The Best New Restaurant Openings in NYC, June 2023 | Eater NY

"A London-owned coffee roaster with in-house baking that opened a Manhattan branch offering breads for substantial sandwiches (mortadella, bresaola, prosciutto, tuna), red velvet and chocolate chip cookies, and a milk-free coffee program that uses only oat milk." - Emma Orlow

The Summer’s Most Perfect Sandwich - Eater NY

"This newly arrived UK coffee shop has a sidelines in Italian sandwiches, made on focaccia that has a crackly texture and is obviously low on carbs. This helps to showcase the very thin layer of fillings which makes an agreeable combination if you want to dine rather lightly. Half sandwiches are available, as in this delicious example ($9) with mortadella and wonderfully drippy burrata." - Robert Sietsema

Pretty good! I got a cinnamon roll and an iced latte, both were great! All of the pastries were very small and quite expensive but they were beautiful looking and the cinnamon roll was tasty! I didn’t realize until after I ordered that they only served their coffee with oat milk. As an avid whole milk latte drinker, I still really enjoyed the latte here! The staff were friendly and I enjoyed the overall vibe and decor of the cafe!

Super friendly staff here! I love the cashier, she was the best! The food here is very tiny but that’s what makes it brandy 😗

Google
Cute coffee shop in West Village. There are 2 floors so plenty of seats, and airy space! I just wish that they can offer non-disposable cups for dine ins!

Google
Cute vibe but honestly the drip coffee was notttt good. Overly bitter, and I’m not picky about coffee. Lots of space to sit. It kinda looks like a Brandy Melville inside honestly. But maybe that’s cause there’s so much merch around. They could fill my reusable cup though! I appreciated that.

Google
Very cute very Village spot. Only milk is oat milk and they make cinnamon rolls fresh all day.

Google
Cute hip coffee shop with delicious drinks and food. Love the oat milk! But we missed the cinnamon rolls, so come early!

Google
Such a cozy coffee shop featuring oat milk only coffee! This coffee features a large space perfect for doing some work but no laptop rule on weekends. We also love that oat milk is offered without a premium and everything was super reasonably priced. Highly recommend!

Google
Its not my favorite in the city but it was perfect for a quick stop in the neighborhood. They use good quality oat milk and the coffee itself has pretty good taste. Their pastries are small, but the price reflects the size properly. Its the perfect small sweet treat. The environment was relaxing too.

Yelp
Really liking this place, and I think I've found a new regular spot in my neighborhood! Roomy (for NYC), friendly, a style that's chaotic yet somehow comfy. That sums up the city itself, I suppose. Great latte--they only have oat, but that's fine for me--and I appreciated the mini-baguettes, as someone that likes a savory bite with his coffee but not necessarily a full-sized sandwich. I didn't see Wi-Fi, and then I spotted the notice saying no laptops on weekends. For a place like this, on the corner of Bleecker and 7th, I definitely prefer that. We have quite enough dead-silent coffee shops filled with folks staring at their laptops. Operationally, they've got it down: table numbers for food, coffee bar situated a decent distance from the cashier so new and waiting customers don't have to awkwardly pack together, staff attending to empty trays and such, etc. Quite smooth. There are the little touches, too--the branding, cute striped straws, heck, even the plastic cups for the water are a tad nicer than what you usually get. Music at a nice moderate volume, not blasting in your ears (looking at you, Ground Central). I *would* suggest some kind of curtain situation, or something, for the street-facing windows. The natural light is lovely and welcome, but can get overbearing and make the window seats less than pleasant. Might not be the best during the summer. Overall, a fine effort and execution and I look forward to returning!

Yelp
Came in on a Friday afternoon and it was really packed! Lots of people on the computer or with friends. I liked the different types of seating they offered and there were a lot, but just full. I got a classic lemonade and a t-shirt here. The person at the front was really nice and I thought their lemonade was great. It was refreshing for the hot fall weather in NYC. I saw a fruit fly near the cookies so that really made me question the cleanliness of the place and made me not get food here.

