Ssam Korean Bistro

I went here with a group of friends and would definitely come back. The food was really good and the service was attentive. I would recommend getting the rice cake with cheese and the wings. They were both cooked incredibly well and I will probably go back just for those two items. We had no trouble booking a table for 5 people same day which was good, but when we walked in the place was pretty empty. Some people were working on laptops at their table which made for a different vibe than I was expecting.

Me & my friend enjoyed our main meals! The bibimbap and the jajangmyeon was soo good def recc to try. For appetizer, we had the bulgogi nachos. I know the menu stated what the nachos came with but it was just really disappointing since everything else was really good and the nachos turned solid and inedible. There was only two workers and it looked really understaffed since we were standing by the door for 5-10 mins and no one was able to attend to us/serve. We couldn't even get their attention to get the bill but thats a staff issue.

We got boneless fried chicken(that’s a small in the photo!!), kimchi fries, and salmon bomb noodles. Everything was delicious, service was so attentive, food came out quick, and ambiance was nice. Expect a more relaxed and homey environment. This place seems like owner ran(they were so lovely), and we love supporting businesses like this in the neighborhood.

Update: I’ve been here several times - this is my go-to Korean restaurant near downtown Brooklyn. The bulgogi, spicy pork, and bibimbap dishes are fantastic. The ssam dishes come on a sizzling hot plate, while the bibimbap comes in a dolsot (hot stone pot) so you are able to get that crispy rice. The galbi is bone-in, so it’s a bit hard to mix into the bibimbap. The naengmyeon is not as thick and chewy as I am accustomed to at other places but that might just be personal preference. The included bonchon (side dishes) are limited to a small dish of kimchi, pickled radish, and kimchi radish. I was less impressed with the kimchi jiggae which had a strong taste of ground black pepper, and the tteokbokki was okay. Service is always excellent and friendly. We always just walk in without reservations and there’s never a wait. The place is huge and is cozy inside.

Perfectly balanced dumpling ramen + the soy garlic wings + house sake = perfection!!! My new fav spot.

It’s always great when you find another spot that you can add to the food mix. We hadn’t checked out Ssam yet and decided to do a valentines lunch date. If you have a party of 2-6 you can score a special little enclosed booth for privacy and coziness. They even have a special lunch menu which was a pleasant surprise. We started off with an appetizer of French fries (good amount - had to save some for leftover). My wife got the japchae and I opted for beef bulgogi. Since it was V day, we opted to try some cocktails too - a soju margarita and a mule. Service was spot on and efficient. Our cocktails were good if not memorable. The fries had a pleasant flavor of sesame and fresh. My wife enjoyed her japchae and felt it was robust for a lunch item. I thoroughly enjoyed the bulgolgi with a perfect egg on top but felt it was lacking vegetables. Hot sauce helped kick it up and also a solid portion for a lunch item. Overall we had a great time and will be back!

This is my first bout at a Korean restaurant and this place easily exceeded my expectations by a long shot. I visited on an early Friday afternoon and there was not a ton of people inside, much how I like it since that means immediate seating and less noise overall. The menu, for some reason is on these letter sized papers attached to a clipboard. I personally don't mind this at all, but others who are nitpicky may see this and immediately think poorly of the restaurant's quality, but I can assure you, the quality is top notch. Prices are pretty reasonable for most items on the menu and serving sizes are fairly big. I ended up ordering the Oh-Sam (the only thing on the menu with a fairly high price) and the shrimp fried rice. The Oh-Sam, which is fried calamari and pork belly with vegetables, arrived steaming hot on one of those cast iron-like plates where the food continues to sizzle and cook in front of you. It's mostly for show, but the only drawback is the food is HOT, and stays too hot for a while. The fried rice was served the same way. Both were absolutely delicious and outstanding. We complimented the food with a bottle of Sake, which was also amazing. Overall I can easily recommend this place. It's so delicious and so fairly priced.

With a rustic and cozy interior, the food here is incredible. Perfectly seasoned and cooked bites -- it's a great date spot or place to eat out with friends!

