Bartender was right -- lamb gyro was the way to go. Huge draft beer selection! Love that! Nothing disappointed, nothing blew me away. Solid place to grab a burger, no matter what style you like!

Prominent real estate in downtown McKinney . We found ourselves here looking for a patio dinner on a nice night. A seat yourself place with no frills and a surprisingly great menu. Also a simple drink selection. Would return , as the menu as something for everyone

This place was literally so good. The food? Amazing! The service? Amazing! Words can not describe how good the pasta I got was. WILL be coming back.

Chilli cheese fries were canned chilli and jared jalapeños. Chef featured Bay shrimp scallops mac was full of frozen and imitation ingredients. Both were awful. Tartar sauce for fish and chips was spoiled. Kids macaroni were made with powdered cheese and clearly not mixed enough. Service was terrible and took forever even with it not being packed. 10/10 would not recommend.

Amazing place if you are craving absolutely delicious burgers or, in my case, hot dogs. I honestly tried the chili cheese dog for the first time, and it was so good. The sausage was juicy, and the bun had a crispy exterior following a soft interior with a bomb of flavor. The service was great too. All I want to point out is that the wait was a bit long and the outside table was a bit dirty. The food definitely made up for it tho, definitely worth trying.

My father and I stopped by this Burger joint, and we were both pleasantly surprised. My father said it was the Best Burger he had in a very long time. I must concur, the burger I ordered really hit the spot. I will definitely stop by this place again, the next time I’m in the area, and I will be sure to bring my wife.

This is one of my favorite burgers in DFW. The location in the heart of Mckinney downtown historic area is amazing... the blue/mushroom burger with fried pickle is tasty 😋

They really like the vibes here as the waiter never checked on us as the staff wanted the playlist to be perfect. Since the waiter never checked on us we could never order a burger. Gave it two stars instead of one as I was able to try the onion strings and they were pretty good. Hopefully they get new management.

Love this place. Every other place was packed so we stumbled upon this gem. There is ample outdoor and indoor seating. They have a full bar and a large menu full of options. I typically don't eat beef burgers so I opted for the tuna burger! Wow it's was so flavorful and the waiter was right; it tasted like sushi. The sweet potato fries were bomb. Better than the regular fries. The service was great and good came out quickly even with it being a busy Saturday. Overall looking forward to coming back. Such a good place for families and friends to gather. Very laid back atmosphere.

Set in quiet, unhurried oldtown McKinney, nice minimalist dream spot. Just step in, pick a seat, and drink order taken almost as soon as you sit. Server greets you nicely. Laid back 70s rock playing... Doobie bros., Chicago, love the vibe of soft 70s rock? This is heaven.. "Momma Told Me Not to Come".. is playing now. Mine didn't tell me not to come here. Had she, I would've anyway. It's Sunday, but they have a nice little crowd. This means they must be serving up good eats. Wife order a classic cheeseburger, I ordered a BBQ cheddar with onion strings. Will let you know after what the flavors were like. Pictures do not do the big burger taste justice. As gorgeous as they look, they taste 1000% better. Onion straws? Perfectly seasoned, not salty, not greasy at all. Perfectly done. Came out to view new homes in Melissa. Sadly, unless we buy out here, we won't be able to just drive the hour from Hurst for this burger. If you live within a half hour, well worth it. Peace y'all.

Okay, so we didn't actually eat here tonight.... We sat down, got a couple waters and looked over the menu and we just weren't feeling it. It didn't seem like the burgers came with any sides, so a side of French fries were $3-6 extra. However, the waiter was fast and friendly. We might give this place another shot some other time. But tonight it just didn't do it for us.

First, the service has been great the couple of times we have been there, Nick and Graysen welcomed us and our dog Leonard to their patio on a very hot day and were happy to serve us. They have a grilled cheese appetizer that is out of this world, I have tried their bleu burger with sweet potato fries, while my wife had their salmon entree, and we share our food so I can say that the quality of food and service you get here is the best in town in my opinion.

