas. Springs Tavern is more of a local spot, where working class east enders come to watch football, have a beer, order one of the specials (which are huge and delicous by the way) and enjoy good company without judgement. They have 4 screens by the bar, one by the bathroom, which had Redzone playing, and I was able to catch my Giants (the pain, I know) as well as the rest of the games on Sunday as I was out east for work for the weekend. Nice staff, friendly management, and they also took care of my girlfriend and her friends for a bachelerette dinner when they went out east, and she said they were incredibly nice and reasonably priced for large group entertainment. Highly recommend, 5 stars!

Yelp
Came here with the girl gang for a Christmas gift exchange. It was PERFECT. The food was exquisite, and the drinks were splendid. The ambiance was so ornate and welcoming. And the servers were so comical!!!!! Especially our waiter, who was very great. 100% recommend !!!! Sincerely, The girl gang

Yelp
Came here on a Thursday evening and was shocked by how crowded it got by 6:30 pm. The food was great, service was kind of slow but all staff was friendly. Only downside was how loud it was.

Yelp
Yum! Got a FIRE blood orange limeaid after a day at the beach that hit the spot! And the mahi grilled tacos were light with a slaw that was bright and fresh! Highly recommend!

Blair S.

Yelp
Wanted to try out brunch. The hostess did not acknowledge me standing there at the desk. Without looking at me, she asked how many. I answered just me. Behind me a couple enters with children. She got 4 menus and seated them. I walked out. Needless to say I take my business and many friends elsewhere and will inform the many I introduced to this place about the disrespect.

Yelp
Absolutely unreal . the good kind of unreal. I would recommend this place to any human being who likes to eat food that tastes amazing. Very nice ambience. Wonderful staff.

Yelp
We loved it so much we went two nights in a row ! We have eaten a lot of good food on Long Island and this place is a great local favorite. I recommend it for sure. Everything is good

Yelp
Everything about this place is phenomenal! The manager/owner (alex) and all the servers always go above & beyond to make our experience that much more enjoyable.

Cherie S.

Yelp
Great place.. food is always good. Staff is attentive. Warmer weather is great to eat outside especially if there is music.

Yelp
We love this place!!! The food is incredible as is the service and atmosphere. I recommend sitting outside during the summer as the vibe is great. I love the salmon bowl, the fish is super fresh and it feels clean and healthy while still being delicious. We started with the wings which were great as well. This is one of our favorite local spots and we come year round for a reliable, delicious meal that's also not crazy expensive and away from the chaos in the high season while also having such a nice ambiance:)

Yelp
New owners and a facelift at the site of the old Wolfies in the Spring. The Springs Tavern opened midway thru July, and clearly they have developed a solid following, because parking was a challenge. No reservations, but it didn't take long at all to get an outdoor (picnic) table. We were warned by the staff upon entry that the kitchen was a bit behind, but they took our drink order right away, and not only were the drinks interesting and tasty, they were remarkably well priced for the Hamptons, at $14.00 for a mixed drink. Probably one of the reasons for the big crowd. The food eventually did arrive, and i started with the Greek salad, and others in our party had the pear salad, and the burrata. All the appetizers were not only excellent, but they were all of shareable size. There was another somewhat long wait between the appetizers and the main course, which was surprising, but the kitchen in the building is apparently fairly small. For a main course i had the "simply grilled" tuna steak with fries. The tuna was impeccably grilled, and well seasoned. The fries were crispy and tasty, but needed a bit of salt. The fish tacos, apparently one of the top orders, were tender and tasty as well. We didn't sample dessert, because by that time we were pretty tired, and a tad mosquito bitten, but all in all, it was worth the trip. Upsides: excellent food, friendly staff, available tables, reasonable prices. Downsides: difficult to park, a bit of a wait for the food, but not drinks. I expect that things will only improve, as ownership is experienced and professional. 2 thumbs up. And open year round.

Dariusz R.

Yelp
It's a great local restaurant with a nice atmosphere. The prices are reasonable, and the service is good. The establishment deserves the five stars that it gets.