So, my only reference for Korean food are typical BBQ resto's that i go to with my parents and sister. The Menu seemed intimidating (price wise) for the regular "A la Carte" items but fortunately for me - they had a Lunch Menu! Bulgogi: garnished with a fried egg, with salad and rice, all contained within a single bowl. NGL, generous without being heavy. And then the Wings, tossed in a sauce that i can only describe as Korean Style: Spicy, Sweet. Accommodating to folks whom are familiar with Korean food (and those whom are not, personally speaking) I can only describe this spot as a local joint with a menu that encourages sharing and, i typically dine out alone... But all things aside, i cannot help but to come back and navigate their menu further. Seriously!

We went to this restaurant randomly last week after searching for a place to have lunch on court st and don't regret coming here. It was a quiet and chill little spot (not noisy at all) that had a lot of hand drawn art above the seats. Everything appearance wise was wooden. It was pleasant to look at venue. We ordered a spicy chicken over rice and salmon avocado over rice and veggies and they tasted really good. The spicy chicken wasn't overwhelmingly hot and wasn't underwhelming as well. The salmon was cooked really well too. The mojito I had tasted good too (however wasn't as strong as other places I've been too). I would definitely try the food again. The service by all the staff was good too. They were all really nice and attentive. We accidentally broke a glass trying to get our baby back in the holder and the staff were actually really understanding and didn't get upset with us. Would definitely recommend trying giving this spot a try if you're walking around hungry.

I pass by SSAM all the time and finally came to check it out for lunch. There aren't many Korean spots in this area, so this is a nice treat. With that said, also a bit disappointing that they don't have all the complimentary banchans that you find at most Korean spots. Nonetheless, this seems like a fun spot to drink with a group after work. Since I came during lunch, it was pretty empty. But we also lucked out on some lunch special items. I ordered the Soft Tofu Soup with Beef ($15.95) while the boyfriend got the Fried Rice with Spicy Pork ($15.95). We also got the 3 orders of Spicy Korean Wings ($3) to share and two glasses of Kirin ($6). The wings were solid --a bit small but good flavor. I liked how the fried rice came on a sizzling hot plate, which was pretty delicious with the crispy rice. My tofu soup was pretty big and came with rice and some kimchi. It's not the best I ever had, but it satisfies me when I'm craving this. Glad to have some tofu soup and traditional Korean eats in the neighborhood though.

Having lived in the area for a few years, there's pretty limited options for authentic Korean food so I'm really happy to have discovered this spot. I was craving a piping bowl of hot tofu stew on a cold day and came here to satisfy my cravings, I think the prices are on par for what you get and they have lunch specials with a wide selection of chicken wings, bibimbap and other dishes. It was pretty empty when I came during a weekday and service was quick. Highly recommend checking out if you are in the downtown Brooklyn area and craving Korean food with variety.

I was looking for something new, and this place caught my eye. The place inside looks like a bar, with many rustic tables. The staff is friendly and accommodating. I chose spicy beef soup, and my husband has bulgogi. We had a complimentary sampler of Kim Chi, which was delicious. My soup was so flavorful! The portion was significant; I took half home. It comes with desperate white rice. The bulgogi was also tasty, and the crispy rice at the bottom was a cherry on top. I also got yuzu tea, which was terrific. I need it at home 24/7

Hate to do it but Ssam has fallen off drastically. They used to be a reasonable restaurant (decent food at decent prices) but we just ordered food and none of it came satisfactory. The Galbi Tang was bland and the radish was not cooked through. The Pajeon portion was a joke for $12. The Ddukbokki was ok at best. Sauce was a bit sweet. The Bulgogi Kimbap was obnoxiously wrapped with too much rice that exploded beyond the seaweed wrapping. I appreciate the one free rice they gave me but probably will not be going back sadly.

The food was average tbh. The service was great, super friendly. I really enjoy Korean food and have dined at several different Korean restaurants. The food was definitley not bad but like I mentioned, it was totally average. The portions were very big but I did think it was a little over priced compared to quality.