Mediocre in my opinion. They have wide choice of burgers with creative ingredients. I had the Stadium Burget and my husband had mushroom border burger. They were decent but not super impressive. I had high expectations on the onion strings but they came out lukewarm and not fresh. Seemed like both the fries and the onion strings were sitting out for a while before they came to our table. Service was not bad but wasn't great either. Had to ask for silverware and napkins and took a while to grab their attentions.

Food is a 10 out of 10 service Great, ambience is chill. I dove in before taking a photo, and had to pause to make this review because it was so yummy!

I have been on a journey with Square Burger since they opened. They were pretty great out the gate with some of my favorite food in the DFW area, then during the pandemic the service and maintenance of the establishment went downhill. They since seen a change of ownership and things are looking up inside. Service is still not the best, but the booths and tables are once again cared-for. All this being said, the food has been consistently good through it all. The sweet potatoes, shoestring-thin and dusted with cinnamon sugar, are an absolute standout and will convince anyone that sweet potato fries can be even better than regular. The mushroom burger has always been my go-to favorite. It's unassuming and simple but tastes fantastic. I've brought friends here from Houston and they left wanting to make another trip to Mckinney for the food. Part of that is down to Square Burger, for sure. I'll keep coming back every time I'm in town. PS-they added two tvs, one for kids, one for sports! Great addition to keep kids' attention

Came here with my parents. Ordered the pork chop and man was it juicy and flavorful. Mom got the turkey burger. It was good but needed something. My dad didn't speak until after he finished the chili burger. Great service and chill vibes

waitress referred to me as sir! found a HAIR in my what i discovered to be a SUPERIORLY BLAND square burger. do not recommend.

Food, great. Service, exemplary. Ambiance, yes. We stumbled upon Square Burger just walking around downtown McKinney, and it was a good idea. Zachary, our wait-person, was personable and attentive. I particularly enjoyed the onion rings. My salmon burger was pretty tasty as well.

I'm not sure what I was expecting. Now. To be fair, I didn't get a burger, because I was trying to be "healthy" and clean eat, so I got the chicken plate, it was very tasteless. Loud. Busy. Service was ok, kind of slow. Liked the decor. Cozy, but again loud (I get over stimulated a lot, so small busy spaces, not my thing) crowds, or really crowded places make me panic. BUT THEYRE KNOWN FOR AMAZING BURGERS, so try one and let me know On a slow day, when it's not super busy, I'd definitely try a burger.

Always great food and friendly service! My wife and I have visited many times, and we enjoy trying out new draft beers! It's also great for people watching.

Good burgers, salad, Mac & Cheese with a decent beer and wine list. This used to be one of my favorite places if I was in McKinney but Something has changed. They are often out of wines, the sweet hostess (who was the mom of one of the owner's son friends) is gone and the waitstaff is more typical. They are fine, not as friendly, knowledgeable or attentive but the food is fairly similar. It's still worth a visit but perhaps lower the bar a bit if someone told you to try it.

Great burgers - but terrible service if you're a solo diner. Only come here if you're in a group. Looking through prior reviews, it appears my experience late afternoon on Saturday August 12th isn't unique: some patrons are warmly greeted and served rapidly, while others are neglected or (as in my case) completely ignored by the waitstaff after being seated. This was my second visit here and the experience was shockingly negative this time around. After watching the waitstaff fawning over parties seated after I had arrived, I handed the menu back to the person who seated me and told them I was going elsewhere, to any place where the servers would actually see me. The stench of bad service lingers much longer than the aroma of food offerings.

My favorite burger joint! You can't get any better. The Lamb Burger is delicious! I didn't even get a picture because I was in a rush to dive in. The sweet potato fries are also good. Wings are a great option. Soups are great. I don't think you can go wrong. Service is excellent. Nick is the the best! He took care of us during the Texas Music Festival while the place was packed and it was pouring out...we were never missing anything and he even managed to sneak in a little conversation while I'm sure he was in the weeds. Lincoln was also super helpful and had a great attitude.

Waited 20 minutes and they served everyone around us and when we asked multiple people they just brushed us off. Then proceeded to serve the people that just came in 30 seconds drinks and food right away. Won't even make it an obvious race issue. Just a bunch of crappy people who can't manage anything I will NEVER EVER RETURN HERE AND I HOPE OTHER PEOPLE DONT AS WELL.

