Image your business has a great sales opportunity during the weekend. You just need to edit your site slightly to capture it. Well the site's ability to be edited is down for the 4th time. You call the support number and it strings you along for a bit only to say that they are closed until Monday like a small town credit union's poorly thought out weekend automated phone support message. It's truly unreal that they do not have weekend support for businesses that accept square. I have had this happen several times now. The price edit function doesn't pass through to the actual website despite showing as changed in the item edit area. I NEED the ability to edit prices for my business during the weekends as my demand can be extremely variable and I have permanent physical signs directing customers to my website. When this functionality breaks (which seems to happen way more than it should) there is no way to resolve it until the next business day. Total joke. If you are a new business looking around, please reconsider using Square's services. I wish I had used another and might end up switching.

Had been using square for years to process transactions. After sending an invoice and being paid by a happy customer the send an email saying my account is deactivated and they can not provide a reason. They are holding my funds fo 90 days like everyone else. I am sure they have these funds sitting there gaining interest.

Worst experience I have ever had with ANY company. Account Rep was not responsive and did not follow through on promises. Kept making excuses. Wrong fee being charged. Customer Service/Customer Success has been called multiple times over the past month and not 1 person has returned my call. Wrong labels sent. Whole process just kept getting worse and worse. Provided a case number and then when no one called me, called back and was told that case number didn't exist. Run as far as you can from this company. Literally any other company has to be better. I'd be embarrassed to work for this company.

I've used Square for almost 10 years. I had a client's bank fraudulently process a chargeback. I won the reversal and had evidence from the client and bank and they implemented a 15% reserve on all of my sales. Half of which are for design time that I've already completed (time billing instead of a product) This also came right after I finished off paying a square loan. They are holding my money for 90 days from the time of each transaction and taking away my margins and my ability to do business. Even if I close my account, they will not release my money. This is a SCAM!

I signed up with Square to process payments for my landscaping business. After completing a job on May 31, 2025, a client paid me $3,840 through Square. Shortly after, my account was suddenly suspended for verification. I provided every document they asked for, but instead of resolving the issue, Square closed my account and put my funds on a 90-day hold. When the payout date of August 29, 2025 approached, they claimed there was a “recent chargeback” and pushed the release back another 30 days. This is completely false—there have been zero chargebacks, zero disputes, and no customer complaints. I even provided a signed contract proving the work was completed. Meanwhile, I was still required to pay for a subscription I could no longer use. Square has held onto my money with no valid explanation and made it extremely difficult to run my business. If you are a small business owner, I strongly caution you before trusting Square with your payments.

Title: Unfair Account Deactivation & Funds Withheld Review: I am the owner of Elite Pressure Pros, a small business in Missouri. I opened a Square account on August 13, 2025 to process legitimate customer payments. Just two days later, on August 15, 2025, Square deactivated my account without prior warning and withheld $501.65 in business funds, stating they will not release them until November 13, 2025. Square has provided no specific written reason for this action, despite repeated requests. This withholding has caused direct harm to my business, preventing me from paying my phone bill and purchasing essential supplies to complete scheduled jobs. Due to the severity of this situation, I have filed formal complaints with the Missouri Attorney General, Better Business Bureau, Federal Trade Commission, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. I would strongly caution other small businesses to carefully consider these risks before using Square’s services.

I run a small business and have had serious issues with Square holding my business funds without a clear explanation. I provided all required documents (ID, business license, and linked business bank account), but my account has remained deactivated, leaving me unable to access money from my sales. Communication and resolution have been extremely difficult. This has caused significant disruption to my business cash flow. Be cautious when relying on Square for essential business transactions

Held over five figures of our funds with little to no feedback for six weeks. We finally had to get our customer to reverse an ACH transaction. Oh, and good luck getting a representative on the phone that has a firm grip on the English language. We will be closing our account soon. This is a dumpster fire of a company. If I could leave zero stars I would.