Came here on a weekend with no reservations and was seated promptly for a party of 4. Ordered the salmon dolsot with avocado and it was delicious! Would recommend ordering a hot stone bibimbap dish as that's their speciality. The price was $19 for a small bowl, kinda pricey and not shareable since I finished it all. This spot is perfect for a group of friends since there's plenty of seating and great appetizers to share such as the kimchi fries. Our server was helpful and attentive, would come here again. Also the bathrooms are clean! Ambiance - 4/5 Food - 4/5 Drinks - 4/5 Service - 5/5

So disappointing! The pajun/pancake had uncooked flour pockets. The galbi was okay, a bit undercooked. Definitely overpriced for what we got (only 7 pieces). No side dishes / banchan. Lastly the lettuce for the Ssam lettuce wraps had dirt all over it! Will not be returning.

Modern Korean is how I'd describe this place. It has everything you are looking for in a Korean spot but feels like an upgrade to the ones you'd find in Ktown. The fried chicken was one of my favorites I've ever had. My friend wasn't as crazy about the chicken as I was, because it was as crunchy as typical kfc is. The chicken was light and crispy and I like my chicken that way. The veggie dumpling and seafood pancakes were also amazing. The mackerel was just ok for us. Didn't have a lot of flavor but definitely light and lean protein.

I ordered the samgyetang, it had no flavor, the chicken was already falling apart. There weren't even scallions in it which should be in every samgyetang. The chicken was dry to the bone even though it had been sitting in liquid. The tteokbokki was hard instead of chewy and the sliced vegetables in it tasted bitter. Such a disappointing meal.

so hard to find a korean place in brooklyn!!! decided to give ssam a try, most of the reviews were hopeful. we are dining with a newborn so we aim to visit places that can accomodate stroller space. saam has more than enough space!! major plus for us the internet was down for them so it was a cash only night. i wish they wouldve said something when i called them beforehand so i can prepare the cash but instead we had to run across the street to get cash from atm. we ordered the wings for appetizer, 6pc soy garlic and 6pc spicy. oddly the soy garlic didnt taste like soy garlic and the spicy just tasted like wings dipped in gochujang lol for wings you might be better off going next door to mad for chicken for entree we got the spicy tofu soup and galbi tang. galbi tang on the bland side and spicy tofu soup didnt really have much flavor and wasnt really spicy the banchans were kimchi. pickled radish and radish kimchi. i think overall it seems like this place isnt korean owned if you know what i mean. the flavors are almost quite there but also not there at all

Came here with my friend one night after we spent a long time trying to find a korean restaurant in Brooklyn. Needless to say I did not regret it, just wished I took a picture before I started digging in! The pajeon was pretty good. It has a crumbly texture, not really soft like what you'd find normally. Tastes a little more like chives than a standard scallion pancake. Bibimbap was also delicious, bottom was little bit burnt but the crispy parts that were salvageable were amazing. Tteokbokki needs a little bit of work, a little bit too sweet but I guess this is on-par for korean food. The only issue was that the tteok was hard and needs little bit more cook-time on it. However, your staff -- Amazing. The lady who took our order, who I assume is the owner, was extremely nice. Upon us sitting down she asked if this was our first time here to which we said yes and made sure that we were happy. I think I would give this place a 5/5 stars for service but probably a 3.5/5 for food. Definitely would come back here just because of service.

Let's start with glows, the service is excellent and they have good cocktails and a decent happy hour. I'm actually pissed I didn't stay at Mad for Chicken, but I wanted to support local businesses and try something new-- I am a bit disappointed that I did. The chicken was decent but you could taste the oil which means it was probably old, the kimchi fries hd a peculiar taste and wasn't very good. Honestly, if SSAM doesn't get a new chef they will lose their business to the new Korean chicken place next door. The food is mediocre and basic, this has been by far my worst experience at a Korean restaurant. Maybe if you have a few cocktails it will improve the taste? The service is a 4 and food is a 2, so I gave them 2 stars.