Yelp
Happened to see this place and we decided to stop by since it was snowing outside. Ordered the matcha latte with oat milk and it was delicious. This place sells merch and bread. Tried the cinnamon bun only and it was delicious. Glad we stopped by.

Yelp
I'm obsessed with St. George Coffee. The location is absolutely gorgeous with tons of beautiful seating. The upstairs area is a great place to relax. The staff were friendly and fast. The coffee was absolutely amazing. I also got a matcha latte and it was rich and well made. This is a great spot to visit for a pick-me-up!

Yelp
Great location, beautiful layout with the perfect upstairs windows for people watching (if you can snag a seat). I will admit I felt a little "too old to be here" when I realized it was a Brandy Melville Cafe and I'm no longer 18 years old, but the server was very friendly and brought out sandwiches up to our table for us so we didn't have to wait downstairs for them. Cold brew with oat milk was fine nothing special, note they only have one size which I think was 16oz, sandwiches are small but pretty good, chocolate croissant was also good but very small. If you can grab a seat it's a nice place to work or sit and read, but beware they're very strict about no laptops on weekends!

Yelp
I saw this place all over instagram so wanted to give it a try. It was PACKED on the weekend so keep in mind, you may not find seating but there is an upstairs and downstairs area. And the bathrooms are nice! I got an iced coffee and a cookie. Both were pretty good. I'd come back to try the sandwiches as I've heard good things. If you come on a quieter day and found a spot, I think it would be a good work from home spot.

Yelp
If you are a fan of Brandy Melville, you should definitely check out their corner cafe in West Village. It is a good work cafe with wifi, good in-house pastries and restroom. Just be mindful that the two floors are always crowded with people using laptops. It was easier to find a single seat but we did have a hard time finding a table for two. *Croissant, Almond Croissant I have low expectations on most coffee shop pastries, but their croissant quality hits the mark. The croissant had good honeycomb interior, while the almond croissant was generously stuffed with frangipane. Both croissants we got were flaky and golden shiny. All their pastries and sandwiches are literally bite-sized, but pretty decent as quick bites or study snacks. The pricing is acceptable -- $3 for a plain and $4 for an almond croissant. *Latte Only oat milk available -- which is a hit or miss. I drink oat milk coffee on a daily basis so it was completely fine for me, but my friend thought the oat flavor was weird. The espresso aroma of their latte was weak though. *Matcha Latte The matcha richness surprised me. Not sure which matcha powder did they use, but I guess it wasn't ceremonial grade. It left a grassy aftertaste. Overall I like the matcha latte over their coffee.

Yelp
They don't serve dairy milk and the "service dogs only" policy seems to be lackadaisically enforced. Almost every time I go there's a non-service dog inside. The sandwiches, though, are incredible. Starting with the bread, the ingredients are seriously impressive and it seems that they've improved iteratively since I first started coming. It's funny that an Italian panini type shop opened across the street yet the sandwiches here are, in a way, better. You will be pleasantly surprised. I don't drink coffee.

Yelp
Good place to go for a quick brunch or to just sit and enjoy a drink or sandwich! They have a lot of seating (first floor, second floor and outdoors) and the first floor has a lot of light and windows since it's on the corner, and the second floor has nice tables by the windows as well! My friend and I both got a matcha latte ($5 which is less than most in the city) which were good and very matcha-y, not too milky at all! And the sandwiches were good and well sized. We only got the half sizes of our sandwiches which were $9 and pretty big already, so the full sizes ($16) seem like a good value! Also good service and nice workers. I was planning to buy a pastry but when I went none of them looked too enticing but maybe it was just that day that I went because they didn't have some of the ones I've seen in other reviews.

Yelp
This coffee shop is owned by brandy Melville, and it shows that they do not know coffee. This location is a perfect spot in the West Village for foot traffic, and has really nice windows, but that's probably the only nice thing I can say about it. I got the orange juice and it was a small little bottle for over five dollars and it tasted incredibly watery. They only have oat milk, which is good, but also bad, and no decaf coffee. I got a latte and it didn't even taste like coffee. The coffee was so weak. I actually could not finish it despite having spent six dollars on it. They also have sandwiches, which look good, but I can't comment. They also have baked goods, but the goodies are so small in size but still expensive in price. I also really didn't appreciate the layout of the shop. You walk in through the front door and have to walk to the back to order around all the tables and people sitting. And then once you order, you have to weave back through those people to get to the pick up counter. Then if you want to sit in the back or towards most of the chairs, you have to then weave back through and it's not a great place to be if there is a line inside and if it's crowded.