If you read my other reviews, you'll know I very rarely give 5 stars but Square Burger ticks every box! First, cool place. Tall ceiling covered in stamped tin from way back but the rest of the decor is hip and modern. The backsplash for the beer taps is covered in a beautiful, blue mosaic. There is a long L shaped bar that looks like a great place to sample one of the many beers on tap. Even the floor is cool w flecks of blue shimmering in the sunlight. But I know you're not looking for a review of the decor. You want to know "How's the food?". Answer; freakin great! But go in w your eyes open. It is a burger restaurant. That's what you will get and if you like burgers, you will be blown away. My daughter and I both got the High Society Burger (hey, who doesn't like prosciutto?). She ordered fries and I went for onion rings. After we ordered we sat and were chatting. I figured it would take a while, but after 15-20 minutes, the waitress came to the table and told us they lost our ticket but she had it memorized and the food would be right out. She also told us to pick out a dessert which we would get on the house. I have worked in restaurants before and I know that issues crop up and can recognize when a restaurant has a culture of growth and accountability. Square Burger earned 2 extra stars for quickly addressing the snafu, correcting the problem ASAP and putting a little sugar on the solution. No drama just service. The burgers were done perfectly and my daughter loved her thin, crispy fries. But she was sad that she didn't order the onion rings once she had one of mine. I can't decide which was better; the burger or the rings! And our server was so absolutely cool. I wish I caught her name, but if you run into a young lady w waist long hair and bad ass biceps, tip her extra!

Man this place always slaps ! Turkey salad and fish n chips sandwich looked and tasted delicious. Shout out to the root beer floats! Loved the crew here, always smiling and a welcoming atmosphere.

Waited for them to clear a table outside for 20 min. They cleared two other tables for people that arrived after me, took their drink orders, and even acknowledge me and my family the whole time. Pretty poor service, and after being a long-time patron of this place, I'll not be back...

I have been here three times. Each time I was helped by Nick at the Bar. Overall a Very real person, made my dinning experience fantastic. The restaurants looks very modern and is clean. Though, the celling is high with little sound proofing and that's causing a bit of a noisy environment during peak dining hours. The burgers are solid as hell, as well as the seafood mac & cheese. It's a burger place you should get a burger, like come on be for real. Great selection of drinks on tap.

I will say they serve an amazing burger and thin onion fries. The service however was really poor. The servers themselves are so sweet, but they are being ran ALL over the place with, what it seems, no direction. You are allowed to sit anywhere you like, so you have to run for a table. Then the servers don't seem to have designated areas to serve so you are waiting a long time to order, for your food, and the check out. We were there for a total of 1 hour and 40 mins, the majority just waiting for someone to take our order. I would hope they would change the system and have a hostess to seat you and servers more organized. I felt so bad for the workers. It was obvious how stressed everyone was, even the customers.

Good Burgers! Really decent! Never disappoint. For beer lovers you got such and maxing tap selection. However the place seems to be poorly managed. The service is always all over the place, some things go fast some forever slow. The floor was very dirty and messy and the benches were ripped. A little effort and this place can be a constant winner.

Bad service. Bad food. The only good things were the beer menu and the patio. I would not recommend or return here...unless it was for a beer on the patio.

Atmosphere needs updating Cleanliness is subpar Menus are very worn Food is okay but has been better in the past The area needs a great burger place and we hope Square Burger could fill that role in the future.

I really like Square Burger! Nice & laid back atmosphere. Floor plan is very open! What's funny is that I've actually never tried their burgers before! Whenever I stop by, I get their soup and salad and it is always so delicious! The location of Square Burger is also SOOO convenient! Usually if I'm shopping around in downtown McKinney, I'll pop in here to grab a bite. They also have a wide variety of beers to choose from as well! Great spot with great food.

