"We’ve never waited in a line stretching down the block for a German pretzel. That’s because spots like Squabisch have never existed in the area—until now. The Berkeley bakery specializes in Swabian-style pretzels, which are as perfect as pretzels can get. Characteristics of this soft, chewy bread we’ll always make time to line up for: uneven thickness, thin arms, and fluffy bellies that get coated with sweet and savory toppings like salted caramel, cranberries, and melted asiago cheese. In other words, these pretzels practically grin at you. The rotating menu includes standbys like the bratwurst-stuffed pretzel, and the cheddar with jalapeño, plus a handful of specials. Get one of everything, then pop these beauties in the oven when you get home—they’re better slightly warm." - Lani Conway

I can't get enough of them. I always get hooked by the delicious pictures in their newsletters, and when I arrive, I want to buy them all. Pretzel, you would think, how can they make them interesting? Well, they are doing a fantastic job; I would say they have created a new lunch category, and they are killing? You have to try!!!

The varieties are really fun. The pretzel sandwich bars are so yummy. I like the frozen ones they sell in a bag. These are great warmed up in the oven.

I had heard about this place for weeks and have never managed to make it to the store but ended up taking a pretzel class and had a great time. It's a little pricey ($55) but Uli and Sabine were wonderful. Making the pretzels is easier than I imagined and there may be nothing better than a pretzel fresh out of the oven. They also provided yummy snacks and a beverage.

This is a beautiful store outside and inside. After stalking this restaurant on Instagram and after I missed pop-up events for Oktoberfest, I finally bought some pretzels. Yummy! It was well worth the wait. I scored some of the weekly specials, the pesto and mozzarella pretzel. I also bought the jalapeño and cheddar. I will never buy one of those pretzels off the street carts ever again. I used to buy Auntie Annie’s soft pretzels at the mall, but never again. I am officially a pretzel snob now. I am making plans to go back to Squabisch for the pretzel sandwiches. The fresh quality ingredients are evident in every bite.

Google
Nothing better than a pretzel made with a German recipe! The owner is from Germany and you can taste the authenticity and pure German goodness in each one. Next time I am going to try the sweet one. The girl behind me, who clearly tried them all, said it’s really super good. Way to go - starting a delicious authentic shop during Covid. I was surprised they don’t cost more.

Google
I think they have the best (i.e. most original) pretzels in the greater Bay Area. My favorites are of course the classic pretzel and the ham & cheese pretzel, which is the perfect lunch snack for a hike.

Google
Great variety of new pretzels and very friendly and welcoming staff. It was my first visit, but I guarantee I’ll be back. This place is a Ferrari of pretzel bakeries in the bay area and maybe the West Coast! Best wishes for continued success!

My wife and I went here for the first time before a Cal Football game back in November 2023 as we both really enjoy a German soft pretzel. I should note - we go to Munich two or three times a year so we think we have a good baseline of a good pretzel. This is the only place we have found in the US to have authentic German pretzels! In addition, they have our favorite pretzel cut hamburger style with a nice butter spread in between. Coupled with a light coating of salt and the soft bread of the pretzel - it's really amazing. They also have a variety of other pretzels with toppings. The owners have always been extremely friendly and genuine people every time we go - definitely a staple in Berkeley and East Bay. They also offer pretzel baking classes; we just did the class and had an amazing time. Definitely recommend for couples or families. Every time we're in the area we'll come back - highly recommend.

Yelp
Thank you so much Squabisch for making our Thanksgiving complete! Always looking forward to grabbing a pretzel to-go from the Kensington Farmer's Market, we recently saw your social media post on tiny Turkey day pretzels for the family and wow, who knew something that small could bring forth a smile so big! Making the trek on the day before Thanksgiving to your shop on Solano, what an amazing feeling to walk in and be greeted by the delicious smells of pretzels baking, salt, and butter. Such a fun array of sweet and savory pretzels, I was on a mission to only get the one thing I came for ~ the turkey pretzel. The amazing staff told me they had ONE left and it had my name on it! I let them know it was for the cutest little guy celebrating his first Turkey Day. I loved the to-go bags also, stating the best way to re-heat your pretzel/keep it fresh if not devouring it right away. I can honestly say by staying true to those instructions, the goods truly stayed fresh until the next day! Looking forward to trying more of your in-house yummies and maybe signing up for a pretzel making class! Thank you again for making our first Thanksgiving as a family so special!

