"Doughnut chain Stan’s has paczki available now through Fat Tuesday at all locations. There are six flavors (that’s two more than last year): raspberry, strawberry, chocolate cream, pastry cream and cannoli, and a vegan option with strawberries and dairy-free cream. Pre-orders are open online." - Naomi Waxman, Ashok Selvam

This place is great! However, the employees displayed impolite behavior while we were placing our order; the lady's constant unpleasant expression towards us was evident throughout. Despite this, the donuts are quite delicious, making it worth the experience.

Google
Super cool environment. sausage/egg croissant wasnt to die for, but i love the atmosphere. the cookie smoothie + donut was super novel and my 6 year old loved the sugar rush.

Google
Delicious donuts! I had a croissant donut and it was great. Friendly staff, clean, light and cozy space. Highly recommend!

Cheeky Panda

Google
Delicious donuts!! Highly recommend. They also have great coffee!

Google
Cappuccino was hot and reviving. Cinnamon roll was tasty with a nice slight outer crunch. Ambiance was... well, we took it to go (down the hall to the couches in the medical center vestibule). Perfectly fine place to stand and wait for your order. My vegan friend was happy with their options.

Google
Stan's Donuts is a great breakfast option. They get busy, and this slows down fairly simple orders. Minimal indoor seating, so make sure to grab a table when open.

Ahmed

Google
Yummy donuts and coffee- Tried the Lotus donut and iced oat milk latte, and while the donut was just incredible, the coffee tasted a bit.. dilluted? Not much strength to the coffee and just very bland. Apart from this, the donut selection was mad and geninely wished I tried more!

Stopped by for a bit since I always see a Stan's donuts somewhere, but have never been. The place is a ghost town after 5pm with almost no business so it's no wonder they don't restock the donuts. There were only four glazed left of which I just took one in-case others wanted them. The cashier seemed surprised that I just took one & asked me repeatedly if I'm sure I just wanted one (I don't know if she expected me to order more or she wanted people to finish them off.) I also got a mango dragonfruit drink. Something was odd about the drink pricing though because either the small is what's shown on the menu or every size is the same price since the pricing seemed a bit much for a small 16oz drink. I was handed my order within two minutes after it was placed. When I went to sit down I noticed the place was dirty. It looks like it hasn't been wiped down in forever by the looks of the layered on dirt on the table legs & seats. I honestly expected more, especially considering the downtown white collar clientele that come through here. The glazed donut was good. It was a romantic blend of sweetness & fluffyness without too much of either. I scarfed it down then began to sip on the mango dragonfruit. The drink starts out pretty mild. It's almost like a pink lemonade with hints of mango for the first layer, but I guess you're supposed to mix it since once you hit the bottom dark layer you're hit with a wave of sugary goodness. It's odd because they give it to you with a sipping top & no straw so shake it to mix it. Overall, it's a decent donut shop. Not the best show they got going on here considering the lack of product & cleanliness, but at least they got the food right. If I need a quick bite to eat & nothing else is available I wouldn't hesitate to stop by here, but with other places like Do-Rite around the corner from here it's no wonder the place is a dead after dark. I did note that there were at least 10-15 people that stopped by looking for donuts during my brief time there (30 or so minutes) so perhaps they should at least prepare 3-4 of each flavor & see what sells in the afternoon/early evening in-order to avoid having people leave disappointed or even just leaving money on the table since it says they close at 8PM! That's quite a few hours that a business is open without anything to offer as far as mainstays. They might as well close shop after lunch is over like many other downtown restaurants if that's the case.

Yelp
Great donuts -- no doubt about it. You're not going to be disappointed with the quality and flavor. In the last ten years, the fancy donut shop has become more than a rarity. Be prepared to pay $3-6 for each donut. They have different tiers, hence the pricing differences. Some are on special, and some are premium ingredients. Usually it seems they have about ten to fifteen varieties. Some filled; some cake. They serve coffee and variants, and there are breakfast sandwiches and also unusual items like a muffin-donut hybrid.

