"At Stanley’s, you’ll find perfectly trimmed trees, flowers, and sophisticated food that falls somewhere between British and Mediterranean. This place is absolutely perfect for date night or a grown-up birthday dinner with your deeply fabulous friends. Prices can stack up quickly, because, hello, you’re in Chelsea, but it’s all entirely worth it. There’s some perfectly lovely seating inside but really you’re here for the satisfaction of eating burrata and a whole grilled fish out in that charming courtyard." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, rianne shlebak

Stanley's

"Look out for the flower stall on Sydney Street because tucked behind it you’ll find Stanley’s. You can either sit in the sheltered, flower-festooned courtyard or inside the lean-to glasshouse. Come for drinks and small plates or the full works; dishes are vibrant and eye-catching with punchy flavours." - Michelin Inspector

The Best Dishes We Tried In August

"Cornish crab and potted shrimp crumpet “As I’m sure every day of your life you wake up and are once again haunted by the question, ‘What does that wonderful Heidi of Infatuation fame deign to eat when she’s not at restaurants?’. Fine, I’ll tell you. I eat crumpets. So many crumpets. Crumpets smothered in marmite and cheese. Crumpets with ham and eggs (please do try The Lazy Man’s Eggs Benedict). And yet, my rosta of crumpets has never come close to this crab and shrimp number from new-ish Chelsea spot, Stanley’s. An extra doughy crumpet loaded with rich crab and little hints of shrimpies, I urge you to make your way to their charming courtyard and try it immediately.” - HLB" - team infatuation

I had my wedding meal here on Saturday for 32 people and I have to say the food, atmosphere and staff were all fabulous! The staff made sure the drinks were flowing (remembering individually what wine people were drinking!) and the food came out with no faults and no mix ups! The lead up to the day was stress free and very well organised, ensuring they had enough wine for the day, drinks on arrival and even had our own personalised menu! Thank you for making our day so special, everyone had the most amazing time and we will definitely be back 🥰

Beautiful food and a lovely quiet courtyard and restaurant in Chelsea. Very nice staff as well. Cod was well cóoked and asparagus was very fresh.

Cute restaurant in the heart of Chelsea! The outdoor seating area is very lovely, tables are not too close from each other, the music is not too loud and the atmosphere is lovely. Our waitress was very patient and kind. The food was nice, we were all pleased with the selection and with our order. I would recommend! They are also dog friendly!!

A bit tucked away just off the Kings Road in Chelsea, this is an unusual restaurant which has to be entered by two flights of stairs (down, then up) so may not suit everyone. While there is an indoor section, there is also a large outdoor patio covered with awnings which looked fairly rain-proof. The menu can be a bit difficult to understand if you are not a foodie (Burrata, Trombetta, Corra Lin) but our waitress was very willing to explain all. I would also have liked to see the descriptions of the cocktails expanded, not just names, so I could make a more informed choice. Again, our waitress helped out and we were very happy with our choices. The menu is fairly small but covers most people's requirements (meat, fish, vegetarian). We had the cod which while well done was a bit bland. The choice of additional vegetables was again small but the “bobby beans” were cooked perfectly. I then had the chiffon cake which was pleasant; I would not have objected had it been larger. The restaurant was busy for mid-week but service was good and we did not have any undue or unwelcome waits. Clearly, situated in the heart of Chelsea, it was never going to be cheap, but £60 pp. including an automatic 12½% service charge, was probably good value. I was disappointed to see someone smoking but I suppose this counted as outdoors.

We went there for a cocktail event. Everything was perfect, from the food to the atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. We would definitely come for another visit if we're around. 10/10

With drinks, our price tag for two people came to just under £200. Food was delicious, although it felt very slightly overpriced - but that’s probably par for the course for the locale! The friendly and attentive service made up for any such feelings. Would highly recommend the lychee and mint martini & matcha colada! For food, we really enjoyed the sourdough & wild garlic butter, the sirloin, and the roasted cod.

When we arrived at the restaurant we were surprised to see a rat on the steps of the locale. My friend and I entered the restaurant which had the gates open in the front, and said we were here for a work event to which the employee rudely stated, “We are closed.” We then explained that it was reserved and the event was supposed to be starting in 17minutes to which the employee stated, “We are setting up. We are closed.” We were not offered a seat to wait or even told a time to return which would have been appreciated as my friend is older and has trouble standing for long periods. When we returned 40minutes later, the same employee greeted us as if nothing had occurred and pretended to be welcoming. Whilst we understand that the staff may have been completing work, the level of rudeness and customer service was appalling. During the actual event, staff were very pushy and constantly coming up to members of the group telling them to move to the back of the restaurant and to sit down, despite the fact that there were no other customers present at that moment. I was told to take my seat twice in the span of 5 minutes despite the fact that there were another dozen people standing as well. Following this, the same employee wearing a gilet would stare at our table and give dirty looks towards us. The younger waiters were very kind and pleasant however the rest of the staff were absolutely vile. The food itself was subpar and overrated. The croquettes were bland and lacked any real depth of flavour. The steak was well proportioned but the waitstaff did not ask how it would like to be cooked therefore it was up to luck if you enjoyed the level of searing. The dessert which was a chiffon cake with rhubarb was dry. When a member of the group asked for other condiments for their meal like mayonnaise, they were told that they do not have such sauces and only had mustard. Overall, this restaurant is attempting to be upscale but lacks basic understanding of customer service and human decency. Save your money and go elsewhere in Chelsea.
