New Canadian Restaurant Cantine Teré Has Shuttered After Less Than a Year on St-Laurent Boulevard — And Other Restaurant Closures | Eater Montreal

"One of 2019's most anticipated openings, Cantine Teré (formerly tasting-menu restaurant Fieldstone) discretely closed in December just six months after its debut. It served an a la carte menu of colourful sharing plates across three services—brunch, lunch, and dinner—from St-Laurent boulevard near St-Viateur. Head chef and co-owner Chanthy Yen left in June over creative differences with the investors and has since partnered with Cold Room Bar’s Kevin Demers; the restaurant struggled to find new kitchen leadership afterward and, Yen says, patronage suffered. The space remains vacant and is up for rent." - Audrey Carleton

It's a take-out bagel shop. Nothing too special to the experience outside of grabbing a dozen of the best bagels you'll ever eat. Having one of them fresh is so great in the morning, you don't even need to have it with anything. Although, if you can drop the extra cash you can get salmon lox in the Esposito seafood section right to the left.

Always the best bagels in Montreal 🤌 a little bit of a drive from the island but if you’re passing by, definitely recommended. Plenty of parking spots as well.

Was recommended to try the all dressed bagel by a friend and it was pretty good. Only thing was it wasn't fresh out of the oven so it was cold when I got it, but I'm assuming if you're lucky enough to get a piping hot batch it would be even better. It's actually inside the Esposito supermarket so it's a bit hard to find. Service was alright, the employee wasn't very enthusiastic but spoke English which helped. Overall for the price of $1.40 for the all dressed bagel I'd recommend it.

We were recommended this as a must-go for Montreal bagels. Did not disappoint, we got the all dressed and they're by far the nicest bagels I've ever eaten. The guys behind the counter were lovely, and as it's inside the esposito market you can get cream cheese / juice etc at the same time. Make sure to bring cash as they don't take card.

Located at a small kiosk within a grocery store, you can find amazing and fresh bagels. The gentlemen behind the window were friendly and worked really quickly. This is the best poppyseed bagel I have ever eaten. Cash only.

Delicious must try bagels from Montreal. Bought 2 of each and the sesame bagels were fresh and hot when I went. Staff were super friendly. It’s located in a small kiosk inside of a grocery store - CASH ONLY for the bagels. Closest bank is about 4 blocks away if you forget!

One of Montreal's finest bagel establishments.

Yelp
Terrific bagels and kind staff who humored by inability to speak French beyond simple salutations. Got a great mix of the best bagels I've had outside of the top-tier places in NYC that run out well before lunch.

Yelp
This is the place to get bagels in Montreal! They are hearty but still flavorful. Watching the process is so cool. You can see the dough machine and the baker making them. They have a nice variety of flavors and bagel sandwich options. The smoked meat is a Canadian must have. Very cute logo as well.

Yelp
I'm not going to debate whether this is the best MTL bagel. It might not be. Regardless, it's a damn good bagel made fresh daily on site by hand and cooked in a wood-burning brick oven. Also, it's priced fairly, so there's no way I can say this deserves anything less than 5 stars. Maybe if this is a specific ranking among all MTL bagel spots it could possibly be lower; but taken for what it is, you're getting a better bagel than 99% of other options you'd generally find. Very much a hidden gem being more in the suburbs and tucked inside of an old grocery store (though seemingly operated independently) which itself is in an old plaza.

Yelp
Getting my bagel fix in Ville St Laurent! Located inside Esposito, St Viateur has bagels except you may be stuck with sesame, poppy and whatever they have left. We went in there in the afternoon catching a flight out of Dorval, so we couldn't argue with what's left. I'm perfectly fine with my classic sesame but the kids wanted to have the blueberry, etc. It's in the back and lacks the ambiance of the Mile End locations. Beggars can't be choosers. Enjoy!

Yelp
Having grown up in Ville St Laurent &over to California to work in Silicon Valley, one of the most unforgettable Montreal staple was Montreal-style bagels made popular by Fairmount Bagels. However, to drive from Ville St Laurent all the way to downtown was a bit too far, especially at today's gas prices. So, when I saw they had St Viateur inside Esposito Supermarket, I went ahead and bought a dozen. I found it was a bit too dough-y for me, almost felt like it was a tad underbaked inside their wood-burning oven, causing that the flour still a little moist & chewy feel. Taste-wise, I still prefer the original Fairmount Bagels at corners of Blvd St-Laurent @Fairmount Road - there's just nothing like the REAL thing that's been around since the 1930's. When I am ready to return to California I'm a couple of weeks, I'd definitely drive all the way to Fairmount Bagels to bring home my 10 dozens. For the short-term, due to high gas prices, I'd settle for this one inside Esposito - STILL much better than any bagels we can find in California.