Used to be solid but has recently gone downhill. Galbitang meat was tough and the radish was undercooked. Soondubu was surprisingly bland as well. Maybe a fluke but if management is reading this, it's not too late to step it up. Raise prices if you need to, but food quality needs to improve. Ssäm is a great addition to the neighborhood and would hate to see them go.

I walked into this place a little while back as it was the closest Korean place nearby. The place inside was quiet. The food overall was fine but there were some issues that really bothered me. First off, I would usually talk about the banchan or Korean side dishes but there weren't any which is absurd for a Korean spot. I haven't really heard of any Korean place that doesn't serve them. Even the Korean-Chinese spots that concentrate on jajangmyeon or black bean noodles or similar dishes at least give some kimchi and pickled radish but nope nothing here. The waiter (more on their lack of service later) brought over some water and I ordered two dishes with nothing being said and I was given a container of mostly empty gochujang presumably to add to my bibimbap later. My first dish was yangnyeom chicken/ or chicken wings / in a spicy sweet gochujang sauce which came out pretty quickly. There was a good amount of pretty large wings and the sauce had a nice kick with some sweetness also. I would say other places are more crispy but overall they were good wings. My only issue was that since they were on the bone, the only feasible way to pick them up was to use my napkin as they didn't provide finger gloves which led to a bit of an issue afterwards where the only napkin I had was quite dirty from the sticky sweet sauce. The waiter of course did not notice at all even though I put it on the table and I only had that dirty napkin for quite a while until a busboy noticed and finally gave me a new one. Maybe the busboy should be the server. The main dish was a bibimbap/ or rather specifically dolsot bibimbap/ as it was on a hot stone bowl. I personally got mine with jeyuk bokkeum/spicy stir fried pork/. This was just borderline alright though if I think about it more it was pretty bad. The pork was tender and good though the vegetables and rice were both bland as there was a distinct lack of sesame oil and I had to add a good amount of the gochujang for flavor. The egg was a bit overcooked which is surprising as the bowl itself was not hot enough to crisp up the rice (or perhaps it was the lack of sesame oil.) One of the points of this dish is that the rice on the bottom starts to crisp up and it adds both a fun texture and flavor. I mixed everything together as I should have and I still found it bland which is rather poor for a bibimbap especially for the price I paid even for the area. I paid and left without much of a word. I'd consider this place to be the definition of "could've been better." If I just ordered the chicken wings, I'd probably give it a 3 as I'd round up a 2.8 but there was so much wrong outside of that. The lack of side dishes just felt wrong and it felt even worse as I spent around $30 there. This is not to mention the lackluster service outside of this from the napkin to otherwise. I don't plan on going back. Low 2 mostly thanks to the wings (it'd be a clear 1 otherwise.)

I truly love it here. Service is always great and all that I've had on the menu so far is delicious (squid ssam, dolsot and Japchae). It's a great large space with tons of different types of seating for larger groups or couples. I'm even intending to have my 30th bday here. Already can't wait to go back!

Nice looking with ample space but the food is subpar This place should be embarrassed to call themselves Korean. I have never gone to a a Korean restaurant where side dishes were not served in copious amounts. I am so glad that I did not get any food for myself but opted to share. We got the Wings which had zero flavor. It would have been better if we had gotten them at MFC. The Kimchi Fried Rice was okay but could be better. The Kimchi Fries were lacking on the Kimchi but were nice and crisp. The Pork Ramen looked like someone opened up a pack of instant Noodles and tossed them into some broth, added an egg and some slices of Pork. It was flavorless and served in a metal bowl that looked like a wash basin. Others in my group ordered other dishes that were not impressive. I think most annoying to some (not me) was the request by the hostess or owner to please leave the tip as cash. This really irritated folks most of whom do not carry cash with them. Overall, this was a one and done as we collectively agreed that it was not a place we would visit again.

I rarely ever finish all of my food when I go out to eat but, the food here was so good I couldn't stop eating. The soft tofu soup was delicious and I will definitely be coming back for more. Fried rice was also great. We also had the chicken wings and they were so good with the sweet sauce. Service and ambiance was 10/10.