The restaurant was so delicious! It wasn't too busy so we were sat immediately, and our server was super sweet. We didn't get much food just some munchies, but either way they were delicious! The onion rings were super well done and the mac & cheese was very good too. It's always clean, they played great music, and have a large assortment of choices. Except if you're vegan. Then you have to get the house salad no cheese. If I were the owner I would consider adding some kind of vegan burger, impossible, beyond, or even a black bean signature patty. Seeing as I'm vegan I couldn't really get dinner here haha! But it was a good vibe!

Been meaning to leave a review for this place for a long time. Seems kind of inconspicuous on the corner. A little hard to tell it's a restaurant... but the service there is good. Severs are fast and friendly. The fries were delicious , as well as the bleu burger . Yum!!! The chicken strips taste really good and fresh ! I recommend this little place because the food is always good every time I go here!

Really enjoyed my burger, the sauces, and the salad. You get a fried pickle on the side as a nice surprise! The waiter who took my to go order was incredibly kind and went out of his way to get my meal out faster since I was on a time crunch. Service seemed slow overall. The outdoor patio is the place to be and I would sit outside if I came back. Great burger spot.

SONIC has better burgers and so much cheaper. Avoid this place. Overprice overrated everything.

I ate at this place yesterday 7/28/23. I must have waited 30 minutes or longer for food. The waiter never checked to see how the food was and I had to ask for my check when I was ready to leave. I also had to ask twice for a container for the burger my wife didn't eat. The waiter seemed to be somewhere else in his mind. The medium burger was as tough as leather and cooked very well done. No condiments at all. Just a dry bun. The fries seemed to be the small leftover pieces. My drink was empty about half way through eating, I was never offered any more. Just had to choke down the dry food. It wasn't a very busy time , so not sure why the food and service were not up to any standard. I'll not be going back..... Ticket #- 11201056

I was at square burger today with my boss and some partners for a lunch meeting, I ordered a burger made as a salad due to a gluten sensitivity. There was a bunch rotten greens slimy mush, the "burger" to salad ratio was absolutely insane. The mountain of greens and lack of literally anything else was shocking. Typically I would have sent the food back but again this was a business lunch. The staff were great, attentive, quick and I appreciate that aspect, the food was a huge miss.

There's no other place that sells luscious burgers like Square Burger. Ordered a fish sandwich with a root beer and side sweet potato fries and it is just unbelievably delicious. Highly recommend coming here with your friends and family. Got to give Craig and Isabel a shoutout for their management and service in this restaurant. Well deserved 5 stars

Yum! Casual food done right! Went to Square Burger for lunch for the first time today. Definitely want to go again. Great quality casual food. Had the burger with cheese, bacon and onion straws. Delicious! My husband has the Texas chili and loved it as well. Really good ingredients - you could tell the food was made fresh on site. Friendly service too. Go enjoy.

Loved the Ahi Tuna Burger with its soy saucy glazed edges. And who doesn't like a Fried Pickle Spear! The tempura onion rings were different by themselves but the Sriracha mayo to dip them in was a good touch. Everyone else in my party also really enjoyed their burgers. I tried a bite of the Lamb Burger and was not disappointed. Juicy is just the first bite. All consequent bites are flavorful and inevitably delicious moments of textures between crunchy onions and fresh lettuce. I will say the server forgot to give us our silverware, but he was attentive to our drinks and friendly. All things said, I cannot wait to eat here again.

Great burgers as always, and great service, too. My date and I ordered the Blue Cheese burger and the sweet potato fries with garlic aioli. As usual, everything was fantastic. If we could rate the patrons - that'd be something. I couldn't believe how rude and entitled people have become in the last 20 months. COVID has been unpleasant for everyone but please don't take it out in the employees - it's not their fault. (Stepping off soap box...)

A little disappointed in their customer service. Arrived at 820 on Saturday evening and was told upon entry that they were closed even though signage stated closing was at 10pm Will think again before going back

The food was amazing! I had a really good time. The host was very friendly and addressed us and gave us amazing recommendations for food. Service is spectacular

All five of us really enjoyed our burgers, particularly the Lamb Burger was outstanding with a side of delicious sweet potato fries. My son pronounced the Poached Lobster Mac & Cheese Gratin too bland ...but I noticed that it disappeared all right. My wife was disappointed that the burgers weren't square after all but enjoyed hers and pronounced the fried dill pickle spear especially good. Service was courteous, attentive, and helpful. And be sure to order a Lamb Burger!

