This probably doesn't really need to be said, but it feels pretty weird to be reviewing an SF hotel considering how I, you know...live here. Sure, I've checked out the rooms at a few hotels around The City when I've met up with friends from out of town, but the experience is definitely different as a guest rather than as a visitor/tourist. In no small part because it means having to pay for said room, rather than just hang out at. Man, hotels here really are as expensive as my friends say it is!
With one of our best friends getting married just down the block, my buddy and I opted to stay nearby to make it easier on us since we were going to be part of all of the weekend's festivities. As such, we admittedly ended up splitting a room here more for convenience than anything we had heard about Stanford Court. That being said, all of the photos we saw online looked good and, more significantly, the place looked no different in person. Not that we could really tell when we first started to walk up - the hotel is back-set from the curb, so you can't see much of it from the street. Inside, the lobby has a decently modern look and feel to it, which is pretty interesting considering how the hotel itself is on the older side.
For our relatively short stay, my buddy ended up booking a TWO QUEEN BED PREMIER INTERIOR ACCELERATOR, which is essentially just their basic two queen bedroom that faces inwards, overlooking the valet area/turnabout below (as opposed to facing the streets outside). Given the $250-ish per night rate we paid though, I would've thought we'd end up with something a little more than basic, regardless of this being the Bay Area and all. That's also before the $30-ish "facilities fee" that they assessed, which presumably went towards the "comp'ed" welcome drink, fitness center, and business center that we never used.
As far as the room goes, it's pretty evident that the layout is driven by how limited the space is. Understandable, given the hotel's age, but it's no less awkward, what with a bed butted up next to the door, the lack of a desk or concealed closet (it's pretty much just a rack), and the TV being placed at a 90 degree angle from the beds. That being said, at least all of the staple amenities were accounted for - comfortable beds, toiletries, ironing board, iron, hair dryer, safe, mini fridge, in-room coffee maker, and wi-fi. Just don't expect much in terms of bells and whistles, as there really isn't much to the room that otherwise stands out.

In terms of service, it was fine for what it is, but I'm certainly not in the best position to judge given how little time we spent here. Although the staff seemed friendly enough, I can't even say much beyond that since we didn't get the room serviced nor did we talk to anyone outside of the check-in/check-out process, for better or worse. All in all, Stanford Court definitely served our intents and purposes, but I assume there are better options around if you're looking for a more fulfilling experience. At the same, you could probably do worse, as well.
Yeah, writing this was weird...
