"Bangsar Village is home to numerous buzzy restaurants and shops. In this vibrant district, Sri Nirwana Maju attracts diners for its distinctive flavours – a selection of regional dishes for anyone seeking the authentic taste of India. Go for one of the set menus with rice and vegetable curry on banana leaves, which you can top up with your favourite sides (fish, chicken or lamb). The chicken biriyani boasts moist tender meat and balanced flavours." - Michelin Inspector

A Solo Traveller's Guide to Kuala Lumpur

"Sri Nirwana Maju is a beloved South Indian restaurant known for its traditional banana leaf meals, offering a variety of curries, chutneys, and pickles. The chicken biryani is also highly recommended." - Alvin Lim

Highly disappointing and not worth the Michelin mention. Service was below expectations – you’re required to order at the entrance before even being allowed in, which is unusual and unwelcoming. The food lacked authenticity. The so-called banana leaf meal didn't come close to traditional Indian flavors. Chicken varuval tasted more like mala chicken, which was confusing and off-putting. The portion of fried squid rings was ridiculously small for the price — totally not worth it. The overall experience didn’t live up to the hype at all. Prices are on the higher side, most likely because of the Bangsar location, but quality and taste don’t match the cost. I had high hopes, but this was a disappointing meal. Won’t be returning.

Michelin worthy? For sure 😁 Hands down the best authentic Indian restaurant at KL. Humble and friendly staff. Always a good choice for my informal Friday lunch! Tips: Their curry fish and fried pakora is the best.

A South Indian Banana Leaf restaurant being awarded Michelin star rating for consecutive TWO years is something absolutely commendable & a PROUD moment for Indian cuisine too! There are millions of such full meal restaurants in South India, BUT until date NOT a single one has been able to achieve this feat! WoW! Most importantly, the restaurant is not located within the Little India area of KL, but in a laid back area of Bangsar. The majority of clientele are Chinese, Malay, Westerners and SOME Indians! The food spice levels and taste have been toned down quite a bit, to cater to the palate of the other Nationalities. A VERY SMART move indeed, whereby the South Indian cuisine gets maximum exposure amongst the International community. Felt truly PROUD to have a simple, humble but sumptuous full meal on a banana leaf at this MICHELIN star restaurant! 🎉🎉🎉👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

The food was so good, no wonder theres always crowd! But service was quick so eventhough the queue was long we were able to get table. The price is on a higher side, but honestly this is one of the best banana leaf rice ive ever had. The curry and fried fish - the best!

We were recommended this place randomly and was so glad to have come. One of the best banana leaf rice we've ever had. Everything feels fresh and not oily. We had 2 x veggie banana leaf, 1 x tahu sambar and 1 x fish fry and 2 x teh tarik. Delicious. The only 'negative' feedback is that it felt weird giving our order before sitting down and seeing a menu and the teh tariff wasn't the best. But the food was astounding. They also had baby chairs which helped. Staff was also kind when baby made a mess.

Michelin mentioned and it did not have the Coriander Chicken that was recommended. But the Pepper Chicken was spicy and tasty. So was the Chicken Biryani which was proper. We enjoyed the sides that came with the meal. Gets a bit hot with no AC.

Quite disappointed for first visit after a few years. Rice was mushy/too wet. And be warned the fried sotong is not real sotong. It's some kind of fish/sotong paste with texture and taste like fish cake.

Used to like it, since have not been here for a while, thought of bringing my friends from overseas to try, the overall standard seems to drop significantly, the mutton was chewy, the papadom was soggy, to be honest, even the chain restaurants offer better food quality than this!
