Where To Eat & Drink With Your Dog

"The garden patio at this breakfast and lunch spot in the Mission is like the lush, secluded backyard we wish we had. It’s super spacious and shaded by plenty of trees, and is a great place for your dog to take a little afternoon nap while you chill with a book, a latte, and a panini." - julia chen 1

Restaurants and Bars to Try This Weekend in the San Francisco Bay Area: May 10 - Eater SF

"Stable Cafe offers a charming spot on Folsom Street with hot coffee, simple food, and a top-notch back patio. The tree-covered outdoor area stretches into a covered room with a communal table, all open to the fresh air but protected from direct sun and wayward winds. Menu highlights include gluten-free chilaquiles, overnight oats, and a breakfast burrito with scrambled eggs, potatoes, and cheese served with a zippy salsa." - Eater Staff

The Picturesque San Francisco Restaurants Perfect for Your Wedding Day | Eater SF

"The brick patio space at Stable Cafe seems built for weddings. String lights glow at night while an airy covering protects diners from the heat. The patio can fit about 65 people for family-style seating, and a full buyout can accommodate 100 for a standing reception or 80 seated." - Dianne de Guzman

Stable Cafe - Review - Mission - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"Stable has succulents galore, hipster signage, and lots of outdoor seats on the side patio. Skip the avocado toast, and go with the huevos or chilaquiles for breakfast. They rule. At lunch, the grilled chicken sandwich, paninis, or quinoa salad are the way to go." - Taylor Abrams

Delicious sandwiches and great coffee! I stopped by Stable Cafe while visiting San Francisco and was seriously impressed. I had the Turkey Avocado sandwich — fresh, flavorful, and definitely a must try. The coffee was also excellent, rich and smooth. The space is cozy and the staff were welcoming. Not sure when I’ll be back in the city, but this spot was a highlight of my trip. Make sure to try the toast and plum jam. The jam is made from the trees in their garden, such a special touch and absolutely delicious.

We held the wedding reception of our dreams at Stable Cafe, and it was truly magical. The garden-like setting created the most enchanting atmosphere-it felt like a hidden paradise in the middle of the city. From the moment we arrived, we were surrounded by beauty, warmth, and a sense of calm that made the evening unforgettable. The in-house catering was absolutely incredible-our guests are still raving about the food! Every dish was flavorful, fresh, and beautifully presented. A special thank you to Karen and her amazing team at Stable Cafe, who went above and beyond to make everything feel seamless. They were incredibly attentive, thoughtful, and made sure every detail looked and felt perfect. Their care allowed us to fully enjoy the night with our loved ones. We couldn't have imagined a better place to celebrate such a special moment in our lives. If you're a future newlywed searching for the perfect venue, I cannot recommend Stable Cafe enough.

Heard good things about this place so bad to stop by. Cute patio seating and also fresh orange juice is always a big plus for me. Got the chilaquiles and a sticky bun will have to come back and try all the other things that caught my eye. Very fresh and friendly service quick too!

Google
Stable Cafe is a cute and cozy spot that's perfect for a relaxed morning. Their breakfast and coffee are both excellent, making it a great choice to start your day. What really sets Stable Cafe apart is its spacious patio. It offers plenty of seating and is made even more enjoyable by the abundance of trees, shade, and a pleasant breeze. It's an ideal setting to enjoy your meal outdoors, even on a warm day.

Google
This is such a cute cafe and really feels like a hidden oasis in the city! The service was super quick and the food was delicious (I very much recommend the bánh mì or the turkey avocado sandwich). Unfortunately the matcha I had was very disappointing—it had none of the typical matcha taste/aroma and was almost virtually indistinguishable from a simple glass of milk. Otherwise a 5/5 experience!

Google
Yogurt granola bowl is awful here. At home I cook it much better. Not only they have the cheapest granola from a shop inside, but also they put banana, pear and mandarin inside, instead of berries! A proper yogurt granola bowl should have strawberries/ raspberries / blueberries, but definitely not simple banana / Mandarine. At home I cook it better!

Google
The food was pretty good, and the outdoor seating area was just beautiful. But the portion sizes were disappointing, and my friends and I left feeling a little bit hungry. I was also bothered by the disinterested quality of the guy at the cash register. Like, I get that he has to do a few other tasks, and he’ll take my order when he has time. But it seems rude to completely ignore me while he casually chats with the person beside him, and just seems to be in no hurry at all to deal with me or this line of 10 people. It would’ve been nice for him to at least say “Hey, I’ll get your order in one sec, I just have to do this thing real quick.” Instead of completely ignoring me for 5 minutes. Overall, the restaurant has a wonderful outdoor seating area, but with the food being good-not-great, and the cashier guy making me feel kinda unwelcome, I don’t really feel the need to come back.