Yelp
Have tried their pretzels a few times. Although not the perfect pretzels, this is still a cute place and a novelty on Solano Ave so to say. Giving one-star review for the attitude of the owners. Been wanting to do one of their pretzel workshops, looks like fun, but those are always sold-out on their website. Been watching online for a couple of months now. We stopped by their shop on the weekend to sign up for the next available one, and the guy is like follow us on Instagram blah blah. I explained to them what I was running into, but both owners seemed disinterested in helping further. I had also enquired in-person about the workshops before the holidays, the lady might have recalled. Maybe they don't need to be nice because they are popular at the moment, or they don't want people who look different than themselves to be part of their workshops. They could have easily taken my contact information and let me know when the next class sign-up opens or offered to take a payment even and I'd been totally alright with that. Either they don't know how to build these relationships, or they are snobbish. No more pretzels from here, not giving them our business any more. Cannot recommend.

Yelp
I had high hopes for Squabisch, but unfortunately, it didn't quite live up to the hype. I arrived optimistically, given the positive Yelp reviews and the expansive pretzel menu online. But quite a bit was sold out, and the one pretzel I ended up ordering was a letdown. It wasn't warm, which is kind of the whole point of a good pretzel, right? It felt more like an afterthought than the star of the show (which is what marketing suggested it would be). The service was friendly, and the vibe of the place is nice, but for the price, I expected a bit more attention to detail. Maybe I just caught them on an off day. I might give it another try, but this visit was just okay.

Yelp
I have mixed feelings about this place. I had seen them on yelp, showed up while looking up Gluten Free places. I saw them at Kensington Farmers Market. They had a sign over all of them saying gluten free! I didn't realize all their products were gf! So I asked about the gf bread flour used and they said they weren't sure. We got the Asiago cheese and cinnamon. The cinnamon was amazing! We decided to go and get more! Wow. The owner is not a friendly person. It took him a few minutes to even acknowledge us... even though he was 2 feet away. When he finally made time for us, he never smiled and seemed like we were bothering him. I was shocked to see one pretzel, labeled gluten free... only one sad plain pretzel! I informed him of the farmers market, he snapped at me, saying that was his daughter and she knows and walked away. I will say I'm surprised we didn't notice we got glutened. My daughter and I are pretty sensitive. While I only had a few bites she finished both pretzels at the farmers market. I'm not angry, just confused. And really did not like the way the owner acted in general. If you have interest in coming here, I suggest going to the farmers market instead, the daughter is lovely and friendly! If you're gf, I'd say skip it, we still ordered a gf pretzel and there's a lot better ones out there. And they're kept with regular pretzels, they don't care about sensitivity's here.

Lisa T.

Yelp
I had a couple of dry and overpriced pretzels. Not impressed unfortunately. Came in with high expectations.

Yelp
Today I paid my first visit to the brick and mortar store. I was taking something to be framed at Sticks, which is right next door, and lucked into the parking space right in front of Squabisch, next to their parklet. My attention was caught by a pretzel dough sign hanging in the window reading "Hella Kamala" so I knew I had to come visit after I finished at Sticks. When Squabisch opened here there were long lines, one of the things that deterred me, but there was no line today. There was a man waiting outside for his sandwich to be made and a family w/ two children ordering in front of me. I hadn't intended to buy anything because I was full from lunch at Bowl'd but when I saw the Castroville pretzel, which contains chopped artichokes, I had to have it and then when I saw the bratwurst wrapped in pretzel dough I had to have that too. Sabine helped me and she was lovely. I commented on the "Hella Kamala" sign and she said they had had a fundraiser a couple of weeks ago and that was part of that. They also made t-shirts which said "Hella Harris Totally Tim 2024", which I loved. The shirts were white, which I normally don't wear, but I may go back and buy one just to support. Tonight I had the Castroville pretzel for dinner, along w/ Picnic salads and the leftover banchan I brought home from Bowl'd. I'm inclined towards unusual combination of things for dinner. I warmed the pretzel in the oven and it was marvelous. Tomorrow for lunch I will have the bratwurst and am looking forward to that. If I do go back for a shirt I have no doubt I will get another Castroville pretzel if they have them. Addendum: I had the bratwurst pretzel for lunch today, as you can see from the photo, and it was delicious! I can see more of these in my future. Not often, but often enough. As planned, I returned before going to TSH this afternoon for another Castroville pretzel and for a shirt. Turns out the way they handle it is that you make a donation to the campaign, show them your receipt and they give you a shirt. Well, I have made a donation already. I told Sabine I wasn't that interested in the shirt, just in supporting them, because I don't wear white shirts anyway. Black, or other colors, but not white. She went in the back, came back w/ a black shirt that was just my size and gave it to me! You can see the photos below. I will wear it w/ pleasure.