Kaitlyn M.

Yelp
Such good donuts! I don't think there is a bad one here. The gluten free donuts do not even taste like they are gluten free. The iced coffee with vanilla foam is delicious!

Rachel B.

Yelp
Wow I did not realize how many Stan's locations there are!! I stopped in for a donut and got a vanilla sprinkle one. It was delicious. It took a lot of willpower not to go back for another! I think I will get one more before I leave Chicago.

Yelp
This is the Stan's Donuts located at Erie and Fairbanks in the Lavin Pavilion at Northwestern Hospital. I've been here quite a few times since I have multiple doctors I see regularly in the building. The donuts are always tasty and they actually make a decent cappuccino. Service is quick too. The gentleman that checked me out yesterday was super nice and chill - gave me a laugh when he noticed my cat's photo as the background on my phone. Highly recommend if you'd like a treat after your doctor's appointment - nice pick me up!

Yelp
We love Stan's. It's becoming a must when we visit Chicago. It's one of the few places I can find not only my chocolate old fashioned donut, but a DOUBLE chocolate old fashioned donut.... (I know, drooling, right?!?) Our first experience (pink bag) was at the Rush Street location... SUPER busy, but both of us loved our donuts and service was good... not super friendly, but still polite and quick. Our second visit was the Erie location - the guy helping us was fast, but funny and friendly... even complimented my glasses. My chocolate old fashioned was DELICIOUS, but my daughter was so disappointed... her Long John had no filling, hence only 4 stars instead of 5. She gets a better Long John from our local gas station, unfortunately. Overall, Stan's is great... fun atmosphere with kinda retro lighting & decor, yummy donuts and good people. We'll always come back... just work on those Long John's, please! :)

Christina S.

Yelp
This location is super high tech with a flat screen television above the cash registers detailing available items and their prices! It was impressive! I selected the Dark Roast Whole Bean Coffee and the barista ground it appropriately for my press. Needless to say I am looking forward to making it tomorrow!!! The staff was knowledgeable, kind, efficient and hardworking. The ambiance was soft leather seats at small and larger tables. Everything was well stocked and very clean. I will definitely return to this location in the near future. Love the personalized service.

Brooke S.

Yelp
Delicious and unique donuts and coffee. I got the chocolate old fashioned donut and an iced vanilla latte. There was a long line on Saturday morning. The service was pretty quick though. Cute pink interior decor and nice chill cafe ambiance with hustle and bustle of lots of people there.

Ria S.

Yelp
I ordered my drink with light ice and then asked the young lady who prepared my drink if it was prepared with light ice and she stated yes. If 3/4 cup of ice is considered light ice I can only wonder how much ice would have been in my cup if I did not request light ice. I basically donated $6.70 to them.

Apryl C.

Yelp
Stans was quite possibly the best donut I've had in the last 30 years! I had the chocolate dipped one and the frosting was the perfect balance to the cake donut inside. My husband had a sour cream donut and said it was the first time since he was a child that he could actually taste the sour cream in the donut. I took one star off because they were unable to make breakfast sandwiches on this day and the guy behind the counter seemed sick of everyone's shit. When we ordered a breakfast sandwich he said "yeah, not doing those today" so I said "ohh ok I'll need one more second." He rolled his eyes and walked away. It's important to note we were the only ones in line so it's not like we were holding him up. He came back and we ordered our donuts and coffee (which was also great, very balanced dark roast) without further incident. We will be back to Stans as the donuts and coffee were delicious. I just hope whatever that young man was going through on this day he's better today.

Steve H.

Yelp
This is my go-to place to reward myself after a successful doctor's appointment here at Northwestern Memorial hospital. Staff here is always very happy and friendly and polite and calm. The donut shop is always clean. They serve La Colombe coffee, I believe. Donuts are expensive, but they are four steps above dunkin' Donuts if you're willing to treat yourself once in a great while.

Richard S.