Yelp
This is an incredible cafe. The outdoor seating area is such a vibe, open, airy, green and spacious. There's also upstairs seating which overlooks the cafe. The salad I got was delicious the Parmesan and chickpea hit the spot and yum--kale! Everyone was has also always been super chill and helpful. Highly recommend :)

Yelp
the hot chocolate was un-drinkable. my child took one sip and spit it out. i tried it and just threw it away it was so bad. also the line is extremely long and they don't bring you out your drinks. the outside seating is nice and they have two restrooms which is great.
google avatar

Konrad J.

Yelp
The two baristas never greeted me and didn't acknowledge me while I was looking at the menu because they were chatting with a friend. Eventually after the friend left they acknowledged me. My wallet was $7 lighter for a small chai that didn't taste great. They need to switch up their chai brand. There were no to-go lids for the drink. The patio is cute, but that would be the only draw since the service is nonexistent and the chai isn't good. I didn't try the food, but wouldn't come back to chance it.

Yelp
So glad I finally tried this place!! Beautiful vibey spot with indoors seating and so much shaded outdoor seating. Lots of food options, pastries, and coffee. Got the ham and cheese croissant and would recommend for sure. Great spot to work/ read or chill with friends. No wifi or outlets though.

Yelp
I've moved on from my Breakfast Sandwich obsession, now it's Avocado Toast. So far I've tried 10 places, and Stable remains #1. The only cafe to understand that when you call something a toast, for gods sake, TOAST IT! Absolute perfection people. Also 5 stars for the outdoor patio, truly an oasis in an otherwise forlorn part of the Mission.
google avatar

Alexis S.

Yelp
Adorable ambiance here, great little hang out spot for a nice day! Had the chilaquiles which did not disappoint. Also got a cappuccino - not particularly memorable but no complaints. There was a small line to put in the order but it all moved quick and both drink and food service was fast.

Yelp
Really great coffee and avacado toast . Super friendly staff and a delightful courtyard that is dog friendly . Charming spot

Yelp
I love love love stable cafe! It's so cute and casual - they have indoor and a large outdoor garden with plenty of seating. There's WiFi and it's also dog friendly! The menu is pretty simple yet super tasty (I used to always get their breakfast burrito and it comes with this really good tomato sauce on the side for dipping). Service is walk-up counter and otherwise help yourself.
google avatar

Ray B.

Yelp
I love the outdoor space here. The food is fundamental; this is where you can meet up with a friend to discuss where to go and eat later. It's an excellent chill spot on a nice weather day. BB

Yelp
Stable used to be a go to for brunch for their huevos rancheros, chilaquiles and solid coffee and mimosas but the prices are really hiked up and the portions are small. I get it when the ingredients are pricy, but these dishes use really humble ingredients. You go to Stable for the outside ambiance, it's nice and relaxing even though folsom and 18th can be busy, that particular spot is nice and kind of tucked away from the traffic.

Yelp
Stable Cafe is an oasis in the The Mission District. It been several years since I visited this beautiful Cafe with a "secret garden" perfect for breakfast or lunch gatherings with friends or family. Located on Folsom Street in a former Stable I believe is where is derived its name. I was having my oil changed a few blocks away and strolled down 17th Street to "rediscover" this neighborhood gem. I just ordered a Earl Grey tea and a plan croissant and was greeted with a warm smile and prompt service. I made my way to the incredible garden oasis nestled adjacent as with 20 tables with amble shaded seating. It reminded me of the garden District in New Orleans, Paris or Georgetown. Quite. Peaceful. Calming. A place locals meet to start their crazy day in San Francisco with a tranquility. I will start making it a more frequent place to meet with out of town guest or fellow San Francisocian visitors. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Went back during the week and am happy to report no crowds. However, I am shocked there ever are crowds because the prices are insane. I got one latte and it was over $7.00!!! That is obscene. Yes, I had to pay more because they don't have skim milk and as a woman fighting breast cancer, whole milk is poison so I had to pay more for Oat milk. So I was penalized for having breast cancer and paid more. NEVER going back!

Yelp
Partner recommend the joint so it was a must. Cashier was great, friendly and helpful. Got the fried egg sandwich with bacon and a peach and strawberry agua fresco. I was a little underwhelmed by the sandwich when it came out. I thought For 13 dollars I probably could've made myself the sandwich every day for a week if I hit up Aldi's BUT!! then that lemon aoli hit. Could I make myself a lemon aoli? Yeah probably but would it be this good? Probably not. And I don't think I would've ever thought to put it on my breakfast. And the agua fresca????? My god. One of the best drinks I've ever had. The outside dining area was also very cozy although the fruit falling off the trees gave me a little scare on the plus side free fruit! If I was too tired to make breakfast myself or just wanted a little morning treat this would definitely be it.