Yelp
One of the most unique snack places on Solano Avenue. If you're ever in the mood for a non-chain related pretzel, this is the place for you. There are so many pretzels to choose from! The staff are very friendly and the service is outstanding. I would highly recommend Squabisch to anyone!

Alexa A.

Yelp
Fantastic pretzels! They have a bunch of flavours you might not expect at a pretzel shop. I love that they offer pretzel making classes as well! I had a spectacular time a couple years back making pretzels with friends. Highly recommend. The owners are awesome :)

Christine H.

Yelp
Honestly, we came for the pretzel art and because of the name of the place, which reminded us of "ya bish." Lol, but to top it off, we noticed how appetizing the pics of the unique pretzels were and how affordable they were (around $5ish for the regular sized ones). After having a difficult time choosing, we settled with the Reuben. The flavorful pastrami, cheese, and caraway seed combo made this pretzel so savory and delicious. The pretzel bread itself wasn't that fresh though (but makes sense they don't bake it right away/heat it up on the spot). Service was fine. There isn't very much indoor seating, but they do have a few seats outside.

Yelp
Yummy! German Food with a California Twist After stalking this restaurant on Instagram and after I missed pop-up events for Oktoberfest, I finally bought some pretzels. It was well worth the wait. I scored some of the weekly specials, the pesto and mozzarella pretzel. I also bought the jalapeño and cheddar. I will never buy one of those pretzels off the street carts ever again. Yelp
Had a wonderful time during their baking class- easy and fun and took home the baked pretzels.

Colette Z.

Yelp
Amazing pretzels! I placed an advanced order for a party and they were ready and very freshly made! My guests LOVED them! I hope to order more soon

Kendea A.

Yelp
I really enjoyed it here. Such sweet service. The pretzel was yummy and so was the coffee. A really nice little breakfast treat, and such great variety. They deserve recognition for what they've cultivated at this location. Thank you friends!

Tracy D.

Yelp
I come here often for a quick snack since it's close to home. Pretzels are soft, fresh, and tasty. I appreciated how they were able to make a special, big "17" pretzel and smaller ones for my son's birthday since he's not a cake person but loves pretzels. I emailed the order in and picked up a couple days later. It was quick and easy and a big hit for the birthday boy and guests. Thanks! We'll be back again.

Rawan E.

Yelp
This is the perfect stop for a quick munch on the go. All the pretzels are baked right behind the counter, everything is warm and fresh, flavors are varying, there's something for everyone. A wide variety of mustards to dip your pretzel in. I recommend the artichoke pretzel!

Victor G.

Yelp
Squabisch opened in La Bedaine's space several times a week. their niche is German style baked pretzels. take out only. offerings: classic bagels, sweet & savory bagels, new menu every week posted on window. eats: vegan with salt(4) -don't remember eating it. fughi thyme (5) -firm crunchy texture, bold notes of crimini mushrooms, thyme & mozzarella cheese. peach crumble (5) -same crunchy texture with baked on peach flavored particles on bottom. has flavor essence of peach cobbler. crusts: -unique tasting bakes. goes good with german styled mustard, stout/porter beers. tastier than a bagel not as utilitarian-doubtful use as sandwich vehicle.

Yelp
Just had my first gluten free pretzel from Squabisch. Now open on Wednesday's, I was excited to finally try this spot. I try to avoid gluten and inflammatory food in general, so stopping for a pretzel was a treat. The space is inviting and friendly. Many options if you're not gluten free. If you are gluten free, salt is your only option. For $5 I figured I'd try it. It was OK. I'm not the best judge of this spot since I'm not really the target market. I just had to try it since There is always a line and there's been a buzz. Sorry to say, I don't think I'll need another $5 ok-ish gluten free pretzel, and that's the only reason for 4 stars. If you're there with a group and prefer gluten free it's nice that there's and option. Otherwise, if you are gluten free, save the $5 and your appetite for something yummier.