Yelp
You know what the best thing is about Stan's Donuts? Their brand and packaging! I give them real kudos for the brand they've developed. But developing a great end product - not so much. The cruller was too moist....to the point of almost wet in the inside. Donut had the taste of all sugar - no donut flavor to create that donut harmonious blend of flavor. Also had a regular glazed donut. The bit and chew was tough. With then, so much of so so bland cake flavor to the inner potion of the donut. Place (not) worth the time of day....and that's too bad. Because the log and general overall brand look, it sure looks like it could be a good place.....but it (is not).

Selena S.

Yelp
was looking for a place to grab a snack while waiting for my doctors appointment in northwestern. this place is located on the first floor right near the entrance. i got two cake doughnuts with sprinkles, pretty tasty. the real winner though is the cherry vanilla refresher. the worker recommended it to me and said he was actually drinking one at the moment lol. i'm glad i listened bc damn it was tasty. wish i gotten the largest size. very sweet, almost lemonade kind of tasting. i loved it. i'll definitely grab another one next time im back at northwestern.

LeeAnn M.

Yelp
Bougie coffee and donuts. Very good but not the local spot it claims to be. Service was very nice and ambience was very bougie. More of a crazy donuts than classic donuts place.

Enna J.

Yelp
Very cute interior. You order for your donuts at the pastry counter and get them right away. Long wait for literally anything else. It took 10min for a regular drip coffee and an additional 15min for the breakfast sandwich - which they just reheat pre-made sandwich in a toaster oven. The donuts and sandwich however were good. The drip coffee was extremely strong. The hashbrown is mushy.

Kristen F.

Yelp
OMG the sugary goodness that is here! It was hard to pick out just a few donuts, so we got some to take back to Kentucky with us. So unique and delicious! We asked for some recommendations, and ended up with a delicious raspberry cheesecake. WOW! My favorite as always was the old fashioned blueberry. Yum!

Rodney W.

Yelp
Visted Stan's Donuts looking for a delectable donut. Visually, the donuts looked great. So we requested a traditional glazed donut and a gluten free blueberry glazed donut. The regular glazed donut was just okay. The blueberry one had a little more flavor and I enjoyed it. Overall, the donuts were surprisingly average. Donuts aren't the only thing they do, however, and they offered other pastries and drinks. Most of the people in the shop were not eating donuts. With the word "Donuts" in your name, I would expected better donut game and a bigger selection.

Douglas C.

Yelp
First timer I thought it was quite average and pricey. Nothing special and you could do better near by.

Emily T.

Yelp
A really cute donut and coffee shop with multiple locations all over Chicago! We got a few different donuts to try - which included their pistachio, cronut, and something that looked like a twisted glazed donut. I also ordered a chai latte. The atmosphere and staff are super cute and friendly. Even though it was busy, the staff was efficient and quick about service. We were able to get seating easily and appreciated that the bathrooms were clean. The donuts themselves were ok. I found them to be a little too sweet for my liking. Same with my chai latte, a little too sweet for me. This spot was recommended by a few friends so I definitely wanted to check it out. But when it comes to donuts, it doesn't quite compare to the ones I've had in California or Portland.

Kangni X.

Yelp
Convenient location with plenty of seating. Came around lunch and they still had a good selection of pastries. I'm a fan of the pistachio old fashioned donut. I ordered a basic iced oatmilk latte, which had a strong espresso flavor and balanced amount of ice and oatmilk. The staff completely my order quickly.

Brittney D.

Yelp
Houston-based donut lover here. Hi. I liked Stan's!! Shop was clean, couples were there enjoying one another and enjoying donuts. Service was young. On to the good stuff: the donut options were impressive- so many delicious-sounding choices left me overwhelmed. We went for breakfast sandwiches on croissants, plain glAzed donuts and pumpkin spice lattes. Everything was good. I would recommend this place when you're in the area, you won't regret it. Two word review: get glazed.

Monica R.

Yelp
This is a cute donut shop with multiple spots around Chicago visit . The line wasn't too long and they have many options for donuts, and you want something salty , in this location I got a bagel .