Friendly service but food is meh. Ordered Spicy Chicken Wings. They were room temperature and not spicy. Seafood Pancake was also room temperature, soggy and not great tasting. Galbi Bibimbop was good though. Finally a hot dish that was supposed to be hot. Overall, restaurant felt dim and dirty. Not really worth it.

I was exploring downtown Brooklyn and Cobble Hill area when the mood for korean food suddenly hit me. Luckily for me, SSAM was only a short walk from where I was. I was given a nice big jar of water which tasted very refreshing after a walk in the heat. I went with the Galbi Dolsot and felt an initial reluctance since I was worried the portion size would be too small since it was only $17. Boy was I wrong, the dish came with a large side of kimchi and a bottle of gochujang all for myself. The galbi tasted amazing, not too fatty and full of flavor. The veggies tasted refreshing, and the egg was perfectly runny. The portion was also huge for the price, I came into the restaurant very hungry and left satisfied. The food was very well balanced and I would recommend it to anyone! Looking forward to coming back.

ordered delivery from here and the content quality was very poor.. the shrimp dumplings were burnt and mostly everything in the soup was undercooked. i got the kimchi jjigae and theres not a single piece of kimchi??? they use cabbage instead and barely cook it making it raw too. the rice cakes in the stew were hard and undercooked too. big sad...

This place is exactly as it presents itself. Unpretentious, convenient, efficient. Great for more of a hangout situation rather than a food experience. We got a couple dishes including the bulgogi which were all exactly as expected from a late night korean food joint. Super convenient since it's like a five min walk from our place and also has soju and mixed drinks available. Would come back out of convenience. Good portions and good service.

We stopped in on a bitter cold night because it looked warm, cozy, and like a good vibe inside. I'm torn between a 3 and 4, but I just can't quite justify 4 stars, as much as I hate to admit it. I would go again just to see if (hope) the negatives in our first experience were a fluke. I'll begin with the good: We started with the veggie dumplings and the kimchi fries (why not). The dumplings were a different style than what I've had before, but they were good. The fries were fried very nicely. Like really good. The kimchi and mozzarella they were topped with worked surprisingly well together, and it was just a cool dish. I got the house sake, warm, which helped shake the lingering winter chill from our earlier stroll. My partner had some type of NA drink that was very tasty. The neutral: I had the tofu and kale dolsot. I mixed it around, and a few bites were really good, but most neeeeded more flavor. It was just missing something. Salt, acid, spice, all of the above, I don't know, but it was just a little lackluster. It had potential. The stone bowl it was in was piping hot, and I could hear the contents sizzling in it for quite a while. That was fun. The rice still didn't really crisp up though. Overall, the dish was alright, and with the good starters and drinks, this might have resulted in a star more. But the meal didn't stop there. The biggest room for improvement: My partner got the kimchi tofu veggie ramen. The noodles were in tiny little pieces. I'm talking a quarter inch to an inch long. A rare few were 2-3 inches long, but not any longer. We probably should have asked our waiter about it. We tried to look up if this is some style we're just unaware of, and we couldn't find anything to suggest this might have been intentional. Aside from the noodles being in tiny pieces, they were very overcooked. It was so sad. The broth was good, and the portion was very generous, so there's that. But the noodles. What happened? We usually finish all our food or take it home, but we just couldn't bring ourselves to do either with the main dishes. We left a decent amount behind. I'm sad about that. I love food. I don't like wasting food. I eat up even if it's not my favorite. So there it is. Maybe Ssam is trying to offer too broad a range of dishes? I really appreciated that they had a few vegetarian dishes, but maybe they don't pay as much attention to them? Again, I'd go back to confirm this experience, because the space was cool, there were neat menu items, and the service was friendly. But my first visit was a miss.

So glad I found this place! Been wanting to try and it didn't disappoint. We came for lunch and I ordered the pork belly ramen and fried chicken. Great portion size and super tasty. The fried chicken was surprisingly good. My friend got a bibimbap also delicious. Only wish I had discovered this place sooner because it will be a regular stop for me from now on. The restaurant is also has beautiful decor and ambience and service was attentive and great. Looking forward to trying the other things on the menu yay.