Josue M.

Yelp
Walked by and saw a pretzel store. Lots of different options available. Service was good. Also has frozen options to take home. Would try again.

Joan A.

Yelp
I generally love supporting local businesses, but Squabisch didn't hit the mark for me. It's possible I haven't tried enough of their menu to give a fair judgment, so I will likely try it again and update the review at that time. I tried the standard salted pretzel as well as the cheesy pretzel ball. The latter was worth the $3 but the former ($4) was a bit too hard and crusty for my liking. They are given to you room temp. There are also limited hours, so you'll want to make sure they're open before you try coming here! The pretzels are already made so service is generally quick - you just pick up and go.

Ban K.

Yelp
Not as great a pretzel as I had hoped TBH. Went over there and drove for 45 mins just because I was really wanting a pretzel and there are so few places that do them. Went for the large one - not cheap, was OK but just OK. Little dry but mainly just lacking in the taste.

Emmeline W.

Yelp
All the pretzels you could possibly desire~ Squabisch finally moved into a brick-and-mortar location after their success at the farmar. This Solano lot used to be La Bedaine, the French bakery. While locals are still mourning old-fashioned eclairs and palmiers, I think Squabisch brings the same flavor and authenticity in German pretzel form. We've tried several here (classic, asiago, jalapeno & cheddar, funghi)-- they're constantly rotating new flavors which keeps us coming back! They're crisp and firm on the outside, fluffy loveliness on the inside. Each ingredient they experiment with adds a fun dimension to the already-delicious pretzel. The staff are friendly and happy to answer any questions as well. NOTE: Only open Weds-Sun. Recommend visiting early in the day, they sell out of a lot of flavors fast!

Ray B.

Yelp
Here we go - you can tell the owner had a dream. Only selling pretzels, I'm not sure how he manages it, but bless him for trying. This was different from the pretzels I grew up eating from vendors outside Madison Square Garden. As pretzels go, it was the Boichik version of a NY bagel. If you read my review of Boichik, that's not good. I wish the business owner luck since he comes off as a nice, ambitious person, but I can't see myself returning when I can always get a better pretzel from a street vendor outside MSG. BB

Manny B.

Yelp
I recently had the pleasure of finding Squabisch during a stroll down Solano Ave. in Albany, and overall, I had a great experience. The restaurant focuses on pretzels, and they are delicious. The menu is limited but well-curated and I particularly enjoy the ham and cheese option. They do run out quickly, so come early! I give it 4/5 starts because the salting of the pretzels is inconsistent. Sometimes it's a little too heavy and other times it feels like they forgot to add it. Logistics: There is a good amount of street parking on Solano Ave., but spots fill quickly, so you might have to park a little further and walk a little, but well worth it!

Ed U.

Yelp
The pandemic has yielded at least one good thing. It forced owner Uli Elser to drop out of a music industry career he grew tired of and pursue his passion - making hand-crafted pretzels based on his mother's recipe. The rest of us have become the beneficiaries of his professional redirection because they are tasty creations even if they dance on the edge of a pretzel and veer slightly into fresh rolls. That's because he adds milk and butter to the standard bread flour and water found in the ballpark variety. Purists may balk, but are you going to challenge a Schwabisch German mother? Jamie W. and I decided to pay a Sunday visit to Elser's small bakery storefront on Solano Avenue. There were about ten people in line, which was a lot less than the number waiting on their opening weekend. A neighboring store even had a sidewalk chalk message to not block their entrance. While there was a menu of choices in the window, it took looking at the pretzels in the display case to make up our minds. We knew we needed to order the $4 Pretzel Classic which was sprinkled generously with Maldon salt (photo: https://bit.ly/3GEyY9U). That was definitely the right starter. We then went for the more indulgent $4.50 Asiago. It was encrusted with melted salty cheese (photo: https://bit.ly/3BbZ6Yj). Our third shared pretzel was the least pretzel-like, the $5 Pesto & Mozzarella because it tasted like a pizza with a softer crust (photo: https://bit.ly/35WRQE9). Last but certainly not least was the $8 Pretzel Brat, which was a truly German take on a bagel dog (photo: https://bit.ly/3LltAfl). It was nice to get some protein with all those carbs. I believe it was Uli's wife Sabine who happily served us, and we look forward to trying more of their endless pretzel logic. FOOD - 5 stars...really liking the variety here even if my hips didn't AMBIANCE - 4 stars...no seating, just a clean spot to order, grab and go SERVICE - 4.5 stars...very conscientious and responsive TOTAL - 5 stars...if pretzels are your passion RELATED - Strolling Solano Avenue? Yelp
We used to get Squabisch pretzels from the farmers market before they had their brick and mortar store. I decided to brave the line on a Saturday morning, arriving shortly after 12 and the line was already to the corner. It did move at a good pace and took about 15 mins to get to the storefront. Hands-down favorite is the jalapeno cheddar pretzel. Pretzels are best enjoyed after a short toasting. I'd likely come back but only to get the jalapeno cheddar or other season pretzels.