This place is usually pretty good. I came with my kids on a Saturday for lunch and it wasn't packed, but there were steady customers. The service was very slow. I ordered a Caesar salad and had to ask for it because everyone else had already gotten their food, but they did not bring mine. It kind of looks like they threw some lettuce and Parmesan cheese on a plate. No croutons or anything extra . There are many food choices here so keep that in mind.

My friends and I came here about a month ago and 30 minutes before closing time, and the staff was visibly annoyed when we arrived. We ordered as soon as we could and got our food 10 minutes before closing time. We started eating and the food was really good! We were super hungry so ate as fast as we could as well. My friend had asked for a drink while we started eating and the waiter came back and slammed the drink on the table. We already felt bad for coming late, and so we tried to scarf our food down as they were winding down for the day. As we were finishing up eating and in the process of paying, they started playing songs like "Closing Time", which we laughed it off because we understood they didn't want us to be there. But then, the music got more and more aggressive with "Hit the Road Jack" and some heavy metal rock song saying to get out. It was extremely unprofessional, and if the staff didn't want our service, they could've kindly let us know so we could've gone somewhere else. Moral of the story: Don't come here on a Saturday evening

Even though this is a Burger place I decided to try there fish and chips.. Sounds crazy but they have the best fish and chips I've ever had at a restaurant, that goes for my travels in the states coast to coast the fish litterly melts in your mouth and the potato fries ( chips ) we're awesome to.

We have been to square burger a few times. The grilled cheese is good, as is the tomato soup. I think the burgers are too big, they are hard to eat. The fries are tiny, it's like the small ones at the bottom of the pack at McDonald's. The service is fine but we ordered the mini ice cream sandwiches and they were completely disappointed. I asked for 3 chocolate chip and they said well is snickerdoodle ok? I said ok. But then they brought peanut butter as one and we hate peanut butter. Of course they did this after we paid so we had no choice. Probably won't be back. They should have refunded us for the dessert since we didn't even get whah we ordered. The cookies were super hard. We are dessert people so this was such a bummer.

Our go to burger place! Nice thick burgers cooked to perfection. The Smokey Jack Burger is my favorite. My husband sticks with the Square Burger with lettuce and tomato (he skips the onion and asks for swiss cheese). He also always orders onion rings which he inhales! We love to sit outside so we can bring our dog. They treat her like a princess: a dish with ice water arrives immediately and we always order her a small beef patty. We have experienced nothing short of excellent service.

Lamb burger, fries and a light summer beer.. perfect meal. Burger on the pita bread was great. Must try very delicious and different. Great selection of beer on tap. Very friendly staff. Support local!

Good Food fun environment... fun time. Priced reasonably with ok service ... fun selection of burgers

On a mundane Sunday looking for a place to grab a bite to eat with some friends we end up at the Square Burger. Although the place was not busy there was a good vibe. Ample staff, quickly tended to and told to sit wherever we liked. In no time waitress comes with menus and a drink menu. Lots of beer options, nice array of local delights. Tried a Mexican chocolate stout to kick off the night and my girlfriend went with the blood orange weissbier. Both very good. On to the main event, the food. Looked over the menu which had a nice variety of options, burgers being my staple of course. But to start we went with what they called Crispy Chicken wings. We asked how crispy is crispy... long story short we asked for a second fry and they did not disappoint. Although the wing sauce reduces the crunchiness, next time order the wing sauce on the side. Next stop, main course. I ordered the lamb burger served on a pita with tzatziki sauce. Onion rings and spicy ketchup were a nice addition. The girlfriend has fish and chips which on the one hand was good cause it appeared to be freshly made. Don't you just hate it when it is a pre-processed big fish stick?? Side of fries (uniquely cut) and some tartar sauce to bat. Our friends had a salmon and tuna burger which looked very good as well. All in all a place I would recommend as the food and drinks were good. But there are still so many other places in McKinney and surrounding areas we need to try.