In a sea of sushi and Thai, Ssam is a welcome Korean change of pace. And although it may not be K-Town, they offer good food at a good price. They've got your Korean favorites including bibimbap, galbi, japchae, pajun, budae jiggae...or maybe those are my Korean favorites...either way, they are good. They've got a few bones they are throwing to the white people, like avocado and kale salad, bulgogi nachos, sliders, truffle fries (very solid), and ramen (which I'll never order because I believe in getting ramen and sushi at ramen and sushi places). The lunch special in particular is a winner. It'll run you about $12, but you can get bibimbap (fairly loaded with meat), or alternatively a half dozen wings, fries, a salad, and some eggs. Along with some kimchi and pickled cucumbers, this is a damn good meal. Parent Pro-Tip: Bibimbap is an excellent choice when you have a kid, as the stone bowl ensures it never gets cold as you deal with their every need.

Mid. People do high reviews for free soda. Food quality is alright though for the price you would expect larger quantity size. Ordered shrimp and pork belly but got squid instead, resulting dish was too salty. Couldn't finish and didn't want for leftovers. Salmon avocado Bibimbap was great! Banchan side dishes were decent. Decent overall.

I was craving stew... because believe it or not, while it's Spring in NYC, feels like winter never left. I yelped for a recommendation and SSAM popped up. A brisk 15 min walk from jury duty... Korean eats, here I come. I love the decor, spacious, bench seatings, table seatings - good options for groups of 2, 3, 4 +! Service was nice, although it was lunch hour, there were only a few groups dining. They give you a small banchan plate of kimchi and kimchi radish - both were OK. Bathrooms in the back near the kitchen. Food wise though, is where they lost me. I ordered a beef fried dumplings, which was ok, not outstanding and kind of bland. Figure the dipping sauce will provide much assistance but it did not. The sauce needs a vinegar balance. I also got my favorite stew, Yuk Gae Jang, a spicy shredded beef stew with japchae noodles. It looked soooo good! But then after tasting the stew... I wasn't sure, maybe I caught a cold? Because I couldn't taste any seasoning. IT TASTED LIKE WATER. Spice Level - NEGATIVE ZERO!!! Would it have been rude to ask them for salt and the red pepper paste?? Needless to say, I did not finish. Overall, I think I'll lump this one: "Quasi Korean Food Made For Gwai Lo". Decent Korean food that's a bit pricey. My friend and I ordered three appetizers since the reviews for this place are pretty mixed. The truffle Parmesan fries were very crispy and overall tasted good. They could've been more generous with the truffle and Parmesan though, since the flavor wasn't that strong compared to other ones I've had. The spicy rice cakes were passable. The rice cakes were a bit too soft for this type of dish, and overly chewy because of that. The sauce tasted different from other ones I've had but it's not bad. The seafood pancake was probably the best out of the three. It was crispy yet soft, and not mushy at all -- the perfect consistency! The seafood inside was also well cooked, and the sauce was great. Overall, everything tasted okay but it's pretty pricey for the quality of the food. The restaurant is pretty cute though and it wasn't busy at all on a Saturday night.

Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Galbi was a bit over cooked but the flavor was good. I wish the Seafood tofu soup was more flavorful, these soups are supposed to be hearty and savory, but this one was a bit plain.

I came here on a Saturday evening at around 6:45 pm hoping to try out another staple Korean spot near our apartment. Upon arrival, I quickly discovered that the restaurant is actually fairly large, there is quite a lot of seating area, however it was pretty empty with only 2-3 other small tables present. We ordered an appetizer of kimchi pancake and also the galbi tang each. The service was surprisingly really slow since there were very few other customers present. The servers were also not coming very frequently to refill waters and it was hard to flag them down when we did see them in the dining area. It took 35+ minutes for the appetizer to arrive and sadly was a little disappointing. The kimchi pancake really lacked flavor--all I could taste was the oil. And my galbi tang was so incredibly salty with not much other flavor. The galbi itself was also pretty tough. I also had asked the waiter if the galbi tang came with vegetables, to which he said, yes it comes with vegetables and to my disappointment, only came with 4 pieces of radish. All in all, the service, food quality and price were really disappointing and unfortunately this won't be a place worth revisiting.