Yelp
very special place. everyone is incredibly welcoming from the moment you step in. the owner personally checked in on us and our bartender and waiter were friendly and attentive. vibe is very cool mixing local comfort with upscale taste. food was great. offering vegan options which were thoughtful and filling. can't wait to come back!

Christina S.

Yelp
Amazing vibe, great service and great food! If you're looking for a good local spot this is the place to go. Owners did a great job! Sarah the bartender is great and our waiter John was great also! Highly recommend!

Denise S.

Yelp
I've eaten here numerous times. Ambiance is great.. menu is great!!! The service is terrible. Outside was not super busy .. a few unbussed tables.. seated us within 15 min... no menus. After about 10 min Alex walked by and I asked for menus.. another 5 min waitress drops menus off and we ask to give drink order. It was 30 min before the drinks were served. Food took forever to come... had to continuously ask for water by flagging down people. Another round of drinks...another 25 min... Waitress was nowhere to be found.. never checked on us. Finally brought check.. guess she knew no one wanted dessert. I'm sorry when I'm spending $600 plus on a meal I would like to be treated a bit better!!!!

Faith P.

Yelp
This is the last of the homey, real places in the Hamptons. The atmosphere is warm and friendly. The look of the place is a "clean 50's". The service is extremely polite and fast. And the food satisfies a yearning for a home-cooked meal. But best of all is Raul Rodas, part-owner and manager. He sets the tone and watches over everyone's happiness. Not to be missed, I could go there every night. I wish they would open in Wainscott. Faith Popcorn

Kim D.

Yelp
This is a great little tavern close to home. Had the chicken Milanese and it was delicious. Can't beat the nightly specials. Great outdoor seating area with a nice vibe. Staff is very accommodating and the take out is the perfect option for a late night dinner.

Yelp
The food at this restaurant would taste good but it is always cold. Today I had eggs benedict. The english muffin wasn't toasted, or even warmed, the plate was ice cold, and the eggs were cold as a result .Even the tea was cold because the pot and the cup were both cold. I've had this problem there every single time I've gone which is at least half a dozen times and TBH I won't be going back

Yelp
Food was great and our hostess was absolutely lovely. We sat outdoors and had a lovely evening. We didn't feel rushed which is so rare nowadays! Recommend to everyone visiting.

Cannonball J.

Yelp
Loud obnoxious people slamming their fists on the bar at a soccer game. Pass. Good food tho

Eduardo M.

Yelp
Wow the owners really did a nice job remodeling the restaurant. Equally good is the food. I would definitely recommend anyone who enjoys good food attentive service and ambience.
google avatar

Yelp
Wow! The fairest priced eatery in East Hampton and the food is terrific. The service is pleasant, attentive and friendly. Their seafood tacos and tortellini bolognese are two of their memorable entrées. The burgers are outstanding, as are the salads. The Bar has become a Springs favorite. The large outdoor seating area with not-too-loud music is inviting and makes the evening. Springs Tavern and Grill is the best new eatery to come along in years. Join us in enjoying them.

Alexandra M.

Yelp
Delicious food and drinks for reasonable prices. There is a great happy hour - love the atmosphere especially on the patio.

Pat K.

Yelp
Good food; well priced. Service great when not busy (bar gets very backed up). Attentive mgt, nicely decorated.....

Yelp
Fabulous spot for eats and drinks. Fun cocktails, yummy food, great beer selection, and super-nice, friendly, accommodating service, whether you're having a romantic couples evening or taking your 93-year-old mother out for a bite. The outdoor dining area is a delight!

Doug B.

Yelp
We love the bar, and the Tavern feel . The local customers are great. Heather, the Bartender is absolutely great, and super nice. she's really why we keep coming back. I just wish the food was as good as the Bar. we had some happy hour apps, and they were not good at all. It's not the first time. Basically the kitchen needs help. If you want to have a few drinks with friends and talk with nice strangers and Heather, this is the place. But the food is disappointing.

Patrick O.

Yelp
Wonderful dinner with pears ,walnut and arugula salad with the main course of fluke over cauliflower purée with baby spinach. Really delicious Thanks
google avatar

Maria G.