Mercy H.

Yelp
Delicious, moist, germany style pretzels! Worth of line up ( the line moves fast). Savory pretzel are specials, my fave is cheddar jalapeno. My sweet pretzel fave is cinnamon Nice area to stroll arounds! Give em a try!

Melissa N.

Yelp
Pretzels were delicious! We arrived about 12:50 pm on Saturday and had a 20 minute wait to order. One party at a time in the shop. There's a menu posted outside and inside you can see the menu items in a display case. We got the cinnamon sugar twist, asiago and football shaped roll with swiss and gruyere. The cinnamon sugar twist is amazing. Definitely buy more than one! It's hard to share. I love asiago so no surprises there that this one was delicious as well. I got the football shaped roll for fun and the spirit of super bowl coming up. The pretzels was fine and I love how the shop had themed items (like heart shaped for Valentine's), however, the cheese combination was not for me. I highly recommend checking this place out!

Lawrence H.

Yelp
MENU AND FOOD: They serve a variety of German pretzels as well as pretzel rolls! SERVICE AND ATMOSPHERE: Service was friendly and efficient. Their indoor decor is appropriate and appealing. They don't have indoor dining. PARKING: Located in Berkeley, they have metered street parking. IMPRESSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS: We came to their grand opening excited to try out their pretzels at around 2 PM; so understandably, they did run out of a few flavors. I'm a fan of pretzels and even planned attend their pretzel making class as well! We had their Castroville (artichoke) and jalapeño and cheddar pretzels, both of which were sadly underwhelming. They were a bit dry and did not taste freshly made. However, we're hoping it was in part due to the overwhelming demands of opening day, and will be back in the future to give them another try.

Christine L.

Yelp
I bought one of each flavor for a bunch of my friends and I to do a taste test! If pretzels are your thing, I definitely recommend this as a group activity. It was fun to try everything from sweet to savory without having to consume a ton of pretzels on my own. I definitely prefer the savory cheesy flavors but everything was delicious! Even the vegan one which I was a little skeptical about. The textures were on point and never too dry!

Ronna I.

Yelp
I finally got the chance to try their pretzels. We tried the Pretzel Brat, Prosciutto & Asiago, and the Ricotta & Meyer Lemon Zest. The most flavorful was the Prosciutto & Asiago. The Ricotta & Meyer was good too. The lemon flavor was abundant. Before eating, I warmed them in the oven on low heat for about 10 minutes. It was just enough to freshen them up without drying them out. Only had to wait 10 minutes though the line did seem long. This was a Sunday around 1:00pm. I think it looked long because people were socially distanced. The line moved quickly. If I'm in the neighborhood again, I would definitely stop by again.

Raya K.

Yelp
I came here for a pretzel making class, and really enjoyed the lesson plus the mini history lesson we got from the couple. It's a really sweet story, so take the time to chat with them after class! We got to make a bunch of pretzels using a modified version of their classic recipe, and then sat outside to eat all the various pretzels. Fun!

Tony W.

Yelp
Great pretzels of all types and flavors. Friendly owner. Don't forget to ask them to heat the pretzel up for you.

Ira L.

Yelp
If you love pretzels like I do, just go here. Server/baker (and maybe owner?) is really friendly. The pretzels are amazing and the variety is off the charts. My pretzel dream house!

Cat N.