Yelp
Stable Café, my happy place! Such a lovely oasis in the city with delicious food and coffee, kind staff, and a most wonderful, peaceful garden patio!
google avatar

Jen L.

Yelp
Came for brunch with a friend. You order at the counter and then find your own seat outdoors. I went with the Korean sandwich and a coffee. The sandwich was good but light so definitely order things if you're hungrier. Love the causal vibe and it was nice to just sit outside
google avatar

Elaine G.

Yelp
Great spot with an outdoor area that is dog friendly! Came here on a busy late Sunday morning. Line was out the door but wasn't too long a wait, and it wasn't hard to find a table. I had a dirty chai and my bf the matcha. As for food, I had an avocado toast and he had the salmon tartine. We both loved what we ordered. The avo toast was nicely seasoned and had a sort of cream cheese underneath the avocado, which made for a yummy pairing. Staff was nice and the outdoor area was lovely. Parking a little difficult but we found a street with plenty parking a couple blocks down.

Yelp
Sososososo cute!!! I love coming to stable cafe not only for the beverages but also for the vibes. This is one of the nicest places to catch up with friends or have some quiet time to yourself. We got iced lattes here, which were phenomenal. The coffee is top notch -- and this is coming from a coffee snob. I've even tried the chicken sandwich here and it's bursting with flavor. We usually come for coffee, but I do think the food options are solid. What really makes this place is the kind staff. They insistent of petting our dogs and giving them treats the first time we came, and they continued to recognise us and remember our dogs' names! Such kind hearted people, which makes coming here a pleasure.

Yelp
Lately I've been having the smoked salmon toast and it's so fresh and just YUM. Their OJ is top in the city and they know how to pull quality espresso drinks.. I describe this place as my favorite me-time spot. Amazing customer service. A beautiful cafe in a lush garden. Like many restaurants in SF, they have a menu that reflects produce at peak season/flavor. I appreciate a space that has a diverse staff and this place just always makes SF feel like home. Stop reading and go treat yourself to some "me-time" with great food, beautiful surroundings and an amazing atmosphere. Use this spot for first dates, to treat someone to coffee or to catch up on your book. (But hurry and get out in case it gets really busy and someone needs a table)
google avatar

Leticia S.

Yelp
I've been to this breakfast spot twice now, and I don't know if I would go back. The egg sandwich was nasty the first time I had it because I forgot to say fried hard. The second time, it was the lemon aoli. The service was amazing. The ladies were very nice and friendly. The ambiance was amazing. There were plants and flowers everywhere with music playing in the background.
google avatar

Kriti S.

Yelp
Absolutely adorable place!! Seating is mostly all outdoors but that's the best part of it! So much greenery and cute plants! Food is also tasty, and service is fast even on a Sunday morning. I think it'll become one of my fav go to spots. Just can't beat the vibes!
google avatar

Emilie S.

Yelp
The outdoor garden is the perfect spot for breakfast when it's warm in SF. We had no trouble grabbing a spot to sit and stayed for over an hour. You order at the bar and they make the drinks right away and give you a number for your food. The cantaloupe agua fresca was so flavorful and refreshing. We ordered the smoked salmon tartine and the friend egg sandwich. The tartine was fresh and delicious, the herbed cheese was so soft . The lemon aioli was the highlight of the fried egg sandwich. Next time I definitely want to try the hot korean sandwich. As a treat we had the choco hazelnut croissant. sooooo good! Will definitely be back!
google avatar

Valerie N.

Yelp
Such a cute place to hang out, work, and study at! I stopped by stable cafe on a Sunday and it was busy! Not so busy that it took forever to order but the right amount of liveliness! You order your drinks and food at the counter and then it's self seating. There are seats above the counter (upstairs) and a ton of outdoor seating! There's a bathroom and also an area to grab water and stuff! The food comes to you (they give you a number) but you have to grab your coffees at the counter! The food here is so good! I was pleasantly surprised! We got the avocado toast, overnight oats, and a yogurt bowl. The toast was def the winner! Coffee was great, iced americanos for the win! I'll have to try their other options next time. This place was larger than I expected and it felt so airy and inviting. Parking is a bit difficult as it's just street parking from what I saw.
google avatar

Yelp
The food was ok. Same as the service. The neighborhood is not so great. Lots of homelessness and tents. It was a nice atmosphere. Lots of plants.
google avatar

Yelp
Good food, beautiful patio, patient with our three year old and her indecision. Felt like the prices were reasonable. We enjoyed drip coffees, chilaquiles, pastries, and thought they had a nice fruit selection with the yogurt & granola.