Yelp
Scared to post this review because I don't want my new favorite spot to get too, too crowded but this place is so good! Feels like a home away from home with delicious bites, happy hour and extremely friendly service. New ownership has done it in right. The facelift is remarkable and the space is bright, light and clean. We had an excellent time at the bar the other night with our bartenders Raoul and Fernando while we were watching some college football. French onion soup, chili, shishito peppers, pear salad and calamari were all solid choices. We live in the Springs area and we'll be back!!
google avatar

Yelp
New team took over and place is great: it's fully renovated, full bar, good chef too. Good spot to meet your neighbors
google avatar

Mark-Antonio S.

Yelp
New menu comes along with new ownership/management. Food is solid and is complimented with a great wait staff. Keep it going ST&G!!!

David B.

Yelp
Food: Excellent. Atmosphere: Not a huge place. Seating in bar area and small dining room. But always seems to be a table, even when crowded. Outdoor dining is huge with picnic tables, well spaced apart. Noise Level: Indoors: a bit loud, like most places. Outdoors: average, with some background music playing. Service: Good. Pleasant. Cost: Reasonable. Average for Hamptons. Overall: Great food, pleasant staff, great outdoor area. A, not so hidden, gem anymore. But a gem none the less. Can't go wrong here. Food is just terrific. Save room for great desserts too.

Nicholas S.

Yelp
The food, service and atmosphere were all perfect. There are so many things on there menu that caught my eye, I'll be sure to come backs. Comfortable, elegant and welcoming place with great music. Best place in the Hamptons to go with people you care about.

Yelp
We went to dinner tonight and everything was very very good. The appetizers of mussels and shishito peppers were excellent. Large plump, fresh mussels with a creamy wine sauce were terrific. The peppers were perfectly pan fried with a delicious peppery dipping sauce. The entrees were fabulous. The halibut was perfectly served; juicy and sumptuous over a bed of fresh spinach. A deliciously fresh fish that was difficult to finish considering the generous portion. The prime rib sandwich was tender and juicy and a very generous portion as well. The french fries were from freshly cut potatoes and delicious. The two half sandwiches could not be consumed at one sitting. Lunch will be wonderful tomorrow! Just a very comfortable setting, friendly and effective service coupled with fresh, hearty portions of finely cooked food makes for a must do dining experience. It's also important to add that the pricing is very fair in consideration of the quality of the food and the portion size. This is the only time I have experienced pricing this fair based upon the taste & quality of the food, portion size, service, and setting. We are looking forward to our next visit this fall and throughout the winter. We're lucky to have this dining available throughout the entire year. Well done!

Yelp
Great local spot offering delicious specials and fare. Friendly staff and regulars. Slide up to the bar, and enjoy the camaraderie and soak up the ambience. Jackson Pollock used to drink here every night before his auto accident. Other notable patrons include Lee Krasner, William deKooning and you. Yes, you. Enjoyed talking to everyone at the bar including John the bartender, Dan the owner, waiter Raoul and of course, other patrons. The Cheers of East Hampton. Onion rings, mussels and chicken wings fantastic. Wonderful craft beer selections. Can't wait to go back and sample more the menu.

Emily M.