Yelp
What a cute little area! We had never been to this street so we had fun walking up and down Solano while we waited for Squabisch to open at 11 am. It is a really cute little place. So tiny! Thankfully Barney's is next door if you need to use a restroom. We ordered the apricot crumble pretzel and the hubs got a hotdog type pretzel. We enjoyed them both. It's worth the drive and there are so many coffee shops and crystal shops nearby so that you can amble along the dog friendly area for quite a while!

William C.

Yelp
Delicious pretzels and really cool pretzel designs displayed throughout the store. Great place to grab a snack or quick bite.

Morgan Z.

Yelp
I've been wanting to stop into Squabisch for a while now and finally made it in today! It fulfilled all my pretzel dreams and more. We tried the prosciutto and asiago, blackberry crumble and the pretzel brat. They were all soooooo good! I wanted to take them home and warm them up a bit but I was too hungry and they tasted too good that we finished them before getting home haha. That's also why I didn't get any photos of them first! Next time we'll grab a few more to eat later. I would 10/10 recommend stopping in the grab a soft pretzel or 5 or them. They have a good variety and switch up their menu often with new yummy flavors.

Neesh S.

Yelp
They best way I can explain this place is imagine a mall Pretzel place, BUT how its actually supposed to taste when its made with love and care. Very delicious pretzels with a unique set of flavor options. We just carried out while walking and had a chives and butter pretzel and a jalapeño cheddar. The chives and butter was so unique because its sliced in half, like a sandwich and then stuffed with the good stuff. The topped pretzel was also super delicious. Through everything the pretzels are sturdy but still nice and soft. GO HERE!

Becky B.

Yelp
Love this place! I have tried several of their savory pretzels since moving in down the street. The pretzels have enough bite to them without being hard, great chew, and just the right amount of salt. My all time favorite is the anchovy and caper pretzel. I will be stocking up the next time this one is on the menu. Had the Stilton cheese pretzel over the weekend which knocked my socks off, so good! Highly recommend giving them a try, you'll be back for more.

Samir K.

Yelp
One of many new places that started during the pandemic as a pop-up/takeaway, and now has a brick and mortar. I wish I had gone with a more empty stomach, because everything on the menu looked and smelled delicious. Keep in mind these aren't the enormous Oktoberfest pretzels, nor are they shitty baseball stadium ones- just really tasty things to eat!

Kristine M.

Yelp
My coworker was craving pretzels so we drove all the way from dixon to here. There was no line which was good. there was a good selection of pretzels. I think i was expecting a warm fresh pretzel. The one I ordered was a little hard. There is no seating to enjoy your pretzel. We sat down but the seating belonged to the restaurant next door. This place does have potential though because of the variety.

Tiffany Y.

Yelp
I found out about this place from Bake Sum since they were doing a special collab pretzel croissant. By the time I wanted to order they were already out of stock so I decided to try the rosemary ham and cheese pretzel instead. First off, I was super impressed by all the variety and flavors they had. There were sweet pretzels, savory pretzels, pretzel buns, and even buns with cool fillings like uni! I've had pretzels from other places that were dry, but this one from Squabisch wasn't. It was nice and moist, with really great rosemary flavor. The one thing was that it was a bit too salty for me, but I figure that's just how pretzels are supposed to be. It probably would've tasted even better if I had been able to heat it up at home. In the future, I would be interested in trying their other pretzels since they were spot on with the rosemary ham and cheese flavor.

William A.

Yelp
Great for a quick bite when you happen to be nearby. The pretzels don't quite measure up to the cart pretzels from my NYC youth, but still good enough when that old craving hits. Decent prices and nice selection, although I stick to the basic plain and the torpedo roll so can't comment on the more exotic offerings. Definitely better than a ballpark pretzel. Overall, I'd say its a solid 7 out of 10, but giving it 5 stars because I hope they can stick around. No other place like it nearby that I have found.

Marck N.

Yelp
I have been waiting to try this place for sometime and happy to have finally made that day come true. I ordered the pretzel brat and the garlic & pecorino pretzel. Both are very savory pretzels. The garlic & pecorino was very cheese forward. The cheese is baked on the bottom of the pretzel. This would make a good snack. The pretzel brat I wish was larger, as I eat mines in 4 bites. Though it was 4 delicious bites. I enjoyed the taste of the pretzel and how it was wrapped around the brat. I found myself unpeeling it as I ate it. The flavor of the brat was also good, as I am not really a sausage person. Service was fast and friendly, as there was no line when I went.

