This is a rather unassuming, quirky restaurant in South Lake Tahoe, and very worth the visit.
Searching for a breakfast place that's a bit healthier and more interesting than the typical Denny's, Applebee's or Hedi's I came across this place on Goodle maps.
It's in a strip mall type location off the main drag, HWY 50, and very convenient to find with easy parking.
You walk in, order and get a number to place on a table that you choose. It appeared to me to be a very grassroots type establishment, yet well run.
Let's put it this way, it's very basic and not fancy. You get your own utensils and napkins and everything is essentially self-serve, including bussing when you're done... and, hey, nothing wrong with that.
They are geared to the healthy side of food and sustainability... OK, major kudos
I ordered a Breakfast Special that came with an orange juice, plus I ordered a coffee. The menu isn't broad yet has some interesting choices.
At first the Breakfast Special confused me when it got delivered to the table... basically an open face sandwich of an English muffin type bread with egg salad and goodies for toppings, like tomato, avacado, onions, sprouts, etc. It rather resembled a healthy Benedict. Nice! What threw me was I was expecting it to be warm , or hot, but it was cold... egg salad... so truthfully it didn't matter in that it was simply delicious, and filling too!
The coffee was piping hot, filled to the brim and some of the best tasting coffee I have had in days. BRAVO!
It's a tall container and suitable for travel, with a lid that made it convenient.
Prices are good and obviously it is billed as a 'natural food' establishment, so the quality is fresh, wholesome and quite good.
This is a really great place and I recommend a visit. Skip the chains and try a local place that has a reason to do well.