Aesha E.

Yelp
It's alright. I've visited a Stan's in the suburbs before and didn't think it was anything special, and that opinion hasn't really changed much. I think when I visited before they only did donuts at the time (I could be wrong about that, maybe I just didn't have an interest in anything else). I stopped in to grab something to have for breakfast and it was fine, if overpriced. The hashbrowns are just a triangle of hash brown, not worth it. The croissant sandwich was good, but again i think it was 6-7 so I'm not sure about paying for that again. I got a maple long john because I've always struggled to find maple donuts around here (especially without bacon included), and maple is a staple in my hometown so they've always been my favorite. This one was ok but the wrapping they put on it pulled a third of the maple off. It wasn't as pillowy as I like in that type of donut, but that's just a personal preference that is also harder to find in one of these. Overall, it cost just under $13. But steep, and while I'm glad it was easy and convenient when I needed to pick up something to eat, I also won't be a destination place for me. I'm not sure I understand the popularity outside it being the Hot New(ish) Thing (Einstein Bros was once very popular too!). It's a glorified Dunkin that's more expensive.

Ariel M.

Yelp
This is a nice little place! Usually a bit busy but normally stocked with donuts and they make the drinks well, always tasty items.

Graysen V.

Yelp
Some of the best donuts I've ever had. Came here bright and early on a trip to Chicago and got a half dozen to have for the upcoming week. I immediately ate the cronut, which was arguably the best cronut I've ever had. It was coated in sugar (which is how I like it with my sweet tooth), many flakey layers, a sweet dough, and a boston cream like filling. It was fresh, warm, and the perfect combination of chewy donut and flaky croissant. The boston cream was also a highlight of the half dozen, although none of them were bad. The only downside is that the coffee was just okay. Both my friend and I were not big fans of our coffee, but the quality of the donut made up for it. The service was also fast and very friendly for 6:30am. They made conversation with me and cracked jokes, which was a wonderful way to start the morning. Absolutely coming back whenever I make it back to Chicago.

Aly M.

Yelp
Pretty sure this is the best donut I've ever had. It is worth the calories no doubt. Sort of mad I fell in love with Stan's Donuts, but also so happy to have found an amazing coffee and donut / breakfast spot with awesome customer service! This donut is crispy and flaky on the outside and yet soft inside. So good! My go to is the plain old fashion always and now this one!

Scott V.

Yelp
Not sure what all of the fuss is about, but Stan's sells so-so donuts at sky-high prices! My husband is having a stay at the hospital steps away from Stan's. So I have stopped in several times the past few weeks. In the morning, there is a good selection of donuts and the service is okay. In the evening, there are no donuts left and you're given a blank stare when you come into the shop. The donuts are okay, with a few creative flavors you probably can't get anywhere else, but they're not great, especially for the prices they charge. And shop just feels like an overpriced chain store. Yes, it's better than Dunkin', but not by much. I know that they're a dying breed, but I have had much better donuts at mom and pop bakeries, and at half the price, and twice the quality.

Peter W.

Yelp
Don't get me wrong- the donuts are great. Although sugar bombs for sure. They are waaaay overpriced for what you get, even the classics. If you're a tourist with kids you couldn't go wrong here - just be prepared to pay for the privilege. Use google maps and go to do-rite chicken and donuts instead.

Felipe M.

Yelp
Been here a couple of times, and honestly not a big fan of big donut chains Dunkin, Winchells, because, in my opinion the doughnuts do not have much flavor. My family who live in the area really like Stan's but i think its more of the convenience because there are no other doughnut shops around. They have some very interesting seasonal doughnuts but i wanted to stay with the classics to see how they compare to my local doughnut shop. We ordered some old fashioned, glazed, chocolate glazed, and a cinnamon roll. Also tried regular coffee. Will have to say the best part of the trip was the coffee, it tasted great with no typical coffee shop bitterness. The doughnuts were honestly very pedestrian, not too dry, not too flavorful, just kind of meh. Everything looks to be very consistent, so if you have a favorite you are sure to be pleased, but nothing really exciting to speak of.