Yelp
This is a really cute neighborhood pretzel shop that's extremely fitting in little ole Albany on Solano Ave. They have only been open for 3 months with limited business hours from 12pm to sell out. I'm not a pretzel expert but I do love checking out local specialty businesses like these. They have a variety of pretzels - savory and sweet. I got their funghi thyme, castroville, and asiago. Being a mushroom lover, I knew I would love funghi thyme the most and greedy me wanted more mushrooms on my pretzel! The asiago was delicious as well and would recommend. Heating them up at 225F in the air fryer for 6 minutes was perfect for me (they recommended 10 minutes). Hot, toasty, crunchy yet slight chew. A little pricey at $4 - $5 each, but each are handmade and made with care. I like how they flavor mainly one side of the pretzel so you can still taste the original flavor of the pretzel, which they are clearly experts at.

Yelp
I live off these pretzels. I'm not joking, I have one a day, usually in place of lunch or as a midnight snack. Not exactly a health food, but far better than takeout or potato chips or something. By their own admission, these aren't quite German pretzels, but they're definitely not the flabby, buttered mall pretzels either. They aren't even the Super Pretzels you get at the game (though those are probably the closest analog). These are a very solid, dependable pretzel you can eat and love anytime. They have all sorts of inventive flavors, but I'm a plain salted classic man myself. Can't go wrong with the original; it's classic for a reason. Though I always ask for ones with more salt on them, since that's what separates a good pretzel from twisted bread to me. The real play here is to get their frozen pretzels. They're day-olds that they freeze at the end of the day, so you can feel good about combating food waste. But the real benefit for you is that they're half the price as the fresh ones, and taste even better than fresh if you pop them on your toaster oven for 15 minutes. Like, if you gave me the choice of one of their normal classics in the shop, or a frozen fresh out of my toaster oven, I'd choose the frozen. The only drawback is all the salt falls off in the packaging and freezing process, but you can just spray it with some water before baking and sprinkle on some course salt. This also allows you to control the salt level to your taste ("make it rain" is my philosophy) and the water spray helps the texture during reheating, so that the outside isn't tough and the inside is soft (this also works for any stale bread--spray the outside with water and reheat in a hot oven for 5-10 minutes for a fresh baked taste!).

Yelp
Unfortunately when I got here a bit before 11AM, they were closed even though the door was unlocked and I walked into a room with hot pretzels fresh out of the oven. I took a picture of their new hours but I find their hours really inconvenient. I would think that lots of people would like a pretzel for breakfast and want something a bit more substantial for lunch but they open at lunchtime (noon) so I wish their hours were more in line with when people would like a snack or light morning meal. Maybe I'll come back at noon another day but not anytime soon.

Yelp
Fresh, flavorful and fantastic pretzels. They're also very nice people. I come here every weekend. I used to get their pretzels at the Farmers Markets so I'm glad they now have a brick and mortar store. Plus they're Square sellers which I appreciate, paying is easy peasy.

Yelp
I was not much of a pretzel fanatic until today, and now I am a convert. Saw a rerun of Check, Please Bay Area over the weekend, who did a great review of this business. They have limited days when they are open so I marked my calendar for today at 11am, thinking that there would be a line down the block, not. A nice neighborhood pretzel bakery, welcoming staff, I think the person who assisted was the co-owner based on what I saw on TV. Nice list of options. I thought, I spent the time and ga$ to come here, why not get at least 4? I just finished enjoying the butter and chive, and look forward to scheduling the eating of the dulce de leche, Kalamata and Meyer lemon, and of course the classic before they go stale. Go try out a few. Yum!

Yelp
I was gifted a cheese spread from Wisconsin that I thought would pair perfectly with a pretzel. Now that some time has passed since this place's grand opening, there was no need to worry about a wait. Same goes for parking, normal Solano parking gambles. I was in and out in under 5 minutes, my walk here from my parked car might've been longer. I ordered some originals and was on my merry way to recreate a movie theater experience at home. As before, they were good. Only down side was that a noticeably long hair was baked into the pretzel and it was rather unappetizing. As someone who has made pretzels and has hairy arms, I know things happen. I would just hope next time there is some quality control because I noticed it as soon as I took it out of the bag and think the workers should have too. Tip, check your pretzels before leaving the area.