I think I have just found myself a gem! This is our second time here and it's never crowded. That baffles me because the food here is SOOO good. I've seen this place whenever I look for asian food for takeout but when I chanced upon this in person, I can't believe I don't order from here enough! Their food is SOOO good and they even let us dine with my dog. Always appreciate it when we can dine out with the pupper. In any case, we ordered the bulgogi nachos, seafood pancake and japchae. I don't have to go to Ktown in Manhattan to be able to enjoy Korean food! This is our go-to place whenever we go to Smith street. And that says a lot since Smith st is the mecca of cuisine in this neighborhood.

I'd consider this place Korean fusion and not traditional at all. Overall 3.5/5 Ambiance (5/5) Cute space with cozy tables on the sides and long tables in the center. Unfortunately we had to share one of the long tables with two other couples.. one was too loving (the lady was all over her fiance) and the other couple had a guy who's vocab was limited to using the f-bomb every other word. Else it's a very nice space. Service (2.5/5) The servers are rather slow.. they move quickly but don't come around often enough. I wonder if this is due to not having enough servers or if they just don't appear often. We were never given the banchan but did receive it after asking. The two seated on either of side of us never received theirs either, but a server did give some to those seated behind us. We had to flag down the servers for sauce for the bibimbap... for more water.. for a new order of soju.. it was a LOT of flagging down! Overall, not great service! Food (3.5/5) Truffle fries [3/5] Very light truffle taste -- so light I sometimes wondered if I ordered overpriced fries... they could use more truffle and more Parmesan. They were pleasantly crispy, however they had a spicy mayo that wasn't very good. I wish it came with garlic aioli instead. Galbi Dolsot Bibimbap [4/5] This would have gotten a higher review if it wasn't so overly hot that several parts of the rice were burned black!! The meat was very tender, but the dish is a bit bland until you add sauce. With the sauce, the meal is good. The rice is nicely crispy (except the burnt bits). The bowl was so hot it also overcooked the egg. Pork Belly Ramen [4/5] This is not a traditional ramen by any means. The broth is super creamy and tastes a bit like cream of mushroom. The pork belly is pretty tender but also tastes like it was dusted with cinnamon or cardamom... very strange... and not very Korean. This dish also had some cabbage. This was not at all spicy, but unique. Definitely not a Japanese or Korean style ramen. Watermelon soju [3/5] Very sweet and tasty but the glass came with 3/4 ice!!! I've never been served so much ice in soju my whole life!! I feel a bit ripped off on this!

Happy Hour is gone and that was super sad. That was the best part about coming here. Went recently to get a drink and some apps with a friend. Looks like it was a completely different staff then the other times I had gone. Service was slow but fine. Boneless wings are great, the sauces they make in house are good. The kimchi is very good! With no happy hour though will probably not return.

My little sister wanted Korean wings for her birthday so I suggested this place since I've had it bookmarked. There aren't a lot of Korean wing places in Brooklyn so I was excited to try this one. We got to the restaurant around 7pm and there was a few parties. After we placed our order, I notice that other tables have side dishes like kimchi and pickled cucumber. Since everyone in our party wanted the side dishes, I asked the waiter if we can get some. He gave us 2 kimchi and 1 cucumber for a party of 7. Could have at least gave us 2 side dishes on each side of the table. On top of that, never ask if we wanted refills. For appetizers, we order 12 soy garlic wings and 12 spicy wings. The wings were okay, it was nice and crispy. We also order 2 seafood pancake and only 1 came. When we got our entrees, we figured they probably forgot about the second one so we told one of the server. Then he went to check it and eventually that came. My sister and I got seafood soondubu. As I was eating the tofu and drinking the soup, I was wondering when will I finally get some seafood. I realized, there was none. I asked my sister if she had any seafood in hers and she said she doesn't either. We told the waitress and I guess she told the manager. He offer either to remake it or take one off the bill, so we just asked for it to be taken off the bill since we didn't want to wait. On top of that, our egg was fully cooked with huge egg yolk. From what I see on yelp, people got like raw egg on top of their soup which I prefer since I like the egg mixed in the soup. The soup was okay, didn't have much flavor either. So the wings came with like two huge ceramic trays and we also had like tiny plates for those wings. The waiters/waitresses never took any of those away. It was in the way for everyone so I moved everything to the edge of the table on my side since there was space. I guess they finally saw it and took it away. Overall, not a good experience with the food or service so probably won't be coming back.