Yelp
The vibe and food here is worth coming back again and again! We had the BLAT and Bahn mi- both were delicious. Probably the best I've ever had. And the guys at the order desk were so pleasant and easy going it was a joy.

Yelp
This was such a great place. The ambiance, the service, the food, and the coffee met then exceeded my expectations. I will definitely be back
google avatar

Yelp
This is the perfect place if you are looking for a casual, delicious brunch at a beautiful cafe! The food is excellent -- we enjoyed everything we ordered from the simple & tasty breakfast burrito to the beautifully complex sweet potato tartine. This is a great choice if you need a dog-friendly spot, as they have a large garden patio with amble tables and seating. Service was friendly and they had our food and drinks ready surprisingly quick considering it was a weekend morning. This place will definitely be a new go-to!
google avatar

Dakota T.

Yelp
Came here this weekend for a morning bite and had a delightful time! From the food to the ambiance indoors and out, everything was great. We got 2 pastries, a breakfast burrito and 2 cappuccinos. I recognized the pastries from Kahnfections which influenced me to get their amazing dill and Swiss biscuit and we also got a great mochi muffin. This was my first time getting a breakfast burrito here and I'd definitely come back, the burrito was stuffed with fillings!
google avatar

Jocelyn L.

Yelp
Limited indoor seating but beautiful patio area with lots of tables. Love the plants they have scattered throughout the cafe, which provides a very nature and greenery focused aesthetic. Staff is very kind and service is fast -- I ordered a matcha latte and breakfast burrito and both came within 10 minutes. Very pretty latte art on the matcha latte, the burrito was well flavored but the tortilla was a little dry. Peaceful spot to get work done and enjoy the outdoors
google avatar

Lulu O.

Yelp
The coffee and chilaquiles were amazing!!! The staff is very friendly, love that is pet friendly, and the outdoor space is lovely. We will visit again :)

Steve P.

Yelp
So do you seek vibes over food when you go out? Well ignore/tolerate the average (in a good way) food, the aloof hipster servers and soak in those urban garden Williamsburg vibes!! Literally an oasis. Relax, sit back, exhale and remind yourself you're not on vacation. For its category it's the best in SF hands down.
google avatar

Camilla M.

Yelp
Nice place where to catch up with friends like my husband and I did on Saturday for lunch with another couple and their kids. They have a nice patio with a lot of tables, so the space is big enough to go with the stroller if you have kids. The food is ok...we ordered the smoked salmon tartine that was good and the chicken salad sandwich (my husband ate it, but he wasn't his favorite). Prices are a little bit high for what you get, but at least the place is nice.
google avatar

Amy W.

Yelp
Loved the ambiance here so much! There's a well lit indoor section with ground floor and upstairs seating as well as a beautiful outdoor area with picnic table seating. Friendly for all: friends looking to chat or folks looking for some alone time. Matcha latte was ok, a bit diluted/heavy on the milk. The breakfast burrito was great though and the chipotle salsa was delicious!
google avatar

Danielle L.

Yelp
Picture: lots of plants, tons of outdoor seating, and a full food and drink menu. Stable Cafe is the place to be on a sunny day. It's a great spot to hang out and catch up with a friend or read a book. I came here on a Saturday around 9:30 am. It was fairly quiet until around 11:00 am when the morning crowd came in, but it still didn't feel too crowded or overly loud. I ordered a matcha latte with oat milk. The drink was ready within minutes and cost around $6.50. The service was efficient and the staff was helpful.
google avatar

Janessa H.

Yelp
Wish the service was better here because it's such a great spot. The front staff could be more friendly. The matcha is decent, coffee is good, they have lots of food selection and plenty of seating! I'll probably be back because I live near the area but man every time I've came here the staff has an attitude.
google avatar

Vanessa M.

Yelp
Stable Cafe is now easily one of my favorite coffee shops in San Francisco. From a fully sustainable shop, to the delicious sound food with vegan options, and the incredible drinks that are well made. I would highly recommend this shop to anyone who loves coffee and wants to enjoy a nice afternoon here. The service was very kind, and they were quick to produce our delicious drinks. I previously worked at a coffee shop for three years, and everything here tasted and looked well sourced. Parking in the area could be difficult so be cautious for that if you are driving.
google avatar

Rob M.

Yelp
This has become my favorite spot in the city. The staff quirky and fun, the food is consistently great, and the garden vibes are awesome.
google avatar

Crystal C.