JemuelnleAnne M.

Yelp
Nice spot for a doughnut and coffee. Greta seating and friendly staff. Sure to be a local favorite for its hot eats and warm drinks. He coffee was good and the doughnuts yummy!!

Alli C.

Yelp
My daughter loved her visit to Stan's Donuts! She raved over the selection of flavors and literally inhaled her toffee nut donut. I ordered a matcha latte and was very happy with it - very much on pr with Starbucks and it wasn't overall sweet.

Adam B.

Yelp
The eggs are the only good thing this place sells. The donuts are terrible and so is the bacon! This review applies to the oak lawn location too!! I had the exact same experience!!! The eggs were great, but the donut and bacon were absolutely horrible in taste. Maybe I will come back for eggs? But probably not!!!!

Brandon H.

Yelp
I needed coffee and wondered into this place. I walked in and my coffee addiction quickly changed to a coffee and donut addiction. I got the chocolate glazed donut and a Lotta. They where both very good. The place was very clean hade Disney music playing and was decorated with fun. The place reminds me of a coffee shop bakery that would be at Disney World. The service was great and the coffee did the trick. I will definitely be back for brakfast next time. Mmmm donut.

Dana G.

Yelp
Staff was super polite and cheerful. Our first visit and won't be our last. Donuts were amazing!! One of the best I have ever had. The pumpkin cheesecake was to die for. We took a six pack home with us we loved it so much! Great place for a quick breakfast and coffee.

Teri W.

Yelp
Several varieties of donuts for the lover of sweets!!! If not a huge fan, then not many choices. I save this as the donuts with toppings are really sweet. My favorite was the coconut cake. The blueberry cream cheese pocket with added glaze was too much for mw.

Alaina H.

Yelp
Cute little donut and coffee shop. I ordered the devils food donut and a hot coffee with almond milk. Both were petty good. It seems to be in a good location and there was plenty of room to sit when we went.

Keyvan T.

Yelp
The Le Stan croissant donut is the best donut. When in Chicago I always enjoy a donut and coffee. I wish they had pork free breakfast meal such as turkey bacon.

Kenneth K.

Yelp
Stan's Donuts is wonderful and their coffee drinks are amazing. It is right near where I stayed last year at Northwestern and Shirley Ryan and my wife and I went back two weeks ago for my follow up. It helped that we preordered ahead since the line was almost out the door. We had the Apple Cider Cake and Pumpkin Old Fashioned Donuts as well as a Caramel Apple and Pumpkin Spice Lattes which were all delicious.

Miranda C.

Yelp
Small location with limited variety, but overall I was pleased with our experience. We arrived at 8am on a Sunday morning and our order was waiting for us on the pickup rack. I highly suggest ordering ahead as this was a busy time for breakfast. PROS: -Order was ready for us at pickup time. -Surprisingly, there is a good amount of seating (inside and outside). -Blueberry old fashioned and glazed pretzel were good! -Ice water dispenser available located near napkins and utensils. CONS: -My husband said that the chocolate old fashioned was not good. Too much icing, which made the donut soggy. -Outside tables were very dirty, and there were birds everywhere waiting for your food. We decided to sit inside instead. -Pricey. Paid $12 for 3 donuts.

Yelp
Cutest decor and fresh, delicious products!!! Love the fact that they have gluten friendly donuts! My daughter had a gluten friendly, blueberry donut, and I had a devil's food cake. We also had an iced coffee and a cold brew. Everything was tasty and fresh, and the customer service was on point. Very courteous staff! You should definitely drop by if you're in the area!

Tiffany W.

Yelp
I'm soooo confused on why there was so many people here... Came on a Monday (Labor Day) and there was a decent amount of people around 8am. Service was amazing! They workers were very kind but the two donuts my friend and I tried as SO SO SO sweet it literally gave us tooth aches. I would never come back here again. We have Stan's donuts in California in Santa Clara and that place is 100000 times better!!! Also there was a cockroach in the bathroom and you can tell they definitely don't clean the tables or floor.