I'm posting a $16 seafood jiamppong ramen...or is it an upgraded nongshim instant noodle? The noodle is bad even in instant noodle standard, it's over cooked. Ive dine in here few times before pandemic and it was bad then, I got staled veggie once and their foods are mediocre the rest of time, not worth the price at all. I wanted to give it a try this time, but still... not comparing to fort Lee k food or K town food, just talking about this neighborhood, you always have better choices...

Found SSAM after getting my daughter's ears pierced. We were craving Korean food. Upon entering the ambience was very welcoming . The staff are so friendly . The food was amazing . The bibimbaps were on hot stones sizzling . I had the pork belly and my husband had the galbi. Both were so delicious. My daughter had the pork belly ramen. I tasted it and the broth was so smooth and tasty . The noodles great. My daughter prefers these noodles to the ones we make at home. We will be back!

Amazing service! Colleagues and I order from the lunch special and pork Ramon + chicken wings 10/10 for a great price. I will definitely return with friends.

Stay away. I used to love this place pre-pandemic. It had the best Korean food outside of Ktown with authentic budae jjigae, soon dubu, and the best wings. However, not sure if they changed chefs last year but ever since the food we got was terrible. No salt in the soups, no Kimchi in the Kimchi pancakes, flavors that didn't belong on Korean food dishes, tons of msg and extremely poor quality meats. We kept trying to order a few different times and each time it was a disappointment. Stay away from this restaurant and try some amazing food along Smith Street or try Kuun. They're a much better fix for your Korean food cravings.

The spicy korean wings here are amazing! The seafood soondubu was on point. The bibimbap with Bulgogi was delicious as well, even tho they sprinkled some kale in it. The soy garlic wings were meh, a lil too salty for my tastebuds. The tteokbokki & fish cakes were delightful with that sweet & spicy sauce. The kimchi side dishes were fabulous! Overall, I'd give the food 5 stars. The service on the other hand, was awful. There were 7 of us, we ordered mostly wings and some other dishes I named above. One of our friends got her tteokbokki but never got her wings. When we asked about it, he came over and asked what she ordered again. Then went to the kitchen, came back and said, "I didn't forget your order. Itll be right out." About 15 mins later, we ask again, he said 10 more mins. Another 10 mins go by, we asked to have it packed to go. He responds with 2 more mins. As we waited longer, we requested for the check. Took another 5 mins and finally brought the check to us. But still no wings! So, we asked another server and he ran back there and finally, the wings came out along with the server's face screaming, "oops, I forgot your order, again!" Service = 0 stars. Overall, 3 stars MAX since their dishes were tasty, but they need to work on the service or just get new servers since it appears that I'm not the 1st one who's been disappointed with them.

Ordered their beef sundubu (spicy tofu stew) and it straight up tasted like water with a dash of gochujang. The soup itself likely has no anchovy broth or anything besides water. I don't usually write Yelp reviews but this was hands down the worst sundubu I've ever had.

This was my second time here. Not sure why they have such a low rating. The food was all really great. The portions were also very generous. The one complaint I have is that I wish they coursed out the dishes more. The appetizers and entrees all came out at once. The hot plates kept cooking the food, but there was too much to finish all at once, so some of it got over cooked.