Yelp
They don't allow Laptops on weekends. In this day and age you need a laptop for most projects, school reports, he'll even to read. This also includes tablets (iPad with magic keyboard )

Kristianna I.

Yelp
Food itself is pretty good, matcha is great, not watered down and is unsweetened (sugar packets available) their sandwiches are pretty good, I've had the avocado toast, prosciutto, nutella bites, and chocolate chip cookies Seating can be hard to grab especially during finals season Brandy Melville employees are known to be pretty shady towards non-caucasian presenting people and while I've never had a problem with the Brandy Melville stores themselves, the staff that work at this place seem to give less friendliness and enthusiasm to anyone who isn't white presenting

Yelp
Often it's too crowded to sit down, but when I can get a seat, it's a great spot to people watch in Greenwich Village while I work. Nice little sandwiches and attentive servers. Really well-lit, because of the bay windows. I like this place.

Yelp
I love this place. It's definitely the epitome of Brandy Melville in cafe form. But, it's a great place to get work done and the staff is super nice and accommodating. I've only had their matcha there but it's my favorite in Manhattan. They are well priced and delicious. I highly recommend getting a splash of lavender / vanilla to spruce it up just a bit. Such a cozy spot!

Yelp
Nice, comfy seating areas but their pastries (almond croissant) aren't the best. Coffee is bold and strong but unfortunately they only offer oat milk which gives the coffee a weird taste. Went twice, don't think there will be a third.

Nancy T.

Yelp
Good coffee, but considering it's fall and it's quite chilly, the inside is colder than outside. Ridiculous

Ben T.

Yelp
I had no expectation from this patriotic environment. Poor management and service. This place caters to a specific demographic and it shows.

Yelp
Went here on a saturday afternoon super busy but came alone so managed to find a spot to sit, super loud but what cafe isn't on a saturday. Staff were chill and the matcha was okay/good!

Yelp
Their food is great!! Love the pizza! Always so fresh and quick service! I also love to get a latte with vanilla and strawberry, SO DELICIOUS!!!! If you ever go, be sure to grab a cookie on your way out!

Yelp
This is an awesome, friendly space and a great addition to the neighborhood. Coffees, chai, and pastries are delicious. Sandwiches look great based on what I've seen but i haven't actually tried them yet.

Sam H.

Yelp
The fact that they'll kick you out for having a laptop is the stupidest thing I've ever heard.... It's supposed to be a coffee shop ??? Don't waste your time, coffee is ass too

Lucia C.

Yelp
Thought this could be a cute place to work because I pass by it often and see a lot of people on their laptops. I usually don't go to cafes unless I know I can work on my laptop there. After working for an hour in the very empty upstairs, an employee rudely approaches me and says "We don't do laptops here." They could have told me in a more polite way. I never saw a no laptop sign until I was reading reviews online that the no laptop policy is only on the weekends. If you don't allow laptops on the weekends then maybe you should have a sign clearly displayed. I won't be back. It's crazy that they have this one employee who goes upstairs periodically just to monitor you and check for laptops. It makes me feel uncomfortable

Piper M.

Yelp
Service was amazing! The baristas were so nice and made our drinks so quickly! Delicious pastries and sandwiches

Yelp
cute little cafe prices are consistent with the neighborhood the ony serving oat milk thing is super annoying and has since caused my cat to have severe anxiety. other than that great little spot

Ken S.

Yelp
I would have rated this 5 stars, 6 if possible on the basis that they served the world's best sandwich: the bresaola. But now I'm devastated--no exaggeration--that it's been discontinued. How can this be? It was simple perfection. Unfortunately, the other sandwiches on the menu can't compare.