Noel S.

Yelp
I get my doughnuts at Mariano's in Lakeview. I got them there because it was convenient. They are overpriced and way too sweet, but, easy to access. I got the Old Fashioned either plain or chocolate. The last ones I bought taste different...and not in a good way. Something changed...maybe they are using a different mix or freezing them now. I had both plain and chocolate and the taste was so off and different than previous, that I pitched them. I won't be back! Waste of money.

Anna M.

Yelp
This is not a Happy Stan's Donuts. I've received crunchy donuts (old? Overcooked?), and the staff just wants to move people along. I know that paper is used to grab donuts, but there was a recent instance where money was handled and then gloves weren't changed. I tried doing to points thing too since my friend got a cake for her birthday (I want one!), and 2 visits happened where it didn't work and staff told me points were added. Their coffee is good and the filled donuts are spot on Stan's

DeAndrea B.

Yelp
My husband and I visit Chicago quite often and were always looking at ways to eat delicious brunch. However, we were on our way back to Indy so we just stopped to have a quick doughnut and coffee. We read reviews about this place so we decided to try it and it was great. They have a lot of options as far as doughnuts and drinks are concerned which we really enjoyed. I also love the community seating which allowed for conversation. I am pretty simple so I got a cinnamon sugar doughnut and my husband got coconut which he also enjoyed. The frappe was a bit sweeter than I would've have liked but I will adjust my order next time. It's a super fun place to go with lots of options so enjoy!

Kennedy O.

Yelp
Brenda is the most disrespectful person ever ! Her attitude is stank and should not be putting her bad drowning energy on people's coffee or food! Horrible choice of a worker. She couldn't fix a simple mistake without a problem. I've never had a problem here before and I come every week..the guy who usually works is so welcoming and knows how to make coffee

Eric E.

Yelp
Wanna hook yourself up to a cholesterol IV? If so, stop by Stan's. My son has a special place in his stomach for donuts and seeing as this was in our path while we were in the area one day, he coaxed me to stop in. Once inside you look at those cases of donuts and other baked goods and quickly realize you can't say no. But the madness has to have its limits, so I told him he could have one, and one only. No need to give diabetes a wake up call, right? I'm not gonna lie, the donuts we had were awfully damn good. The kind that fill you up with just one too, these suckers are indulgent. My sugar high kicked in within seconds and lasted a good hour. All in all I'd highly recommend, especially if you like donuts or other baked pastries. They probably make a mean cup of Joe too...I just didn't have any while I was there. Cheers.

Kathryn K.

Yelp
Pistachio old fashioned and pineapple croissant donut. Love the donut selection lots of fun variety. They have cold brew on tap as well!

William P.

Yelp
The strawberry bismarck is the best I had "yet". The buttercream doughnut is amazing as well , the chocolate doesn't stick to the wrapping paper either ;). The later in the day you go the less options of doughnuts there are to choose from. Earlier the better.

Abby L.

Yelp
A cute coffee shop with a good amount of seating. I got the lemon pistachio traditional but went around 10 AM so not as fresh. Was still good but if fresh or warmed up I think it would have been perfect. A good place to hang or get a little bit of work done. I wouldn't say good for zoom meetings because when busy it can be loud.

Priscilla K.

Yelp
Stan's is only a few blocks away from my friend's place, and we were lucky to start our morning with a yummy desserty breakfast! The interior was predominantly this bright, bubbly pink that really set the mood this morning. Pink can be a tricky color to work with for interior design, but overall, the place still looked modern & classy. Pink sofas, chairs, couches, bags, and etc. so fun!!! As for our naughty breakfast... We loved the old-fashioned donuts & I also enjoyed the gluten-free blueberry donut. We ordered takeout so that we can have them by the river, but first, we had to take a cute touristy selfie inside with all things pink :)