Yelp
Unless you're an old-time local who's been drinking here for decades, you will probably not enjoy this place. I came here for lunch with my mother several years ago (not long after it reopened as Springs Tavern) and had a pretty decent lunch. The food was tasty and prices seemed fair. Returned with some friends a week back and in short--the place is gross, the food sucks, the drinks suck, AND they had the audacity to charge us for $8 for flat water and extra $$ for a glass that was lightly chipped around the rim. My friends suggested we stop in for dinner one night. A couple of us are from the area, so this is unfortunately one of the most affordable options around. We were promptly seated but had to wait forever before having our order taken. Our drinks took over 40 minutes to be made and brought to the table. All of our drinks tasted disgusting. Food took even longer and when they brought it out, they got one of the orders completely wrong. We ordered the salmon burger, they brought a beef burger--so it took even longer for them to correct the mistake. We felt bad. Our poor waiter also looked like he was the manager and profusely apologized for the wait and for the food. We were very polite and patient all things considered. At one point in the night, while pouring some of the water they bring to the table (which is bottled at least unless you specify you want tap, and costs $8!!!), I hit the bottom of the glass water bottle/carafe onto the top of my little water glass. I was going to drink it as usual but realized it chipped the edge of the glass. It wasn't broken or shattered or even sharp, but it was somewhere I (or anyone) could put their lips and potentially cut themselves, or an employee could potentially slice their hand on it. My friends urged me to ask for a new glass so I explained to the waiter what happened and he was very polite, and brought over a new glass. One of my friends took care of the bill and while going over the receipt afterwards, we were all appalled to see they charged us an extra fee for the "Pint Glass." Seriously!? Next time I'll break your glass, not tell you, and let somebody get hurt in your restaurant. While your staff or customers don't deserve that, this establishment sure does. They also have the audacity to charge a CC processing fee while we paid with a debit card. I'm pretty sure that's illegal but this place surely doesn't care about ethics. Operate like a normal business and factor those fees into your costs, don't push it onto your customers. You're a restaurant and bar, not a Five and Ten. The majority of your sales are large enough to warrant using a credit card. I heard this place was put on the market and I just hope whatever sucker buys it can do something good with this restaurant. Springs needs an affordable staple restaurant but this isn't it!

Larry Z.

Yelp
I had the crispy chicken sandwich. The breading was thicker than the chicken inside. Great bartender.

Mary Ann R.

Yelp
Amazing local restaurant redone with great food and atmosphere. Look forward to returning.

Alexandra K.

Yelp
Great local spot. Food is awesome, drinks are great. When me and my family don't want the typical "hamptons" scene and hot spots, we love to come to Springs Tavern. It has a locals only type feel. The owner Alex is super warm and welcomed my family to the neighborhood when he found out we bought a house in the springs area. Can't wait to return!

Rebecca K.

Yelp
Food was just ok, service was friendly. To loud and noisy for my taste.. After people posted nice reviews thought I would give it a try. Disappointed.
google avatar

Christina P.

Yelp
This place has brcome a townie spot. No more happy hour. We felt uncomfortable sitting at one of the spots that wasn't the bar.

Linda R.

Yelp
Love love love. I was here in the 80's (yes time flies) when it was The Birches, a total dive . We saw Pele here in the day. We had a place out here and frequented it often in those crazy days. I have not returned here since then. What an upgrade! I had the organic chicken, it was perfection. Perfectly cooked, fantastic mashed potatoes and spinach. Comfort food that was perfectly done. Will happily return. Fyi, service and wine were great too

Ben M.

Yelp
I love this place, lovely staff, good food, I will continue to be a customer. I really wish, however, they would rethink their chicken Caesar salad. The chicken is so dry it tastes like it was made on a George Forman grill. The croutons are out of the box. The lettuce was wilted because the hot chicken sat on top too long by the time it made it to the table. It's such an easy dish to make great with a little effort. Hope this is received as constructive criticism because that's how it's intended!

Niles W.

Yelp
The food, service and atmosphere were great. We ate outside, where they have picnic type tables with umbrellas. Lot of fun, all was great. Looking forward to next time!

Yelp
This is the second time we have come to Springs Tavern for dinner. I have to say they a lot of potential. The menu has a nice variety of options and offers a special on Wednesday nights. Our first visit the dining area was quiet with a number of people at the bar area. Last night was quite different. The dining room was full and appeared to be a bit close considering COVID is still present. Both times our meals were very good with special mention to the Cesar and Arugula salads. Both outstanding. The fish and chips and mussels are also winners. My only observation is that the service drops off once your order is placed. It is often hard to get anyone's attention and you can wait too long for someone to come and check or even fill a water glass. If you speed up your service and make it more attentive you'd get five stars.

Yelp
Super casual, friendly spot. Delicious fried pickles, ice cold beer. Burgers are nicely done - cooked to order with a nice crispy bark. Fries are ok, the typical starch-covered type as opposed to fresh-cut. Salmon was very good with a tasty quinoa / orzo salad. Cole slaw was also good. Nice spot for a quick bite.
