A bit tucked away just off the Kings Road in Chelsea, this is an unusual restaurant which has to be entered by two flights of stairs (down, then up) so may not suit everyone. While there is an indoor section, there is also a large outdoor patio covered with awnings which looked fairly rain-proof.
The menu can be a bit difficult to understand if you are not a foodie (Burrata, Trombetta, Corra Lin) but our waitress was very willing to explain all. I would also have liked to see the descriptions of the cocktails expanded, not just names, so I could make a more informed choice. Again, our waitress helped out and we were very happy with our choices.
The menu is fairly small but covers most people's requirements (meat, fish, vegetarian). We had the cod which while well done was a bit bland. The choice of additional vegetables was again small but the “bobby beans” were cooked perfectly. I then had the chiffon cake which was pleasant; I would not have objected had it been larger. The restaurant was busy for mid-week but service was good and we did not have any undue or unwelcome waits.
Clearly, situated in the heart of Chelsea, it was never going to be cheap, but £60 pp. including an automatic 12½% service charge, was probably good value. I was disappointed to see someone smoking but I suppose this counted as outdoors.