Yelp
Wow! What a great visit to the Stable Cafe. I ordered their chai, Korean hot chicken sandwich, Reuben, ham and cheese croissant and cappuccino. Their cappuccino was tasty, very excellent and to my liking. The reuben was okay, in that the meat was OK, but the kimchi was delicious. The ham and cheese croissant was also very good. In terms of the environment, the plants make the ambiance super relaxing like a great place to do work. The outdoor area is awesome with lots of seating available and many people were doing work, spending time with their dog, and engaging in conversations. Lastly, did I mention their cappuccino? There are not many places that make a great cappuccino, but they definitely won it for me! Would definitely come back again to get another chai too. It was pretty tasty! The service was also excellent and baristas were friendly. Looking forward to my next visit!
google avatar

Christina T.

Yelp
This cafe is a rare gem in San Francisco! It has upstairs seating and a gorgeous outdoor area. I saw plenty of people studying indoors and there was coverage outdoors for rainy days. The outdoor seating is super cute with string lights, succulents, and an outdoor fire place. They have some small succulents for sale outside. I think the food and coffee were average and a bit pricey for the portion. The egg sandwich was okay but it wasn't too flavorful. I would do bacon instead of avocado for more texture. The breakfast burrito was also lacking texture but the spicy dipping sauce was perfectly paired. I would love to come back for the ambiance.
google avatar

Christine C.

Yelp
Great environment to catch up with someone, especially on the outdoor patio. Unfortunately this cafe does not have wifi, so working remote is not possible unless you bring your own hotspot. The matcha latte was ok, not sweet at all, averagely priced ($6-7).
google avatar

Ash B.

Yelp
A hidden gem in the Mission. Such a cute outdoor area to enjoy coffee and to work. Latte art is always on point.

Trina L.

Yelp
The place is beautiful but the staff is rude af, I was recommended this place by a local but was let down within minutes of arriving. Food was fine, the coffee was so mid I couldn't force myself to finish it.
google avatar

Rebecca W.

Yelp
Super lovely and friendly service from the barista, great tea and sweet potato tartine. And, of course, the outdoor space can't be beat. There's so much seating and so many lovely and well-cared for plants. If you want a spot to work from on a nice day, this is it.
google avatar

Julie N.

Yelp
Really cute cafe with a huge outdoor courtyard with ample seating shaded by lovely trees, we came here on a Saturday and it was busy but not packed. I had the salmon lox tartine, which was delicious. Would highly recommend spending a relaxing morning here!
google avatar

Erica K.

Yelp
What a gem in the city; a cafe serving Neighbor Bakehouse pastries and simple breakfast plates with an outdoor cozy patio caught my attention and appetite. We ordered two Pistachio Berry Twice-Baked Croissants, one Lox Bagel, a cold brew, and an extra hot Oat Milk latte. Coming to a total of $31 pre-tip, pricing is typical of SF as you order at the register and in exchange receive a number for your food, however for drinks you have to wait at the counter. For drinks, they take down your name instead of the number, which could be problematic if there are two people with the same name and order. There is an upstairs area to relax and enjoy some alone time, and two bathrooms in total-one near the patio and one next to the register. Stable Cafe's saving grace is their cozy backyard patio, which can also be reserved for special events.

Paul H.

Yelp
Turkey sandwich was super lame. $17 for what looked and tasted like the most basic sandwich. Bread was small sliced bread, aioli lacked flavor, turkey, avocado and lettuce left me wanting more. Iced chai latte also just tasted like milk and ice. Ambiance and service was alright so 2/5 stars.
google avatar

Trent H.

Yelp
Stable Cafe is tucked away on Folsom, but it should not be missed as it's perfect for a casual dog-friendly brunch spot. I've ordered the Sweet Potato Tartine twice and it's never disappointed. The menu is a bit limited, but they have perfected what they serve. I'd highly recommend a cappuccino to start your meal before you grab a table in the garden. One note: service is limited, as you order at the counter.
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
I go to this spot regularly. Love the outdoor space love the coffee, but the barista with the glasses and facial hair always gives me attitude. I don't know if he doesn't like me for some reason or what, but he's always rude to me and it sucks. I'm a regular customer so I don't know why he treats me poorly. During my last visit he called the wrong name for my order so I waited to hear my name, and he gestured to the drinks pointing at me and said the wrong name again, and I said I was waiting for drinks for "my name" and he responded to me with "whatever". Not great service if you ask me. Get a nicer barista, getting treated like crap when you spend 30 bucks on coffee and breakfast doesn't make people want to come back. But aside from that this place is cute.
